Glen W. Wise

Glen W. Wise, 79, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Feb. 16, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late George W. and Marie Rachel Conger Wise. He was retired from Johns Manville, served in the United States Army during the Korean War, was past commander of the Vienna VFW Post 8127, a member of the American Legion Williamstown Post 159, DAV, Marietta Moose Club, Independent Order of Oddfellows and was a Methodist by faith.

Glen is survived by one son, David Wise; three daughters, Jo Ellen (Randy) Seebaugh, Karen (Mike) Cunningham and Sharon (Kirk) Ward; three grandsons, Richard (Candace) Seebaugh, Ezra and Adam Ward; and one brother, Lewis Wise.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audra Wise in 2000; an infant daughter, Rebecca Ann; and one brother, Donald Wise.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with the Rev. Dave Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Delbert J. Amos

Delbert J. Amos, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 16, 2009, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.

He was born June 17, 1923, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a son of the late Simon and Sarah Church Amos.

Delbert retired after 40 years of service at A.B. Chance as a dryer operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a life long member of Chapel Baptist Church, Nobe, W.Va., where he also was a deacon.

He is survived by four daughters, Rochelle (Steve) Bran of West Haven, Utah, Sandra (Brad) Francis of Parkersburg, W.Va., June (Ken) McCloy of Hockingport, Ohio, and Joan (Lance) Smith of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four sons, Robert (Bobbie) Amos of Burnt House, W.Va., Charles (Sarah) Amos of Walker, W.Va., Dennis Amos of Hockingport, Ohio and Paul (Vickie) Amos of Vinemont, Ala.; one sister, Reva Cundiff of Grantsville, W.Va.; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willadean Whipkey Amos; and one sister, Ruby Goff.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at the Chapel Baptist Church in Nobe, Calhoun County, W.Va. with Pastor Lorus Roberts and Pastor Jerry Malona officiating. Interment will follow at the Chapel Baptist Cemetery with full military rites. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. and from noon until time of the service Friday at the church.

Ruby I. Clise

Ruby Irene Clise, 91, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at her residence.

She was born July 23, 1917, in Mt. Clair, W.Va., a daughter of the late Roy and Elizabeth Lockhart Lytle. Ruby had retired from The Bank of Shinnston in bookkeeping and had previously worked for Wolfe Summit Coal Company and W.Va. Mine Supply, where she was a secretary. She was a member of the Shinnston Church of Christ and 36th Street Church of Christ of Vienna.

Ruby is survived by her daughter and her husband, Judith and Pat Minnite of Vienna, W.Va.; one sister, Vivian Brown, of Enterprise, W.Va.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Karmyn and Yale Conley, Pat and Tracie Minnite and Jason and Kristin Minnite; nine great-grandchildren, Cienna, Vinnie, Cale and Raemy Conley, Zayne and Jalyn Minnite, Aleena, Chase and Tanner Minnite; her companion and love, Pepe, her Boston Terrier; her caregivers, Karolyn and Pam; and a special thanks to Carmella and the other staff of House Calls Hospice.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Clise; one brother, Lawrence Lytle; and two sisters, Erma McIntire and Isabelle Wimer.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at the Harmer Funeral Home in Shinnston, W.Va. with Minister Edward "Eddie" Partain officiating. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. and from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston. Burial will follow in the Enterprise Cemetery Enterprise, W.Va.

Joyce J. Young

Joyce Jean (Wilson) Young, 75, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009.

She was born in Big Springs, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joy and Ethel (Davis) Wilson.

She was a Protestant by faith, a homemaker and later retired as bookkeeper for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8127. She was a charter life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 8127, Vienna, a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 2307 and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary 159.

