Mary Maxine Dolies, 93, of Vienna, passed away on Jan. 7, 2015, at the Worthington Manor
Nursing Home.
She was born on May 15, 1921, at Deep Valley,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Dow and Hattie
Smith Duty.
In 1938, she married Howard L. Zinn, who died in 1973. She later married Fred W. Dolies, who
died in 2013.
She graduated from Salem College in 1974.
After getting a degree at age 53, she enjoyed
a career as a Librarian and Teacher. She was
an accomplished Amateur Artist, painting rural
scenes and still lifes. She was a longtime
member of The Assemblies of God Church and a
strong Practitioner of Fundamental
Christianity.
She is survived by one son, Dane W. Zinn (Sue)
of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Deloris
Hughes (Bill) of Vienna; one step-daughter,
Jean Cowan (Dennis) of Ashland, Ohio; one
sister, Donna Wright of Clarksburg; seven
grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; several step-great-
grandchildren; several special nieces and
nephews; and a host of friends. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by a
brother, Mark Duty; and two sisters, Janet
Leggett and Callie Dotson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.,
Saturday, Feb. 14, at the River Valley
Community Church of The Nazarene in Vienna.

Parkersburg, WV
Gilbert Harold Merrill, 70, of Parkersburg,
passed away Jan. 3, 2015, at Eagle Point
Nursing Home.
He was born March 21, 1944, a son of the late
Gilbert Merrill Sr. and Virginia Grace Jenkins
Merrill.
There will be no service or visitation. Burial will be Monday at Hill Grove Cemetery in Wirt
County.

Lorena Belle Patterson
Parkersburg, WV
Lorena Belle Patterson, 81, a resident of
Eagle Pointe Nursing Home for the past 10
years, passed away Dec. 31, 2014, at Eagle
Pointe.
She was born Jan. 21, 1933, in Parkersburg, a
daughter of the late Frederick Basil and Chloe
Belle Kerr Allman.
Lorena had attended the Vienna Wesleyan
Church, was retired from G. C. Murphy Company
and she had received a Certificate in
Accounting. She was a member and former
officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and
she enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidering and
gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Russell Eugene
(Dottie) Patterson of Parkersburg and Gerald
Ray (Teresa) Patterson of Columbus, Ohio; four
daughters, Gloria (Jeffery) McClung of
Catlettsburg, Ky., Sandra (Tony) Wires of
Parkersburg, Loretta Cale of Belpre and
Colleen (Joel) Corbin of Indianapolis, Ind.; a
granddaughter that she raised, Chasitty
Patterson of Charleston; ten additional
grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; two
brothers, Carl Allman of Parkersburg and Fred
Allman of Pettyville; three sisters, Mary
Casto of Pettyville, Velma Beha, and Freda
Taylor, both of Parkersburg; and many nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by five brothers, Richard Allman,
Harold Allman, Virgil Allman, Benjamin Allman
and Clairden Allman and two sisters, Telma
Mitchell and Sicily Horner.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.,
Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Kimes Funeral Home.
Rev. Russell Wooten will officiate and burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The
visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 2 from 3-7
p.m. and one hour prior to the service on
Saturday.
Mary Cecelia Reed
Parkersburg, WV
Mary Cecelia Reed, 69, of Parkersburg, passed
away Dec. 30, 2014, at the Willows Nursing
Center.
She was born April 28, 1945, in Parkersburg,
the daughter of the late Mary Barnhouse.
Mary was a member of St. Margaret Mary
Catholic Church and was a Homemaker. She
enjoyed playing Buncko.
Surviving is her son, David F. (Julie) Reed of
Vienna; her daughter, Kristina Michele Myers
of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Gabrielle
Ariana Reed and Christopher Ryan Reed; and a
great-grandson, Raiden Timothy Reed; and one
brother, Larry Barnhouse of Philadelphia, Pa.
There will be no service or visitation at this
time.
There will be a graveside memorial service at
a later date at the convenience of the family
at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Charles Seaman

Charles Ray Seaman, 88, who resided with his
daughter, Amanda, of Indiana, passed away Dec.
21, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving
family.
Born Sept. 3, 1926, in Reedy, W.Va., he was
the son of the late Odie Hoyt and Opal S.
(Tennant) Seaman.
In 1948, Charles married Lillian "Geraldine"
(Beach) in Parkersburg, who preceded him in
death on Dec. 4, 2010.
Charles was a member of the Seymour Church of
Christ, formerly a member of the Sunrise
Church of Christ in Parkersburg. He retired
from DuPont in Washington, W.Va. in 1979. He
volunteered at two different hospitals in
Parkersburg, keeping a busy schedule. He was a
member of the Parkersburg Clown Club for 30
years, and was known as "Grampus". He was also
a volunteer with Citizens Patrol for the
Parkersburg Police Department for a number of
years. He was a WW II Veteran, having served
in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy
(Charles) Ayers, Amanda (James) Neal, and
Karen Bishop; eight grandchildren; and 19
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by
his brother, Bob (Betty) Seaman. He was
preceded in death by his parents; wife;
brother, Bill Seaman; and two granddaughters.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
today, Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Kimes Funeral
Home, 521 5th Street, Parkersburg. Evangelist
Keith Kress will officiate and burial will
follow at Evergreen South Cemetery, with
military rites conducted by the American
Legion Post #15. The visitation was held from
2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 29.
There will also be one hour of visitation
prior to the funeral service today at the
funeral home.
