Ann Lucille Kerns, 61, of Belpre, Ohio, passed
away Nov. 20, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 1, 1952, in Olney, Md., a
daughter of the late Eugene and Marie Williams
Cepelones. Ann had attended the Landmark
Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She
enjoyed Bible programs on Television.
Surviving is her husband, Danny L. Kerns Sr.;
two sons, Danny L.(Samantha Duley) Kerns, Jr.,
and William Kerns both of Parkersburg; two
daughters, Angela Cochran of Hagerstown, Md.
and Dawn Moore of Laurel, Md.; nine
grandchildren, Kyleiy Ann, Cayden James,
Dont'e, Kevin, Jake, Donovan, Scarlett, Lucy
and Owen; two brothers, Paul Thomas Cepelones
of Fairmont and John Cepelones in Florida.;
two sisters, Jeannie Lucy of Hagerstown, Md.
and Irene Butcher of St. Leonard, Mo. and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a twin infant
brother.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.
Sunday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, Rev. Verlin Camp will officiate
and burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill
Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Saturday from 4-8
p.m. and one hour prior to the service on
Sunday.
Vernon Hoover James
Parkersburg, WV
Vernon Hoover James, 96, of Parkersburg,
passed away Nov. 5, 2013, at his home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1917 at Chesterville in
Wood County, a son of the late Charles Sanford
and Eva Dale Hoover James.
Vernon was a graduate of PHS, Mountain State
Business College and had attended the
University of Pittsburgh.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in
World War II and the Korean War and being the
recipient of 7 Battle Stars and 8 Combat
Ribbons.
Vernon had retired from the City of
Parkersburg Water Department with 23 and a
half years of service. He had also served as a
Baptist Minister for over 30 years with the
Southern Baptist Convention.
Surviving is his daughter, Judith Anne
Reynolds of Parkersburg; three grandchildren,
Parkersburg City Councilman, Michael Adam
Reynolds, Tammy (Dan) Kelley and Dianna
(Brian) Matthews; nine great grandchildren,
Cory, Carson and Carter Reynolds, Justin
Taylor, Karly Hunt, and Brayden Hunt, Hayden
Barroughs, Kayla Dotson and Christina Dotson;
one sister, Edna Life of Parkersburg and many
nieces and nephews..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Gladys Marie Brown James;
brothers, Rex D., Archie, William K. and Gale
K. James; sisters, Nina Marie Bonnett and
Margaret Miracle and son-in-law, Maynard
Reynolds.
Vernon opened his home for the past 15 years
for an in-home Bible Study led by his pastor,
Bob Alfred. He looked forward to those Tuesday
evenings of study and fellowship around the
table.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg, Pastor Bob Alfred will
officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen
North Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4-
8 p.m. today.

Trevor Ray Brown
Parkersburg, WV
Trevor Ray "Peanut" Brown, two and a half
month old, son of Tabitha Barker and Richard
Allen Brown of Parkersburg, passed away Oct.
26, 2013, at home.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by
a brother, Troy Brown and a sister, Jannie
Brown, both at home.
Paternal grandparents, Lydia Brown and Johnny
Anderson, both of Parkersburg, and maternal
grandparents, Lori Barker and Kenny Barker,
both of Parkersburg.
There will be a funeral service held at 11
a.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth Street, Parkersburg, Pastor Michael Lamb
will officiate and burial will follow at the
Shiloh Cemetery. The visitation will be from 6-
8 p.m. today.
Carel Alvedore Cox
Parkersburg, WV
Carel Alvedore "Jack" Cox Jr., 95, of
Parkersburg, passed away Oct. 17, 2013, at the
Ohio Valley Health Care Center.
He was born April 28, 1918 in Wood County, a
son of the late Carel A. Cox Sr. and Ethel
DeVaughan Cox.
Jack was a self-employed carpenter having
worked for various places. He enjoyed
woodworking and had been a member of the West
Augusta Historical and Geneological Society.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II,
having attained the rank of Technical
Sergeant. He served his country from March 10,
1941 and was Honorably discharged June 6,
1945, 45 days before the war ended. While
serving in the Army, he received the Good
Conduct medal, The Bronze Star and the
European African Middle Easlern Service Medal.
Surviving are three sons, Larry W. (Peggy) Cox
of Waterford, Ohio, Roger D. (Jackie) Cox of
Charleston, and Randy E. (Alma) Cox of
Parkersburg; two daughters, Judith K. Hayes of
Parkersburg and Linda L. (Mike) Bennett of
Eleanor, W.Va.; son-in-law, Bill Packard of
Washington; grandchildren, Marc Packard, Matt
Packard, Stephanie Roberts, Rodney Cox, Cathy
Prunty, John Hayes, Andy Cox, Ryan Cox, Teri
Graves and Nic Bennett; 12 great-
grandchildren; one sister, Lurana Weser of
Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Eulah Fay Eaton Cox; a
daughter, Janet Packard; a son-in-law, Earl M.
Hayes, Jr.; a brother, Earl Cox; and two
sisters, Georgia Whitecotton and Amy Brookover.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg. Pastor Doug Guinn will
officiate and burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be on
Sunday from 4-7 p.m., and on Monday one hour
prior to the service.
The family would like to espress their thanks
fo the Ohio Valley Health Care Center and to
the Private Care Givers for the love and care
shown to him during his illness.
Ruth Eileen Carroll
Davisville, WV
Ruth Eileen Carroll, 80, of Davisville, passed
away Oct. 15, 2013, at her home.
She was born June 25, 1933 at Coolville, Ohio,
a daughter of the late John F. and Garnett
Heiney Creamer.
Ruth was of the Nazarene Faith, was a
homemaker and had worked as a Care Giver.
She enjoyed flower gardening and loved
spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Gary (Trish) O'Neal of
Pensacola, Fla. and Danny (Suki) O'Neal of
Shirley, Mass.; three daughters, Gail (Bob)
Vensel of Davisville, Debbie (Mitch) Newbanks
of Windermere, Fla., and Ronda (Lan) Redman of
Franklin, W.Va.; several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; and brother, Russell
(Iris) Creamer of Litchfield, Ohio. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Robert T. "Bob" Carroll;
and a brother, Donald "Clair" Creamer.
There will be no public service or visitation,
however, there will be a family graveside
service on Friday at the Stewart Cemetery at
Hockingport, Ohio. Pastor John Barker will be
speaking.
Kimes Funeral Home of Parkersburg is assisting
