Lois Adkins
Lois Collins Adkins, 76, of Hurricane Died February 26, 2006, at Putnam General Hospital.
She was born in Logan County on November 14, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Jess and Brooke Kennedy Sias. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Sebert Collins and Robert Adkins, and brothers, John Sias, Franklin Sias and Jesse Sias.
Surviving: sons, Ronald Collins and wife, Virginia, of Alkol, David Collins and Lynn Banks of Alum Creek, and Timothy Collins and Tena Dunlap of Alkol; daughter, Teresa Siebel and husband, Jim, of Hurricane, with whom she made her home; sister, Phyllis Adkins and husband, Gene, of Canton, Ohio; stepsons, Thomas Adkins and wife, Oke Nom, of Glaucester, Virginia, James Adkins and wife, Edith, of Alkol, George Adkins of Hurricane, and Archie Burton of Pennsylvania ; stepdaughter, Mary Akirs of Beckley; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Service was held Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, with the Rev. Kirk Deuker officiating. Interment was in Barker Cemetery, Spurlockville.

Ronald Lee O’Dell
Ronald Lee O’Dell, 61, of Winfield died Saturday, February 25, 2006, at the home of his nephew and caregivers, Michael and Peggy Bragg of Winfield.
Born March 21, 1944 in Clay County, he was the son of the late Gay August O’Dell and Delphie O’Dell of Walton.
He was a surveyor and an Army veteran.
Surviving: son, Billy Keith O’Dell of Elkview; daughter, April Marie Spade of Winfield; grandchildren, Laura Alice O’Dell and Billy Keith O’Dell of Florida, Samantha Raye Spade, Elijah Griffin Lee Spade and Alexandra Elizabeth Spade of Winfield; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Alice O’Dell of Bomont; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alyce Faye and Criss Bragg of Ovapa, Mary Ellen and Howard Friend of Ravenswood, Glenna and James Perdue of Ovapa, Sandra Sue and Charles Loomis of Given.
Service was held Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with minister Roger Cummings officiating.

Charles “Chuck” Wayne Williams
Charles “Chuck” Wayne Williams, 51, of Milton, WV, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at Henson Mortuary by the Rev. Bob Withers. Interment in Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill, W.Va. He was born May 31, 1954 in Holden, W.Va., son of Bob Williams of Milton and Mary Osburn Williams, also of Milton. He was a salesman for Burdette Camping Center. He is also survived by a stepmother, Lynda Williams of Milton; sons Max and Logan Williams of Ona, W.Va., and brother Steve Williams and his wife Kim of Ona.

Joyce Marie Adkins
Joyce Marie Adkins, 69, of Ona, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville, by the Rev. Paul Stevens and the Rev. Russell Donahue. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. She was born May 4, 1936, in Branchland, W.Va., a daughter of the late Curtis and Arlie Lawson Jeffers. She was a former employee of Inco, Perry Norvell Shoe Factory and Corbin, Ltd. She was saved at Branchland Baptist Church and baptized in Four Mile Creek. She was a member of Midkiff United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Louie H. Adkins; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim Adkins, Angela and Bobby Rose and Amy and Randy McComas, all of Ona; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Pam Adkins of Huntington, Ricky and Marsha Adkins of Ona; one brother, Herman Jeffers of Ona; five grandchildren, Chris Dennison, Matthew Adkins, Kayla McComas, Hanna McComas and Travis Rose; special niece, Sabrina Blankenship; special nephews, Barry and Herman Jr. Jeffers. The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington and the Crisis Team for their care during Joyce’s illness.

Donna “Big Mama” Hodge
Donna “Big Mama” Hodge, 45 of Huntington, passed away Feb. 22, 2006. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville. Burial in Blue Sulphur Cemetery. She was born June 23, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio, beloved daughter of Edgar Hodge of Cleveland, and the late Wilma Conley Hodge. She was the loving mother of Tracy and Phillip Hodge and her dog, Herman; wonderful sister of James, Pamela, and Kellie Hodge of Cleveland; wonderful aunt of Frankie, Amanda, Ronnie, Joey, Russell James and Jessie; best friend of Sonny Marcum, Bobbie Jumper and Steve “Poppy” Black and was loved by many others. You will be always.

