William E. Hyde

William 'Bill' E. Hyde, 70 of Coolville, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side April 7, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Dec. 14, 1938 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Ira B. and Chloe Hosaflock Hyde. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He worked at the Pleasants Power Company and was a member of the Bethany UMC in Parkersburg.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cynthia J. Jenkins Hyde; step-daughter, Jill Jenkins of Philippi, W.Va.; two step-grandchildren, Phillip and Adriana; two sons, William 'Will' Hyde and Eric Hyde; a daughter, Dorie Conner; three brothers, Gary B., Ira D., and Victor G. Hyde; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Hyde Dotson; two brothers, Arden A. Hyde and Virgil E. Hyde; and his faithful companion of 16 years, his dog Trixie Ann.

The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. Services and private burial will be at the convenience of the family at Harper Hill Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made in memory of Bill to the Central Ohio Parkinson's Society, P.O. Box 16126 Columbus, Ohio 43216-6126.

Roy Maxwell Buchanan

Roy Maxwell Buchanan, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on April 6, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Roane County, W.Va., a son of the late Alexander L. and Gertrude Keffer Buchanan.

Roy retired from O'Ames Company after 42 years of service, as a machinist. He attended 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church, loved playing his guitar and singing gospel music, and enjoyed helping his family, friends and neighbors. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gedney E. Boggs Buchanan; two daughters, Patsy Smith and Virginia Nicholson, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Harvey Buchanan of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandsons, Daniel Faux Smith (Jennifer) of Boston, Mass., and Steven Smith of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Rose Nicholson of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and one great-grandson, Teddy Saffle of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Holly Bill, Mayford, Urie, Bernard, Orland, Carl, and Ray Buchanan; and two sisters, Francis Sampson and Virginia Buchanan.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Tim Burch and Pastor William Law officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Roger D. Nutter

Roger D. Nutter, 53, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on April 5, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 13, 1955, in Wood County, W.Va. a son of the late Delbert Ray Nutter and Goldie Hall Anthony.

Roger was a mechanic and loved to play his guitar.

He is survived by his life long girlfriend, Tonya Smith; three daughters, Christy Pippin of Parkersburg, W.Va., Beth Nutter of Ripley, W.Va., and Nikki Nutter of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Ryan Smith of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Janet Nutter and Sheila Nutter, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Regina Triola of Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Emma Nutter and Sophie Smith; two nieces, Missy Nutter of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Terry Batdorff of Akron, Ohio; two nephews, Austin Anthony of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Robert Lemon of Ohio; two special little buddies, great-nephew, Nathan Nutter and Katie Smith; and his stepfather, Leo Anthony of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffrey Anthony; and one nephew, Michael Nutter.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Ann Burton

Elizabeth Ann Burton, 76, peacefully went to be with our Lord and reunite with her beloved husband, "Lee", April 6, 2009, at her home in Elizabeth, W.Va.

She was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Jackson County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Noel and Ida Brotten Lockhart of Sandyville, W.Va.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Ravenswood High School and in her life she was accomplished in many things. She made many friends in her 76 years and enjoyed fishing, traveling, sewing, crocheting and cooking. She liked camping, crossword puzzles, collecting lighthouses, gardening and especially loved spending time with her family. She was a Methodist by faith, a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a loving daughter, sister and aunt.

