Evelyn Archer Wells

Evelyn Virginia Archer Wells, 83, of Williamstown, passed away December 12, 2008, at the Arbors in Marietta after a brief illness.

She was born February 22, 1925, in Jackson Co., WV, a daughter of the late Sumpter and Ola Balderson Archer. She was a teacher for many years in the Jackson County and Wood County school system and was a homemaker.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Wells of Williamstown; two brothers, Jack Archer and his wife, Rosemary, of Cottageville, WV, and Gerald Archer and his wife Janice, of Williamstown; one sister, Mary Frances Brown of Circleville, OH; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Archer of St. Marys, WV and Janet Archer of Sandyville, WV; good friend, Eula Rae Corns of Sandyville; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jordan and her husband, Lloyd of Keystone Heights, FL; two brother-in-laws, Ray Wells of California and Delbert Holleron of Parkersburg; numerous cousin, nieces and nephews; and former students.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Russell D. Wells, and by a brother, Wayne Archer.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at the Arbors of Marietta, who took excellent care of her for the last few months.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Robert Alfred officiating. Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery in Jackson Co., WV. Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Parkersburg Humane Society, 29th and Poplar Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Harold G. Gibson

Harold G. Gibson, 65, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away December 9 2008 at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Charleston, W.Va, a son of the late Theodore and Helen Honaker Gibson.

Harold worked as a truck driver for Affordable Asphalt where he was known by all as 'Pappy'. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and was always willing to help those in need.

Surviving are five daughters, Ruth Paulk, Tamara Bragg, Barb Facemyer, and Amanda and Erin Copley; five sons, Robert Lee, Timothy Wayne, Roger Eugene and Harold Gene Gibson III and Adam Bishop; two sisters, Rose and Ester Gibson; two brothers, Ted and Bob Gibson; grandchild, Brianna Gibson, who resided with Harold; 25+ grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Facemyer and Harold Gibson Jr.; one daughter, Debbie Hall; two brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St, Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Kenneth Fullerton officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

James Poling

James Poling, 90, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Eva, W.Va., in Ritchie County. He was the son of the late Walter E. and Edna Belle Cunningham Poling. James served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the 108th Infantry during World War II. He was a graduate of Mountain State Business College, was retired from working in production at E.I. Dupont Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parkersburg. He enjoyed his many friends at the Worthington Golf Club, as a charter member of the Senior Men's Club, as well as his friends in the Kelly Sunday School Class, and at the National Muffler Shop.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Isabelle M. Poling; his brothers, Carl, Glen and Gerald Poling; and one sister, Mary I. Poling.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeanie Brooks (Mark) of Marietta, Ohio; two sons, Steven J. Poling of St. Albans, W.Va., and David P. Poling (Rhonda) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Andrew Lipscomb (Kristina) of Simpsonville, S.C., Adam Lipscomb (Samye) of Seaside, Calif., Ben Poling (Rachel) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Jordan Poling, James Poling and Brooke Poling, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Kaeler Poling and Logan Poling of Parkersburg, W.Va.. Pappaw will be missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Richard D. McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dollie V. Cale

Dollie V. Cale, 88, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Dec. 8, 2008, at Ohio Valley Health Care Center.

She was born Feb. 16, 1920, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Leonard and Lily Chichester Gates.

She was a homemaker and attended the Camden Avenue Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son-in-law, William Rader of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; one sister, Lila Nichols of Vincent, Ohio; two grandsons, Chris Rader of Mineral Wells, W.Va. and Todd VanMeter of Rockport, W.Va.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry P. Cale; one daughter, Joyce Rader; and one sister, Nettie Higgins.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at Evergreen South Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va.

Ray Edward Casto

Ray Edward Casto, 79, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Ravenswood, W.Va., a son of the late Edward McKinley and Elizabeth Brown Casto. Ed was retired with over 27 years of service from G.E. Plastics. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and enjoyed trout fishing and watching football. He was a fan of WVU and Marshall and loved his family.

Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Mae Murray Casto; one son, Ray D. Casto of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Brenda Snider and husband, William, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and his only grandson, Kyle W. Snider of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Paul A. Casto.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jim Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Harry Leonard Biles

Harry Leonard Biles, 79, of Vienna, passed away December 7, 2008 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 24, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Daugherty Biles. He was retired from Dravo Sand and Gravel as a scale operator and was known as 'The Sandman'. He was a 15 year veteran of the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant; serving in Korea and Panama. He was an Air Policeman and received numerous medals including United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of 19th Street Church of God.

Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geraldine 'Gerry' Hitchcock Biles; four daughters, Deborah Wallace of Parkersburg, Kimberly Dawn Holsinger of Hampton, VA, Pam Denice Bey of Cleveland, OH and Gerry Lynn (Mike) Parsons of Vienna, WV; six sons, John Walter Biles of Parkersburg, Timothy A. Biles of Jacksonville, FL, Joseph Andrew Biles of Spokane, WA, Harry Leonard Biles, Jr., David Scott Biles and Darren L. Biles all of Parkersburg; two special sons he raised, Harold Blevins of OH and Doug Blevins of TX; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and a special niece Judi Nageleisen.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 PM at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Randell Fuson officiating with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

John Lewis Smith

John Lewis Smith, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Dec. 4, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at Landmark Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va.

