Mary E White
Poland, OH

Mary E. White, 86, of Forest Ave., Poland,
Ohio, passed away at 10:43 a.m. Sunday, March
20, 2011, at The Hospice House, Poland, from
complications of cancer.

Mrs. White, the daughter of Frank O. and Lena
Ruth (Devaughn) Robinson, was born on April 1,
1924 in Mineral Wells, W.Va.

Mary worked as a press operator at Moyer's
Seven Seas Slacks of Youngstown, where she
retired from after working there for 20 years.
She enjoyed watching wildlife and also enjoyed
cooking.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Carl
Elwin White, who passed on Aug. 19, 1999, whom
she married Oct. 28, 1944.

Survivors include daughter, Miss Ruthann
White, North Lima; two sons, Carl E. White
Jr., Roger White of Jacksonville, Fla. Also
surviving are sisters, Freda Cooper, Lake
Havasu City, Ariz., Ada Franklin, Parkersburg;
brother Clarence (Anita) Robinson,
Parkersburg; four grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, at Seederly-
Mong & Beck Funeral Home, North Lima, at 1
p.m. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.

Material contributions may be made to Hospice
of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH
44514.

Dorothy Juanita Dent States
Rockport, WV

Dorothy Juanita Dent States, 86, of Rockport,
passed away March 18, 2011, at Camden Clark
Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

She was born April 10, 1924 in Parkersburg, a
daughter of the late Nello M. and Hazel Beard
Dent and stepdaughter of the late Della Kerr
Dent.

Juanita was a 1941 graduate of Parkersburg
High School, was a member of the Limestone UM
Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving is her son, Tom (Mary) States of
Prospect, Tenn.; her daughter, Sharon (Robert)
Mick of Wrentham, Mass.; four grandchildren,
Eric (Katie) Mick, Sarah (Sean) Sullivan,
Tristan States and Will States; four great-
grandchildren, Emily and Seth Sullivan and
Clell and Celia Mick; one sister, Carolyn
Bridges of Tallahassee, Fla., and several
nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Rev. William G.
States and a brother, Robert Dent.

There will be a memorial service held at 3
p.m. Sunday at Limestone UM Church at
Rockport. Pastor Vera Archer will officiate.
Cremation arrangements are being provided by
Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services of
Parkersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the
Salvation Army in her memory.

Clairmont Parsons
Mineral Wells, Wv

Clairmont Parsons, 89, of Mineral Wells,
passed away March 14, 2011, at Camden Clark
Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

He was born April 27, 1921, at Gay in Jackson
County, a son of the late Johnny and Icy
Riddle Parsons.

Clairmont was a member of Big Tygart United
Methodist Church and he retired from
Monongahela Power Company with 37 years of
service. He was a member of the Good Sams
Camping Club, was a charter member of Mineral
Wells Volunteer Fire Department and he enjoyed
hunting and camping.

Surviving is his wife of nearly 70 years,
Ernestine Barber (Tiny) Parsons; one son, Gary
(Patricia Sue) Parsons of Mineral Wells; two
daughters, Shelia (Charles) Brown of Mineral
Wells and Brenda (Thomas) Blondine of
Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Craig
Parsons, Jay Parsons, Brent Parsons, Chad
Brown, Brad Flinn, Michelle Roth and Joanna
Palmer; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister,
Jean (Russell) Pfalzgraf of Parkersburg; and
several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by an infant daughter, Sharon Mae
Parsons; one brother, Odbert Parsons; and
three sisters, Georgia Deem, Flota Yoho and
Edna Reid.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
Big Tygart United Methodist Church, Mineral
Wells. The Rev. Jeff Mayfield, assisted by the
Rev. David Deem, will officiate and burial
will follow at Big Tygart Cemetery. Visitation
will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral
Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and he will
lie in state at the church one hour prior to
the service on Thursday.

John M Harris
Parkersburg, WV

John M. Harris, 70, of Parkersburg, went on to
be with the Lord on March 8, 2011, at CAMC
Memorial Division Hopital in Charleston.

He was born Nov. 21, 1940 in Montrose, W.Va.,
a son of the late Hensley Harris and the late
Louise Cost Harris Hughes. He retired as a
Lieutenant with the Parkersburg Fire
Department with 27 years of service. He was
owner and welder of Harris Welding for 40
years. John's hobby was stock car driving The
#77 as the "Flying Fireman" and he enjoyed
bowling where he helped with YABA.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Maribelle
Ullom Harris; his daughter, Robin Harris of
Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Jane Ellen Herrin of
Nahunta, Ga.; longtime family friends, Arlene
and Herb Ewing of Parkersburg, Jackie Davis of
Parkersburg, Linda Batton of Parkersburg,
Polly Teets of Elkhart, Ind.; sister-in-law,
Phyllis Miller of Belpre; brother and sister-
in-law, Terry and Connie Ullom of Kalispell,
Mont.; and many nieces and nephews and
neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by brothers, Milburn and Lawrence Harris.

There will be a graveside service 1:45 p.m.
Friday at Sunset Memory Gardens. Pastor Dobby
Thrash will officiate.

Honors will be provided by the Parkersburg
Fire Department.

There will be visitation on Friday from 11
a.m. until 1 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth Street, Parkersburg.

Linda Louise Carpenter
Parkersburg, WV

Linda Louise Carpenter made her way to the
Lord on Feb. 27, 2011, in her home. She was
brought to us Feb. 5, 1949.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ruth
and Martin Radabaugh, and her fiance, W. T.
Knight.

Living on with her memory is her brother,
David Radabaugh, and three children, Richard
R. Carpenter Jr., Lisa A. Hornbeck and Martin
L. Carpenter. Through these three children,
she had 11 grandchildren. Also she loved two
stepchildren, Amanda and Thomas, and nine
stepgrandchildren.

The funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th
Street, Parkersburg. Rev. Daniel Hopkins will
officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen
North Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6-
8 p.m. today.

Lucille James Phillips, 73, of Parkersburg,
went home to be with Jesus March 26, 2012, at
her residence after an extended battle with
brain cancer.

She was born Aug. 12, 1938 at Webster Springs,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Rowe and
Betsy Starcher Rowe.

A graduate of Webster Springs High School, she
did her undergraduate studies at Glenville
State College, and was a graduate of WVU where
she completed her Doctoral Studies.

She had formerly taught at Glenville State
College, Marietta College, Wood County
Schools, and retired from Belpre City Schools
as a reading specialist..

In addition to being a member of the South
Parkersburg Baptist Church, she was also a
member of the Women's Democratic Club and the
Christian Woman's Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Mona J. Life
(James) of Parkersburg; one brother, Jim Rowe
(Phyllis) of East Helena, Montana; two
sisters, Rhonda Lane (Greg) of Summersville,
W.Va. and Wanda Justice of San Diego, Calif.;
two grandchildren, James Michael Life (April)
and Melissa Renee' Life, both of Parkersburg,
and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and
Daniel Life; also surviving is her former
husband, Ralph D. Phillips of Fort Myers, Fla.

In addition to her natural parents, she was
preceded in death by the parents who raised
her "Daddy" Hoke James and "Mom" Elizabeth
James; two brothers, Bill Rowe and Charles
Rowe, and three sisters, Louise Rowe, Ruby
James and Iza Rowe.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg
with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Visitors
may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home and one hour prior to services Thursday.
