William D (Bill) Flinn
Mineral Wells, WV

William D. "Bill" Flinn, 85, of Mineral Wells,
was comforted by his daughters at his side as
he went to be in the arms of Jesus on Aug. 16,
2011 from the Willows Center.

Bill was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Belleville, a
son of the late Elza A. and Daisy M. Swain
Flinn.

Bill was of the Protestant faith and retired
in the late 70's with over 30 years of service
with the Iron Workers Union 787 of Parkersburg.

He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary and a 32 degree Master Mason, being
a 50 year member of the Parkersburg Masonic
Lodge 3.

He truly enjoyed being around people, helping
others, and enjoyed his grandchildren.

Surviving are his two daughters, Joyce (Fred)
Cross of Mineral Wells and Janet Joachim of
Washington, W.Va., and her companion, Jim
Hamilton of Little Hocking, Ohio; four
grandchildren, Jeff (Tina) Vandergrift of
Greenville, S.C., Chad Vandergrift of
Barboursville, W.Va., Dan (Amy) Joachim of
Parkersburg, and J.R. (Samantha) Joachim of
Fredricksburg, Va.; great grandchildren, Zac
and Cheyenne Vandergrift of Greenville, S.C.,
Brennen and Regan Joachim of Parkersburg, and
Noah and Eva Joachim of Fredricksburg, Va.;
one brother, Darrell Flinn of Homestead, Fla.;
several nieces and nephews; and a host of good
friends that he met and talked with at Wal-
Mart, Fruth Pharmacy, Bob Evans, and Cracker
Barrel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Wanda Ruley Flinn, and four
brothers, Donald Flinn, Leroy Flinn, Ed Flinn,
and Harold Flinn.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th Street
with his longtime good friend, Ken Hoelscher
speaking. Burial will follow at Evergreen
North Cemetery with Masonic Rites provided by
the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge 3. Visitation
will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and an hour
prior to the service Friday.

There will be a fellowship meal provided for
family and friends following the graveside
service at the Friendship Kitchen on Emerson
Avenue.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of
Mr. Flinn to the Friendship Kitchen on Emerson
Avenue, c/o North Parkersburg Baptist Church.

Velma Jane Wildman Buckley
Belleville, WV

Velma Jane Wildman Buckley, 87, of Belleville,
passed away Aug. 16, 2011, at her home.

She was born at New England, a daughter of the
late Saul W. and Sarah Cottrill Wildman.

Velma Jane was an active member of the
Belleville United Methodist Church where she
served as church treasurer since 1964. During
the 1940's she was employed with McCroys in
Parkersburg. She was a member of the
Belleville Homemakers Club, the Farm Bureau
and Adelene Wood's Wild Game Foods Cooking and
Canning Club.

Velma Jane was well known for her homemade
bread, her cooking and her friendly smile.

Surviving is her husband, Ogden K. Buckley;
three sons, Mark (Debra) Buckley, Tom (Cindy)
Buckley, and Kelsey David (Floretta) Buckley,
all of Belleville; two daughters, Naoma (Jim)
Marks of Belleville and Emily (Raymond)
Bradley of Parkersburg and her niece, Pam
(Bob) Deem of Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren
and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her sister, Ella Mae Wildman
Balsley and an infant son, Benjamin Buckley.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, Rev. Marilyn Schroeder will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens.

The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
today, and an hour prior to the service on
Thursday.

Frad Mancini
Parkersburg, WV

Fred Mancini, 94, of Parkersburg, passed away
Aug. 6, 2011, at Eagle Pointe where he had
been residing.

He was born June 27, 1917, in Washington, Pa.,
son of Fred and Mary Mancini.

Fred was a member of St. Margaret Mary
Catholic Church. He retired from Mister Bee
Potato Chip Company, was co-owner of Allstate
Vending and had served in the U.S. Army during
World War II.

Surviving is his son, Richard "Sam" Mancini of
Parkersburg; and two grandchildren, Anthony
Mancini of Huntington and Caci Mancini of
Fairmont.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife of 70 years, Rose Martini
Mancini; a brother, Angelo "Bugs" Mancini; and
two sisters, Edith Frank and Delfenia Orsatti.

There will be a graveside service at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Father
Andy Switzer officiating. Military rites will
be provided by American Legion Post 15 of
Parkersburg. There will be visitation from 2-3
p.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth St., Parkersburg.

Memorial donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society.

James R Hufford
Parkersburg, WV

James R. Hufford, 72, of Parkersburg, died
Aug. 2, 2011, at Camdon Clark Medical Center-
Memorial Campus, after a courageous fight with
leukemia.

He was born March 30, 1939 on Bunnels Run in
Ritchie County, a son of Rex Hufford and Sarah
Marie McCloy Hufford.

Jim graduated from Pennsboro High School with
the class of 1957. He retired from E.I. Dupont
with 35 years of service. He was a member of
the American Legion Post #15 and the DuPont
Retirees Club. He served with the 1092nd Army
National Guard and was a Methodist by faith.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt,
fish and camp at his summer place in Elkins,
W.Va. and enjoyed spending time with his
granddaughters.

Surviving is his wife of 49 and a half years,
Lois Roby Hufford; his son, James Bruce
(Christine) Hufford of Washington, W.Va.;
three granddaughters, Caitlyn, Brianne and
Hayley; one sister, Nancy (Joe) Clayton of
Smithville, W.Va. and several nieces and
nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his brother, Dwight Hufford.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg, Rev. Chrissy Ruehl and
Rev. Phillip Prunty will officiate and burial
will follow at the Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery
with military rites provided by the
Harris/Ritchie VFW Post #3554. The visitation
will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.

Katharine L Kelly
Parkersburg, WV

Katharine L. Kelly, 92, of Parkersburg, passed
away July 24, 2011 at Harmar Place in
Marietta. She had been a resident at the Inn
at Marietta for eight years prior to going to
the Harmar Place.

She was born June 8, 1919 in Parkersburg,
daughter of the late William E. and Flora
Louise Roth Huffman.

Katharine retired from the I.R.S. with 34
years of service and was a longtime member of
the St. Paul Lutheran Church on Broad Street,
where she was active with the Altar Guild, was
a substitute Sunday School teacher and had
served as secretary for the church council.
She had served as secretary for the West
Virginia Credit Union and was active with area
4-H clubs. Katharine loved horses and was an
accomplished Equestrain.

Surviving is her son, William R. Kelly of Las
Vegas, Nev.; her daughter, Louise Ann Kelly-
Parkansky and her husband, Steven, of
Morehead, Ky.; four grandchildren, Shane Kelly
of Las Vegas, Joseph Kelly of Columbus, Ohio,
Ross Parkansky and Alex Parkansky, both of
Morehead, Ky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Rex Kelly, whom she
married in 1944. Together, they moved to and
lived in Michigan for sixteen years and
returned to the Parkersburg area in 1959. Also
preceding her in death was her brother, Alfred
Huffman.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Broad
Street with Pastor Roger Vernick officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen North
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8
p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th
Street, Parkersburg.
