Robert J. Cook

Robert J. 'Cookie' Cook, age 78, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at his residence. He was born January 30, 1928 in Belpre, Ohio, a son of the late Richard Allen and Charity Seymour Cook. Robert worked various jobs in his lifetime and was a member of the Veto Gospel Tabernacle.

He is survived by five daughters, Connie Chamberlain of Circleville, Ohio, Chattie Blough of Canton, Ohio, Donna Cook of Vincent, Ohio, Bobbie Minges of Miamitown, Ohio and Geneva Welsh of Tarlton, Ohio; Lena Johnson, whom he thought of as a daughter; one sister, Fanny Seckman of Vincent, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and was very close to his nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Cook, ; two brothers; one sister; one granddaughter; and a very special friend, Wilma Vincent.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2006 at The Church of the Third Day Harvest in Waterford, Ohio with Rev. Wayne Vogelsong officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veto Gospel Tabernacle c/o Ruth Ankrom 4261 Veto Rd. Vincent, Ohio 45784.

Diane Emerick

Diane Emerick, 54, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 1, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital following a motorcycle accident.

She was born August 8, 1951, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Thelma Cox Shumake of Parkersburg, W.Va. and the late Eugene Shumake. Diane graduated from Parkersburg High School. She later received her bachelor's degree in nursing, was currently the school nurse for Williamstown Schools and formerly worked in the emergency room as a registered nurse at Selby General Hospital and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Parkersburg. Diane was a member of North Parkersburg Baptist Church. Her passion in life was her church and home remodeling.

In addition to her mother, Diane is survived by one daughter, Stacy Fuchs of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Jason Fuchs of Columbia, Maryland; one sister, Regina Spiker of Clarksburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Don Shumake of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Steve Shumake of Texas; four nephews; and one niece.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006 at North Parkersburg Baptist Church with Rev. Kent Boone officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the North Parkersburg Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

Erma R. Farrar

Erma Ruth Farrar, 83, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Ohio Valley Health Care, passed away April 29, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 20, 1922, in Gilmer County, W.Va., a daughter of the late David B. and Anna J. Moss Waldeck. Erma was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Gospel Church. She was an excellent cook, a devoted mother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by one son and his wife, David and Eleanor Farrar of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and John Belyus of Columbus, Ohio, and Pamela and Fred Hardman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Michael Farrar, Kristine Belyus Simmons, Lori Belyus Peairs, Veronica Wiggins Walls and Troy Wiggins; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Polly Sydensticker of Edgewater, Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Farrar; four brothers, Stokes Waldeck, Carl Waldeck, Wade Waldeck and Marion Waldeck; and two sisters, Opal VanHorn and Lou Wilson.

Services will be 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Mike Allen officiating. Interment will follow at noon at the Prudence Chapel Cemetery, Minnora, W.Va. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Luther D. Hopkins

Luther D. 'Shorty' Hopkins, 78, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away May 1, 2006, at the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born August 23, 1926, in Pulaski, Virginia, a son of the late David H. and Dora B. Gravley Hopkins. Shorty retired from Kaiser Aluminum and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Caplinger Hopkins of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sons and their wives, Steve and Margie Hopkins of Lowell, Ohio, and David and Diane Hopkins of Blacksburg, Virginia; two daughters, Missy Dawn Hopkins of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Brenda Stoll of Marietta, Ohio; one stepson and his wife, Lovie and Diedra Burdette of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several grandchildren, brothers and sisters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Hopkins.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va.. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary M. Clegg

Mary Margaret Sheppard Clegg, 81, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away April 29, 2006, at the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 4, 1925, in Wirt County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Albert J. and Grace McVey Sheppard. Mary had previously worked at the Vienna Florist and Vienna Pharmacy and she was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, William T. Clegg; a son, Thomas H. Clegg and his wife, Patti, of Plymouth, Wisconsin; a daughter, April J. Fry of Vienna, W.Va.; a sister, Eva Riggs of Vienna, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Aubri Tuttle, Sarah Fry, Britta Clegg and Lauren Clegg; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Tuttle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2006 at the Wayside United Methodist Church, Vienna, W.Va., with Rev. Michael C. Richards officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

Donations should be made to the Wayside Untied Methodist Church in her memory.

Beverly Jarvis

Beverly Ruth Ann Jarvis, 63, of Washington, W.Va., passed away April 30, 2006, at her residence.

She was born August 17, 1942, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a daughter of Ferrell and Thelma Starcher Griffin of Parkersburg, W.Va.

