Blair Archer

Blair Archer, 84, of Parkersburg, WV passed from this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Willows Nursing Facility.

He was born January 15, 1921 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Lincoln and Ora J. Plate Archer. Blair was a member of the First Christian Church, where he had served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. He proudly served his country as a member of the Air Force during World War II and retired from Sears after 30 years of service. He was a carpenter by trade.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Althea Lotus Archer; one son, Ronald Blair Archer and wife, Linda, of Parkersburg, WV; three daughters, Cheryl Kay Samec and husband, Hal, of Florida, Patricia Lou Cooper and husband, Richard, of Parkersburg, WV and Vicki Sue Archer of Charleston, WV; eight grandchildren, Dawn DeMoss, Clint Cooper, April Wilson, Jeff and Brian Williams, Ty and Drew Reynolds, and Tommie Archer; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis and Chase DeMoss, Alexis, Trenton and Tyler Cooper, Chaz Lamp, Aleeha Miller and Julius Williams; and many more family members and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Alan; three brothers, Lincoln, Marshall and Donald Archer; and three sisters, Irene and Erma Snodgrass and Nellie Deem.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2005 at the First Christian Church, 1400 Washington Avenue, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Michael Goff officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from 3 - 5 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Holly William Alexander

Holly William 'Bill' Alexander, 62, of Mineral Wells, WV passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 23, 1943 in Wilmington, DE, a son of Amy Staats Alexander of Vienna, WV and the late Ira E. Alexander.

Bill was retired after 34 years of service from the Ames Plant, where he was plant superintendent. He was a member of the Ohio River Bass Restoration Committee, had coached baseball, and enjoyed bass fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Janice 'Jane' Alexander, of Mineral Wells, WV; three children and their spouses, Sherry and Mark Gibboney of Parkersburg, WV, Mike and Christy Alexander of Belleville, WV and Robert 'Bob' and Sabrina Alexander of Parkersburg, WV; one sister and her husband, Doris and George Wildman, of Belpre, OH; six grandchildren, Matthew Harrison Gibboney and Holly Lee Gibboney, both of Parkersburg, WV, Amber Dawn Alexander and Clayton Michael Alexander, both of Belleville, WV and Sierra Frances Alexander and David Robert Alexander, both of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Helen Lee Alexander.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Jeff Mayfield officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday and from Noon until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Thomas E. Shaver

Thomas Edward Shaver, 73, of Parkersburg, WV passed away March 28, 2005 at his residence.

He was born November 4, 1932 in Marion County, WV, a son of the late Ray Charles and Ethel Edna Taylor Shaver. Thomas had previously worked at the American Viscose and the Elkem Metals Power Plant. He was a past member of the Baptist Temple Church in Fairmont, WV, a member of VFW Post 629 in Fairmont, a member of the F.O.E. Aerie 1238 and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

Thomas is survived by three brothers, Charles Ray Shaver of Jacksonville, FL, William L. Shaver of Fairmont, WV and Richard E. Shaver of Parkersburg, WV; two sisters, Helen Louise Davis of Parkersburg, WV and Beverly H. Henderson of Marion County, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Jean Wilford.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend William Batten officiating. Inurnment will follow in Evergreen South Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Lewis Yonaley, Jr.

Lewis Yonaley, Jr., 82, of Williamstown, WV passed away Monday, April 18, 2005 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born February 12, 1923 in Ritchie County, WV, a son of the late Lewis and Ethel Martin Yonaley. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and was retired from the American Cyanamid Willow Island Plant.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Mollie Newton Yonaley; one son, Ronald Yonaley of Reno, OH; one daughter, Linda Sue Clegg of Parkersburg, WV; and two grandchildren, Brian Yonaley of Detroit, MI and Julie Yonaley of Columbus, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with Evangelist Donald Seevers officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lewis E. Hendershot, Sr.

Lewis Earl Hendershot, Sr., 88, of Vienna, WV died Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV.

He was born November 7, 1916 in Walker, WV, a son of the late Ira and Sarah Fleming Hendershot. He was the owner and operator of Pioneer Carpet, was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, was a World War II Navy veteran and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons, Lewis E. 'Bud' Hendershot, Jr. of Aurora, CO and Gary Hendershot and his wife, Debbie, of Parkersburg, WV; two daughters, Judy Miller and Debbie Hall and her husband, Jim, all of Vienna, WV; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Lura Cline Hendershot; three sisters, Rhea Piersol, Phoebe Mulroy and Mary Park; and three brothers, Carl, Frank and Ed Hendershot.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with Father Robert Park officiating. Burial will be in Shilo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

James W. Sellers

James W. Sellers, 84, of Vienna died Monday, May 16, 2005 at The Arbors of Marietta.

He was born March 12, 1921, near Belleville, WV, a son of the late James P. and Ada Mills Sellers.

