Lowell Delbert Park

Lowell Delbert Park, 69, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away March 26, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 12, 1939, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Herschel W. and Mabel Criss Park.

Lowell was formerly employed in Akron, Ohio, as a factory painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flea-marketing. He belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Parkersburg, W.Va.

He is survived by one brother, Roma E. Park and wife, Joy, of Rainelle, W.Va.; three nieces, Dawn Earl of Harrisburg, Pa., Terri Martin of Akron, Ohio, and Amanda Withrow of Rainelle, W.Va.; and cousins, Janet Sams of Vienna, W.Va. and Larry Somerville of Parkersburg, W.Va.

Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Gihon Rd., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Mr. Jim Riggs officiating. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va.

Walter Albert Burk

Walter Albert Burk, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away March 25, 2009, at his residence.

He was born July 13, 1939, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Charles W. and Bertha L. Hall Burk. Walter was retired from the Carpenters Union Local 899, was a member of the 36th Street Church of Christ, Vienna, and was the best husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend.

Surviving is his loving wife of 45 years, Naomi Burk; three daughters, Alberta Burk Sands (Bob) of Vienna, W.Va., Anita Burk Evans (Mike) of Belpre, Ohio and Lee Burk Houser (Jay) of Vienna, W.Va. ; four grandchildren, Whitney Sands, Walter Houser, Mariah Sands and Kristen Houser, all of Vienna, W.Va.; three brothers, Thomas F. Burk, Charles W. Burk and Joseph N. Burk; nephews, Gregory S. Burk and Joey Burk, both of Walker, W.Va.; and several other relatives, friends and loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Sue Burk.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Mark Mason officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kathleen L. Dye

Kathleen L. Dye, 79, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away March 24, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Linden, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harley and Gladie Skaggs Greathouse. She was a homemaker and attended St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna.

Kathleen is survived by one son, Alfred W. Dye of Vienna, W.Va.; one daughter, Joyce Tucker of Elkview, W.Va.; three sisters, Louella Greathouse and Norma Jean George, both of Reedy, W.Va., and Carolyn Sue Reynolds of Spencer, W.Va.; two grandsons, Alfred Dye Jr. and Alex Tucker; one great-grandson, Adam Tucker; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Grace Marie Dye.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W. Dye; two brothers, Harley W. and Roy Greathouse; and one sister, Freda Hope Greathouse.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with the Rev. A. Arthur Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call two hours prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

Gladys Palmer Moore

Gladys P. Moore, 87, passed away at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.

She was the daughter of the late Ray and Elpha Palmer of Sandyville, WV. She retired from the south side K-Mart and also worked at the Viscose Co. and the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

Gladys was a life long member of the South Parkersburg United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School Superintendent for over 35 years and was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader there. She also was a volunteer for several years at the Wood Co. Senior Citizens Center and a volunteer for Easter Seals and UNICEF. Gladys loved quilting, crocheting, reading, and going to the beach.

She is survived by three children; Robert Moore and wife, Anita, Dianna Moore, Dean Moore and wife, Debbie; five grandchildren, Todd Moore, Scott Moore, Stacy Lynch, Aaron Moore, and Heather Kegley; three great-grandchildren, Tommy Moore, Ashten Lynch, and Cole Rizer; three brothers, Dale Palmer and wife, Bonnie, Paul Palmer and wife, Ida, Charles Palmer; three sisters, Jean Fauss, Dortha Palmer, and Alta Eddy; sister-in-law, Faye Palmer; and brother-in-law, Robert Kinney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Wayne 'Red' Moore; one sister, Roberta Kinney; one brother, Richard Palmer; and twin great- grandchildren Megan and Molly Lynch.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, at South Parkersburg United Methodist Church, Rayon Drive, with Rev. Carroll McCauley and Rev. Phil Prunty officiating. Interment will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg and one hour prior to services on Friday, March 27, at the church.

