Irene E. Knight

Irene Elizabeth Full Knight, 78, of Vienna, WV passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005 at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born March 20, 1927, in Wood County, WV, a daughter of the late Guy C. and Addie F. Archer Knight. Irene was a homemaker and a child care provider and had worked in several local factories during World War II.

She enjoyed reading and arts and crafts; was a 40-year member of the 36th Street Church of Christ in Vienna; and will be remembered as a generous and loving person by her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Roger Blair of Lubeck, WV and Kelly and Deron Huffman of Belleville, WV; two sons, Richard Knight and his wife, Nancy, of Columbus, Ohio, and Douglas Knight of Vienna, WV; four granddaughters, Michelle (Scott) Turner, Nicole (Gary) Yoho, Danielle (Steve) Kemp and Dana Knight; four grandsons, Richard (Michelle) Knight, Chris (Sheila) Knight and Hunter and Travis Huffman; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Knight and Hazelene Posten, both of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Warren A. Knight; and her stepmother, Georgia Full.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the 36th Street Church of Christ, 610 36th Street, Vienna, WV with Evangelists Mark Mason and Tom Butterfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church.

Robert V. Wigal

Robert Vernon Wigal, 83, of Elizabeth, WV died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the Charleston Area Medical Center.

He was born in Wirt County, WV, a son of the late Tobe and Nettie Sprouse Wigal.

Mr. Wigal was retired from Borg-Warner with more than 22 years of service; was a World War II U.S. Army veteran; and a member of Rockport Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Martin of Toledo, OH and Carolyn Snider of Parkersburg, WV; two sons, Dale R. Wigal of Coolville, OH and Gary Wigal of Elizabeth, WV; a sister, Iva Burkhart of Rockport, WV; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Freda White Wigal in 2002; five brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with Evangelist Eugene Conger and Pastor Wayne Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Charles E. Parsons

Charles Edward Parsons, 88, of Vienna, WV passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born December 9, 1917 in Wood County, WV, a son of the late John and Sarah Myers Parsons.

Mr. Parsons was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and attended Marietta College; was retired from Walker Parkersburg Co. after 47 years of service; and was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church for 71 years.

Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eunice L. Brand Parsons; one son, Stephen B. Parsons and his wife, Lori, of Bloomington, IL; two daughters, Charlotte Layne and her husband, John, of Wilton, CT and Sarah Jane Beorn and her husband, Fred, of Pittsburgh, PA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, one infant brother and two sisters.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with the Reverend Dr. Mike Richards and the Reverend Sandy Runion officiating. Burial will follow in the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Good Samaritan Center, c/o Wayside United Methodist Church, 3001 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV 26105.

Mabel C. Lazzell

Mabel C. Turner Lazzell, 87, of Parkersburg, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness.

She was born September 8, 1918 in Gilmer County, WV, the daughter of the late A.L. and Lennie Kuhl Turner. She was a homemaker and loved to sew and crochet. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 14 and a former member of the White Shrine.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William W. Lazzell, whom she married February 13, 1960; one sister, Mayme McNemar of Glenville, WV; and five brothers, Hayward Turner of Ashland, OH, Harper Turner of Belpre, OH, Hobert Turner of Buckhannon, WV, Harless Turner of Glenville, WV and Heryl Turner of Elizabeth, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Turner, and a brother, Harold Turner.

She will sadly missed by relatives and friends.

Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Richard McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 1p.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Ryan Charles Jobes

Ryan Charles Jobes, 19, of Williamstown, WV died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 as a result of a car accident on I-64 near Beckley, WV.

He was born April 12, 1986 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of Brenda Britton Jobes of Williamstown, WV and John Denton Jobes, Jr. of Williamstown, WV. Ryan was a member of First Baptist Church in Williamstown. He was a 2004 graduate of Williamstown High School where he received numerous honors and awards. He was an eight time varsity letterman and participated in golf, tennis, cross country, track and basketball. He was a four year member of Student Council and vice-president of his class for three years.