Robert Lee Young
Robert Lee Young, 76, of Ona, W.Va., passed away, Wednesday, February 22, 2006. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 26, 2006, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. Jamie Jefferson. Burial in Forest Memorial Park. He was born November 19, 1929, in Fayette County, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles and Nannie Shuck Young. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Rodebaugh Young; one daughter, Linda Young of Ona; three sons, Michael and Kim Young of Florida and their children, Dustin and Katie; Rodney and Vicki Young of Ona, and their children, Heather and Scott Berry, and their children, Ethan and Kaitlyn, Christina and Chris Lockhart, and their son, Michael, and Serena and Jeremy Sarver and their children, Dylan and Lily; and Kevin Young of Barboursville. Also surviving are a close family friend Bill Carpenter; two sisters, Gertrude Small of Louisiana, and Maureen Small of Lookout, W.Va.; and one brother, Loren Young of Fayetteville, W.Va. military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion Post 139, Milton.

Cebert Elton Bias
Cebert Elton Bias, 80, of Barboursville, W.Va., died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service were conducted Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the Christus Mausoleum Chapel of White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, by the Rev. Richard Black. He was born May 12, 1925, in Boone County, West Virginia, son of the late Frank and Vonnie Hill Bias. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post #9097. Mr. Bias is survived by his wife, Vieva Lamp Bias; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Moore of Ona, Diana and Chuck Hatten of Huntington and Debby and Darrell Wellman of Prichard, W.Va.; one brother, Sylvester Bias of Danville, W.Va.; five grandsons, five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters. In lien lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Huntington.

Thomas Ellery Conley, Jr
Thomas Ellery Conley, Jr., infant son of Thomas Ellery and Heather Nicole Conley of Salt Rock, died Sunday, February 19, 2006. Graveside services were conducted Friday, February 24, 2006, at Forest Memorial Park, Milton, by the Rev. Richard Black. Also surviving are maternal grandparents, Myra and Tim Adkins of East Lynn, W.Va., and Bill Ferguson of Proctorville, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Howard and Connie Conley of Salt Rock; maternal great-grandparents, Betty and Ed Ferguson of Proctorville, Mack and Goldie Adkins of East Lynn; paternal great-grandparents, Lue and Rosie Scarberry of Salt Rock and Betty Conley of Altizer, Huntington, W.Va.; and a host of aunts, uncle, and friends. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Jean Ann Grant
Jean Ann Grant, 68 of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 24, 2006 at Beard Mortuary with the Rev. Greg Creasy officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born August 10, 1937, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank William and Reba Lewis Darnell. Jean retired as a manager from Gino’s Pizza, Milton, with 28 years of service; she then worked for Heck Funeral Home for 10 years. She was a member of the Milton Woman’s Club and Milton Business Association. She attended the Church In The Valley while living in Milton. She is survived by her loving family, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Hallie Gould and Kitsy and Dwayne Gibson, all of Huntington; her nieces and nephews who fondly called her “Aunt Gee Gee”, Dru Farmer, Toni Cleveland, Hallie “Tuffy” Gould, Franky Gould, Matt Gould, Chad Gould, Terri Schofield, Cheryl Jordan and Rob Howard. Her grand-nieces and -nephews, Bradley, Mollie, Gage, Jayce, Chantz, Kadin, Zach, Bailey, Chasity, Shawnell, Sarah and Robbie, a great-grandniece, Anna and a host of friends.

Frieda Pearl Adkins
Frieda Pearl Adkins, 72, of Lesage, wife of Harold Adkins Sr., died Friday in St. Mary’s Medical Center. In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Karen Lee Hendrick, Darla Jean Adkins and Cynthia Dawn Adkins, all of Lesage; one son, Harold “Bud” Adkins Jr. of Milton; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two step-grandchildren. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cox’s Landing United Methodist Church; burial in Greenbottom Memorial Park. Arrangements by Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington.