Lillian Mae Lansden Hylbert

Lillian Mae Lansden Hylbert, 101, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away March 22, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

Lillian was born in Nebo, Ky., on Jan. 14, 1908. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Parkersburg, and a former member of the Gilboa and Reedy Baptist Churches in Roane County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Quincy B. Lansden; her husband, Carl Hylbert; brothers, Herbert and Ernest Lansden; and sons, Robert Dean and James Andrew Hylbert.

She is survived by three daughters, Sue Alexander of Spencer, Faye Matics of Reedy and Patty Hylbert of Vienna, W.Va.; one son, Dan Hylbert and wife, Sara, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va.. Pastor Kurt Busiek of Emmanuel Baptist Church will officiate. Interment without service will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends will be greeted two hours prior to the service.

For those considering an expression of sympathy, memorials may be sent to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1710 23rd St., Parkersburg, WV 26101, or to a charity of choice.

Leonard Ernst Bruker

Leonard Ernst Bruker passed on March 23, 2009, at his home while family and friends gathered for support and care. In Leonard's passing, we are reminded of his courage, strength, honorable life and love for his family.

Leonard was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Dec. 4, 1924, the son of Lula and Leonard Bruker. Two siblings, Eleanor Lucas of Troy, Mich., and Alvin Bruker of Cincinnati, shared his childhood fun along with two stepbrothers, Roy and Clint Siegert. He entered the United States Army at the age of 18, landed on the Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, on June 7, 1944, with the U.S. Army First Infantry Division, and was wounded by a sniper the following day.

After returning to his home from World War II, Leonard met June Butler in June of 1951. They were married on Dec. 31, 1951. They lived in Cincinnati until 1970 and then moved to Athens County, Ohio, where they resided and finished raising their beloved children, Pamela, Leonard, Rebecca and Robert. In 2004, they moved to a smaller place in Belpre, Ohio.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepbrothers.

Leonard has 12 grandchildren, Rene, Kevin, Michele, Tara, Adam, Joshua, Timothy, Benjamin, Matthew, Jennifer, Augustus and Calista; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ryan, Paige and Drake.

Leonard was a life member of the DAV Chapter 37 and VFW Post 3477 (Athens, Ohio) and is also a member of American Legion Post 21 (Athens, Ohio).

The service will be performed by Pastor Charles E. Jarvis at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd., Belpre, Ohio with full military rites by Athens American Legion and VFW of Athens and Albany. Viewing hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests that donations be sent to Washington County Hospice, 210 N. Seventh Street, Marietta, OH 45750, or the O'Neill Senior Center, 333 Fourth St., Marietta, OH 45750.

Virginia Mahone

Virginia Kathleen Adkins Mahone, 39, of Parkersburg, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH.

She was born January 25, 1970, a daughter of Denvil and Kathy Berrier Adkins, in Charleston, WV.

Virginia was a 1988 graduate of Wirt County High School where she was a member of the band and flag corp. She was a homemaker, Service Unit Administrator for the Black Diamond Girl Scout Council and a Girl Scout leader. She loved spending time with her kids, painting, flowers and horses. She was a member of the former House of Prayer in Newark.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Nik Mahone, whom she married July 15, 1995; three daughters, Magen Whited of Ravenswood, Katrina and Mystik Mahone of Parkersburg; one step-daughter, Stormie Mahone of Ravenswood; one step-son, Jacob Mahone of Ravenswood; two sisters, Kristy Buckley and Jean McCartney; one brother, Jeremy Adkins of Ravenswood; four nephews, Cahil and Kyle Adkins, and Isiah and Collin Mitchell; one niece, Jean Nicole Ayers.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sebert and Virginia Adkins, Lillian Woudema and Elwin Berrier.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Friday, March 27, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg with Danny Bias and Raymond Ray officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, and 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 26.

Memorial contributions may be made to any local Peoples Bank, In memory of Virginia K. Mahone.

