Roy Leland Boso
Lubeck, WV

Roy Leland Boso, 84, of the Lubeck Community,
passed away June 10, 2014, at Camden Clark
Medical Center.

He was born June 16, 1929, at Belleville, a
son of the late Clermont and Ora Wigal Boso.

Roy was a member of the Lubeck United
Methodist Church where he served as the church
Historian. He retired from DuPont with 32
years of service, and was among the original
founders of the Lubeck Volunteer Fire
Department where he had served as Treasurer.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War
and was a member of the VFW Post 1212.

Surviving is his wife, Betty Amos Boso; one
son, Larry (Kathy) Boso of Lower Salem, Ohio;
one daughter, Sharon Perdue of Lubeck, and her
former husband, Rick Perdue; six
grandchildren, Benjamin Perdue, Wesley (Jamie)
Perdue and Cameron (Wendy) Perdue, Brian Boso,
Matthew (Nikki) Boso and Aimee Boso; 10 great-
grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd Boso of
Little Hocking.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
Thursday, June 12, at the Lubeck United
Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Martin will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens with military rites conducted
by the American Legion Post #15. The
visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
today at Kimes Funeral Home, and an hour prior
to the service on Thursday, June 12, at the
church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Lubeck
Volunteer Fire Department or to the Lubeck
United Methodist Church in memory of Roy.

Ira Wood
Parkersburg, WV

Ira P. Wood, Jr. "Woody", passed away on June
10, 2014, at his Parkersburg home, of a sudden
illness. He was 87.

He had lived a distinguished life encompassing
service in the Navy during WW II where he
served aboard the Aircraft Carrier Rendova and
as a member of the Military Honor Guard for
President Harry Truman and Arlington
Ceremonies.

He was born in Parkersburg, on May 1, 1927, to
the late Ira P. Wood, Sr. and Hazel Watkins
Wood.

He graduated from Parkersburg High School in
1947, having been a member of the Championship
Big Red Football Teams, both before and after
returning from the service. He became an
International Brotherhood of Electrical Union
Member and was recently honored as a 65-year
veteran of Local #968.

In 1948, he married the late Esther Corine
Pilchard Wood, and were parents of two sons,
Gregory Allen Wood, Sr., and Gilbert Lee
(Norman Jean) Wood, and had two grandsons,
Gregory Allen Wood, Jr. and Thomas Clayton
Wood. He has two granddaughters, Amanda Hoover
and Stacey Wood; great-granddaughter, Erica
Seigal; and a great-great-grandson, Dexter
Seigal. He is also survived by his only
sister, Edelene Wood; and many other friends
and relatives, including a special caregiver,
Helen Null.

In his lifetime, he was a longtime member of
the Masonic Lodge, and at age 29, was the
youngest Lodge Master in West Virginia,
serving as Master of the Vienna Lodge, as well
as Worthy Patron of the Vienna Eastern Star.
For the past 29 years, he has been the
provider of an annual award honoring his
mother, Hazel Wood, a well known Appalachian
cook, along with his wife, who passed away in
1985. He and his wife's family were Charter
Members of The Emmanuel Baptist Church and are
pleased to have Rev. Dr. Kurt Busiek as
speaker for his funeral.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1
p.m. Friday, June 13, at Kimes Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery with
Masonic Rites provided by The Vienna Masonic
Lodge. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today,
and an hour prior to the service on Friday,
June 13. The American Legion, Post #15 of
Parkersburg, will be providing Military Honors
at the funeral home preceding the funeral
service.

John Workman
Vienna, WV

John Cecil Workman Jr., 64, of Vienna,
formerly of Wakefield Addition, passed away
June 7, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 1, 1949, at Lewisburg, Pa.,
a son of John Cecil Workman Sr. of Lewisburg
and the late Norma Dorman.

John worked at DuPont with the Blunt Brothers
Company and was a member of the Carpenters
Union. He enjoyed NASCAR and at one time had
enjoyed hunting and playing golf.

Surviving is his wife, Delores Workman; one
son, Greg Workman of Parkersburg; a daughter,
Kelly Workman and her fiance, Kenneth Sewell,
of Parkersburg; one sister, Beverly Reedy of
Lewisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is his former wife and mother
of his children, Mary Frances Workman, of
Parkersburg.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in
death by his second wife, Catherine E. "Cathy"
Cunningham Workman; and two brothers, Frank
and David Dorman.

