Larry Dean Cox, 59, of Parkersburg, passed
away Jan. 20, 2015.

There will be no services at this time, and no
visitation.

Emma Opal Houchin
Parkersburg, WV

Emma Opal Houchin, 92, of Parkersburg, passed
away Jan. 19, 2015, at her son's home in
Ravenswood, where she had been residing.

She was born July 23, 1922, at Reedy in Roane
County, a daughter of the late William Donald
and Rhoda Ann Nay Garrett.

Opal was a homemaker and member of the Cedar
Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She had been a
member of the Jefferson Baptist Temple for 25
years prior to that, and she had more recently
attended the Lauckport Baptist Church. She had
also been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of
Cedar Grove Freewill and Jefferson Temple.

Surviving is her son, William Granville (Judy)
Whited of Ravenswood; a step-daughter, Sharon
Kay Jones of Newark; a step-daughter-in-law,
Margie Houchin of Williamstown; four
grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and
several great, step-great, and great-great-
grandchildren; two brothers, Donald B. Garrett
of Ashville, Ohio, and Ray Garrett of Spencer,
W.Va; one sister, Hope Bragg of Akron, Ohio; a
sister-in-law, Ruth (Ralph) Bennett of
Washington, W.Va.; and several nieces and
nephews. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Ray
H. "Pete" Houchin; her step-son, Charles
Ray "Chuck" Houchin; her step-son-in-law,
Homer Jones, Jr.; and three brothers, Charles,
Earl, and Floyd Garrett.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.,
Friday, Jan. 23, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor David
Long and Pastor Robert Webb officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on
Thursday, Jan. 22, at the funeral home.

Rebecca Sue Nichols
Parkersburg, WV

Rebecca Sue Nichols, 72, of Parkersburg,
passed away into God's loving arms on Jan. 17,
2015, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 21, 1942, in Spencer, W.Va.,
the daughter of Orville C. Cox and Geraldine
Mace Cox.

Becky graduated from Charleston High School
and received her B.S. degree from Glenville
State College. She worked as an x-ray
technician and rose to administrative
positions at West Virginia University
Hospitals, Minnie Hamilton Health System and
other medical facilities.

In her youth Becky was a lifeguard and
participated in ballet and modern dance. She
loved nature, camping, working with crafts and
traveling with her husband Larry and family.
One of her favorite places was Knotts Island,
N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Nichols;
daughter, Wendy Kedward; granddaughter, Ashley
Kedward; brother, Stephen Cox (Karen); and
nephews Chris Cox (Tara and family) and David
Cox.

Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services is
assisting the family. A family memorial
service will be held at a later date.

Reggie Johnson
Little Hocking, OH

Reggie Johnson, 57, of Little Hocking, Ohio,
died Jan. 14, 2015.

He was born Dec. 15, 1957, in Greenville, Ky.,
a son of the late Carl and June Johnson.

Reggie worked for Joe Wallace Construction. He
was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing
and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; his
daughter, Sherry (Bryan) Valentine of
Parkersburg; grandchildren, Peyton and Paige
Matlack and Gavin and Aiden Valentine;
brothers, Rick (Candy) Johnson of Vincent,
Ohio, and Perry (Kim) Johnson of Frankfort,
Ky.; sisters, Trennia (Robert) Harris of Long
Bottom, Ohio, and Denese (Mark) Riffle of
Orange Park, Fla.; and several nieces and
nephews. Reggie was preceded in death by his
parents; and a sister, Kim Johnson.

In keeping with Reggie's wishes, there will be
no services

Charlotte Eileen Brookover
Winding Heights, WV

Charlotte Eileen Brookover, 86, of the Winding
Heights Community, passed away Jan. 14, 2015,
at her home.

She was born June 16, 1928, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Thomas and Mary E. Steed
Skarry.

Charlotte was a long time active member of the
Jefferson Baptist Temple and had served Wood
County as a Justice of the Peace, along with
her late husband, Carl Brookover. She enjoyed
crochet, carpenter work, and she loved her
animals.

Surviving are five sons, Mike (Peggy)
Brookover, Carl W. III (Helen) Brookover,
William (Maya) Brookover, Robert (Lisa)
Brookover, and Gary Brookover, all of
Parkersburg; seven daughters, Sharon Whitesel,
Violet (Bud) Persell, Mary Matthews, and
Sandra Henthorn, all of Parkersburg, Carol
(William) Keffer of Mineral Wells, Bethel Peck
of Walker, and Mildred Queen of South
Carolina; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-
grandchildren; and three great-great-
grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, Carl
Brookover in 1977; a daughter, Diane Miller; a
son, Charles "Chuck" Brookover; a
granddaughter, Jessica Brookover; and two
brothers, Thomas and Billy Skarry.

The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on
Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Jefferson Baptist
Temple. Pastors Jerry Caplinger, and Ronnie
Hendershot will be speaking and burial will
follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The
visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday,
Jan. 16, at Kimes Funeral Home, and an hour
prior to the service on Saturday, Jan. 17, at
the church.

