Kathryn L. Swain

Kathryn L. Swain, age 86 of Parkersburg, WV, passed away Thursday May 12, 2005 at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 13, 1919 in Mason County, WV, a daughter of the late Carl E. and Vivian Sayre Hart. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, was retired from Icon Office Solutions after 33 years of service, was a Methodist by faith, and was very active at Parkland Place where she resided.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Swain Fore and her husband David of Virginia and Charlotte Swain Clinton and her husband Larry of Vienna, WV; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Hart Bullman of North Carolina.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. 'Hezzie' Swain; and a sister, Mildred Hart Sweyer.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. May 14, 2005 Saturday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV with Rev. Arthur Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Nina O. Joy

Nina O. Joy, 95, of Vienna, WV passed away Tuesday May 10, 2005, at the residence of her niece, Barbara Bunner.

She was born February 17, 1910, in Yawkey, Lincoln County, WV, a daughter of the late Ollie Markle and Alice Darnell Markle McCullough. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Vienna, WV. She had been an active member at the church, having been a teacher for the Robert Cowden Sunday School class, president of the Lydia Circle and district officer of the United Methodist Women. She retired in 1969 after 33 years of service from S.S. Kresge Co. as personnel supervisor.

Nina is survived by two sisters, Clara Markle and Maxine Ferrebee, both of Vienna, WV; one brother, Charles McCullough of Stark, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 12, 2005 at the St. John's United Methodist Church in Vienna with the Rev. Earle H. Arthur, the Rev. Norman Butler and Pastor Buddie Bunner officiating. Burial will follow in Mole Hill Cemetery at Mountain, WV. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

Patricia Ann Harris

Patricia Ann Harris, age 68, of Vienna, WV passed away Monday May 9, 2005 at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 18, 1936 in Fall River, Massachusetts a daughter of the late George and Evelyn Gagnon Murphy. Patricia was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and flowers and was a Catholic by faith.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Harris, Sr. of Vienna, WV; six children, Kim and Gary Wahl of Vienna, WV, Donald 'Bub' Harris, Jr. of Vienna, WV, Stormy and Jeff Hatcher of Ripley, WV, Deidra and Tim Mantel of Stockport, OH, Barbara and Danny McCoy of Palestine, WV, and Thomas and Shannan Harris of Fayetteville, NC; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, George Murphy, Sheila Collier, Carol MacKenzie, Sharon St. Laurent, Joan Gehan, and Maureen Sokolski all of Massachusetts, Betty VonDerharr of Illinois, Debra Duhancik and Donna Murphy both of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Murphy and John Murphy; one sister, Mildred Dechaine and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday May 12, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, WV with Pastor Gene Hutton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg, WV. Visitation is from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marie C. Graves

Marie C. Graves, age 86, of Vienna, WV went to her heavenly home, Sunday May 8, 2005.

She was born December 27, 1918 in Toledo, OH, the eldest daughter of the late Otto and Mary Minear Chilcote.

Marie was retired from Quaker State Oil Refinery in Belpre, OH; she was a devoted Christian and a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church for over 65 years; a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 151 of Vienna, WV for 40 years where she served as secretary for 20 years; was the first woman draftsman in the engineering department at Rig & Reel during WWII; and was instrumental in designing the first handicapped accessible State Park in West Virginia.

Marie previously was active with the Wesleyan Service Guild; was a Sunday school teacher; youth leader; trustee; church secretary; and active in the choir. She was the current church historian; a member of the Ruth Fellowship; United Methodist Women where she held numerous offices including district President; and a member of the Church Women United where she was past state President and Vice-President.

Surviving is her sister, Marion White of Parkersburg; seven nieces & nephews; seven great nieces & nephews; and 'the perfect dog' Mollie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Graves; her brother, Albert Chilcote, who was killed in the Battle of Bulge during WWII; and her sister, Elsie Tallman Talbott who passed away April 2000.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 12, 2005 at the Wayside United Methodist Church, Vienna, WV with Rev. Dr. Joseph Kenaston and Rev. Sandy Runnion officiating. Interment will follow at the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with a 7:30 p.m. Eastern Star service by Vienna Chapter 151. Friends are also welcomed one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.

Vincent J. Farnsworth

Vincent J. Farnsworth, 78, of Parkersburg, WV died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

He was born September 23, 1926 in Wood County, WV, a son of the late Herbal and Delcie Kimble Farnsworth. Mr. Farnsworth retired in 1978 from Kaiser Aluminum in Belpre, OH. He attended the Jefferson Baptist Temple in Parkersburg, was active in the Wood and Wirt County Senior Citizens and was a former volunteer at Day Break in Parkersburg.

