James Willard Mitchell, 78, of Williamstown,
passed away Sept. 27, 2014, at the Nellas
Nursing Home in Elkins.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1935, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Raymond Allen and Sylvia Yoke
Mitchell.
James was a member of the Independent Baptist
Church in Vienna and had worked as a Machinist
for the Ideal Corrugated Box Factory, and also
worked as a Securist at Kramer Iron and Steel.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served
during the Korean War time.
Surviving are two sons, Patrick (Carol)
Mitchell of Parkersburg and Brian K. Mitchell
of Mineral Wells; two daughters, Patricia Ann
Davis of Williamstown and Roberta J. (Joe)
Johnson of Vienna; five grandchildren, Heather
(Mike) Butcher, Rachel Davis, Chris Davis,
Jessica Wills and Rebecca (Craig) Burwell;
four great-grandchildren, Joey Butcher, James
Tanner, Hunter Burwell and Caleb Wills; one
brother, Russell Mitchell of Washington; a
step-brother, Harold Mitchell of Parkersburg;
a step-sister, Patty Richards of Parkersburg;
and two sisters-in-law, Edith Mitchell and
Faith Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou
Leisure; and two brothers, William Mitchell
and Charles Raymond Mitchell.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Kimes Funeral Home.
Pastor Michael Elder will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The
visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
today at the funeral home.

Nursing Home in Elkins for their care and
concern while Mr. Mitchell was a resident

Arthur B. Logan, 95, of Chicago,
Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Sept.
16, 2014, at his residence at The
Clare.
He was born in Parkersburg, on Nov.
14, 1918, the oldest son of the late
Arthur C. and Pearl L. (Cooper)
Logan.
Arthur was a World War ll Navy
Veteran and had retired from W.H.
Miner Company. He was a member of and
volunteered at The Art Institute of
Chicago and The Lyric Opera of
Chicago. He traveled around the world
with The Great Performance Tours of
New York. He was an avid listener of
opera and had a vast collection of
antiques and paintings.
He is survived by his sister-in-law,
Betty Fleming Logan; and several
nieces and nephews, Richard Duffield
of Parkersburg, Michael Logan of
Garner, N.C., Rebecca Duffield Law of
Parkersburg, Arthur Logan of
Cornelius, N.C., Greg Logan of
Garner, N.C., Charles Logan of
Cincinnati, Ohio, Roger Duffield of
Parkersburg, and Judy Logan Ryan of
Mt. Airy, Md. He is also survived by
several great-nieces and nephews. In
addition to his parents, he is
preceded in death by his sister,
Margaret Duffield; his brother, James
Logan; niece, Connie Logan Vannoy;
and brother-in-law, Charles Duffield.
The family would like to thank The
Clare and Wisdom Eldercare for their
kind and loving care.

Diana Renae Parker
Parkersburg, WV
Diana Renae Parker, 45, of Parkersburg, passed
away Sept. 6, 2014, at home unexpectedly.
She was born June 26, 1969, in Parkersburg, a
daughter of David L. Parker Sr. and Carol
Burdette Parker.
Diana had worked at several places in the
area, the last place of employment was at the
Blennerhassett Hotel-Housekeeping Department.
She enjoyed singing karaoke.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by
her son, Bryan (Brittany) Underwood Jr. of
Vienna; and her grandchild, Peyton Underwood;
two brothers, David L. (Destiny) Parker Jr. of
Keyser, W.Va., and Christopher Allen (Ashley)
Parker of Vienna; two sisters, Belinda (Tom)
Knicely of Washington, W.Va., and Corrina
(Jospeh) Moore of Parkersburg; and several
nieces and nephews.
Diana will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Pastor
John Barker will officiate and burial will
follow at Cooley Chapel Cemetery. The
visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at
the funeral home.
Memorial contributions by be made to the
funeral home on behalf of the family to help
offset funeral costs.
Robert Board
Parkersburg, WV
Robert Board, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away Sept. 2, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1931, at Belleville, a
son of the late Opie Board Sr. and Garnet
Freeland Board. Robert retired from the A.B.
Chance Company after 28 years of service. He
enjoyed taking the kids to play baseball when
they were younger, enjoyed playing the guitar,
having played at some of the area High Rise
Apartments, and he enjoyed bluegrass music.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas "Tom" (Donna)
Board of Leachtown and Robert E. Board of
Parkersburg; two daughters, Penny Cain of
Parkersburg and Loretta (Chris) Martin of
Mineral Wells; six grandchildren, Kristen and
Darla Board, Chelsy and Cody Martin, Alisha
Shamblin and Frankie Cain II; and two great
grandchildren, Mikey and Gracie Shamblin; one
brother, Opie "Dick" Board of Mineral Wells; a
sister, Maxine Clark of Belleville and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Mildred Morris Board.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday, Sept. 5, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th St., Parkersburg. Pastor John Barker will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 3
to 7 p.m today.
Gene William (Doc) Townsend
Belleville, WV
Gene William (Doc) Townsend, 82, left his home
for his eternal one on Aug. 25, 2014,
surrounded by his loving family.
He is reunited with his youngest son, Steven
Floyd Townsend; his parents, Clarence T. and
Golden Swain Townsend; his sister, Carolyn;
and son-in-law, Jerry Fleak.
He left his home in Belleville, W.Va., that he
shared with his loving wife of 61 years, Betty
Jo Sellers Townsend.
Gene was born on May 21, 1932, at Belleville.
He graduated from Parkersburg High School, was
a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, retired
from DuPont in 1985, was a substitute mail
carrier for 11 years and was a lifetime Farmer.
He attended Belleville Baptist Church and was
a member of the Masons since 1968. He was a
lifetime member of the Farm Bureau, Modern
Woodmen, the American Legion and was a FFA
Alumni. He had also served on the board of the
Wood County Fair and the Belleville
Homecoming. He enjoyed farming, raising both
cattle and sheep. He was most devoted to his
job as husband and father.
Together, he and Betty Jo raised six children,
Randy (Babbie) Townsend, Sandra (Randy) Brown,
Candy (the late Jerry) Fleak, Daniel (Leslie)
Townsend and Pamela (Harry, "Bud") Van Matre,
all of Belleville, and Steven Floyd Townsend;
and 13 grandchildren, Steven Michael Townsend,
Krista (Brian) Bell, Cassie Brown, Jill
(Nathan) Joy, Lakita Fleak, Kendra Fleak and
Kaitlyn Fleak, all of Belleville, Andrew
Townsend of Little Rock, Ark., Alex Townsend,
Allie Townsend and Carrie (Jon) Lattimer of
Eden, S.C., Joshua (Brandi) VanMatre of Ruther
Glen, Va., and Nicole VanMatre of
Summersville, W.Va. He also has 11 great-
grandchildren who brought lots of joy to his
heart. Also surviving is his brother, Charles
(Pauline) Townsend; two sisters, Clara (the
late Virgil) McVey and Anna Lou (Roy) Buck,
all of Belleville; and many nieces, nephews
and cousins who he loved as well.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Randy Dornon will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from
1-8 p.m, Thursday at the funeral home.
