Gordon M. Clark
Gordon M. Clark, 76, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Barboursville, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Charlotte, N.C. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at Cyrus Creek Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Black. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, He was born December 16, 1929, in Huntington, a son of the late Jesse G. and Lucy Cooper Clark. He was a retired employee of C&O Railway, Barboursville Shops, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of Cyrus Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Carter Clark, in January of 2001; three brothers, Edward, Paul and James Clark. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin L. and Sandra McClure Clark of Charlotte, N.C.: one brother, William-Clark; one sister, Margurite Clark. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Jean Ann Whitt
Jean Ann Whitt, 78, of Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, March 21, 2006. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Tracy Mills. Burial in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born April 12,1927, in Lincoln County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Lew and Ruby Scragg Dyer. She was also. preceded in death by a brother, George Dyer. She was a former member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Ishmeal Whitt; one daughter, Dorinda Fisher of Milton; one son, Alan Whitt and his wife Linda of Bremerton, Washington ; six grandchildren, Candace Sweeney and her husband Thomas, Stephanie Fisher, Ashley Ford and her husband Ben, Rachel Wisuri, Michele Whitt and Julie Whitt; and seven great-grandchildren. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

John Paul Clay
John Paul Clay, 89, of Barboursville, died Monday, April 3, 2006, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. John was born March 16, 1917, in Catlettsburg, Ky., a son of the late James Lewis and Vina Belle Gallion Clay. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and retired as Chief Engineer of WSAZ-TV. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Broadcast Pioneers, life member in Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, VFW Post 1064, Big Green, Quarterback Club and Tip Off Club, YMCA and was Past President of Huntington Downtown Lions Club. He was also preceded by three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Mary Sue Riggs Clay; one son and daughter, John P. Clay Jr. of Charleston, W.Va., Cathryn Crawford and her husband William of West Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Clay of Louisville, Ky., Clay Crawford and Peter Crawford, both of West Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Dr. Paul D. Russell and the Rev. Dorcas Conrad. Entombment in Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Huntington City Mission.

Robert Eugene Holley
Robert Eugene Holley, 49, of Milton died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at home. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Burial in Barker Ridge Cemetery. Surviving are his companion, Reba McDonald; two sons, Robert E. Holley II and Gary L. Holley; three daughters, Lisa M. Mathis, Teresa A. Atkins and Kimberly D. Holley; two stepdaughters, Kayla and Tosha McDonald; one sister, Diana Whitt; two special nephews, Darren and Justin Ray; and seven grandchildren, Brandon T. Duckworth, Katie Holley, Madison N. Atkins, Malachai A. Atkins, Cierra S. Smith, Brooklyn D. Thacker and Mckayla Lafon.

Earl K. Hoffman
Earl K. Hoffman, 79 of Milton went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, April 2, 2006, in Sunbridge Nursing Home, Hurricane. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Bill Davis and Pastor Daniel Beaver officiating. Burial in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Earl was born July 4, 1926, a son of the late Earl R. and Dorothy M. Sager Hoffman. He also was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Frankie Lorraine Williamson; and one sister, Norma Jean Yeager. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Hoffman; daughters, Deborah (Paul) Hoffman, Victoria (Roger) Durkin of New York, Naomi D. (John) Williams of Caanan Valley, W.Va.; one son, Earl Jr. (Bea) Hoffman of New York; sister Betty (Ray) Wolfe of Ohio; brother Donald (Grace) Hoffman of Arizona; stepchildren Scott (Sharon) Pierson, Rick (Diane) Pierson, Brett (Kristi) Pierson and Sharon (Donald) Chapman; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a special great-granddaughter, Isabell. Mr. Hoffman served in the American Theather three years, also in the Navy and Army Reserves four years. Mr. Hoffman was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. military graveside rights were conducted by American Legion Post 139 Milton.

Lena “Nanny” Adams
Lena “Nanny” Adams 83, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 15, 006, at Pea Ridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Greg Creasy. Interment in Forest Memorial Park, Milton, W.Va. She was born June 20, 1922, at Mill Creek, WV, the daughter of the late Peter Evenoff Dimitroff and Laurie Hampton Dimitroff. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 1996 by her husband, John William Adams Sr. Mrs. Adams was a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and attended Pea Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, daughter Lora Dillon and her husband Tom of Proctorville, Ohio, and sons John W. Adams Jr. and his wife Carolyn of South Point, Ohio, and the Rev. Roger Adams and his wife Carol of Scott Depot, W.Va.; brothers Paul Dimitroff of St. Albans, W.Va., and Raymond Dimitroff of Columbia, S.C.; sister Lenore Dimitroff of California; grandchildren Angela J. Adams, Christine Akers and her husband Aaron, Tom Dillon and his wife Amanda, Ken Dillon, Mark Adams and Carrie Adams; great-granddaughter Gwendalyn P. Akers; and a very special friend, George Roinestad. Pallbearers were Emerson Davis, Ed Vincent, Bill Crouch, Tom Dillon, Kenny Dillon and Aaron Akers. Henson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Cross Roads Community Chapel Building Fund, 107 Hidden Valley Estates, Scott Depot, WV 25560.

