Marjorie V. Elder, 91, of Vincent, Ohio, passed away April 21, 2009, at the Heartland of Marietta, Ohio.
She was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Ripley, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Eva Sharp Shamblin.
Marjorie was a homemaker and former nurse's aide. She enjoyed gardening and her dogs.
Surviving is her husband of 44 years, Ray F. Elder; one daughter, Doris Vanfossen and husband, George, of Belpre, Ohio; two sons, Olin Webster Good Jr. and wife, Donna, of Vincent, Ohio, and Leo Good and wife, Edith, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Olin Webster Good Sr.; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd., Belpre, Ohio. Interment will follow at the Rockland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Grace Virginia Frye Houchen
Grace Virginia Frye Houchen, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away April 20, 2009, at her residence.
She was born in Hillsboro, W.Va., a daughter of the late Amos L. and Annie Buchanan Frye.
Grace previously owned and operated the Lynn Street Tavern and The Oak Hill Lunch, both of Parkersburg. She enjoyed watching television and going to her cabin. She also used to love taking Sunday drives with her late husband.
Surviving is one son, Richard E. Hooper of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Michael Hooper of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Melissa Stover of Powell, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren, Zakary and Amanda Hooper of Parkersburg, W.Va., Brooklyn and Hayden Borsard and Kyle Stover, all of Powell, Tenn.; one special daughter-in-law, Frances K. "Hooper" Wears of Washington County, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Karen Parsons of Ripley, W.Va.; a caregiver, Teresa Marlow of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest B. Houchen in 1996; seven brothers; and two sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the outstanding care given to Grace.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Marie Marks
Marie Marks, 83, passed away and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Braxton County, W.Va., the daughter of the late William Jackson and Bertie Elizabeth (Meadows) King.
She was a graduate of Normantown High School and attended Glenville State College. Marie had been a postmaster in Rosedale, W.Va., from 1960-1963. From 1963 to 1978, she had been credit manager at Montgomery Wards, from 1978 until her retirement in 1988, she was collections officer at Ohio Valley National Bank in Vienna. After her retirement, she worked part-time for Community Bank in Vienna in new accounts. Marie was a volunteer with Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital for several years. Marie was a very active member of Grace Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, served on the building committee, the stewardship committee, was a Sunday School, AWANA and Bible school teacher, active in 4-H as a leader and camp counselor and the Vienna Woman's Club.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Herman J. Marks, whom she married on Dec. 29, 1945; one daughter, Elizabeth Jean Simmons (Randy) of Parkersburg; one son, David H. Marks (Beverly) of New Bern, N.C.; four grandchildren, Nathan P. Simmons (Patricia) and Justin A. Simmons (Jymme), all of Parkersburg, A. Rene Lewis (Cory) of New Bern, N.C., and Melissa M. Marks of Parkersburg; and four great-grandchildren, Shayla Marks and Haley R. Simmons, both of Parkersburg, and Chelsea and Cory Lewis Jr. of New Bern, N.C. Her family was her sole meaning in life along with her church and her Lord and Savior. Marie and her family enjoyed many wonderful vacations in Washington, D.C., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Canaan Valley, W.Va., and Denver, Colo. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Marie White of Elyria, Ohio, and Faye Marks of Denver, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; and a special daughter, Angelita Garcia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Mirrell Newell (Elva), Rex Schafer (Glena), Harley King (Gladys) and Wes King; and seven sisters, Artha Carroll (Jack), Mary Williams (Gary), Stella Furby (Dewey), Ivy Miller (Bernard), Edith Carter (Orville), Virgie Jarvis (Cecil) and Hattie Digman (Ollie).
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Pastor Todd Hill and Dr. James McCullen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Lenora Poole
Lenora Poole, 87, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Ohio Valley Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Littleton, W.Va., a daughter of the late John J. and Ruth Knight Yost.
Lenora was a homemaker and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna.
She is survived by two daughters, Nita Smith (Brent) of Williamstown, W.Va. and Pam Snider (Randy) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Charles Michael Poole of Lowell, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Audrey Lipps of Ocala, Fla.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dewey Poole; and a sister, Margaret Wallace.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Cindy Eackle officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Helen L. File
Helen L. File, 87, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, at Wyngate.
She was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Vienna, a daughter of the late Forrest E. and Lillian McKibben Wheaton.
Helen was a homemaker, a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church in Vienna where she was active in the Christian Crusaders Sunday School Class, and was an active member of the Vienna Senior Citizens.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Barbara Cook (Bill) of Brandon, Miss.; a son, Dick File (Debbie) of Vienna; a brother, Noel Wheaton of Vienna; three grandchildren, Melissa Cook, J.C. File and Michael File (Brandis); and one great-granddaughter, Adelyn File.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. File; and two brothers, Forrest E. and William B. Wheaton.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, W.Va. with the Rev. Earle Arthur officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna.
Eleanore Moore Phillips
Eleanore Moore Phillips, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away April 12, 2009 at the Marietta Center and Rehabilitation Facility.
