Brian V. Morris

Brian Vernon Morris, 38, of Parkersburg, WV, died at his residence January 1, 2006.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Harry Vernon and Donna Faye Boyd Morris of Parkersburg, WV. He was employed by Atlas Van Lines; attended the 19th Street Church of God; and was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Melissa Wolfe Morris; a son, Joshua Wolfe Morris at home; four brothers, Michael Sollberger of Blacklick, Ohio, Herman Fickisen of Newark, Ohio, Charles Johnson of Lowell, Ohio, and William Johnson of Chillicothe, Ohio; four sisters, Patty Cockrell of Blacklick, Ohio, Tammy Morris of Newburg, Maryland, Kathy Harner and Janet Pasadyn, both of Parkersburg, WV; two half brothers, Chris Johnson and Scott Johnson, both of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Gene Hutton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Anthony Willis

Anthony 'Tony' Willis, 89, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 8, 1916 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Vaianisi Willis. He was retired from the Teamsters Union after 42 years of service with Associated Transport as a foreman.

Tony is survived by two daughters, Darlene Walker of Woodbine, GA and Christine Short of Parkersburg, WV; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ethel Haugh Willis; one daughter, Toni Dearth; one granddaughter, Shelly Walker; and one great-grandson, Chad Walker.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Dr. Reverend Kevin Phillips and Tom Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call form 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Richard F. Masters

Richard Forest 'Dick' Masters, 69, of Coolville, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, WV.

He was born June 16, 1936 in Glasgow, Montana, a son of the late Gale Issac and Anna L. Henry Masters. Dick graduated from Belpre High School class of 1954. He retired from E.I. DuPont Co., Washington Works, after 33 years of service. He was a member of Belpre Masonic Lodge 609 F.&A.M.; He was a member of the NRA, loved to hunt and ride his motorcycle and used to race motorcycles. Dick was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Crouser Masters of Coolville, OH; three sons, Jeff Masters and his wife, Chris, and Aaron and Brian Masters, all of Little Hocking, OH; one sister, Virginia Fox of St. Louis, MO; and one grandson, Jacob Masters of Little Hocking, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Lynn Bayne Masters; and a granddaughter, Anna Laura Masters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Tatman Funeral Home, 220 Main Street, Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Joe Nelson officiating. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Belpre Masonic Lodge 609 F.&A.M.; will conduct Masonic rites at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the charity of choice.

Edna R. Thomas

Edna Ruth Smith Thomas, 90, of Washington, WV went to be with her Lord Friday, December 30, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, WV.

She was born September 22, 1915 in Wirt County, WV, a daughter of the late George W. and Louise Anis Ward Smith. Edna formerly worked at the Viscose Division of F.M.C., Yonkers Clothing Manufacturers, in Parkersburg, where she was a sewer. Edna was also a homemaker. She started her Christian journey at the Hill Grove Methodist Church in Wirt County. She later joined the Church of the Nazarene in Belpre, Ohio, where she served as missionary president for 30 years. Currently, she was a member of the New England Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Charles Leon Thomas and wife, Karen, of Washington, WV and Edwin Smith Thomas and wife, Judy, of Rockport, TX; one sister, Ethel Kidder of Vienna, WV; nine grandchildren, David, Jon, Tim and Paul Thomas, Sandra and Will Helmick, Jim and Eric Thomas and Nicola Hoff; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Leonard Thomas; one daughter, Patricia Elaine Thomas; two brothers, Charles and William Smith; and four sisters, Nora Criner Dotson, Melissa Houchin, Bessie Hanna and Iva Davis.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with Pastors Roger and Connie Johnson and Pastor Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Hill Grove Cemetery in Wirt County. Friends may call from 1 - 4 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the missionary fund at the church of choice in honor of Edna's passion for missions.

