Leah Diehl, 87, Parkersburg, passed away Dec.
2, 2013, at Ohio Valley Health Care.
She was born Dec. 5, 1925, at Oil City, Pa., a
daughter of the late Harry C. and Mary A.
Kuhlr Jackson.
Leah was a former employee at Sears and
Roebuck, an active member of Stout United
Methodist Church, a former president of the
Camden Clark Hospital Auxiliary, and was
dearly loved by her late son and grandchildren.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Wesley
Diehl, Nathan Diehl, Timothy Diehl and
Jennifer White; and eight great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Edward Diehl; one
son, Edward W. Diehl; one brother, Floyd
Jackson; and four sisters, Louise Huff, Jenny
Stuck, Violet Hyde and Winifred Gibson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Dr. Paul Russell
officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from
11 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Roger Dale Byers
Parkersburg, WV
Roger Dale Byers Sr., 53, of Parkersburg,
passed away Dec. 1, 2013, at Ohio State
University Hospital.
Cremation services are being provided by Kimes
Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Mark Plechaty
Newport, OH
Mark Bedway Plechaty, 64, of Newport, Ohio,
passed away Thursday (Nov. 28, 2013) at
Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born at Gallipolis, Ohio, a son of the
late Joseph and Francis Bedway Plechaty.
Mark attended the St. Marys Catholic Church
and was very active in the AA Association.
He was a former employee of Atlas Steel,
worked as a commercial truck driver and was an
iron worker.
Mark was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the
Vietnam War, member of the VFW of Marietta,
the American Legion and Alcoholics Anonymous.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, riding
motorcycles and especially sharing chocolate
chip cookies with his grandson.
Surviving is his daughter, Danielle (Michael)
Bettinger of Newport and his grandson, Talon
Bettinger; two sisters, Joyce (Troy) Knight
and Tana Plechaty, both of Marietta.
He is also survived by his living brothers and
sisters of AA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a brother, Joseph Plechaty.
There will be a memorial service held at 6:30
p.m. today, at the VFW on Pike Street in
Marietta, Chaplain Bob Sinnett will officiate.
Kimes Funeral Home of Parkersburg is assisting
the family.
Kerry James Drennen
Parkersburg, WV
Kerry James Drennen, 57, of Parkersburg, went
to be with The Lord on Nov. 23, 2013, after a
long fight against multiple illnesses.
He was born June 16, 1956, in Ontario, Canada,
to Emery and Bobbi Jean (Weinberg) Drennen.
He was a member of New Heart Ministries in
Mineral Wells, W.Va., and was a self-employed
accountant.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharee
Richard Drennen; three sons, David (Brooke)
Drennen, Daniel (Roxianne) Drennen and Stephen
(Kelsie) Drennen, all of Parkersburg; one
daughter, Amy (Nathan) Jones of Wirt County;
one sister, Luanne (Timothy) Wiseman of
Parkersburg; and 11 grandchildren, who were
his pride and joy, Triston, Noah, Brooke, Eli,
Jonas, Seth, Aliesa, Logan, Landon, Roman and
Baby Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery
and Bobbie Jean Drennen; grandmother, Lulu
Anna Parchman; and granddaughter, Alexis
Drennen.
Kerry will always be remembered for loving
everyone he had ever met. He had been given
many titles throughout his life including
athlete, champion, horse enthusiast, coach,
teacher, minister, Pastor, accountant,
chairman, Girl Scout leader, tour bus guide,
mountaineer, friend, brother, son, husband,
father, grandfather and most importantly,
hero. He also had a habit of adopting every
stray animal he found.
Kerry has finally earned another title, Dearly
Departed.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor William Cottrell
officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-
4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with
burial at Two Run Baptist Church Cemetery in
Wirt County.
Regina Dale Chichester Chaney, 86, of
Parkersburg, passed away Nov. 20, 2013, at her
home.
She was born March 9, 1927 in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Walter T. and Rosa Dessel
Collins Chichester.
Regina was a 1945 graduate of PHS and was a
member of the Stout Memorial United Methodist
Church.
She was a former employee of Kikeffer
Container Factory, Goldsmit-Black and the
Mountain Heritage Credit Union.
She enjoyed Traveling, Quilting and Painting.
Surviving is her husband, Jerry Lindley
Chaney; four sons, Jerry Dean (Eva Anette)
Chaney of Falls View, W.Va., David Lindley
Chaney of Beaver, W.Va., Walter Garfield
(Cherie Regina) Chaney and Wesley Dale
(Karrie) Chaney both of the Charlottsville,
Va. area; two daughters, Rita Jeanne (Steven)
Daugherty of the Dallas, Texas area and Diane
Rose (Robert) Flenner of Nitro, W.Va.; 12
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;
one brother, Gerl (Judy) Chichester of
Waterford, Ohio; one sister, Hattie Arlene
Carlson of Marino Valley, Calif.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by a brother, William T. Chichester
and a sister, Betty McBride.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, at the Stout Memorial United
Methodist Church, 3329 Broad Street,
Parkersburg, Rev. Paul Russell and Pastor Dean
Ash will officiate and burial will follow at
Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.
The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg and at the church one hour prior
to the service.