She is survived by four daughters, Cathy Henrie (Gail), Patsy Young-Greiner (Steve), Mary Ann Wilkes (Harold) and Donna Griffith (Roger); three sons, Michael (Karen), John (Pam) and George (Kim); seven grandchildren, Andrew Styga, Rebecca Bostaph, April Tallman, Lukas Griffith, Sam Young and Matthew and Tiffany Wilkes; six great-grandchildren, Jade, Emily, Baylee, Avery, Landon and Carter; a sister, Pat Lucas; nieces, Jenny, Pam and Debbie; and a nephew, Sheldon. Also surviving is a special daughter, Cammie Manzo; a dear friend, Annabelle Wells; and all of her "adopted" children who knew her as "Mom Young" - you know who you are.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Young; one sister, Doratha Tingler; and a stepson, Stephen Lee Philips.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Mr. Dennis Pratt officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call between 5-9 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

Judith H. DeMoss

Judith H. DeMoss, 56, resident of Vienna, W.Va. went to the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009.

She was born and raised in Renovo, Pa., where she graduated from Bucktail High School. She later earned her associate's degree in Erie, Pa., and moved to Parkersburg, W.Va. in 1978 to work at the U.S. Department of Labor. She was employed for 30 years and worked as a senior claims examiner.

She was a loving daughter, mother, sister and best friend. She always put others before herself. Her captivating wit made an everlasting impression in the hearts of everyone she encountered. Although her time came too soon, she made a great impact on the world. She was born and raised Lutheran and kept her faith through her challenging fight. She will be loved and truly missed by many.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, William B. Leonard of Renovo, Pa.; and sister, Joyce D. Mase of Renovo, Pa.

She is survived by her three daughters, Tara E. DeMoss of Waterford, Ohio, Alison R. DeMoss of Morgantown, W.Va., and Erica N. DeMoss of Vienna, W.Va. She is also survived by her mother, Glennaire E. Leonard of Renovo, Pa.; sister, Tracey (Rick) Davenport of Renovo, Pa.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as her lifelong friends.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Neilson officiating. Burial will take place on Monday at the Fairview Cemetery in Renovo, Pa.

The family requests that donations be made in Judy's memory to the local American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 4451, 3901 Briscoe Road, Parkersburg, WV 26104.

Michael E. Longwell

Michael E. "Mike" Longwell, 53, of Davisville, W.Va., passed away on Feb. 10, 2009 at his residence.

He was born March 23, 1955, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Jo Ann Lott Kirk of Davisville, W.Va. and the late John Longwell.

Michael formerly worked at Kirk's IGA and Criss Concrete. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Lodge 3 A.F. & A.M. in Parkersburg.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tina Devins Longwell; two daughters, Jenny Longwell and Becky Smearman (Jimmy), all of Williamstown, W.Va.; two stepsons, Shawn Devins (Nikki) of Davisville, W.Va. and Joshua Smith of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Susie Goodwin of Davisville, W.Va. and Wanda Fought of Walker, W.Va.; one stepsister, Jenny Kirk of St. Marys, W.Va.; one brother, Roger Longwell (Pam) of Davisville, W.Va.; two stepbrothers, Joe Kirk of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Billy Kirk of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Kirk.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Jim Lynch officiating and Masonic services by Mt. Olivet Lodge 3 A.F. &A.M.; Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary L. Johnson

Mary L. Johnson, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went to be with the Lord and her loved ones on Feb. 11, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Braxton County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wirt and Lona Vanhorn Norman.

Mary was a homemaker and had formerly been employed with the Ideal Box Factory and also with the Masonic Home, where she served as a matron. She enjoyed going to church, traveling, knitting and was a member of Calvary Memorial Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Janet Sams and husband, Pete, of Lubeck, W.Va.; one son, John Richards, formerly of Parkersburg, now residing in Belen, N.M.; one granddaughter, Jeannie Moore and husband, Dennis, of Lubeck, W.Va.; one grandson, David Richards and wife, Melissa, of Farmington, N.M.; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of great close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Argil Richards; her second husband, Harold Johnson; two sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth at Calvary Memorial Church. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Margie V. Varner

Margie Virginia Varner, 79, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Feb. 8, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raymond E. and Margaret Morris Beall.

