David O. Spence

David O. Spence, age 74, of Vienna, WV, passed away July 27, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1931, in Massillon, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond C. and Mildred A. Seevers Spence. He retired in 1989 after 34 years of service with General Electric as a quality control engineer, was a member of Greenview Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.

David is survived by his wife, Beulah M. Spence, whom he married August 24, 1954; daughters, Amy L. Bryer of Southaven, Mississippi, Mary Ann Deenis of Vienna, WV, and Jill M. Youngblood of Parkersburg, WV; one son, Jeffrey D. Spence of Collierville, Tennessee; a daughter, Sarah E. Deenis of Parkersburg, WV; sons-in-law, John W. Deenis, William H. Bryer and David Youngblood; one sister, Martha A. Bailey; grandchildren, William and Arielle Bryer, Shane, David and Aaric Deenis, Michael and Krysta Youngblood, Taylor and Jesse Spence and Paul and Ceili McDowell; special grandchildren, Nicholas Day and Jessica Bohone; and special friends, Sherri Echard, Terri Day and Bruce Cormack, all co-workers from G.E.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV, with the Rev. John Koerner officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, WV.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.

Robert V. Givens

Robert Victor Givens, 89, of Lost Pavement Road, Parkersburg, WV, passed away July 23, 2005, at the Willows Nursing Facility.

He was born July 20, 1916, at Pee Wee, WV, a son of the late Ulysses and Ethel Jenkins Givens. Robert was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army; was a retired carpenter, having worked for Murphy Construction; and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Louverna Enoch Givens of the Willows; his son, Sidney Givens of Parkersburg, WV; his granddaughter, Janie Parsons of Parkersburg, WV; three great-grandchildren, Brenden, Sydne and Jayla Parsons; and his sister, Helen Conley of Reston, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Steven Givens; two brothers; and one sister.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, WV, with Pastor Randy Kochersperger officiating. Interment will follow at the Lubeck Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Earl S. Quick

Earl S. Quick, 70, of Coolville, Ohio, passed away July 24, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 13, 1935, in Wood County, WV a son of the late Clyde and Elva Shuttes Quick. Earl was a U.S. Air Force veteran; was retired from the Local Laborers Union 1085; was a member of the Ohio Game Breeders Association; National Rifle Association; was an avid trap shooter; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and auto racing.

Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Joan Leasure Quick; one daughter, Tammy Hopkins of Coolville, Ohio; three grandsons, Jeffrey Stull of Nelsonville, Ohio, and Lindsey and Luke Quick, both of Parkersburg, WV; three granddaughters, Nicki Styer of Marietta, Ohio and Jessica and Jennifer Johnson, both of Coolville, Ohio; and one great-granddaughter, McKenna Stull of Nelsonville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Angela Styer and Mary Jo Quick; one brother, Bobby Quick; and one sister, Doris Snider.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2005 at the Evergreen South Cemetery with Dr. D. Larry Hooper officiating.

The family requests that memorial may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Glady E. Lynch

Gladys Erma Green Lynch, 80, of Parkersburg, WV, departed this life July 23, 2005, at Heartland of Marietta.

She was born in Wood County, WV, a daughter of the late Henry and Laura Toncray Green. She was a member of the Waverly Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Donald D. Lynch of Williamstown, WV; two daughters, Joyce Brookover of Williamstown, WV and Judy Lott of Davisville, WV; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a half-sister, Eladine Sinclair of Deerwalk, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Dale Lynch in 2003; three brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, David Lott.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, WV with Evangelist J.D. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Richard L. Young

Richard L. 'Dick' Young, 62, of Waverly, WV, passed away July 22, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 9, 1943, in Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Gordon and June Marie Young. Dick was a teacher and a welding instructor at PRT Technical Center and West Virginia University at Parkersburg. He was owner of Young's Welding and Trailer Repair, a member of the Boilermakers' Union, a certified welding inspector and was also on the advisory board for PRT Tech Center. With his students, he designed and created many Christmas light displays for St. Mary's City, Marina and PRT. He was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge 172 of Vienna, WV the American Legion and participated in the Ornish Heart-Healthy Lifestyle Program. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

Surviving is his wife of 19 years, Nicki Colvin Young of Waverly, WV; his children, including David Young, Crystal Dobbs and her husband, Jim, and Zak Thomas and his wife, Emily; his grandchildren, Jared and Allie Young and Madeline and Amelia Dobbs; his mother-in-law, Marguerite Colvin; his sister-in-law, Vicki Frye and husband, Ron; his niece, Wendy Delano and husband, Bob; his nephew, Todd Frye and wife, Stephanie; and great-niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Colvin Delano.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Walter Colvin Jr.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV, with the Rev. Mike Richards officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Private family interment will follow at a later date.

The family requests that memorial donations can be sent to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 North Halsted Street, Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60622, in memory of Dick.

Robert W. Browning

Robert W. Browning, 68, of Norwalk, Ohio, formerly of Mineral Wells, WV, died July 20, 2005, at the Carriage House in Norwalk.

He was born September 9, 1936, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Thomas H. and Margaret Cole Browning. He spent most of his life in Mineral Wells, WV, having lived in Norwalk for the last 18 months. He joined the U.S. Navy early in his life and went on to spend 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a Girl Scout Camp Ranger for 13 years. He was a member of the Grace Gospel Church.