Carolyn Sue Bailey Smith

Carolyn Sue Bailey Smith, 59, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Dec. 6, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 23, 1949, in Orma, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles G. and Evelyn G. Sears Bailey and had attended the Old Country Church at Walker, W.Va.

She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Wilson and her husband, Asa, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Amber, Ashley and Alisen Wilson; two sisters, Karen Lutz (Don) of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Mary Cooper (Gary) of Washington, W.Va.; two brothers, David Bailey (Cathy) of Ellwood City, Pa., and Chesley "Buck" Bailey (Wilma) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a best friend, Sally Snyder of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Dale Bailey; five brothers, Bernis, Dan, Charles, Roger and Jack Bailey; and three sisters, Irene and Iva Jean Bailey and Wilma "Faye" Vannoy.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Jack Brown officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery near Chloe, W.Va. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ira D. Fowler

Ira Dalph Fowler, 86, of Vienna passed away Dec. 5, 2008, at his residence.

He was born in Calhoun County, W.Va., a son of the late Bert and Clara Williams Fowler. He was a Baptist by faith and served in the United States Army during World War II.

Dalph is survived by one daughter, Dianna Lauer (Ken) of Rockport, W.Va.; one son, Ken Fowler (Pam) of Vienna; three stepchildren, Jackie Farkas of Milford, N.H., Donald Keith Fought and Michael Wayne Fought, both of Newark, W.Va.; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Mahaney Fowler; second wife, Avonell Dotson Fowler; third wife, Jean Fought Fowler; four brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday December 8 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Chris Mullens officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Grantsville, W.Va. Friends may call from 3-5 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday December 7 2008 and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

David Scott Tripler

David Scott Tripler, 37, of Vienna, W.Va., formerly of Philadelphia, Pa., died Dec. 1, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was married to the former Julie Ann Hall who survives. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two adored children, Brandon Scott, age 10, and Ashley Nicole, age 8, all of Vienna.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1970, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Leonard Tripler, Rhoda Chernow and Saul Chernow currently of Bensalem, Pa.; also his loving mother-in-law, Margaret Elizabeth Woodford-Hall of Vienna. He was the grandson of the late beloved David and Jean Tripler and Harry and Gertrude Barr, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; two brothers, Brett Tripler, wife Jodi and nephew Logan of Montgomeryville, Pa., Marc Tripler, wife Dawn and two nieces, Carly and Hailey and also nephew Ryan of Bensalem, Pa.; and three stepsisters, Julie, Gail and Sandra. He is also survived by his loving aunt, Maxine Tripler Gibson; and two cousins, Dave and Marcus all of Philadelphia, PA.

David was always a very hard working family man who cherished every member of his family and the time spent with them. Being born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., he was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan as well as the Flyers and Sixers. David's number one love in life was his two children and his devoted wife. He is and always will be the best, most devoted, kind, giving and fun loving husband, best friend and father there ever will be. He had and will always have unconditional love and happiness surrounding him at all times. He also deeply cherished the bond that he has with his two loving brothers, as well as the wonderful relationship that he had with his mother, stepfather, aunt and all of the rest of his family and friends that he held so dear, which are just too many to list. David never met anyone that didn't like and respect him. He will be so dearly missed by everyone and will be held close to our hearts until we are all together again in heaven with the Lord.

Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday December 7 2008 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, located at 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery in south Parkersburg.

Monetary contributions would be greatly appreciated and can be made at any United Bank for the Memorial Fund for David S. Tripler and Family.

Regina M. Carnes

Regina M. Poling Carnes, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Dec. 1, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Regina was born Nov. 15, 1923 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Mary and Omer Poling. She graduated from Parkersburg High School. She worked for 37 years at C & P Telephone Co. and was a member of the Pioneers of C & P. Regina was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Bereavement Committee.

She is survived by one sister, Cecilia Brown of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Paul Borrelli of Parkersburg, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Joan Poling, also of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two stepchildren, Ann Lerch and Steve Carnes of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five step-grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carnes, whom she married in February 1974. He passed away Dec. 2, 1989; four sisters, Eloise Matthews, Mary Franklin, Anna Pitt and Ruth Borrelli; and two brothers, Clarence "Bud" Poling and Charles Poling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Eric Hall as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, where Rosary services will be 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

It is requested by the family that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund, 532 Market St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Orma D. Korzep

Orma D. Korzep, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Dec. 2, 2008 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

Orma was born Sept. 14, 1920 in Windy, W.Va., the daughter of the late Roseberry and Elizabeth Hague Province. She was a homemaker, had worked at Gray's Drugstore and Stout's Drugstore, and attended Calvary Memorial Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Charlene Williams (Jim) of Vienna, W.Va., Karen Collins of Parkersburg, W.Va., Candy Morris (Lee) of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Debra Keiser of Vienna, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson; two great-grandsons; four brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