Ryan was chosen as Parkersburg News and Sentinel 'Athlete of the Week' numerous times. Other accomplishments include being a member of Junior National Honor Society and the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program and winning first place in the WHS art show. Ryan was also the 2004 WHS Homecoming king. He received all LKC track and cross country and All Region cross country honors. He was the WHS male nominee for Wendy's High School Heisman Award and was featured in Sports Illustrated's 'Faces in the Crowd' for track and field. He was also listed in 'Who's Who in Sports' in 2002 and 2003. Ryan was the current WHS record holder in the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run. He won the 400m, 800m and 1600m and anchored the winning 1600m relay at the 2003-2004 'A' State Championship, setting state records in each event. His efforts helped Williamstown earn back to back team titles in 2003 and 2004. He was named the 'Most Valuable Athlete' at the 2003 and 2004 State Championships; earned the Ray McCoy West Virginia Track Athlete of the Year; was a 2003 State tennis runner-up in doubles; placed third in the 2003 singles competition; scored a game-high 32 points against Doddridge County during a 2004 basketball game tying the school record for the most three-point goals in a single game; and he was a one-time WTAP 'Student Athlete of the Week'. Ryan was given the Pat Woody Memorial Award for being the most outstanding student and athlete at WHS his senior year.

Ryan was attending the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA on a full track scholarship. Ryan placed third at the Atlantic 10 Championships in the 800 meters in 2005; was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice during 2005; and won the 500 meters at the Liberty Record Bash. Ryan was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; completed the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program; was a Youth Group Community Work volunteer; was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drive; and was a volunteer at the YMCA Summer College Intern Program.

In addition to his parents, Ryan is survived by his mother's fiancé, Mark Parker, and his stepmother, Kim Jobes, both of Williamstown, WV; one sister, Kristen Jobes of Williamstown, WV; a stepbrother, Brian Adams of Williamstown, WV; an aunt and uncle, Margy and Mark Royce of Columbus, OH; an aunt and uncle, Martha and Charles Britton of Flint, MI; and four cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Ruby Shinn Britton; and his paternal grandparents, John Denton Jobes, Sr. and Mary Frances Geiger Jobes.

Ryan will be sadly missed by his family, his many friends and his coaches and teammates.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Williamstown High School gymnasium with Pastor Jim Mike Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Williamstown First Baptist Church multi-purpose building and from Noon until time of services Friday at the Williamstown High School gymnasium.

The family requests memorials be made to the Ryan Jobes Memorial Track Scholarship Fund, c/o Williamstown Athletic Boosters, 219 W. Fifth Street, Williamstown, WV 26187.

Fred L. Sutton

Fred L. Sutton, 83, of Vienna, WV passed away Monday, December 19, 2005 at his residence.

He was born May 23, 1922 in Wood County, WV, a son of the late Lional E., Sr. and Marguerite Sager Sutton.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a combat engineer. He was retired after 55 years of service with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 565 and was a Methodist by faith.

Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna 'Peggy' Whitlatch Sutton; two sons, Daniel Sutton and his wife, Carol, of Vienna, WV and John Sutton and his wife, Amy, of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandsons, Nicholas and Lucas Sutton of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Helen Lamb of Vienna, WV and Martha Miller of Florida; two brothers, Lional Sutton, Jr. and William H. Sutton, both of Parkersburg, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Sutton; and three sisters, Elizabeth Epling, Hazel Boice and Lucille Kemple.

Visitation will be 6 - 9 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Reverend Dr. Kevin Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Herndon Chapel Cemetery.

Mildred L. Wood

Mildred Leone Lockhart Wood, 93, died peacefully Monday morning, December 19, 2005, in the presence of family at Birmingham, Alabama.

She was born July 27, 1912, into a family of 10 children, and is survived by three brothers, Don, Jake and Beryl Lockhart. She was a member of Camden Avenue Church of Christ.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Walter E. Wood.

Survivors include her son, David H. Wood of Birmingham, Alabama; five grandchildren, David Jr., Kristin Fisher, Milly Lynn, Jessica Griffin and Ellie Wood; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, WV. Mrs. Wood's grandson-in-law, Pastor Carl E. Lynn, will preside over funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at the Evergreen South Cemetery.

Robert L. Williams

Robert L. 'Bob' Williams, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away December 19, 2005, at his residence.

He was born November 19, 1927, at Sutton, WV, the son of the late Herbert A. and Erma G. Williams.