Jim was a Navy veteran. While serving in the South Pacific in World War II he earned five campaign ribbons and fifteen battle stars. He was the retired Corporate Treasurer of Parkersburg Coca-Cola Bottling Company.

He was an extremely active member of the Vienna Lions Club for 46 years serving as President, Vice-President, and Secretary-Treasurer. He served as District Governor in 1983-1984. As a devout member of the Vienna Baptist Church he served as Treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and held various other positions.

Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Anne Freeman Sellers; one son, Delbert Sellers of Spartanburg, SC; one daughter, Karen Sellers of Parkersburg, WV; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Blaine Sellers of Parkersburg, WV; and two sisters, June Hupp and Jean Gorrell both of Parkersburg, WV.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, WV, with Rev. Paul Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg, with military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 and prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Betty L. Henthorn

Betty Lenora Henthorn, 78, of Parkersburg, WV, went to dance in heaven with her loving husband, Lyle R. Henthorn, on May 17, 2005.

She was born in Vienna, WV, a daughter of the late Gale and Alta Fox Delaney. She was formerly employed by Viscose Corporation, Cyanamid and Parkersburg Catholic High School. She was a member of Cornerstone Gospel Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Freeman of Parkersburg, WV and Pamela Stephens of Rockport, WV; two grandsons, Mikos Henthorn of Parkersburg, WV and William Michael Fisher of Coral Springs, FL; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, WV, with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Burial will be in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Merrill G. Hedrick

Merrill G. 'Gil' Hedrick, 73 of Cairo, WV passed away Monday, May 16, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born April 4, 1932, at Hendricks, WV, a son of the late Merrill G. and Pearl J. Waggy Hedrick. Gil attended Parson High School, was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Marines and was retired from E.I. DuPont as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Sams Hedrick; one son, Merrill G. Hedrick and his wife, Ronda, of Cairo, WV; four grandchildren, Missy Crum and her husband, Dan, Sabrina Lowe and her husband, Luke, Matt Gilmore and Thomas Andrew Hedrick; eight treat-grandchildren; one brother, Wilbert 'Alan' Hedrick and his wife, Linda, of St. Marys, WV; three sisters, Faye Elliott and her husband, Harold, of Centralia, Mo., Susan Asbury and her husband, Bob, and Helen Schlarb and her husband, Dave, all of Vienna, WV.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, WV, with the Rev. Mike Goff officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mineral Wells, WV. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home.

Charles "Charley" Collins

Charles 'Charley' Collins, 81, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Monday, May 16, 2005, at his residence.

He was born September 8, 1924, in Mingo County, WV, a son of the late Leonard and Mag Collins. Charley was retired from Public Debt and had served 13 years in the Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of DAV.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Richards Collins of Parkersburg, WV; his son, Charles G. Collins and his wife, Crystal of Parkersburg, WV; two grandsons, Charles B. Collins and his wife, Becky, of Vienna, WV and Robert G. Collins of Parkersburg, WV; and his great-grandson, Caden R. Collins of Parkersburg, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Services will be noon Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Living Word Church, Roseland Avenue, Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Chris Pugh officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 until the time of services at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, WV.

Charles Virgil Cain

Charles Virgil Cain, 81 of Davisville, WV passed away May 14, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born February 18, 1924, in Wirt County, WV, a son of the late Charles H. and Minnie May Ash Cain.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II; he was a self-employed water well driller with his brother; and he enjoyed gardening and deer hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Robinson Cain and his son, Scott Cain, both of Davisville, WV; his other children, Cheryl Denning of Benson, N.C., Charles Veryl Cain of Greensboro, N.C., Linda Barnette of Parkersburg, WV, Mary Ann Murray of Cutler, OH, Margie Cunningham of Lubeck, WV, Mildred Murray of Parkersburg, WV, and Anthony Cain of Silver Spring, Md.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday May 17, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Charlene Spauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Freeport Cemetery, Wirt County, WV. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Gerald Musser

Gerald Guy Musser, 69, of Parkersburg, WV died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Guy and Cleta Musser. He was a member of the DAV, a Ham operator, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a Baptist by faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Julia M. Anderson, and her husband, Stephen, of Parkersburg, WV; a grandson, Chris Anderson and his wife, Angie, of Belleville, WV; a great-granddaughter, Paxton Anderson; two sisters, Elberta George and her husband, Jack, of Parkersburg, WV and Annamarget Malone of Belpre, OH; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Ron and Sue Watson of Greensboro, NC, Roger and Janet Phillips and 'little' Roger of Columbus, OH, Crystal and Trish, Cyndee Thomas of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cliff and Janice and Hugh McCaffery of Parkersburg, WV; and his special pet dog, 'Dixie'.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Sue Musser.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Tim Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from Noon until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