The family would like to express thanks to
Housecalls Hospice, to the Wood County Senior
Citizens, with special thanks to Trudy
Mahoney, and also special thanks to Joyce
Wolfe for helping to care for Charlotte.

Emogene Hicks
Parkersburg, WV

Emogene Hicks, 81, of Parkersburg, passed away
Jan. 13, 2015, at Camden Clark Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Parkersburg, a
daughter of the late Charles and Nancy Ross
Chaddock.

Emogene was a member of the Grace Gospel
Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving is her son, Delbert A. (Cynthia)
McClung of Vincent, Ohio; three daughters,
Sherrie Lynn Chaddock and Tammy (Mark) Boise,
both of Parkersburg, and Carol Louise (Dale)
McMahon of Lubeck; five grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren; four brothers,
Roger and Larry Chaddock, both of Pennsboro,
David Chaddock in Georgia, and Mark Chaddock
in Harrisville; and two half sisters, Barbara
Chaddock and Tammy Davis. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by a
daughter, Emogene Wolfe; four sisters,
Gretchen, Susan, Kathleen, and Belinda; and a
brother, Charlie.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.,
Friday, Jan. 16, at Kimes Funeral Home. Rev.
Roger Benson and Sterling Ball will be
speaking and burial will follow at the Neale-
Cook Cemetery in Vienna. The visitation will
also be on Friday, Jan. 16, beginning at 10
a.m.

William Stanley Meriwether
Parkersburg, WV

William Stanley Meriwether, 81, of
Parkersburg, passed away Jan. 11, 2015, at the
Willows Center.

There will be no visitation or service at this
time.

William Ritchie Cade
Parkersburg, WV

William Ritchie (Rick) Cade, at the age of 59,
died suddenly at Camden Clark Medical Center,
on Jan. 10, 2015.

He was born Feb. 28, 1955, in Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandparents, William M. Cade and Gladys M.
Cade; his aunt, Debra J. Cade; his maternal
grandfather, Richie W. Amos; and one brother,
Duane Alan Cade. He is survived by his
children, Jason M. Cade (Kimberly) of Vincent,
Ohio, Jessica D. Gregory (Brandon) of St.
Marys, W.Va., and Heather M. Felton (Harvey)
of Fly, Ohio; step-children, Gregory Moore of
Slady Fork, W.Va., Treva Richards (Gary) of
Median, W.Va.; one grandmother, Doris Mabel
Amos; parents, Billy D. and Martha L. Cade;
one brother, Daniel and wife, Sherry Cade, of
Belleville, W.Va.; two sisters, Tamera and
husband, Steve Johnson, of Lowell, Ohio, and
Lori and husband, Jeff Ruble, of Washington,
W.Va.; one special uncle, Gary Cade of
Parkersburg; and several grandchildren, step-
grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

"Rick" as he was known to family and friends,
worked as a truck driver most of his adult
life and was employed by Select Energy. He
loved the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He
was known for his great big hugs.

The arrangements are being made by Kimes
Funeral Home and "A Celebration of Life" will
be held at 1 p.m., Feb. 7, at the Porterfield
Baptist Church in Porterfield, Ohio. Family
and friends are invited to bring a covered
dish, their favorite memories, and photographs

Nina L Brown
Parkersburg, WV

Nina L. Brown went home to her Lord, parents,
brothers, and sister, on Jan. 7, 2015. After
several years of illness, Nina (a soprano),
her mother (an alto), her sister, Nada
(soprano), and her brother, Vernon (a tenor),
will join her in the Alleluia Chorus.

Nina was born to Valdred and Clara Brown, on
April 14, 1937, in Parkersburg.

She moved to Washington, D.C., and became a
licensed beautician there from 1956 to 1966.
She later became a licensed restorative
therapist and was a member of Logan Memorial
United Methodist Church, and sang in the
church choir as well as with the Voices of
Triumph. Nina was a local member and a
district officer of the United Methodist Women.

One of Nina's greatest accomplishments was
assisting in raising the Jones boys and the
McGraw girls, whom she loved and disciplined
as her own from their childhood through to
productive wonderful young adults. She was
very proud of them all.

Receiving her at the end of her earthly
journey, are her parents; her sister, Nada
Smith; and brothers, Valdred, Jr., Donald,
Stephen, Vernon, and Lloyd; as well as her
niece, Cheri; and her brother, Tim Brown.

She will be forever missed by her sister, Nona
M. Davis of Parkersburg; her brother, Barry T.
Brown, Sr., (Helen) of Belpre; sister,
Victoria Coleman (David) of Piedmont, W.Va.;
and her many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at
Kimes Funeral Home, and from 10-11 a.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 10, at Logan Memorial UM Church
at 6th and Ann Streets, with the service at 11
a.m. A bereavement lunch will be served.
Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.
