Barbara Mae Pearce

Barbara Mae (Braman) Pearce of Belpre, Ohio, passed away peacefully Nov. 15, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born December 7, 1932, to the late Burl and Kathleen Braman.

As a homemaker she was an avid cook and an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed tending to her African violets and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bernard D. Pearce; one son, Jonathon Jay Pearce and wife, Tamie of Belpre, Ohio; one daughter, Angelique Ann (Pearce) Pierce and husband, Michael of Broomfield, Colorado; a brother, Donald E. Braman and wife, Mary of East Jordan, Michigan; a sister Beverly (Braman) Fisher of Rockford, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Suzanne M. (Pearce) Seldess and husband, Zachary, Christopher C. Pearce and wife, Rachel, Brian D. Pearce, Jason E. Pierce and wife, Valerie, Charity S. Pierce, Benjamin D. Pierce, and Hannah K. Pierce; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter J. Pierce and Noah E. Pierce.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Private arrangements were made by her family at her request.

Robert E. Daley

Robert E. Daley, 80, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Nov. 13, 2008, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio.

He was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Clarence W. and Luella Deem Daley.

Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, co-owner of City Ice Company, member of the VFW and attended Pleasant View Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Damiano of Pennsylvania; two sons, Rodney (Kathy) Daley of North Carolina and Daniel (Donna) Daley of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five sisters, Betty Taylor of Parkersburg, W.Va., Donna Wigal, Vera O'Brien and Delores Graham, all of Florida, and Linda Townsend of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Tom Daley and Kenny Daley, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy A. Balser Daley; one sister, Grace Atkinson; and two brothers, Clarence and Paul Daley.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Jerry Caplinger and Pastor Loyd Winans officiating. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Carl R. Proffitt

Carl R. Proffitt, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Nov. 10, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 2, 1919, a son of the late James R. and Daisy Myrtle Knox Proffitt in Portland, Ohio.

He was owner and operator of Carl R. Proffitt Trucking Company. He attended Grace Gospel and Faith Baptist Church. He was a member of the Teamster Local 175. His hobbies included fishing and working on lawn mowers.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Orma K. Thompson Proffitt; one daughter, Linda (Bob) Smith; one son, James (Kate) Proffitt, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren, James Proffitt Jr., Tim (Nancy) Proffitt, Robin (Jurgen) Blugel and Scott (Deana) Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Katie, Lauren, Lindsay and Kelsay Proffitt, Chelsea and Andy Gainer, Tiffani and Ben Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Arlene Flinn, who helped care for Carl at his home, and the staff and nurses at Sunbridge Care Home and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

Annie Jane Lemley

Annie Jane Lemley, 86, of Vienna, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Nov. 8, 2008.

She was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Iva Smith Chambers. Annie Jane graduated from Camden Clark School of Nursing in 1944 and went to work immediately for Dr. F.L. Blair, for whom she worked 41 years and continued to work for Parkersburg Medical Associates until her retirement in 1985. Annie Jane was a 60-year member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Lemley of Philadelphia; her daughter, Julie Thorn and husband Jim of Vienna, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Brandon M. Thorn and wife Jenni of Vienna, W.Va. and Kristen Lemley of Altanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Jocelynn and Tori Thorn; one brother, Norman Chambers and wife Hopie of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Thomas Sams, whom was like a son to her and wife, Karen and their children, Cody and Kaylie of Texas; one niece, Nancy O'Brien of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; one nephew, David Chambers and wife Diane of Vienna, W.Va.; and special caregiver, Eula Jenkins of Williamstown, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert E. Lemley; and two brothers, Burgess and Banard Chambers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave .Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Sandy Runion officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Amedisys Hospice of Parkersburg, 417 Grand Park Drive, Suite 206, Vienna, WV 26105.

Lawrence E. Pitts

Lawrence E. "Mack" Pitts, 84, formerly of Vienna, passed away Nov. 6, 2008, at the Sunbridge Care Facility, Parkersburg.

He was born April 1, 1924, in Shirley, W.Va., a son of the late Floid B. and Mary L. George Pitts. He retired from the former Rockway/Universal Glass as a laborer and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a U.S. Army Corporal veteran.

He is survived by two nephews, Stephen Pitts and wife, Myra, and their children, David and Stacie, and Scott Pitts and his child, Ashlee, all of Vienna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Pitts and Benton Pitts; and one sister, Ruby Greathouse.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday November 10 2008 at Evergreen South Cemetery with Mr. Dave Cumpston officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert L. Thomas

Robert L. Thomas, 70, of Slate, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Nov. 7, 2008.

He was born Oct. 27, 1938 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Charles E. and Daisy Taylor Thomas. Robert was retired from G.E. Plastics in 1993. He was a Christian by faith and enjoyed attending revival services at different churches. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cheering for his two favorite football teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and WVU Mountaineers, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marie Thomas; two sons, Richard Thomas and wife Brenda of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Daniel Thomas and wife Jennifer of Vienna, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Richard Phillip Thomas, Joey, Rita, Ranessa and Rachel Thomas, Donald Burroughs and wife Kelly, and Amanda Burroughs; three great-grandchildren, Jenny Marie, Collin James and Carly Dawn Burroughs; one brother, Charles R. Thomas and wife Linda of Boaz, W.Va.; one sister, Gloria Jean Reese and husband William of Vienna, W.Va.; one brother-in-law, Walter Grewell and his wife of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Grewell.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Dean Ash officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mineral Wells, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday a the funeral home.