He is survived by three sons, Russell Farnsworth and his wife, Connie, of Vienna, WV, Michael Farnsworth and his wife, Linda, and Daniel Farnsworth and his wife, Debbie Louise, all of Parkersburg, WV; two daughters, Jane Browning and Debbie McNabb and her husband, Gene, all of Parkersburg, WV; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Farnsworth of Lynchburg, VA and Sterling Farnsworth of Mineral Wells, WV; and three sisters, Doris Nestler and Juanita Johnson of Parkersburg, WV and Gleana Peterson of Black Earth, WI.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Buckley Farnsworth; one daughter; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold and Robert.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Charles B. Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4 - 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sandra J. Freed

Sandra Jean Reed Freed, 61, of Parkersburg, WV died Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

She was born at Cairo, WV, a daughter of the late Ray and Mollie Martin Reed. She was a graduate of Cairo High School, class of 1961 and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Tracy R. Freed of Beatty, NV, Ricky A. Freed and his wife, Lisa, Timothy C. Freed, Larry B. Freed and Garry R. Freed and his wife, Christy, all of Parkersburg, WV; a daughter, Tina M. Freed of Parkersburg, WV; two sisters, Peggy Davis of Warren, OH and Mildred Bircher of Parkersburg, WV; and six grandchildren, Mark, Jeremy, Ryan, Angela, Devin and Jessica.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kelmer Leon Freed in 2000; a son, Randall L. Freed in 2003; a brother, Lawrence Reed; and three sisters, Mabel Myers, Pearl Wigner and Opal Mae Reed.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with Elder Glen Cottrill officiating. Burial will be in the Cairo I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Grace Rodgers

Evelyn Grace Rodgers, 88, of Parkersburg, WV died Friday May 6, 2005 at The Arbors of Marietta.

She was born December 6, 1916 at Bruceton Mills, WV a daughter of the late Dorsey J. and Ruth Martin Spiker. She was a longtime member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Parkersburg where she was active in the Rebecca Circle.

She is survived by two daughters, Sally Schaad of Parkersburg, WV and Joyce Rodgers of Columbus, OH; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Donald A. Rodgers who died in 1995 and one son, Donald K. Rodgers.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday May 9, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV with Rev. Maurice A. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen North Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Everett W. "Jr." Burdette

Everett W. 'Jr.' Burdette, 75, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Monday, May 2, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Jr. better known to many as the 'Egg Man' was born October 21, 1929 in Wadesville, WV, a son of the late Everett, Sr. and Mildred Holleron Burdette. He was part owner of Burdette Sales and manager of Burdette Gas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Parkersburg where he had served faithfully for many years as an usher. He was a U.S. Air Force retired Staff Sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn K. Burdette; one daughter, Sherol Gonzalez of Marietta, OH; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, B.L. Burdette of Parkersburg, WV; two nephews, Christopher Burdette and Michael Burdette, both of Parkersburg, WV; and two grand-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Onadine Burdette.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Rich McClure officiating. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 813 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Beulah M. Dowler

Beulah M. Dowler, 84, of Mineral Wells, WV passed away Monday, May 2, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 24, 1920 in Thomas, WV, a daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Secrist Snyder. She was a homemaker and attended Calvary Memorial Church.

Beulah is survived by her husband, Virgil N. Dowler; two sons, Bernard Dowler and his wife, Ann, of Ripley, WV and Norman Dowler and his wife, Linda, of South Haven, MS; two daughters, Linda Donahue and her husband, Larry, of Mineral Wells, WV and Charlotte Bumgarner and her husband, David, of Parkersburg, WV; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen South Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dr. Harvey "Gene" Dillinger, Jr.

Dr. Harvey E. 'Gene' Dillinger, Jr., 86, of Vienna, WV died Sunday, May 1, 2005 at his home.

He was born October 7, 1918 in Richwood, WV, a son of the late Harvey E. Dillinger, Sr. and Bertha Sparks Dillinger. He graduated from Richwood High School in 1936 and Morris Harvey College in 1940. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He took park in the D-Day landing in Normancy in 1944. He graduated from Northwestern Dental School in 1950 and practiced dentistry in Vienna from 1955 until his retirement in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nellie Hesser Dillinger; two sons, Rex Dillinger and his wife, Natalie, of Milton, WV and Tim Dillinger of Wilmington, NC; four grandsons, Benjamin and Jacob Dillinger of Milton, WV and Ian and Tyler Dillinger of Georgetown, SC; a brother, James Dillinger and his wife, Julia, of St. Albans, WV; a sister, Kathleen Dillinger of St. Albans, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Dillinger, in 1985.

There will be no visitation. His body will be cremated and his remains will be buried at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Cremation services have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV.

Everett Freeland

Everett Rex Freeland, 50, of Belpre, Ohio died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Elza and Frances Lowther Freeland. He was formerly employed by Shoney's restaurant for 15 years.

Survivors included his domestic partner for many years, Kathy Adams, of Belpre, OH; a son, Everett 'Chris' Freeland of Vincent, OH; two daughters, Jana Freeland of Parkersburg, WV and Amanda Freeland of Belpre, OH; two brothers, Gregory Freeland of Parkersburg, WV and Larry Freeland of Belpre, OH; four sisters, Wanda Hutson, Joyce Waybright and Darlene Hutson, all of Parkersburg, WV and Margaret Blair of Davisville, WV; one grandchild; and a best friend, Joe Smith, of Barlow, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Frenna Morehead officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
