Frederick A. Rader

Frederick A. Rader, 57, formerly of Parkersburg, WV died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at his residence in Homestead, FL.

He was born May 25, 1947 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Daniel Webster Rader and Alma J. Bostic York. He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and West Virginia University and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College of Law. He retired from teaching in the Dade County Schools. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

He was co-founder of Alltrends Entertainment Co. and previously owned Rader Talent Agency and the Neal Island Marina. He was active in the Democratic Party in both West Virginia and Florida and was nominated to the West Virginia House of Delegates. He served in the Rockefeller administration as regional administrator for the state anti-poverty agency and was formerly a staff member of the United States House of Representatives.

He is survived by eight sisters and brothers, Jane Ann Sparks of St. Petersburg, FL, James Arnold Miller of Belpre, OH, Daniel Garren Rader of Hollywood, FL, Richard L. Rader of Parkersburg, WV, Mary Kathryn Cowan of Cairo, WV, Eric Paul Rader of Syracuse, UT, Okey Rader of Parkersburg, WV and Patsy Rader of Parkersburg, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his faithful dog, Max.

Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 532 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV with Father John Fahey officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV.

Debra R. Mathis

Debra R. Mathis, 45, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 13, 1959 in New Martinsville, WV, a daughter of Wonetta Barker of Parkersburg, WV and the late Charles Franklin Fluharty.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children, Michael Fluharty of Parkersburg, WV, Chrystal Rockafellow of Alma, MI and Robin Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; three grandchildren, Austin and Timothy Crase of Myrtle Beach, SC and Bradley Rockafellow of Alma, MI; five brothers and sisters, Ronald Fluharty of Lumberport, WV, Christopher Dennis Fluharty of Jacksonville, FL, Diane Miller of Kannapolis, NC, David C. Miller of Albemarle, NC and Gladys Dennis of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Services, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV.

Pauline L. Ruff

Pauline L. Ruff, 89, of Parkersburg, WV died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at The Arbors in Marietta, Ohio.

She was born at Grantsville, WV, the daughter of the late Gordi and Bertie Hathaway VanHorn. She was a retired legal secretary with the law offices of Yoke and Yoke for 42 years. She was a class of 1934 graduate of Belpre High School and attended Bowling Green University. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert G. Ruff and his wife, Phyllis, of Louisville, KY and Gary L. Ruff and his wife, Carol, of Parkersburg, WV; three grandchildren, Christina Whytsell, Jenifer Allen and Traci Sheppard; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Ruff, in 1971; a sister; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend James Kinsler and Pastor Mike Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

William C. Reynolds

William Clay Reynolds, 84, of Parkersburg, WV died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at his residence.

He was born November 8, 1920 in Spencer, WV, a son of the late William and Darla Riddle Reynolds. He worked for Carl Stephens Construction Company and was a member of Laborers Local Union 1085. Mr. Reynolds was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Menear and her husband, Randall, of Parkersburg, WV and Carolyn Tippie of Florida; one brother, Earl Reynolds of Murraysville, WV; one daughter-in-law, Rose Reynolds of Ireland; eight grandchildren, Maranda Menear and her fiancé, Chris Pauley, Benjamin, Melissa and Gary Tippie and Maria, Kellie, Erin and Mary Reynolds; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Brittany Tippie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara A. Reynolds; and two sons, William and L. James Reynolds.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with the Reverend Gene Hutton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Mildred M. Ayers

Mildred Mae Ayers, 76, of Vienna, WV passed away Monday, April 11, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 18, 1928 in Walker, WV, a daughter of the late Charles and Birdie Mae Marlow Mullen. She was employed by Corning Glass Works for 41 years and was a member of the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Billy E. Ayers; five children, Mike W. Daugherty and his wife, Jodi, of Mineral Wells, WV, Mark A. Daugherty and his wife, Beverly, of Parkersburg, WV, Chuck E. Daugherty of Deer Park, TX, Sharon M. Werth of Viera, FL and Judy K. Phillips and her husband, Bob, of Rochester, NY; ten grandchildren, Barry Anders of Houston, TX, Scott Harrison of Anchorage, Alaska, Rick Harrison and Mike Daugherty, both of Mineral Wells, WV, Samuel Swisher of Feura Bush, NY, Nicolas Daugherty of Fayetteville, NC, Brooke and Andrea Daugherty, both of Parkersburg, WV and Rob Phillips and Tammi Conley, both of Rochester, NY; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Mullen; a granddaughter, Tina Harrison Life; and a son-in-law, Dale Werth.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church, 4124 14th Avenue, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