Walter Eugene Snyder

Walter Eugene Snyder, 81, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, formerly of Zephryhills, Fla., passed away Nov. 3, 2008, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born in Jackson County, W.Va., a son of the late Kenneth R. "Jake" and Bernice Hupp Snyder. Gene was a retired foreman of Weyerhaeuser, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Orr Felt Co. of Piqua, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served as a Seabee in World War II, and a past commander of Post 184 of the VFW of Piqua, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Lenoir O'Donnell Snyder of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; one daughter, Janet (Bob) McGinnis of Fredericktown, Ohio; one grandson, Robert Eugene McGinnis of New Castle, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth R. "Buck" (Lola) Snyder Jr. and Jack D. (Peggy) Snyder, both of Vienna, W.Va.; and one sister, Phyllis A. Leach of Davisville, W.Va.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert F. Barringer

Robert F. Barringer, 85, of Boaz, W.Va., passed away Nov. 4, 2008, at the Marietta Center.

He was born June 11, 1923, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Coley and Georgia Whitehead Barringer.

Robert was retired after 34 years of service with DuPont and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He loved golf and enjoyed fishing. He formerly attended Vienna Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Fern Marshall Barringer; two stepsons, Denver and Timothy Lee Barber, both of Cleveland, Ohio; step-grandchild, Steve Barber of Pennsylvania; three other step-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; nephew, Larry Crouser; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jake Barringer; and two sisters, Mildred Crouser and Mable Moss.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Jeff Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lillian L. Whited

Lillian L. Whited, 79, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Nov. 1, 2008 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 28, 1929, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lona Smith Hopkins. Lillian was a homemaker and a member of the 36th Street Church of Christ in Vienna.

She is survived by her husband, Howard O. Whited, whom she married May 25, 1946; one son, Howard Wayne Whited of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three daughters, Sandra Whited of Vienna, W.Va., Regina Sturms and husband, James, of Vienna, W.Va., and Debra Brake of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brother, Donald Hopkins of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Lawrence Whited.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.. Evangelist Mark Mason and The Rev. Arthur L Bennett III will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery North. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Freer R. Mace Jr.

Freer R. Mace Jr., 83, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Nov. 3 2008, at his residence.

He was born in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Freer R. and Pearl McPeek Mace. Mr. Mace retired as a pipefitter and enjoyed children, golf, and was an avid flyer and lover of aviation. He was known to many as the local Santa, having made appearances at the mall, numerous local events and also local parades over the years. He formerly attended Cornerstone Gospel Church of Vienna.

He is survived by two daughters, Jean Carol Hodges and husband Dwight of Brookhaven, Miss. and Deana Holbert and husband Brandon of Vienn, W.Va.; one son, Freer "Trey" Mace III and wife Barbara of Florence, Ky.; four brothers, Joe, David, Ike and Kenneth Mace; two sisters, Emma Lou Starcher and Patricia McGuinnis; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June D. Mace in 2004; two sons, Troy Hunter Mace and Boyd Lee Mace; two sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor William Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kerment Miller

Kerment Miller, 90, passed away Nov. 1, 2008, at Sunbridge Nursing Facilityin Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was born Sept. 22, 1918, in Spencer, W.Va., a son of the late Lemuel and Flora Dove Nestor Miller. Kerment was a Word War II Army veteran. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, W.Va., was involved in stock car and dragster racing, and loved driving his customized Lincoln.

He is survived by his only grandchild, Jennifer Kemp and her husband, Brett, of Canton, Ohio; two brothers, Quentin and Newton Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willidean Johns Miller; his daughter, Rebecca Miller Hall; brothers, Daris, Early and Archie Miller; and sisters, Emogine Burdette and Kitty Hannaman.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at Evans Cemetery in Gay, W.Va., with Pastor Gene Hutton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va.

Charles B. Dean

Charles B. Dean, 79, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away November 3, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born August 3, 1929 in Wayne Co., W.Va., a son of the late Charles and Hazel Davis Dean. He started his career with the B&O; Railroad and retired from CSX after 45 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, a member of Parkersburg Masonic Lodge No. 169 A.F. & A.M., a member of the VFW Post 5575, Parkersburg, served in the US Army as a Corporal, E.G. O'Banion, 2nd Lt AGC from 1951-1953. He was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital over 10 years in different capacities but his greatest joy was the Cath Lab and staff. He served as an election poll worker and he loved Bluegrass music and Gospel sings and his garden that he shared with neighbors and friends.

Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Benita J. Maynard Dean; two sons, Charles R. 'Randy' and wife, Jerry R., of Slate, W.Va., and Mark A. Dean of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; one daughter, Laura G. Dean of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Miranda Lewis and husband, A.J., Charles B. 'Brew' Dean II and Macey E. Dean; one great-granddaughter, Miryan Lewis; five sisters, Pansy Crossen and husband, George of Florida, Minnie Tice and husband, Robert of Parkersburg, Lois Hatfield and husband, Fred of Kenova, W.Va., Linda Bonecutter and husband, Ronald of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., Connie Jolly and husband, Dwayne of Gallipolis, OH; three brothers, Howard C. Dean and wife, Judy of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Dennis Dean and wife, Sue of Kenova, W.Va., and Jerry Michael Dean and wife, Cindy of Pt. Pleasant, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lou Miller.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 6, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Kevin Lantz officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen South Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 '8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, at the funeral home.
