Shirley Shaffer

Shirley Presley Shaffer, 69, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away June 25, 2009 at the Trinity West Hospital.

She was born April 13, 1940 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Robert Presley and Fay Rhea Presley Jones. She was a homemaker and was a Lutheran by faith.

She is survived by one son, Glen Justice Jr. of Steubenville, Ohio; one daughter, Jeanette Justice of Mingo Junction, Ohio; two brothers, Ray Presley (Colleen) of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Jim Presley (Cheri) of Atwater, Ohio; two sisters, Arlene Hesson of Nashville, Tenn. and Ada Scott of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or services, burial will be at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mineral Wells, W.Va. at the convenience of the family.

Kathleen Virginia Stephens

Kathleen Virginia Stephens, 85, of Parkersburg, passed away on June 28, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born July 13, 1923, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late John and Ida Cale Townsend.

Kathleen was a Rosie the Riveter in Baltimore, Md., which was a cultural icon of the United States, representing women who worked in war factories during World War II. She was an active Democrat and worked the polls on Election Day. She retired from Grimm Construction as a bookkeeper and she sold real estate for Modesitt Reality.

Kathleen was survived by two daughters, Kathy Shepard (William C. Guffin) of Ravenel, S.C. and Karen Brethauer (Jay) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two sisters, Nelva Lewis (Shirley) and Roxie Elkhart, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four brothers, Otis Townsend (Nancy), Joe Townsend (Judy), Dick Townsend (Mary) and Jim Townsend, all of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, Roxanna Vaughn (Jason) of Charleston, S.C., Vanessa Burdette of Reidsville, N.C., Daniel Dickel and Toney Dickel both of Parkersburg, W.Va., Will Guffin and Charlie Swecker both of Charleston, S.C.; four great-grandchildren, Hailie J Vaughn of Charleston, S.C., Macen, Courtney and Jase Burdette all of Reidsville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands; three brothers, John Edward, Charles and Mitchell Townsend; and one granddaughter, Courtney Giffin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Rev. Gary N. Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to send a very special thank you to Rhena Stanley.

Michael L. Sinsel

Michael L. "Mike" Sinsel, 58, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away June 27, 2009, at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late Earl and Genevieve Dobbins Sinsel. He was retired after 32 years of service with E. I. DuPont, a 1968 graduate of Phillip Barbour High School, was a member of the AmVets, DAV, VFW and the Moose Lodge. Mike enjoyed playing poker, pool, NASCAR and hunting with his many friends at "The Cabin" in Wirt County, W.Va.

Mike is survived by his wife, Patty Davis Mullen Sinsel; three daughters, Amy Sinsel Cook (Dave) of Parkersburg, W.VA., Genna Sinsel (Brad Medina) of Woodstock, Ga., and Amanda Sinsel Heaney (Sam) of Vienna, W.Va.; one son, Adam Sinsel (Diana) of Virginia Beach, Va.; one stepdaughter, Kristin Delaney (Dave) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two stepsons, Sean Mullen (Kelly) and Rick Mullen (Yalanda), both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Loretta Newbert and Karen Caldwell, both of Baltimore, Md., and Patricia Mouser of Huntington, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Dylan Bock of Parkersburg, W.Va., Aaron Roberts, Jacob Sinsel and Kaylee Sinsel of Virginia Beach, Va., Nivia Medina of Woodstock, Ga., Nina Sinsel and Samuel Heaney of Vienna, W.Va.; stepgrandchildren, Allison and Kyle Mullen and Brock and Karli Delaney; and his beloved dog, "Molly Ann."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Takas and Janice Stoper; and three brothers, Robert, David and Gary Sinsel.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Carl Mouser officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Parkersburg Humane Society.

Mary Kathleen Wahl

Mary Kathleen "Kay" Riggs Wahl, 83, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away peacefully on June 27, 2009, at her home.

She was born March 19, 1926, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Clifford and Grethel McCollough Riggs.

Mary retired from the Internal Revenue Service. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Her beloved dog, Snoopy, gave her many years of companionship and comfort.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Connie Wahl of Vienna, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Stephanie Cunningham and her husband, Rob, of Westerville, Ohio; one grandson, Steven C. Wahl of Overland Park, Kan.; one great-granddaughter, Alexandra Cunningham of Westerville, Ohio; one sister, Betty Jo Wiseman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Clifford Paul Riggs of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two nieces; five nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale R. Wahl.

Memorial contributions may be made to Housecalls Hospice, 1226 Market St., Parkersburg, WV 26101. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna. A private burial for the family will follow on Thursday.

Lawanna Mae Wells-Waldron

Lawanna Mae Wells-Waldron, 63, of Waverly, W.Va. passed away June 28, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles and June Davis Snider.

Lawanna Mae was a homemaker and was also employed with Williamstown Bank until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers and especially enjoyed her family. She attended the Celebration Center of Marietta, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Waldron of Waverly, W.Va.; two daughters, Lisa Wells of Akron, Ohio, and Kimberly Stoops of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Charles Wells Jr. of Stow, Ohio; two sisters, Sandra Kidder of Reno, Ohio, and Debbie Salem of Bridgeport, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth Snider of Bridgeport, Ohio, and Douglas Snider of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two grandchildren, Krista Stoops of Charleston, W.Va., and Jennifer Stoops of Morgantown, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles "Pete" Wells in 1980; and two brothers, Charles and Marvin Snider.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Gordie Deer officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Clarence E. Vincent

Clarence E. Vincent, 86, of Coolville, Ohio, passed away June 28, 2009, at the Arcadia Nursing Facility.