George T. Schott

George T. Schott, 87, of Vienna, WV passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 5, 1918 in Kanawha County, WV, a son of the late Henry A. and Goldendene Hopkins Schott. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and had received the Bronze Star. George was self-employed in the refrigeration business and had worked for Imperial Ice Cream Company and Fairmont Foods. He was a member of Wayside United Methodist Church and the National Rose Society. He was a certified Rosarian who competed and judged rose shows for many years.

He is survived by one son, George M. Schott of Vienna, WV; one daughter, Sandra Breslin of Florida; brothers, Henry Schott of Lubeck, WV, Earl Schott of Parkersburg, WV, and Carl, Jim and Bob Schott, all of Vienna, WV; sisters, Angelia O'Rear of South Carolina and Naomi Keller and Lois Shuman, both of Vienna, WV; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris L. Tingler Schott; and one brother, Charles Schott.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with the Dr. Reverend Joseph Kenaston officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Artis F. Hogue

Artis F. Hogue, 83, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 23, 1921 in Roane County, WV, a daughter of the late Jeff and Laura Bell Boggs Starcher. She was a homemaker and an Apostolic by faith.

Artis is survived by nine children, Ray Starcher and his wife, Sharon, Betty Vannoy and her husband, Bill, Norma Wharff and her husband, Carl, Carolyn S. VanDale, Danny VanDale and his wife, Connie, Barbara Lynch Wilson and her husband, Albert, Wayne N. Hogue, William 'Bill' Hogue and Pamela Walker Hogue; Sheila Lockney, whom she raised; lifelong loving companion, Ted E. Chutes; twenty-one grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and one grandson.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Robert Moody officiating. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV.

Frances M. Moss

Frances M. Moss, 87, of Vienna, WV died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 24, 1917 in Meadowvale, WV, a daughter of the late Henry and Daisy Baker Carpenter. Frances was a homemaker and she was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by a daughter, Garnett Foggin and her husband, David, of Vienna, WV; two sons, Ronald Moss and wife, Kathy, and Gary Moss, all of Parkersburg, WV; grandchildren, Scott and Laura Foggin, Teresa and Chad Moore, Tony and Buck McCroskey, Brian and Kelly Foggin, Tracy Abel, Shelley Petty and Brandon Moss; great-grandchildren, Corey, Nathaniel, Seth, Brittany, Matthew and Cara Foggin, Shannon and Justin Bernard, Brandi McCroskey, Alyssa and David Abel, Jaquiss Williams, Bryce Petty and Dakota and Brianna Moore; three sisters, Velva Reisdorf of Dubuque, Iowa, Ruth Alexander of Goosecreek, SC and Boots Offenberger of Parkersburg, WV; and one brother, Raymond Carpenter of Viennna, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Moss; three brothers, Rex, Johnnie and Harl Carpenter; and one great-grandson, Daniel Scott Foggin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with Glen Whitlatch officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Kyle J. Deems

Kyle J. Deems, 71, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at his residence.

He was born April 8, 1935 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Oscar Burton and Clara Olive Marks Deems. Kyle was retired from High Pointe Beef Meat Processing. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Janice Hope Schreckengost Deems, of Parkersburg, WV; one son, Steven Deems of Parkersburg, WV; two daughters and their husbands, Martha and Dan Lind of Grove City, OH and Sandy and Lyle Sheets of Waynesfield, OH; one brother and his wife, Jack and Betty Deems of Franklin Furnace, OH; three sisters, Helen Wright, Kathleen Sims and JoAnn Schreckengost, all of Parkersburg, WV; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeff Daniel Deems; his brother, Roy Deems; and his infant sister, Lela Deems.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with Lyle Sheets officiating. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday and from Noon until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.