He is survived by three sisters, Rebecca Browning-Sigler and her husband, Bill, Anita Cavanaugh and her husband, Keith, and Victoria Lukins, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Michael Paul Browning of Virginia Beach and Tom Browning and his wife, Jeanette, of Huntingtown, Md.; sisters-in-law, Eva Russell of Warren, Ohio, Jean Tanner of Iowa City, Texas, Liz Tanner of Parkersburg, WV and Carol Cottrell and her husband, Deward, of Norwalk, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Alvin Tanner and his wife, Jo Anne, of Martinsburg, WV, Morris Tanner and his wife, Dixie, of Elizabeth, WV and Herbert Tanner and his wife, Ellen, of Fort Meyers, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and a brother, Charles.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jim Yoak officiating. Burial will be in the Rector Cemetery at Burning Springs, Wirt County, WV. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jackie R. Brletrick

Jackie Rae Brletrick, 62, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005, at her residence.

She was born October 15, 1942, in Parkersburg, WV a daughter of the late George Amburn and Evelyn Skinner Adams. Jackie formerly worked for St. Joseph's Hospital, was a member of American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg and was a caregiver for Alzheimer's patients. She especially loved fishing, the Florida sun and having a good time. Jackie loved driving around in her yellow Cadillac.

She is survived by four daughters, Kelli Skinner and husband, Gary, of Waterford, Ohio, Marsha Brletrick-Ward and husband, Douglas, of Marietta, Ohio, Martha Winans and husband, Joe, of Parkersburg, WV and Bobbi Brletrick of Parkersburg, WV; two sisters, Debra Uhl and Cynthia Adams, both of Easley, S.C.; two brothers, Ted Skinner of Florida and David Skinner of Kansas; and seven grandchildren, Travis, Alisha and Kimberly Skinner, Brant and Wesley Ward and Matthew and Michael Winans.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepfather, W. Everrett Adams; an infant brother, Earl Adams; and her beloved dog, 'Sam'.

There will be a memorial service beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, WV. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

It has been requested by the family that memorial contributions be made to The Mid-Ohio Valley Fellowship Home General Fund, 1030 George St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Carl N. Guertin

Carl N. Guertin, 82, of Vienna, WV, passed away July 18, 2005, at his residence.

He was born June 10, 1923, in Los Angeles, California, a son of the late Casper N. and Ruby Williams Guertin. Carl was a graduate of Marshall University, a World War II Army veteran and retired from Corning Glass Works.

He is survived by his wife, Carma M. Cox Guertin; two daughters, Shannon Kirkpatrick of Illinois and Carolyn Lock and her husband, Ron, of Illinois; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth J. Fmura and her husband, Ira, of Ohio; three stepsons, Morris C. Currey and his wife, Leslie, of Colorado, Judson C. Currey and his wife, Jennifer, of Parkersburg, WV and David J. Currey and his wife, Joanna, of Maryland; six grandchildren, Megan and Patrick Lock, Carter, Camille and Justin Currey and Michael Fmura; and one great-grandchild, Donavon Currey.

At the request of Mr. Guertin, there will no visitation or services. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave.Vienna, WV has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Adam C. Cutlip

Adam Christopher Cutlip, four months old, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born March 24, 2005, in Charleston, WV, to Patricia (Tolin) and Cory Cutlip of Walker, WV and was preceded in death by great-grandparents, James Casper, Robert Tolin, Robert Burns and Dorothy and Gerald Cutlip.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents, Michael and Canice Tolin of Canton, Ohio, and Robert and Nancy Cutlip of Vienna, WV; great-grandparents, Barbara Jean Casper and Beverly Tolin, both of Canton, Ohio, and Mildred Burns of Sutton, WV; aunts and uncles, Casey Cutlip of Vienna, WV, David and Kimberly Tolin, Katie Tolin and Sean Venosdale, Stephen Tolin, Douglas and Erin Tolin and Jean-Ann Tolin, all of Canton, Ohio; first cousins, Jared and Ryan Tolin of Canton, Ohio; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and special friends, including cousins Barbee and Chris.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV with a Christian Wake Service at 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the St. Michael Catholic Church, Vienna, WV, with Father Steve Puthenpurackal and Father John Fahey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV.

Claude W. Allman

Claude W. Allman, 77, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 18, 2005 at his residence.

He was born January 1, 1928 in Slate, WV, a son of the late Howard B. Blanche Clegg Allman. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Kardex as a mechanic. He enjoyed farming and traveling.

Claude is survived by eight children, Claudette Delancey and Chip Allman both of Parkersburg, WV, Sherry Wettengel, Alan Allman, Brian Allman, Chad Allman, and Regina Crout all of Belpre, Ohio and Brenda Deuschle of Pittsburgh, PA; one sister, Helen Moore of Slate, WV; 18 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Jean Moss Allman in 2002; two brothers, Blaine Allman and Ivan Allman; and one sister, Beulah Summerville.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV with Rev. David Ellenwood officiating. Burial will follow at the Rockland Cemetery, Belpre, Ohio with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Thursday.