Ethel Louise Bell Plogger
Ethel Louise Bell Plogger, 79, of Huntington, formerly of Bandytown, W.Va., passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006. Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the Greene Cemetery, Bandytown, by Dr. Jeff Garrett. She was born April 27, 1926, in Boone County, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Georgia Mullins Bell. She was also preceded. in death by her husband, Jack Plogger. She attended Norway Avenue Church of Christ. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Gross and her husband Leo, and Jackie Perkey, all of Huntington; one son, Tim Plogger and his wife Sheila of Bandytown; four grandchildren, Adelle Nicholas and her husband Nick, Matthew Gross and his wife Donna, Joshua Perkey and Amanda White ; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby Nicholas, Jackson Nicholas and Alexzandra Gross. Pallbearers were Leo Gross, Matthew Gross, Joshua Perkey, John Nicholas, Scott Bryant and Allen Meadows. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Angels at St. Mary’s Skilled Nursing Unit for their love, compassion and wonderful care.

Alice Faye Seay Smith Adkins
Alice Faye Seay Smith Adkins, 63, of Barboursville, W.Va., departed this life, after a short illness with cancer. She was born June 26, 1942, at Phico, W.Va., a daughter of Robert Lee Seay of Pecks Mill, W.Va., and the late Lillian Booth Seay. She departed this life Saturday, April 1, 2006, at her home. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by Frank Smith Jr., and Kenneth Adkins, and one sister, Annetta Bailey. She is survived by her loving family, her daughter and son-in-law, Daphne and Pete Murphy of Huntington; three granddaughters, Angel and Derek Dalton of Morgantown, Ashley and Allison Raines of Huntington; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Brody Dalton of Morgantown, W.Va.; a special friend, Dave Thorn of Barboursville; five sisters, Dorothy Counts, Delcie and Bob Bias, Sandy and Roger Ball, Danita Seay of Logan and Nina and John Hill of Ackworth, Ga.; three brothers, Kenneth and Frances Seay of Logan, W.Va., Danny and Joanna Seay, of Barboursville and Randy Seay of Logan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with the Rev. Larry Perry officiating. Burial in Baylous Cemetery, Hickory Ridge Road, Salt Rock, W.Va. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Carter Payne
Robert Carter Payne, 55, of Hurricane, WV, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Putnam General Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. Mark Finley. Burial in Valley View Memorial Park. He was born Feb. 5, 1951, in Huntington, a son of Rachel Carter Payne of Huntington, and the late John Payne. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a former employee of St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Huntington. Carter was a former coroner for Cabell and Wayne Counties, for the State of West Virginia. He currently was an employee of CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston. Also surviving are his wife, Randi Chambers Payne; two sons, Douglas MacKenzie “Mac” Payne of Charlotte, N.C. and Logan Brendan Payne, at home; one sister, Karen Cadwell of Huntington; father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Janet Chambers of Culloden. Contributions may be made to further “Mac’s” and Logan’s education, c/o Dr. Leonard Fichter, 3661 Teays Valley Rd., Hurricane, WV 25526. Carter had a great sense of humor and loved his children and the outdoors. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Kathy Joyce Pauley
Kathy Joyce Pauley, 54, of Barboursville, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Dr. Jerry Warren. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. She was born Feb. 4, 1952, in Cabell County, a daughter of Dewey Bowen of Barboursville and the late Mildred Clifton Bowen. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Stephanie Pauley of Huntington and Brad and Kaleb Pauley of Gainesville, Fla.; one sister, Cheryl Lynn Richardson and her husband Richard of Huntington; two brothers, Wane Bowen and his wife Patricia of Barboursville, and Richard Bowen of St. Paul, Minn.; three granddaughters, Ferrol Shella Pauley, Cloe Nicole Pauley and Lauren Ashley Pauley. five nieces and nephews, Michael Blumer, Christina Blumer, Ricky Richardson, Wane Bowen jr. and Benjamin Bowen; two great nephews, Adrian Blumer and Morgan Blumer; and two special friends, Nicolette Goheen and Linda Workman. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.
