Wanetta M Flinn
Ellenboro, WV

Waneta M. Flinn, 83, of Ellenboro, W.Va.,
passed away Sept. 27, 2010, at Eagle Pointe
Nursing Center.

The family will conduct a private memorial
service at a later date. Cremation
arrangements were provided by Kimes Funeral
Home & Cremation Services of Parkersburg.

Gloria Jean Lyons
Parkersburg, WV

Gloria Jean Lyons, 77, of Parkersburg, passed
away Sept. 27, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.

Cremation arrangements are being provided by
Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Parkersburg.

Earl W. (Bill) Friend II
Parkersburg, WV

Earl W. "Bill" Friend II, of Parkersburg,
passed away unexpectedly Sept. 26, 2010, at
St. Joseph's Hospital.

Earl was born March 23, 1936, in Parkersburg,
a son of the late E.W. "Bill" and Helen Regina
Mortimer Friend.

He was a Methodist by faith and a 1955
graduate of PHS. He was retired from American
Cyanimid and had formerly been employed by the
FBI in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the
F.O.P. Moose Lodge and the Eagles, and was
also an avid WVU Mountaineer football fan.

Survivors include the love of his life, Jane
Hardman; special friend, Monica Davis; and
many other friends and his K-9 companion,
Penny II.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor John Barker
officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg
Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8
p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour
prior to services Tuesday.

Memorial donations should be send to the
Parkersburg Humane Society.

Harold E. Jake Smith
Washington, WV

Harold E. "Jake" Smith, 73, of Washington,
W.Va., passed away Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital emergency room.

He was born June 4, 1937 at Belleville, a son
of the late Wardie C. and Lucy Jane Smith.
Jake retired from the Lubeck Public Service
Commission with 12 years of service and had
worked for E.L. Harper & Son Construction
Company for many years.

He was of the Methodist Faith and enjoyed
Woodworking, Gardening, and the Outdoors and
Camping, being a member of the Good Sams
Camping Club.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Violet Sams
Smith; one son, Terry L. Smith of Washington;
one daughter, Debra Smith Marks of Washington;
grandchildren, Donald Marks (Sasha Hall,
fiancee), Justina Nickole Smith and Kimberly
R. Smith (Catlin Blair, fiance) and a great-
granddaughter, Charlotte Blair, all of
Washington; one brother, William D. "Bill"
(Betty) Smith of Belleville; and a sister,
Lorraine "Hobo" Hartshorn of Akron, Ohio; many
nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law,
Myrtle Sams of Washington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by brothers, Kenneth A. Smith and Elmer
E. "Curley" Smith and a sister, Mildred "Mid"
Straight, an infant brother, and two infant
sisters.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
St., Parkersburg, Pastor Larry Dale will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-
8 p.m. today.

Mary Ellen Smith
Parkersburg, WV

Mary Ellen Smith, 88, of Parkersburg, passed
away Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at the Willows
Nursing Center. She was born April 26, 1922 on
a Jackson County farm at Cavin Fork to Harry
Hudson Smith and Alma Jane Stallings Smith
Seals. Mary graduated in the January 1940
class at Parkersburg High School. In 1943, she
married Charles Smith Jr., who had enlisted in
the Navy prior to WWII and was aboard the
battleship U.S.S. California during the
bombing of Pearl Harbor. Later, he was a long
time electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 968.

Mary became a homemaker whose homemade chicken
and noodles and pies were family favorites.
When her first child, Steven, entered college,
she went to work for Bureau of Public Debt,
retiring after more than 20 years of
government service. Mary was preceded in death
by her parents, husband Charles, and sisters
Edith Rawson, Auleen Perdue Holleron and Miona
Wilhelm. She is survived by son Steven of Los
Angeles and daughter, Jane of Columbus;
sisters, Ethel (Truman) Smith Boyce of Mineral
Wells and Ila Shockey of Parkersburg;
grandson, Maj. Scott (Patricia) Conley and
great-grandchildren Zac, Tyler and Ashley of
Sanford, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mary will be conducted at
1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at Kimes
Funeral Home, 521 5th Street, Parkersburg.
Pastor Rick Brown will officiate. Burial will
follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family
will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the
time of service on Thursday.

Frances Eloise Ayers Spencer, 83, of
Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 26, 2011, at
Highland Oakes Nursing Center at
McConnelsville, Ohio.

She was born Sept. 20, 1927, at White Pine in
Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Arlie
M. and Nellie Jane Stutler Ayers.

Frances was a graduate of Calhoun County High
School and Wood County Vocational Technical
Center. She worked as a child development
teacher for the YWCA Day Care for 26 years and
was employed there for 27 years. She was also
a volunteer at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital
for 18 years.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Beverly) Spencer
of Parkersburg and John (Amy) Spencer of
Fayette City, Pa.; six grandchildren, Ryan
(Adrienne) Spencer, Ethan Spencer, Jason
Spencer and Stacy Spencer, all of Parkersburg,
and Luke Spencer and Ben Spencer, both of
Fayette City; one great-grandson, Easton
Spencer; two brothers, Herman M. Ayers of
Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Raymon L. Ayers of
Sutton, W.Va.; one sister, Orma Connard of
Grantsville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, H. David Spencer.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
St., Parkersburg. Pastor Joe Ward will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be 4-8
p.m. Tuesday.

The family would like to express sincere
thanks to the Eagle Pointe and to the Highland
Oakes Nursing Homes for the love and care that
was shown to their mother during her time of
residence there.

Zoey Renea Flinn
Parkersburg, WV

Zoey Renea Flinn, newborn daughter of
Christopher S. Flinn and Amber R. Watkins of
Parkersburg. Zoey was born Feb. 25, 2011, at
Camden- Clark Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by
her paternal grandparents, Darrell and Myra
Flinn of Parkersburg; maternal grandparents,
Mike Watkins and Kim and Terry Hamilton, all
of Parkersburg; paternal great- grandmother,
Arlene Cutright of Washington, W.Va.; maternal
great-grandparents, Tom and Ann Longwell and
Betty Watkins, all of Parkersburg; her aunt,
Beth Watkins; and uncle, Don (Penny) Flinn.

There will be a funeral service at 1 p.m.
Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
with Pastor Ken Fullerton officiating. Burial
will follow in Babyland at Sunset Memory
Gardens. Visitation is 11 a.m. until service
time on Tuesday.

Harold Eugene Wright
Belleville, WV

Harold Eugene Wright, 78, of Belleville,
passed away Feb. 24, 2011, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late
Cella and Thelma Ethel Fleak Wright.

Harold retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 36
years of service and he had served in the
United States Army. He enjoyed the outdoors,
farming, 4-wheeling and hunting.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Kathryn
Doan Wright; two sons, David E. Wright of
Belleville and Michael R. Wright of Lubeck;
two daughters, Deidra K. (Ron) Heiss of
Barlow, Ohio, and Michelle L. Taylor of
Parkersburg; grandchildren, Tyler and Sarah
Wright, Michael JR. and James Wright,
Dominique Hickey and Danielle Leal (Roberto),
Jesse Taylor and Charley Mae Taylor; great-
grandchild, Evangelina Leal; one brother,
Darrell Wright of Belleville; three sisters,
Geraldine Smith Deem (Dale), Irene Townsend
and Lorene "Pug" Sellers (Bob) all of
Belleville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a daughter-in-law, Karen Wright.

The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, Pastor Larry Dale will officiate
and burial will follow at Sunset Memory
Gardens. The visitation will be on Sunday from
2-8 p.m.