She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Joe (Tammy) Burton of Elizabeth, W.Va., Danny (Linda) Burton also of Elizabeth, W.Va. and Frank (Melissa) Burton of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren, Shauna McGrew, Jodi (Andy) Cheuvront, Courtney (Jason) White, Staff Sgt. Adam (Racheal) Burton, Aaron Burton, Rachel (Jonathan) Gifford, Lane and Malloree Burton, Dan and Ben Roberts and Billy Thompson; 15 great-grandchildren, Camron McGrew, Nicole, Tyler and Cole Cheuvront, Logan and Madison White, Shawn and Devin Burton, Joey, Jake and Hannah Barnes, Ryan and Xavier Galusha, Rielee Burton and Maddox Gifford; seven brothers, Johnny (Faye) Lockhart of Sandyville, W.Va., Russ (Helen) Lockhart of Rockport, W.Va., Walter (Ellen) Lockhart of Parkersburg, W.Va., Orrin (Margaret) Lockhart of Mineral Wells, W.Va., David (Sandra) Lockhart of Lubeck, W.Va., Dale (Darlene) Lockhart of Georgia and Mark Lockhart of Sandyville, W.Va.; six sisters, Izetta (Everett) Patterson of Cottageville, W.Va., Jenny (Jim) Prunty of Parkersburg, W.Va., Sharon Franklin, caregiver, of Elizabeth, W.Va., Pauline (Roger) Cain of Sandyville, W.Va., Mary Lemon and Margaret Lockhart, both of Elizabeth, W.Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Lee" Burton; and one brother, Hubert Lockhart.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. Interment will follow at the Independence Cemetery near Sandyville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

William E. Nutter

William Edwin 'Ed' Nutter, 81, of Belpre departed this life peacefully April 3, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born February 24, 1928 in Newark, W.Va., a son of the late John W. and Carrie E. Fought Nutter.

Ed was retired as a foreman from Elkem Metals after 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the 568th Ordinance Heavy Maintenance Company having served in Korea. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Belpre; a 50+ year member of Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge No.3, Parkersburg; and an honorary member of Belpre Masonic Lodge No. 609. He enjoyed woodworking, watching baseball, breakfast at Hardee's and spending valued time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Tona Jeanne Renforth Nutter; his daughter, Kimberly S. Meredith and husband, Michael, of Belpre; three grandchildren, Craig E. Meredith, Lyndsey B. Meredith and Carrie L. Meredith, all of Belpre; a sister, Carolyn Cline and husband, Harvey, of Elizabeth, W.Va.; a brother, Charles O. Nutter and wife, Belma, of Belpre; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Vicki Matheny, Jane and Larry Deem, John Athey, Sam Church and the 'Hardee's Gang'. It was his belief that friends are family you find along the way.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre with Father David Huffman and Minister Stan Golden officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be 8 p.m. Monday.

For those considering an expression of sympathy, memorials are preferred to the Alfretta Meredith Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Ruth A. Collins Koerber

Ruth A. Collins Koerber, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed from this life on April 3, 2009, after an extended illness at the Willows Center.

She was born Aug. 7, 1924, to the late Joseph and Viola Green in Blue Springs, W.Va. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ and had devoted her life to Christ. She lived a Christian life loving people and gave a helping hand or kind word to all in need.

She had a passion for life along with her witty sense of humor. She loved gardening, sewing, playing horseshoes and tapping her feet to the music of her favorite local country singers. She composed two songs and it gave her much pleasure to sing them for all to hear.

She married the late Lawrence Collins in 1941. They shared 29 years together and raised seven children while living in Elkins, W.Va., until his death in 1970. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She later married Robert Koerber and lived in Paden City, W.Va.

The past three-and-a-half years with her health failing, she lived in Parkersburg where she could be near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence Collins of Elkins and Robert Koerber of Paden City; two sisters, Russie Howell and Susie Brenwalt; and two brothers, Floyd and William Green.

She is survived by seven children, Carolyn (Jack) Long of Vienna, W.Va., Juanita Armstrong of Tennessee, Dottie (Brian) Young of Columbia Station, Ohio, Donald (Beverly) Collins of Wakeman, Patricia (David) Vandevender of Kerens, W.Va., Deborah Smith of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Brenda (Harold) Huey of Vermilion, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. We will greatly miss her.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Mark Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens, Elkins, W.Va., where she will be with Lawrence, her first love. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Garnett C. Newlon

Garnett C. Newlon, 80, of Parkersburg, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2009 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 4, 1928 in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Ira and Maggie Fought Jones.