Mrs. Varner was retired from St. Joseph's Hospital after 27 years in the housekeeping division. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing, gospel music and working with flowers. She was also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy Varner of Vienna, W.Va. and Barbara Wigal and husband, Don, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Arthur L. Varner II and wife, Doreen, of Marietta, Ohio; three grandchildren, Eric Wigal and wife, Lisa, Stephanie Stephens and husband, Greg, and Elizabeth Wilson and husband, Danny; and six great-grandchildren, Seth and Brianna Wigal, Stephan, Jacob and Madelyn Stephens and Austin Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Arthur Varner in 1995; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Chuck Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Marion Louise Callaghan

Marion Louise Callaghan, 91, of Parkersburg passed away Feb. 6, 2009, at Cedar Grove Personal Care Home.

She was born June 28, 1917, in Winnona, W.Va., a daughter of the late Fred and Glenna Nelson Holland.

Marion graduated from Nuttall High School and went on to nursing school, obtaining her state nursing license from McKendree Hospital. She worked at the Beckley Hospital and finished her nursing career in Dunbar, W.Va., as director of nursing at the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center in Institute. She was a United Methodist by faith and a longtime member of the Eastern Star Chapter 59 of Winolia.

In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, William Richard Callaghan, who was a retired West Virginia State Policeman and a former Chief of Police in Parkersburg. Marion was also preceded in death by C. Harold Amick, a close family friend; a brother, Roy "Sway" Holland; and two sisters, Margaret Sandige and Pauline Lee.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Hill of Parkersburg; and son, William Fred Callaghan and his wife, Patti, of Tampa, Fla. Also surviving are her grandchildren who called her "Meme, " Belinda Bargeloh and husband, Mark, Charles R. Hill and his wife, Paula, Patty Hill, Kristen Pawlowski and her husband, Aaron, Stacy Clarkson and her husband, Robert, and Erin Callaghan; and six great-grandchildren.

Marion loved her job as RN at Rehab in Institute and the longtime friends she made there. She spent many happy years in the Dunbar area until she felt the need to move closer to her family in Parkersburg a few years ago.

Funeral services for Marion will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Evangelist Steve Fuchs officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Christian Cemetery at New England Ridge. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Mon., Feb 9, at the funeral home.

Edwin L 'Eddie' Coe

Edwin Lyle 'Eddie' Coe, 77, of Parkersburg, passed away on February 5, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 21, 1931, a son of the late Lipton and Brenis Alderman Coe, in Spencer, WV.

He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, was a painter at Corning Glass, US Army veteran during the Korean Conflict and a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lange Coe, one son, Mike (Melissa) Coe of Washington, WV; one brother, Curtis Coe of Parkersburg, one sister-in-law, Helen Coe of Marietta, OH; three grandkids, Dylan, Logan and Molly Coe; and several nieces and nephews including two special nephews, Oris Seabolt and Ruel Davis, both of Washington, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home.

Sara Jane Miller

Sara Jane Miller, 91, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Feb. 3, 2009, at the West Virginia Masonic Home.

She was born in Spencer, W.Va., a daughter of the late Virgil L. and Suewanee Kelley Harper. She was a homemaker, a member of the Vienna Chapter Order of Eastern Star 151 and the Wayside United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and enjoyed reading and sewing.

Sara Jane is survived by two grandsons, Douglass R. Miller and wife, April, and Kyle A. Miller and wife, Amanda; four great-granddaughters, Alexia, Taylor, Alyssa and Morgan; one great-grandson, Jace; daughter-in-law, Claudia Miller; one niece, Janie Bransetter; and one nephew, Tommy Lowrance.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alfred Miller Jr. in 1997; son, George Miller; one brother; and one sister.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with the Rev. Sandy Runnion and the Rev. Dr. Michael Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
