Henry J. Whittington, 74, of Vienna, passed
away April 24, 2011, at Charleston Area
Medical Center, Memorial Division.
He was born June 4, 1936, in Vanderlip,
Hampshire County, W.Va., the son of the late
John Henry and Fannie Melinda (Timbrook)
Whittington.
Henry was a retired civil engineer with the
West Virginia Department of Highways with 35
years of service. Prior to that, he was
employed by Alleghany Ballistics and B&O
Railroad. He was a United States Navy and a
United States Army veteran.
Henry was a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of
West Virginia and locally was a member of
Parkersburg Lodge 169, a member of the
Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a member of the
Nemesis Shriners of North America, a member of
American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg and had
been a member of the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed gardening, geneology, hunting,
fishing and woodworking.
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Beverly Ann
(Grace) Whittington; one son, Steven M.
(Patti) Whittington of Anderson, S.C.; one
daughter, Cheryl A. (Tom) Boso of Washington,
W.Va.; four grandchildren, Jonathan
(Georganne) Whittington of Raleigh, N.C.,
Christine (Nick) Kinley of Anderson, S.C., and
Jason Boso and Megan Boso of Washington, W.Va.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Melton will
officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery with Masonic Rites provided by
Parkersburg Masonic Lodge 169 and military
rites provided by American Legion Post 15 of
Parkersburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from
2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
James R (Pap) Postelwaite
Parkersburg, WV
James R. "Pap" Postelwaite, 84, of
Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Thursday,
April 21, 2011, at Emeritus at Marietta, Ohio.
He was born Nov. 27, 1926 in Richwood, W.Va.,
a son of the late Ralph Postelwaite and
Blanche Hamrick Postelwaite Woodyard.
He was retired from DuPont Washington Works.
He also worked for National Airport in
Washington, D.C. and Stewart Airport in
Parkersburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II and a 1944 graduate of
Parkersburg High School, where he played
basketball.
He loved to fish, watch sports, and spend time
with his grandchildren. He also loved his
dogs, Penny, Reggie, Maggie, and Molly. He
especially loved his dog, Ru-Ru, who preceded
him in death. He had taken her to area schools
to read to students..
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen
J. Houchin Postelwaite; his daughters, Cheryl
(David) Parker of Marietta, Ohio and Debra
(Mark) Wells of Parkersburg; his
grandchildren, Michelle Norman (Ed Moon) of
Marietta, Kim (Jim) Harmon of Dayton, Ohio,
Kelly (Stuart) Gobel of Parkersburg, Brooke
(Sam) Helms of North Carolina;
stepgranddaughter, Samantha (Nick) Bradley of
Parkersburg; his great-grandchildren, Olivia
Dawson, Katelin and Garrett Harmon, Colten
Helms, and Lucy Bradley; his sister, Marsha of
Florida and brother, Johnny Woodyard of
Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his stepfather, John Woodyard;
brother Randall Woodyard; his grandmother,
Minnie Hamrick and aunt Stella Hamrick, who
both raised him.
A special thank you to his granddaughter,
Michelle for helping care for him for the past
several months. The family would also like to
thank Dr. Bob-Paul Erdelyi of Marietta
Memorial Hospital and the staff at Emeritus of
Marietta.
There will be a graveside service held 2 p.m.
Saturday at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery on 23rd
Street in Parkersburg with military rites
conducted by the American Legion Post #15 of
Parkersburg.
There will be no visitation.
The family requests donations be directed to
the Humane Society of Parkersburg.
Kevin Dwayne Hall
Parkersburg, WV
Kevin Dwayne Hall, 40, of Parkersburg, passed
away April 15, 2011, at Charleston Area
Medical Center.
He was born March 26, 1971, in Parkersburg, a
son of John Wayne Hall Sr. and Sharon Ann
Riggs Hall of Parkersburg.
Kevin had been employed at Red Lobster,
Winans Maintenance and Kraton Polymers of
Belpre. He attended Parkersburg High School
and Warren High School. He was a sports
enthusiast, especially enjoying football and
wrestling.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by
three brothers, John W. Hall Jr., Michael S.
Hall and Rick S. (Naomi) Hall, all of
Parkersburg; one sister, Teresa (David) Turner
of Vienna; and several nieces, nephews, aunts
and uncles.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. His uncle, the Rev. Thomas A.
Hall will officiate. Burial will follow at
Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Robert Morgan (Bob) Freeland
Parkersburg, WV
Robert Morgan "Bob" Freeland, 84, of
Parkersburg, passed away April 13, 2011, at the
Sistersville Nursing Facility.
He was born Aug. 11, 1926, at Pennsboro, a son
of the late Louie T. and Carolyn Laina
Williamson Freeland. Bob was a member of the
19th Street Church of God, was retired from the
Local Carpenters Union #899 and was Owner and
Operator of Bob's Bicycle Shop in Parkersburg
for many years and he enjoyed hunting. He was
also a U.S. Army Veteran having served during
World War II.
Surviving is his wife, Joan T. Turner Freeland;
three sons, Lyle M. (Dee) Freeland of Columbia,
S.C., Stanley D. (Jane) Freeland of Newark,
W.Va., and Robert M. Freeland II of
Parkersburg; one daughter, Kimberly F. (Terry)
Wise of Clarkson, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis
(Gene) Dailey of Vienna and Marilyn Wilson of
Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by two brothers, Elmer G. Freeland and
Gerald "Jerry" Freeland.
The funeral service will be held 1 p.m.
Saturday at the 19th Street Church of God.
Pastor Randell Fuson will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The
visitation will be at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth St., Parkersburg from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
today and at the church one hour prior to the
service on Saturday.

Jordan Michael Rader
Parkersburg, WV
A blessed little Angel has been called back to
heaven! God needed him back to do his work!
Jordan was born April 12, 2011, at Camden Clark
Medical Center, Memorial Campus to Ryan M.
Rader and Candace R. Lamp of Parkersburg.
He is survived by two brothers, Trenton A.
Rader and Braylen T. Lamp, and a sister, Graci
P. Rader. Also surviving are paternal
grandparents, Angie Davis of Parkersburg, Jimmy
Davis of Parkersburg; paternal great-
grandmother, Jane Rader of Vienna; maternal
grandparents, Arlis Lamp Jr., of Parkersburg,
Leesa Ferguson of Parkersburg; maternal great-
grandparents, Ed and Loretta Wallace of
Parkersburg and John and Judy Suek of Mineral
Wells and several aunts and uncles.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m.
today at Sunset Memory Gardens, Baby Land. Rev.
Scott Sears will officiate.
Kimes Funeral Home, of Parkersburg is assisting