There will be no funeral service or visitation.

Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services of

Parkersburg, WV

David Michael Woolard, 68, of Parkersburg,
passed away May 31, 2014.

Donald Dillon
Parkersburg, WV

Donald Earl (Big Don) Dillon 63 passed away
Sunday May 25, 2014.

He was born February 1, 1951 in Parkersburg a
son of the late Theodore G. Dillon and Mabel
V. Gray Dillon.

Donald was co-owner of Big Don's Sewer & Drain
Cleaning until he retired in 2008. He was a
former employee with Roto Rooter.
He was proud of being a PHS graduate and for
retaining the record for the indoor shot put
throw at PHS. He was a fan of the Cleveland
Browns and the Cincinnati Reds. Donald
attended the Spreading Truth Ministries.

Surviving are two sons, Richard (Rick) Dillon
and Donald E. (Bear) Dillon Jr. a daughter,
Rhonda Dawn Bailey a step daughter, Becky
Dillon. Sisters, Alice Flinn and Avis Rader.
He is also survived by several loving
grandchildren and his former wife, Julie
Dillon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his brothers, Charley Dillon and Ron
(R.C.) Dillon and sisters, Della Collins and
Norma West and his first wife, Cathy
Nesselroad.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM
Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th
Street, Pastor Ralph Tisdale will officiate.
There will be visitation on Wednesday from 4-8
PM and an hour prior to the service on
Thursday.

Eva Buchanan
Parkersburg, WV

Eva Ruth Buchanan, 68, of Parkersburg, passed
away at her home.

She was born June 12, 1945, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Arthur and Kathryn
Buchanan.

She had attended the Landmark Baptist Church.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. In
addition to her parents, she was preceed in
death by brothers, Don, Sonny and Buck; and
sisters, Freda, Bertie, Dorothy and Blanche.

A private memorial service will be held at the
convenience of the family. Burial of her ashes
will be at the Bethany Cemetery.

Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services is
assisting the family.

Monetary contributions may be made to the
funeral home to help the family with the cost
of expenses

Eva Ruth Buchanan
Parkersburg, WV

Eva Ruth Buchanan, 68, of Parkersburg, passed
away at her home.

She was born June 12, 1945, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Arthur and Kathryn
Buchanan.

She had attended the Landmark Baptist Church.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. In
addition to her parents, she was preceed in
death by brothers, Don, Sonny and Buck; and
sisters, Freda, Bertie, Dorothy and Blanche.

A private memorial service will be held at the

Darrell Herbert Sams
Parkersburg, WV

Darrell Herbert Sams, 83, of Parkersburg,
passed away May 18, 2014, at the Parkesburg
Care & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 27, 1931, at Butler, Ohio, a
son of the late Ira Hartzell and Alice Wigal
Sams.

Darrell was a member of South Parkersburg
Baptist Church. He retired from Shell Chemical
with 22 years of service and had also been
employed at the Wood County Airport for eight
years. He had served in the U.S. Air Force for
four years during the Korean War. Darrell was
a member of the American Legion and the
Squarenairs Square Dance Club. He enjoyed
golfing and camping.

Surviving is his wife, Wanda Jean Wigal Sams;
one brother, Ray (Bonnie) Sams of Mineral
Wells; one sister, Wilma Boso of Washington,
W.Va; nieces, Josette (Jerry) Palmer in
Michigan and Deidra (Bill) Fleak of Mineral
Wells; and nephews, Ted (Debbie) Boso and Tom
(Cheryl) Boso, both of Washington, W.Va., Tony
(Mollie) Boso of Belleville, Kermit (Sandra)
Hale of Parkersburg and Kenny (Amber) Hale of
Elizabeth. Also surviving is an uncle, Walter
Wigal of Parkersburg; brother and sister-in-
law, Jack and Betty Wilson of Wadesville;
brother-in-law, Clifton Reed of Parkersburg;
and his caregiver, Ruth Walker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by grandparents, Floyd and Pearl Wigal
and Heber and Letha Sams; an infant brother,
Richard Sams; brother-in-law, Melvin H. Boso;
and sister-in-law, Donna Wigal Reed.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Joe Busch will officiate
and burial will follow at Sunset Memory
Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-4 p.m.
and 6-8 p.m. today, and an hour prior to the
service on Wednesday.
