Martha Elizabeth King Salatto, 102, of Ohio
Valley Health Care, where she had been
residing, passed away Jan. 3, 2013.
She was born Aug. 30, 1910, at St. Marys,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Clinton
and Hattie Irene Laughlin King. Martha was a
member of the Willowdale Baptist Church, and
was a homemaker. She enjoyed shopping, and was
a good grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving is her daughter, Ruth Brown of
Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Elizabeth
(John) Brace, Patricia Slaven, Charles Slaven
Jr., Marco (Teri) Marziali and Clinton
Marziali; four great-grandchildren, Nolan
Brace, Sara Brace, Rico Marziali and Miranda
Brace. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Lewis
Salatto in 1963; her son, Charles H. Slaven in
1994; her son-in-law, Frank D. Brown in 2004;
her sister, Regina Kieffer; and a grandson,
Curtis Paul Slaven.
The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m.
Monday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Todd Hill will officiate,
and burial will follow at the Lubeck Cemetery.
The visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
Charlyn Aline Ransbottom
Parkersburg, WV
Charlyn Aline Ransbottom, 75, of Parkersburg,
passed away Jan. 3, 2013, at Camden Clark
Medical Center.
She was born June 17, 1937, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Charles M. and Wanita
Dean Rinehart.
Charlyn was a 1955 graduate of Parkersburg
High School, was a devout Christian and member
of Tri City Baptist Church, and a former
member of Kanawha Baptist Church. She retired
from WESVACO as a secretary. She loved
gardening, antiquing and bird watching.
Surviving is her husband, Roy Ransbottom Jr.;
two sons, Mark W. (Linda) Ransbottom of
Falling Waters, W.Va., and Michael James
(Cathy) Ransbottom of Greenville, S.C.; one
daughter, Mary Ann Ransbottom of Parkersburg;
four grandchildren, James M. Ransbottom, Amber
Abbott, Christina Ransbottom and Katie
Ransbottom; two sisters, Lura Russell of
Parkersburg and Pat Bradford of Piedmont,
S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by a brother, Richard Rinehart; and a
sister, Marion Archer.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m.
Monday at The Pentecostals of Parkersburg; the
Rev. Joseph Hunt will officiate.

Lawrence Raymond (Ray) Life
Parkersburg, WV
Lawrence Raymond "Ray" Life, 89, of
Parkersburg, passed away Dec. 29, 2012, at
Wyngate Assisted Living Home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1923, at Jane Lew, W.Va.,
a son of the late William Cecil and Malinda
Jane Fisher Life.
Ray was a 1942 graduate of PHS and retired
from DuPont as a foreman with 33 years of
service. Before entering the military, he had
worked at the Baltimore Shipyards as a Class A
Welder. He had also worked at Villers Motors
following his military service. Ray was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II having attained
the rank of Sergeant. He entered the service
on July 30, 1943, was wounded in action in
Belgium, was awarded four Battle Stars, Bronze
Arrowhead and was a recipient of the Purple
Heart.
Surviving are three sons, John (Karen) Life,
Jim (Mona) Life and Jeff Life, and a daughter,
Jenny (Randy) Ware, all of Parkersburg; eight
grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremiah) McKenzie,
Jane (Jeremy) Myers, James Michael (April)
Life, Melissa Life, Alexander Life, Benjamin
Life, Ashley Ware and Megan Ware; and three
great-grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel and
Lilly Life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Bonnie Lou Carroll Life on
Dec. 13 of this year; an infant daughter, Jane
Pearl Life; and two brothers, William and
Donald Life.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Evangelist John Rockhold will
officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen
South Cemetery, with full military rites
conducted by American Legion Post 15.
Visitation will also be Monday beginning at
noon.
Robert L. Wilson
Baltimore, MD
Robert L. (Bobby) Wilson, 43, passed away on
Dec. 28, 2012, at home in Baltimore, Md., after
a long battle with cancer, with his loving wife
by his side.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1969. He is the son of
Janet Allman Wilson of Vienna, W.Va. and Ronald
L. Wilson of Washington, W.Va. He was a 1988
graduate of Parkersburg High School. He
accepted Christ, and was a member of the
Rosedale Baptist Church in Baltimore, Md. He
was employed at 180's LLC as a sales manager.
Bobby was a loving and fun person. He was a
giving person who was full of life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents,
Cleopheus (Tood) and Icie (Peach) and Gladys
Allman. He is survived by his grandfather, Carl
Allman of Parkersburg. He leaves to mourn and
cherish his memory, his loving and devoted
wife, Jessica C. Scott Wilson of 17 years; his
mother, Janet Wilson; his dedicated father,
Ronald L. Wilson (Wanda); one brother, Ronald
L. Wilson II (Christine) of San Diego, Calif.;
one sister, Susan Goings (Benjamin) of Georgia;
and a host of nieces, nephews and other
sorrowing relatives and friends. One special
niece, Jessica Scott of Maryland; Uncle Gary
(Wanda) Allman; and childhood friends, Mark
Carpenter, Dan Winters and a host of many
others.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m.
Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg. Rev. Chad Emrick will
officiate, and burial will follow at the Spring
Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be 2-8 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth Ann "Sissy" Wright Arnold, 42, of
Parkersburg, passed away Dec. 22, 2012, at her
home.

Rockport, WV
Catherine Aubre Cornell, 2 years and 4 months
old of Rockport, went to be with the angels in
heaven on Dec. 17, 2012.
She was born Aug. 13, 2010, at Pleasant Valley
Hospital at Point Pleasant, the daughter of
Kimberly Cornell Carson and Jeremy Carson.
In additiion to her parents, she is survived
by paternal grandparents, Steve and Margaret
Carson of Rockport; maternal grandparents,
Terry and Lorie Wilson of Vincent, Ohio and
Virginia Wilson of Hamlin, W.Va. and maternal
great-grandmother, Peggy Midkiff of Hamlin;
three step brothers, Eric, Jimmy and Trenton
Carson all of Parkersburg and a step sister,
Stormy Carson of Parkersburg; and several
aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m.
Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg with the Rev. Will Basham
will be speaking. The visitation will also be
on Saturday beginning at noon.
Monetary contributions may be directed to the
funeral home to help the family with the cost
of expenses.