Hazel I. Korzep

Hazel I. Korzep, 84, formerly of Belpre, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Roane County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jake and Mary Rader Williams. Hazel was retired and formerly worked at the Acropolis Motel in Parkersburg and at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Larry C. Korzep of Sebring, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Williams of Vienna, W.Va.; and a sister, Helen Dye of Belpre, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.

There will be no visitation or services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral & Cremation Services of Belpre.

William D. Burd

William Denton (Bill) Burd, 54, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Friday, March 20, 2009, at his residence.

Bill was born May 23, 1954, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of Mary Elizabeth Runion Burd of Parkersburg and the late William Robert Burd. He worked for several area contractors doing construction and concrete work. Bill was an avid NASCAR and football fan.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Grace Jerghian of New Orleans, La., and Rachel Burd of Parkersburg; one son, Samuel Burd of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Travis, Taylor and Peyton James; a sister, Mary Green of West Columbia, W.Va.; and a brother, Greg Burd and wife, Diane, of Williamstown, W.Va.

Funeral services for Bill will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Joe Busch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery North, Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from Noon until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the W.Va. Central Credit Union, 1306 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg, WV 26101, where an account will be set up to help with funeral expenses. Contribution envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.

Larry R. Davis

Larry R. Davis, 59, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home with his Savior Jesus Christ March 17, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Wilbur R. and E. Thelma Reed Davis. He was a member of the Rock Full Gospel Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, Dixie K. Board Davis; one sister, Linda (Paul) Holstine of Parkersburg; two brothers, Gary (Sandy) Davis of Melbourne, Fla., and Terry (Cheryl) Davis of Elizabeth, W.Va.; three nephews; one niece; three great-nephews; three great-nieces; and a host of other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-niece.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Rock Full Gospel Church, 3307 Emerson Ave., Parkersburg, with Pastor David Chisholm officiating. Parking will be available at the North Parkersburg Church. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Friendship Kitchen at the North Parkersburg Baptist Church.

Cremation services have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave, Vienna, W.Va.

Augusta Jo Florence

Augusta Jo 'Gussie' Florence, 79, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away March 17, 2009 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 26, 1929 in Vienna, W.Va., a daughter of the late Edgar and Mildred Dye Dawson. Augusta was a 1947 graduate of Parkersburg High School and had worked at McCrory's & Dils Brothers Department stores for 15 years. She was a member since 1943 at Lauckport Methodist Church, where she was a teacher, United Methodist Youth Fellowship Leader, choir member and treasurer for many years.

Augusta is survived by three loving sons and their families, Michael and wife, Rise, David and wife, Tara, and Joseph and wife Brenda; six grandchildren, Andrew and wife, Tara, Allison, Adam, Austin, Amber and Joey Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Avery James and Everett Michael; a sister, Neda Buckley; a brother, Dewey Dawson and wife, Phyllis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argil L. Florence in 1997; and her father and mother-in-law, Clement and Letha Florence.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Norman Butler and Pastor Kenneth Nolan officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Virgie A. Courtney

Virgia A. Courtney, 82, of Belpre, Ohio passed away March 16, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.

She was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Virgil and Lorene Wolfe Black.

She was a 1944 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She graduated from the St. Joseph's School of Nursing class of 1947, where she received her registered nursing degree. She retired from the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital in 1988. She was a very active member at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Belpre. Virgia was a generous and cheerful giver for local causes, especially the Actors Guild Theatre in Parkersburg.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William W. Courtney, whom she married Oct. 4, 1947; two daughters, Carol L. Alkire and husband, Wayne, of Little Hocking, Ohio and Susan M. Courtney of Belpre, Ohio; one son, William W. Courtney Jr. and wife, Maryanne, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Courtney Alkire of Little Hocking, Ohio and C.W. Alkire Jr. and wife, Dee, of Mentor, Ohio; one step-grandson, Doug Gunns of Maryland; and one sister, Vivian Pepper of Vienna, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lena Black.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio with Pastor David Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memory Gardens in Belpre, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 302 Maple St., Belpre, OH 45714.