Her family was her greatest joy, she was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Marilyn (Raymond) Boyles, of Davisville, Janet Hysell, and Martha (Roger) Johnson, both of Parkersburg; two brothers, Lewis and Lloyd Jones; one sister, Evon Frazier; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; a very special friend and neighbor for 55 years, Betty Blair and family.

In addition to her parents, Garnett was preceded in death by her husband, David B. Newlon; a granddaughter, Melinda; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Monday, April 5, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg with Pastor Bud Corbin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 5, at the funeral home and Monday, April 6 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Minnie Virginia Huggins

Minnie Virginia Huggins, 96, of Belmont, W.Va., passed away April 1, 2009, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 3, 1912, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late George W. and Mattie Anderson Moore.

Minnie was a homemaker and took care of others in their homes throughout her entire adult life. She enjoyed playing cards and quilting. She formerly attended the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Waverly.

She is survived by one daughter, Elsie Dornan and husband, Tom, of Waverly, W.Va.; three sons, Richard Garrison and wife, Dorothy, and Russell and Ray Garrison, all of Waverly, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Forrest Garrison; her second husband, Carl Huggins; one daughter, Judy Jackson; two sons, Jack and Archie Garrsion; five daughters-in-law, Donna, Edith, Charlotte, Dottie and Lucille Garrison; three sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Randy Dornon officiating. Interment will follow at the Corbin Cemetery, Bull Run Road, Waverly, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.

Emmett I. Goosman

Emmett I. Goosman, 81, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away April 1, 2009, at Camden- Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 3, 1927 in Marietta, Ohio, to the late Elmer T. and Ethel Inghram Goosman.

Emmett graduated from Williamstown High School, where he played basketball. He was employed as a truck driver for Suburban Motor Freight for 38 years and also worked for Matheny Motor and Truck Company.

He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, 46th Street, Vienna, W.Va. He was also an avid fan of West Virginia University football and basketball. His favorite professional football team was the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his wife, Jonnie of 41 years; two sons, E. Keith Goosman of Denver, N.C., and Larry Goosman of Ellenboro, N.C.; one daughter, Christy Stacy of Mount Holly, N.C.; four grandsons, Karl Goosman, Josh Goosman, Justin Goosman and Keith Goosman of Pocono, Pa.; one granddaughter, Betsy Simmons of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Elinore Garrett of Rosemar Rd., Vienna, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon of Rosemar Rd. and an infant brother, Kenneth.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Erik Nielsen officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown, W.Va. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Gladys E. Bee

Gladys E. Bee, 91, of Georgetown, Ky., passed away April 1, 2009, at Georgetown Community Hospital, Georgetown, Ky.

She was born in Walnut Fork, W.Va., a daughter of the late John Alphes and Murella Mae Anderson Elder. She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

Gladys is survived by one daughter, Helen Hanlon (Perry) of Lexington, Ky.; two sons, John Bee (Donna) of Georgetown, Ky., and Ben Bee (Sandi) of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanley Bee on April 7, 2003; one brother, Dan; and three sisters, Lula, Velva and Ella.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with the Rev. Sandy Runnion officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennsboro Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Elizabeth Hardman

Mary Elizabeth Parise Hardman, 54, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away unexpectedly in Parkersburg on March 31, 2009.

She was born September 29, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Geraldine A. Schultz, of Columbus, Ohio and the late Albert V. Parise.

Mary was a program analyst at The Bureau of Public Debt for 18 years, enjoyed movies, crocheting and reading.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Christine Ellis and her husband, Fredrick, of New Matamoras, Ohio; two sisters, Candy DeLoretta and her husband, Bobby, of Wheeling, W.Va., Renee Parise of Illinois; five brothers, James Parise of Maryland, Bert Parise and wife, Sharon, Tom Parise and his wife, Rita, William Parise, Rich Parise and his wife, Andrea, all of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Parise; and her maternal grandparents, Charles and Ann Schultz.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Old Man Rivers, 703 Pike Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