Nancy K. Pfaff

Nancy Katherine Pfaff, 91, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.

She was born November 18, 1913 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Edward and Lula Wamsley Duffey. She was a member of Stephenson United Methodist Church and a member of the City Park Homemakers Club. Nancy enjoyed making crafts and playing the organ.

She is survived by two sons, Jim Pfaff and his wife, Beth, of Parkersburg, WV and Richard A. Pfaff and his wife, Diane, of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Dorothy Lou Prostanik and her husband, Mike, of Lake Wacamau, NC; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary J. Weser of Parkersburg, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Pfaff; three grandsons; one sister; and two brothers.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Terry Alvarez officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Larry F. Hill

Larry Franklin Hill, 66, of Hill Avenue, Parkersburg, WV passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Charleston General Hospital after an extended illness.

The elder son of the late Charles E. and Eleanor Ross Hill, he was born April 24, 1938 in Parkersburg, WV. He was a 1957 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired from DuPont Washington Works with 35 years of service.

Larry was a loving and devoted husband and father to his wife of 47 years, Shirley Callaghan Hill; his children, Belinda J. Bargeloh and her husband, Mark, of Concord, NC, Charles R.F. Hill and his wife, Paula, and Patricial A. Hill, all of Parkersburg, WV; his grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan Bargeloh, Tabitha and Eric Hill, and Hannah Hill, who were his pride and joy; a sister, Carol J. Fleak and her husband, Larry, of Washington, WV; his sister-in-law, Martha Crawley Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Raleigh Hill.

Larry was a longtime member of the Lubeck Church of Christ where he served as former deacon and treasurer for 17 years, was a former Bible class teacher and where he cherished his church family.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 at the Lubeck Church of Christ with Evangelists David W. Newberry and Jason Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen South Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV and one hour prior to services at the church.

Sophie P. Hooper

Sophie Page Hooper, infant daughter of Andrew T. Hooper and Carrie Rispo of Williamstown, WV died Monday, April 4, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one sister, Meechelle Fair of Williamstown, WV; her maternal grandparents, Ron and Eileen Rispo of Cleveland, OH; her paternal grandparents, Jim and Stephanie Hooper of St. Marys, WV; and paternal great-grandparents, Bill and Margie Elder of St. Marys, WV.

There will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV.

James W. Taylor

James W. Taylor, 67, of Cutler, Ohio passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Arbors of Marietta.

He was born May 2, 1937 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Henry L. and Nola May Matheson Taylor. He was retired from Smith Concrete as a truck driver. He was a member of the AFL-CIO.

James is survived by one brother, Robert Taylor, of Vienna, WV; four sisters, Patricia A. Taylor of Vienna, WV, Margaret Wilson and Dolores Taylor, both of Parkersburg, WV and Barbara Coleman of Cleburne, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation services have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV.

Joseph C. Corra

Joseph Creed Corra, 86, of Vienna, WV departed this life Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a prolonged illness.

He was born in Pennsboro, WV on November 26, 1918, a son of the late Ellis and Eva Ferris Corra. He was a graduate of Cairo High School and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Knights of Columbus. As a young man, he worked at City Iron and Metal, and in 1950 he started Corra and Patterson Excavating. He worked at Union Carbide/Elkem from 1953 to 1983. Joseph was active with Relay for Life and enjoyed raising a big garden and providing fresh garden produce to many friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geneva Isabel Corra; nine children, Ellis, Mary, Joe and Charles Corra, Virginia Peterson, Linda Gray, Helen McDonald, Loretta Deenis and Sophia Staats; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Madeline Lott, Virginia Mbiad and Rose Turner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Peter Corra; two brothers, Alec and Charles Corra; and one sister, Mary Jane Casey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the St. Michaels Catholic Church, 55th Street and Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV, of which Mr. Corra was a long-time member, with Father Joseph Peterson as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV where there will be a Christian wake service at 8:00 p.m.
