Joshua Matthew Davis
Beverly, OH

Joshua Matthew Davis, 19, of State Route 83,
Beverly, fought a brave and valiant battle
with cancer and won the triumphant victory,
having gone home to be with his heavenly
Father (June 24, 2013).

He was born in Marietta on Jan. 31, 1994, a
son of Michael Ray and Christy R. Britton
Davis. Joshua attended the Faith Joy
Fellowship Church and he enjoyed playing video
games and drawing artwork.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by
his brother, Joseph M. Davis at home; his
paternal grandparents, Merlin and Patty Davis
of Pennsville, Ohio; maternal grandparents,
David and Diane Britton of Marietta; uncles,
John (Loretta) Davis of Pennsville and Jason
Britton of Marietta; aunts, Angela (Ted)
Honeycutt in Arkansas, Melissa (CD) Newbrough
of Marietta, Jennifer (Keith) Erb of
Harrietsville, Ohio, and Nicole Britton of
Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several cousins.

There will be a memorial service at a later
date at the convenience of the family.

Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services of
Parkersburg is assisting the family.

Narcissus W. Mills
Oak Hill, OH

Narcissus W. Mills, 86, of Oak Hill, Ohio,
passed away June 24, 2013, at Holzer Medical
Center, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Narcissus was born April 3, 1927, in Ritchie
County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Carl
Wilson and Lulu Pearl Fortney Wilson.

She was a long-time member of Elizabeth Church
of Christ, loved being a homemaker and also
had owned and operated Mt. Vernon Business
College along with her husband, Oran. She was
also a former member of the Brohard Community
Club.

She is survived by her son, Gregory (Jessie)
Mills of Oak Hill, Ohio; her grandchildren,
Derrick and Brandon Mills, Kelly Rieser, Emily
(Federico Gambina) Neymeyer, Sarah Neymeyer
and Oran Lewis Wolfgrass Irwin; and great-
grandchildren, Kylee Mills and David Gambina.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, Oran Dale Mills; her daughter, Susan
Ann Mills; and eight brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Kimes
Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and
the funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday
at the funeral home, with Evangelist Eugene
Conger officiating. Burial of Ashes will
follow at the family's convenience at
Wolverton Cemetery in Wirt County, W.Va.

Nellie Leone (Thompson) Somerville
Parkersburg, WV

Nellie Leona (Thompson) Somerville, 89, of
Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on
June 22, 2013, after her battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Rockport, a
daughter of the late Homer and Missouri Young
Thompson.

Nellie attended 14th Avenue Gospel Mission
Church but was a member of Evangelical
Methodist Church on Gihon Road. She also
attended Calvary Memorial Church on occasion.

Surviving include her husband of 70 years,
Kermit L. Somerville, are her son-in-law, Jim
(Pam) Wine; grandchildren, Todd Wine, Lisa
(Mike) Carpenter and Angela Root; great-
grandchildren, Eric and Whitney Wine, Cody
Kerns, Austin and Chelsey Root and Adam and
Noah Carpenter; great-great-grandchildren,
Madison Wine, Trace, Peyden and Charliegh-Ann
and Cali Kerns; two brothers, Grover and
Truman Thompson; and five sisters, Chloe
Batten, Georgia Thompson, Oncie Archer, Dora
Dawson and Helen Lockhart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her only child, her daughter,
Evelyn L. Wine; a brother, William Thompson;
and a sister, Etta Ingram.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Tim Burch will officiate
and burial will follow at Evergreen South
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8
p.m. today and one hour prior to the service
on Wednesday.

The family requests donations be made to
cancer research

John Denzil Lyons
Parkersburg, WV

John Denzil Lyons, 88, of Parkersburg, passed
away June 11, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical
Center.