Larry Marvin Sawyers
Larry Marvin Sawyers, 57, of Huntington passed away Friday, April 21, 2006, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Manfred Langer. Burial in Baylous Cemetery. He was born July 9,1948, in Cabell County, a son of the late Troy and Louise Burdette Sawyers. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Grant and JoAnn Holton, and one brother, Steven Sawyers. He was owner and operator of Sawyers Trucking and was a Viet Nam veteran serving in the US Army. He is survived by one daughter, Laran Arthur and her husband Troy of Inglis, Fla.; one son, Troy Sawyers and his wife Cheryl, of Olive Hill, Ky.; two grandchildren, Troy Jacob “TJ” Arthur and Brenna Arthur, one step-grandson, Nathan Fultz; his business partner and friend, Sharon Amburgey; his companion, Brenda Muncy; two sisters, Janet Stephens and Laura Adkins; three brothers, Frank, Rodney and Jerry Sawyers; seventeen nieces and sixteen nephews. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

John Melvin Hundley
John Melvin Hundley, 90, of Lesage, W.Va., formerly of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006. He was born June 8, 1915, in Bassett, Va., a son of the late Robert Thomas and Jessie Maude Clark Hundley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Boyd Hundley. He is survived by three daughters, Pam Lykins and her husband Clarence of Lesage, Barbara Reed of Chesapeake, Va., and Shirley Yeatts of Bowie, Md.; one son, John L. Hundley and his wife Dolly of Stuart, Va.; two sisters, Crystal Clarke and her husband Norvelle of Fieldale, Va., and Sue Perdue of Rocky Mountain, Va.; two brothers, Benford Hundley and his wife Christine, and Douglas Hundley and his wife Frances, all of Martinsville, Va.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 21, 2006, at the Twiford Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake, Va. Burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk, Va.
Sherry Lynn Tassen
Sherry Lynn Tassen, 52, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Friday, April 14, 2006, at home. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 20, 2006, at White Chapel Mausoleum, Barboursville, by the Rev. Greg Creasy. She was born June 15, 1953, in Huntington, a daughter of Dolly Hedrick Garlick of Huntington and the late Ralph Garlick Sr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Mike Martin of Huntington, W.Va.; three sisters, Ann Cremeans of Florida, Carol Walls and Tammy Hager; three brothers, Kenneth Williams, James Williams and Wesley Williams, all of Huntington; three grandchildren, Breanna, Tyler and Haley Martin, whom she cherished; and several nieces and nephews. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Irene Alley
Phyllis Irene Alley, 65, of Chesapeake, Ohio, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died on Sunday, April 16, 2006, in Cabell Huntington Hospital, after a long illness. She was born January 17, 1941, in Milton, W.Va., a daughter of the late Virginia Harshbarger and Edward Lambert. She attended Charleston High School and has lived in Ohio for the past 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Steven L. Alley Sr., of Chesapeake; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Gene Bragg of South Point, Ohio, Amy and Jason Isaacs of Chesapeake and Cherri Alley of Barboursville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Mitzi Wolfe of Cross Lanes, W.Va., Robert and Michele Wolfe of Hollywood, Fla., and Steven Alley Jr. and Susan of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren, Michael Mannon, Bryan and Kristy Bragg, Jamon and Holli Wolfe, Ashley Wolfe, Mackenzie and Riley Isaacs, Ryan and Ashley Alley, Nathan Strunk and Hayden Blankenship; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Brooke Mannon. Phyllis enjoyed her role as homemaker and loved cooking, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed crafts, making quilts for her grandchildren, and had an active role with the Chesapeake High School athletics. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her, and the memories and precious moments shared will last forever. Memorial services were conducted Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Barboursville Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig Coster officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Society or Huntington City Mission. Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of arrangements.