James R. Eagle

James Rodney Eagle, age 57, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Tuesday December 27, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born November 30, 1948 in Richwood, WV a son of Anna Jean Weaver Eagle and the late Roland W. Eagle. He attended Pine Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors to camp and fish.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Kathleen Costello Eagle; two sons, James R. Eagle and his wife Tina of Parkersburg, WV and Shawn J. Eagle and his wife Celeste of Reedspring, Missouri; one daughter Amand K. Eagle and her husband Chad of Parkersburg, WV; three grandchildren, Brandon, Kelsey and Miranda; two sisters Evangeline Phillips of Cleveland, Ohio and Roberta Comuzie of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one brother, Roland Eagle; and two sisters, Marjorie and Shirley.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV with Rev. Chuck Ferrell officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Joseph Wayne Kalbaugh

Joseph 'Joe' Wayne Kalbaugh, 51, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Tuesday December 27, 2005 at Selby General Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.

He was born in Cumberland, Maryland, December 2, 1954, a son of Margaret Droppleman Kalbaugh of Belpre and the late Wayne Kalbaugh. He was a graduate of Belpre High School, attended WVU-P, Ohio University and was a graduate of Glenville State College. He was the former owner of the Price Rite Market in Parkersburg, WV and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Porterfield, Ohio.

Joe is survived by his mother; a brother, David Kalbaugh and his wife Cheryl of Delray, WV; six aunts; four uncles; two nephews; two nieces; and several cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Kalbaugh Cemetery in Elk Garden, WV.

Friends may call from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg.

Paul D. Bee

Paul D. Bee, 85, of Parkersburg, WV went to be with the Lord Monday, December 26, 2005 at his home.

He was born in Parkersburg on June 12, 1920, a son of the late Paul D. (Painter) Bee and Effie Mae Ludwig Bee.

Mr. Bee attended Parkersburg High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served on board the USS Sangay in the Pacific Theater. He served two terms as city councilman; was public safety director; was owner and operator of Paul's Barber Shop in south Parkersburg; was owner and operator of Bee's Quick Shop in Mineral Wells, WV; and retired as inspector for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was the longest standing member of Trinity United Methodist Church; a member and past president of the Wood County Democrat Club; was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose; was a Ft. Neal Kiwanis past president; and a member of American Legion Post 15, VFW and DAV Chapter 32, where he was a past commander.

Paul is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae Hartley Bee; one daughter, Markey Bee of South Carolina; five sons, David and his wife, Patsy, of Mineral Wells, WV, Danny and his wife, Donna, Dean, Dana and his wife, Tonya, and Jimmy and his wife, Krista, all of Parkersburg, WV; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bee.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend James B. Burdette officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg.

Nick Callas

Nick Callas, 74, formerly of Parkersburg, WV passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005 at his home in Ruckersville, VA.

He was born in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Louis and Anna Burgess Callas. He had worked for G.E. Electric and Philco Electric as a radar technician and later with Burns Security. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled Veterans and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Poncell Perrine Callas; two daughters, Vicki Merriman of Barboursville, VA and Debbie Zinn of Midlothian, VA; a sister, Christina Higham of Middletown, OH; three brothers, Bill Callas of Haymarket, VA, Louis Callas of Huntsville, AL and John Callas of Columbia, TN; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Helen F. Moore

Helen F. 'Sis' Moore, 73, of Slate, WV passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 28, 1932 in Wood County, WV, a daughter of the late Howard B. and Mary Blanche Clegg Allman.

Helen was a homemaker; enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, cooking and traveling; and was a life long member of the Slate Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a niece, Patty Reynolds of Slate, WV; a nephew, Gary Sommerville of Slate, WV; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Moore, in 2002; and three brothers and one sister, Ivan Allman, Blaine Allman, Claude Allman and Beulah Somerville.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Wayne Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Per Helen's request, visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the time of services.

Janice M. Pierce

Janice M. Pierce, 62, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2005 at The Arbors in Marietta, Ohio.

She was born November 7, 1943 in Wood County, WV, a daughter of the late George T. and Wilma M. Sims Pierce. Janice attended the Torch Baptist Church, was an avid genealogist and enjoyed working with the computer.