She was born August 11, 1924 in Cairo, W.Va. a daughter of the late Jim and Elizabeth Moore. Eleanore was a 1942 graduate of Cairo High School and attended the University of Akron.
In later life she wrote two books, 'Little Boom Town' and 'Little Bit of Heaven', both concerning her life growing up in Ritchie County, W.Va. and especially the oil booming years in the area. She was a Protestant by faith and very active in social affairs.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Abner Jerome Phillips Jr., who was with the postal service for 30 years. She also leaves two daughters, Elizabeth L. Pickens of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Gina Lynn Richards (Jim) of Vienna, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Charlotte Lenore Richards; one step-daughter, Sandra K. Hazelett (Terry); three step-grandsons, Dwight David Phillips (Debbie) of Washington, W.Va., Jerome Phillips III (Fern) of Parkersburg, and Kendall Ray Phillips (Beverly) of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Betty Moore Black of Mt. Holly, NC; six step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and leaves behind several nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Emogene I. Wolfe; and one brother Phillip Moore.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wed. April 15, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Harold Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Betty E. Hamrick
Betty E. Hamrick, 81, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away April 12, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Harrison County, W.Va., a daughter of the late William and Maggie Ruble Griffith.
Betty formerly worked at Seddon's Restaurant and was a member of the Vienna Church of God.
She is survived by one son, Lewis E. Hamrick Jr. of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Dunlap of Parkersburg, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis E. Hamrick Sr.; two daughters, Linda Lou Yates and Shonna Bacorn; one grandson, Ralph Yates; one sister, Helen Wolfe; and five brothers, Charles, Russell, Raymond, Ernest and Lawrence Griffith.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Wesley Vernatter officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery in Reno, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Alice M. Greiner
Alice M. Greiner, 83, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, at the Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility.
She was born Aug. 29, 1925, at Walker, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jesse G. and Edith K. Marlow Riley.
Alice retired from the former Misty Manufacturing Co. after 20 years of service and was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. She had also worked at Hills Department Store and St. Joseph's Seminary, was a member of the Liberty Street Church of God and enjoyed working all types of puzzles.
She is survived by one son, John Greiner (Alisa) of Davisville, W.Va.; four daughters, Cathy Greiner (Jeff Blankenship) of South Point, Ohio, Anna Adams (Don) of Wise, Va., Janet McKenzie (James) of Concord, N.C., and Donna Harmon (Rex) of Elk Park, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Riley (Helen) of Belpre, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew L. Greiner Jr.; one son, James Andrew Greiner; two sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Brian Harrell officiating. Paul C. Keyse
Paul C. Keyse, 78, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away April 9, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Augustus E. Keyse and Doris L. Smith Freed. He retired from Parkersburg Printing.
Paul is survived by his wife, Karen J. Keyse; sons, Paul E. Moore (Hui Chong) of Gadsden, Ala., Michael W. Keyse and Charles D. Keyse (Melissa), all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Kathy J. Carney (James) of Vienna, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Julie, Jason, Patrick, Eric, Kylie, Austin and Jimmy; and three sisters, Doreen Buchanan and Shirley West, both of Stockport, Ohio, and Sharon Davisson of Marietta, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Keyse.

Elsie May Burrows Reed
Elsie May Burrows Reed, 92, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2009, surrounded by her family at her residence.
She was born July 20, 1916, in Parson Drove, England, a daughter of the late Horace R. and Louisa Adams Burrows.
Mrs. Reed retired after 23-and-one-half years of service from Corning Glass, as an inspector and packer. She enjoyed ceramics and knitting, having knitted scarves that were sent to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and also to crew members of the inland waterways in the United States. She also was a volunteer for the Salvation Army. Elsie was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was often involved with the church book sales, and also the church food closets.
Surviving is one daughter, Pamela Parsons of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Michelle Parsons Turner and husband, Steve, of Slidell, La., D. Allen Parsons of Belpre, Ohio, Dean R. Parsons of Parker, Colo., and Heather Parsons Ferrell and husband, John III, of Belpre, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren, Michael Turner, Mark and Jennifer Parsons, Christina, Megan and Ashley Parsons and Cynthia, Christina, John IV and Julie Ferrell; and one sister, Hilda Tate of Stowmarket, England.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Reed; one sister, Grace Murfitt; and one nephew, Brian Tate.

Adrian Eugene Barnette
Adrian Eugene Barnette, 72, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away April 7, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Ashby and Mamie Parker Barnette.
Adrian retired from O'Ames with almost 25 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and attended the Christian Life Center.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Coomzes Barnette; two sons, Marvin E. (Brenda) Barnette of Washington, W.Va., and Adrian Barnette Jr. of Logan, Ohio; one daughter, Debbie (Bob) Arnott of Racine, Ohio; two stepsons, Kevin Roberts and Kenny Roberts, both of Belpre, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Sherry Schoolcraft of Belpre, Ohio and Pam Roberts of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Delora Pickens of Racine, Ohio; one brother, Alan M. Barnette of Orlando, Fla.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Emadene Kiefer Barnette in 2003; one daughter, Brenda L. Barnette; and two infant sons.