Beverly had worked at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital where she was a nurse and had retired from Mid-Ohio Home Health Care. She was a member of the South Side Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ira Leroy Jarvis; one son and his wife, Aaron and Natisha Jarvis of Williamstown, W.Va.; and two brothers, Joe Griffin of Little Hocking, Ohio and Eric Griffin of Caldwell, Ohio.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor David Dockery officiating. Entombment will follow a the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and until 10:30 Wednesday.

Ronzel R. Miller

Ronzel Richard Miller, age 53, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Minnie Hamilton healthcare Center in Grantsville, W.Va.

He was born March 17, 1953, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of Carl W. and Pauline Digman Miller of Davisville, W.Va. He owned and operated the Personal Touch Cleaning Service for the last two years and was retired from the O'Ames Company with over 33 years service.

Additional survivors include his wife of 33 years, Pamela Sue Varner Miller; a son, Richard P. Miller of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a brother, Gene Miller of McConnellsville, Ohio; a sister Carlene Dodd of Davisville, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Richard P. Miller II and Brianna C. Miller.

He was preceded in death by a brother Michael Miller. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Robert Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Walker, W.Va. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mary C. Perkins

Mary Catherine 'Katie' Perkins, 78, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away April 26, 2006, at the Marietta Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 19, 1928, in Jane Lew, W.Va., a daughter of the late Reese and Retta Smith Allman. Katie had previously worked at the Hi-Way Grille in Belmont, W.Va., Colonial House and the Arlington Personal Care Home.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Sigler of St. Marys, W.Va.; one brother, Archie Allman of Jane Lew, W.Va.; one sister, Beatrice Groves of Charleston, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Perkins; three brothers; and four sisters.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Friday a the funeral home.

Earl G. Martin

Earl George Martin, 85, of Vienna, W.Va., formerly of Smithfield, R.I., passed away April 25, 2006, at the Arbors in Marietta, Ohio.

He was born May 10, 1920, in Plainfield, Connecticut, a son of the late George and Clara Duxbury Martin. Earl served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He formerly worked at Rawl's Engineering in Providence, R.I., and retired from the Smithfield School System. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Smithfield, R.I. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Georgeville, R.I., and attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg, W.Va.

Mr. Martin is survived by two daughters, Debbie Goldsmith and her fiancé, Fred Winland, of Belpre and Donna J. Taylor and her husband, Robert, of New Port Richey, Florida; two granddaughters, Kimberly Reindeau of Strafford, N.H., and Beth Horne of West Greenwich, R.I.; two great-grandsons, Andrew Horne and William Reindeau; one sister, Doris Chambers of Smithfield, R.I.; an uncle, Albert Larose of Smithfield, R.I.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including a great-nephew, Carl Swanson of Belpre, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Bishop; and a brother, Kenneth Martin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Parkersburg, W.Va. with the Rev. Joseph Peterson as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Parkersburg, W.Va. with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va., where a combined Christian Wake and Rosary service will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Wood County Humane Society, the Marietta Humane Society, or Matthew 25, c/o St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Memorial contribution envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Kermit W. Lyons

Kermit Wayne Lyons, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away April 25, 2006 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Charles Okey and Beryl Toncray Lyons. He was retired from E.I. DuPont Co. after 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the National Rifle Association. He attended the Davis Memorial Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Flannery Lyons; three daughters, Sherri Taylor and Terri Rinehart, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Tammy Cox of Belleville, W.Va.; a brother, Raymond Lyons of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Judy Shaw and Karen Newbanks, both of Stewart, Ohio, and Norma Newbanks of Little Hocking, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five loyal friends, Gene Worstell, Ronnie Willison, Jack Dickson, Bob Pettit and Herb Lennox.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va.

Roy F. Fly

Roy Frank Frederick Fly age, 64, of Williamstown, W.Va. passed away April 25, 2006 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 14, 1941 in Premier, W.Va., a son of the late Eugene Frank Fly and Josie Alma Tinney Lockhart. Roy was the owner/operator of Roy's Texaco and was retired from Firestone. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post 159 Williamstown, W.Va., Golf Club of West Virginia and was an avid golfer and hunter.

Roy was a loving husband to his wife, Sarah Jane Dingess Fly whom he married April 20, 1960 and a loving father and grandfather of their two daughters, Valerie Lynn Fly McCants and her husband, Mark of Charlotte, NC and Tammy Jo Fly Hill and her husband, Eddie M. Jr. of Belmont, NC and two grandchildren, Alysa Rae Hill and Brandon Chase Hill; four sisters, Susie Purdue of Lubeck, W.Va., Mary Hess of Honaker, Virginia, Rhonda Myers of Bluefield, W.Va., and Jeanne Mitchell of Pittsboro, NC; one brother, John Fly of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Maude Fly and stepfather, George Lockhart; one brother, William (Bill) Gene Fly Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave Vienna, W.Va. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