Janice is survived by her two sisters and their husbands, Doris and Dick Welch of Cutler, OH and Wanda and George 'Dal' Welch of Coolville, OH; her brother and his wife, Gary and Dawn Pierce of Duncan Falls, OH; four nieces; two nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Tatman Funeral Home, 220 Main Street, Belpre, OH. Interment will follow at the Torch Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Janice.

Elizabeth J. Peters

Elizabeth J. Peters, 96, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Cedar Grove Personal Care Facility.

She was born March 13, 1909 in Ritchie County, WV, a daughter of the late John R. and Rose Cain Lemon. Elizabeth was a homemaker and a member of the Beechwood Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Peters is survived by her son, Robert L. Peters and his wife, Jean, of Parkersburg, WV; her three daughters, Elizabeth Ann McCardle and her husband, Jim, of Mobile, AL, Susan Hennessel of Harnhan, LA and Mary Catherine Stoneking of Davisville, WV; her sister, Virginia Lemon of Parkersburg, WV; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Peters; her son, Richard E. Peters; and five brothers and sisters, Glen, Lowell, Donald and Ronald Lemon and Catherine R. O'Conner.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend George Spransy officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Carl J. Sams

Carl Junior Sams, 77, of Parkersburg, WV died Friday, December 23, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Audrick Otha and Nora Williams Sams. He was retired from the W.Va. Department of Highways with 30 years of service, a former Wood County Constable, a member of VFW Post 1212 and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Cora Jane Queen Sams; three sons, Carl Sams and his fiancee, Sharee, of Parkersburg, WV, Audrick B. Sams and his wife, Brenda, of Belleville, WV and Ed Sams and his wife, Diane, of Wadsworth, Ohio; three daughters, Carol Robinson and her husband, Rick, of Vienna, WV, Brenda Sams of Lubeck, WV and Carolyn Weser of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, William "Bugs" Sams of Parkersburg, WV and Russell "Pete" Sams of Lubeck, WV; one sister, Betty Bonnette of Marietta, OH; grandchildren, Missy Weaver and her husband, David, of Nashville, TN, April Sams and her fiance, Ronnie, of Parkersburg, WV, John Sams and his fiance, Amber, of Belleville, WV, Audrick L. Sams and his fiancee, Julie, of Vienna, WV, Daisy McVey and her husband, Dan, of Marietta, OH, Shane Sams, Brandon Sams and Kayla Sams, all of Wadsworth, OH, and Jodie Sams and Jamie Sams, both of Parkersburg, WV; great-grandchildren, Justin Weaver and Gregory Weaver, both of Nashville, TN, Devan Haddox of Parkersburg, WV, Lindsey Sams and Sydney Sams, both of Vienna, WV and Kaylie Dugan of Belleville, WV; and his special dog and loyal companion, "Jake."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nora Jane Sams; and a sister, Lois Sams.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military graveside honors by American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ellen M. Fletcher

Ellen M. Fletcher, 83, of Vienna, WV passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005, at her residence.

She was born in Parkersburg, WV on May 18, 1922, a daughter of the late Elwood and Effie Vaught Fox.

She was retired from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital with 16 years of service as a registered nurse. Ellen was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church since 1936, but upon moving to Vienna she became a member of Wayside United Methodist Church. She was past matron of the Vienna Chapter Order of Eastern Star 151; a member of Grand Cross Colors of Rainbow Girls; and past deputy instructor of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Camele Fletcher of Williamstown, WV; two granddaughters, Angelina Fletcher Resendiz of Charleston, S.C., and Paige Fletcher of Williamstown, WV; one great-grandson, Pablo Resendiz of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Fletcher, who passed away December 25, 1998; one granddaughter, Mary Ellen Fletcher; and one sister, Elsie Fox Wharton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with the Reverend Michael Richards and the Reverend Sandy Runnion officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where the Vienna Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star 151 will hold services at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502-1298.