He was born July 25, 1924, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Rev. James M. and Hazel Smith
Lyons. Dennie was a 1942 graduate of PHS and
had served in the U.S. Army 17th Airborne
Division as a Paratrooper. He was employed at
Electro Met in Marietta for 25 years as shift
foreman in the Chrome Department, retiring in
1986. Following his retirement, he worked at
Dudley's Florist as a delivery man for 10
years, a job he loved and enjoyed meeting new
people. Dennie was a long-time member of
Trinity United Methodist Church. He had been a
member of the Fort Neal Kiwanis Club and the
United Methodist Men. He enjoyed hunting,
traveling (all 50 states, the Holy Land and
Europe), was active with the Local Honey
Festival, loved the "Florida Boys" Quartet and
was a Cincinnati Reds Fan.

Surviving are his wife, Margie L. Whited
Lyons; one daughter, Linda Lyons (Steve)
Mahaffey of Parkersburg; three grandchildren,
Julia (J.R.) Maloney of Parkersburg, Kevin
(Sarah) Mahaffey of Parkersburg and Kristi
Mahaffey (Joe) Benbow of Chambersburg, Pa.;
and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Maloney,
Lauren Maloney, Lauren Benbow and Ryan Benbow,
with one expected in September, Elijah
Mahaffey. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by an infant brother, Buddy
Lyons, and his son, Dr. John David Lyons in
1999.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m.
Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th
Street, Parkersburg. The Rev. Robert Riffle
and Pastor Dave Stilgenbauer will officiate
and burial will follow at the Evergreen South
Cemetery with military rites conducted by the
American Legion Post #15. The visitation will
be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, and an
hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Ira "Ike" Delano Farley
Parkersburg, WV

Ira "Ike" Delano Farley, 79, of Parkersburg,
passed away June 10, 2013, at Camden Clark
Medical Center.

He was born March 25, 1934, at True, W.Va., a
son of the late Claude and Kathryn Shrewsbury
Farley. He was of the Baptist Faith, was a
U.S. Air Force Veteran and had retired from
Universal Glass, later named Diamond Glass. He
enjoyed playing pool and was known as
the "Magic Man" for playing tricks.

Surviving are three sons, Delano (DC) Farley
of Parkersburg, Brigham D. Farley of Sierra
Vista, Ariz., and Michael A. Farley stationed
at Ellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev.;
one daughter, Kathlyn J. Shepler in North
Carolina; 16 grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.; a loving sister, Virginia
Paris Gadd Tedrow of Texas and Pipestem,
W.Va., near Hinton; and several nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Doris R.
Farley;
infant twin sons, Alvin and Kelvin Farley;
three brothers, James, Ed and Oliver Farley;
and a sister, Arlis Marks.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
Pastor Jerry Caplinger will officiate and
burial will follow at the Rockland Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8
p.m.

Helen Annalee Adams
Parkersburg, WV

Helen Annalee Adams, 84, of Parkersburg,
passed away June 8, 2013, at her daughter
Rebecca's home.

She was born April 21, 1929, in Parkersburg, a
daughter of the late Charles Edward McPherson
and Margaret Juanita Byrd Vandergrift. Helen
was a graduate of PHS and was a member of the
7th Street United Methodist Church. She had
been an employee of The Guard Cleaners,
Parkersburg Day Care and Misty Manufacturing.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the
American Legion. She enjoyed shopping,
Fashion, her pet poodle dogs and her pet cats.

Surviving is her son, Jerry D. (Sherry)
Hamilton of Parkersburg, and her daughter,
Rebecca Henderson of Parkersburg; one step-
son, Mike (Linda) Adams of Michigan; two step-
daughters, Vicki Lynn Adams and Kimberly Sue
Adams, both of Parkersburg; five
grandchildren, Trina Hamilton-Abbott, Kevin
(Sabrina) Henderson, Leanna Henderson-Robinson
(Joseph), Katy Hamilton and Christy Hamilton;
three step-grandchildren, Michael (Taryn)
Adams, Dietra Adams and Brooke (David)
Drennen; numerous great and step-great-
grandchildren; a half brother, Richard; three
half sisters, Joy, Joan and Jo; and her step-
mother, Marion McPherson of Walker. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by husbands, Stanley Hamilton, Arthur
Marlow and Tom Adams.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, Rev. Kathi Ambler will officiate
and burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel
Cemetery in Parkersburg. The visitation will
be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and an hour
prior to the service on Thursday.