Bob was a U.S. Army veteran, testing equipment in Alaska during World War II. He worked for 13 years on the B&O; Railroad as a car inspector until the end of passenger service. He then worked at O. Ames Plant 2, where he retired after 27 years of service. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 104 and a member of the Camden Avenue Wesleyan Church. When he was able, Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors and his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Loretta Newell Williams. They were married June 1, 1950, by the Rev. John MacDonald in Fairmont, WV. Also surviving are his two children, Ronald L. Williams and his wife, Linda, of Leachtown, WV and Lois Anthony of Parkersburg, WV, five grandchildren, Jessica Anthony of Parkersburg, WV, Tiffany Williams of Leachtown, WV, Johnathan Williams of Parkersburg, WV, and Robert and Jack Haslip of Georgia; two brothers and two sisters, Arlie Williams and his wife, Wilma, of South Carolina and Arthur Williams and his wife, Alice, Sis Carper and Sue Davis and her husband, David, all of Francis Mines, WV; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, WV, with the Rev. Charles MacDonald and the Rev. Glen McClung officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nolan E. Wilson

Nolan Eugene 'Gene' Wilson, 73, of Vienna, WV passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Wood County, WV, a son of the late Ralph Nolan and Thelma Louise Dawson Wilson. He was retired from the Bureau of Public Debt, was a member of Vienna Baptist Church, a Boy Scouts of America member at large and a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran.

Gene is survived by his wife, Billie Sue Parsons Wilson; one sister, Betty L. Massey of Florida; daughter-in-law, Titica Wilson; two grandsons, Shawn and Nicholas Wilson, both of Pataskala, OH; one granddaughter, Jessica Wilson of Pataskala, OH; several nieces and nephews; and little furry friends, Molly, Nikki and Sahara.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Troy Wilson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with the Reverend Nathan E. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pearl Crall

Pearl Crall, 97, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Pearl was born July 13, 1908 in Belva, WV, a daughter of the late Mary Ellen Keith and Clark Copeland, and mother of Ted Crall, who preceded her in death. Pearl was a server for 45 years in Washington, DC and New York City.

Pearl is survived by a sister, Virginia Keen of Belle, WV; two granddaughters, Cathy Nielawaki and Lynn Gallo; two grandsons, Steve Crall and Vince Crall; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary in Arizona and the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV. Burial arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Arizona, 9155 N. Third Street, Phoenix, AZ 85020.

Lily N. Davidson

Lily Noreen Davidson, 82, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born in Parkersburg, WV on April 1, 1923, a daughter of the late Oak and Velma Knopp Taylor. She was retired after 35 years of service with Parkersburg Steel and was affiliated with Unity Faith Chapel.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Donzil D. Davidson, Sr.; one daughter, Joyce Gorrell of Belpre, OH; two sons, Charles Davis of Slate, WV and Michael Davis of North Carolina; two stepsons, Donzil Davidson, Jr. and James Michael Davidson, both of Parkersburg, WV; one stepdaughter, Helen Hall of Parkersburg, WV; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers, Blaine Taylor of Cummings, GA and Dr. Charles Taylor of Camp Nelson, CA; and one cousin, Helen Mohn of North Lima, OH.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with the Reverend Lloyd Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.

William E. Parkers

William E. 'Bill' Parker, 85, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 1, 1920 in Long Reach, WV, a son of the late Lemuel L. and Stella Holmes Parker.

Bill was a self-employed building contractor and carpenter who built several homes and churches in the area. He was a member of the Belpre Heights United Methodist Church and the Belpre Masonic Lodge No. 609 F.&A.M.; He loved to fish, garden and play his fiddle.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Melrose Parker, whom he married June 12, 1993; two sons, Bill Parker and wife, Cathy, of Coolville, OH and Mark E. Parker and Teresa of Belpre, OH; one daughter, Jo Ann Snow and husband, Dan, of Akron, OH; one brother, Simon Parker, of Listie, PA; two stepsons, Larry Kirkpatrick of Germany and William D. Golden and wife, Debbie, of Springfield, OH; one stepdaughter, Tanya Michelle Fairbanks of Belpre, OH; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lela Plack Parker; one daughter, Mary Louise Parker Allen; three sisters, Jessie Smith, Jean Tennehill and Juanita Jones; and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Avenue, Belpre, Ohio with the Reverend Paul McGuire and the Reverend Ray Wiblin officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Tatman Funeral Home, 220 Main Street, Belpre, Ohio and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Belpre Masonic Lodge 609 will conduct services at 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Belpre Heights United Methodist Church Building Fund, 720 Clement Avenue, Belpre, Ohio 45714.