He was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late A.A. and Lena McElfresh Vincent.

Clarence was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he was awarded numerous citations, including the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Service Stars and Bronze Arrowhead; the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars; an American Theater Ribbon; a Good Conduct Metal and a World War II Victory Medal. He later worked at the American Viscose Co. for 24 years, retired after 13 years as a machinist-tool and die maker from Kardex at Reno, Ohio, and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ota Nell Galland Vincent; two sons, Joseph E. Vincent (Susan) of Grove City, Ohio, and James W. Vincent (Pamela) of Delphos, Ohio; four grandchildren, Aimee McGee (Sean), Douglas Vincent (Veronica), Abigayl Vincent and Mitchell Vincent (Pamela); three great-grandchildren, David Bradshaw, Derrick Vincent and Jaden Vincent; and one special niece-in-law, Betsy Todd of Baltimore, Md.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1. 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor George Horner officiating. Burial will follow in the Torch Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Delores "Jean" Boone

Delores 'Jean' Boone, 78, of Belpre, Ohio passed away June 27, 2009 at her residence.

She was born July 31, 1930 at Fleming, Ohio, a daughter of the late Dennis A. Honesty and the late Sylvia I. Striblin Moore.

Jean retired from nursing with 56 years of service having spent 33 years with Selby General Hospital. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. Boone, of Parkersburg, W.Va., her son, Ira E. 'Ed' Boone, III and companion, Sandy, of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Glenna L. Smith and her husband, Sheldon, of Zanesville, Ohio; a granddaughter, Cassie Jean Bond and her husband, Justin, of Belpre, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Isabelle Bond of Belpre, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira E. Boone, Jr. in 2006.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Wash. Blvd., Belpre with the Rev. Terry Newman officiating. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are preferred to Amedisys Home Nursing and Hospice of Marietta. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Dorothy Eva Robinson

Dorothy Eva Robinson, 87, of Okeechobee, FL formerly of Vienna went to be with her Lord on June 25, 2009 in Florida.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921 in Parkersburg a daughter of the late Henry and Jessie Hickman Turner. She was retired from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital where she worked in the Laundry Dept. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she attended Church of Christ in Vienna.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn 'Sue' McCauley (Paul D.) of Okeechobee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Teresa Cutlip of Parkersburg, and Steven D. McCauley of Dallas, Texas; two great- grandchildren, Carmen and Collin Cutlip both of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Robinson; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel with Pastor William Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg.

Charles T. Frum, Jr.

Charles Tyson "Ty" Frum Jr., 48, of Belpre, Ohio passed away June 25, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Charles T. Frum, Sr. and Janet L. Harpold Frum of West Union, W.Va.

Ty formerly attended the Devry Institute and was self-employed in construction and as a building contractor. He enjoyed skydiving in his younger years, and in more recent years, enjoyed building airplanes and cars from scratch.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Thai R. Friend and husband, Jamey, of Parkersburg; two sons, Charles "Chase" T. Frum, III and Tyler J. Frum, both of Washington, W.Va.; one stepson, Timothy Fittro, II of Vienna, W.Va.; one twin sister, Bev Angus and husband, Randal, of Sandyville, W.Va.; one brother, Jayson V. Frum and wife, Jennifer, of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; one grandson, Jamey "JJ" Friend, II, also of Parkersburg, W.Va.; his ex-wife, Jane M. Davis of Washington, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kathryn M. Roberts

Kathryn Marie Roberts, 66, of Marietta, Ohio went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on June 23, 2009 at Marietta Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clark Lincicome and Vaundeva Nichols. She was a homemaker, enjoyed video games and puzzles, and the art of making conversation. She never met a stranger. Mrs. Roberts attended Open Door Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl A. Merrill and husband, Larry, of Parkersburg, W.Va., Lori L. Wriston of Marietta, Ohio, Jeffrey A. Wriston and wife, Alice, of Reno, Ohio, Tommy Wriston and wife, Rachel, of Cutler, Ohio and Scott L. Blevins and wife, Bobby Jo, of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; a brother, Paul Lincicome, of Wooster, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Elmer and Leola Lincicome and her husband, Paul Roberts.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Tunnel Cemetery, St. Rt. 550, Marietta with the Rev. Eva Snider officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd., Belpre.

Margaret L. Hardesty

Margaret L. Hardesty, 66, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Monday, June 22, 2009.

She was born in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of Ethlyn Pugh Clark of Vienna, W.Va. and the late Wayne Williams. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bible Baptist Church, enjoyed volunteering at Worthington Manor, singing in the church choir, fishing with her husband and was a big Elvis fan.

In addition to her mother, Margaret is survived by her husband, Paige H. Hardesty Jr.; one daughter, Lori Dunnington (Joe) of Arizona; one son, Brian David Beaver (Debbie) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Shirley Moyer (John) of Vienna, W.Va. and Wanda Elliott (Roy) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Danny Williams (Teresa) of Vienna, W.Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Hardesty of Florida; and her dog "Bear."

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Williams.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Dan Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dona L. Bonnell

Dona Lou Roush Bonnell, 79, of Washington, W.Va., formerly of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009, at her residence.

Dona was born Nov. 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Justine Roush Swierczek.

Dona graduated from Flemington High School in Flemington, W.Va. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Vienna Food Giant. She was a member of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and reading.

She is survived by three sons, Richard Bonnell and his partner, Mark Hernandez, of Arlington, Texas, Joseph Bonnell of Vienna, W.Va. and Daniel Bonnell and his partner, Timothy Wells, of Washington, W.Va. with whom she made her home; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donal Roush, of Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her adopted parents, Lulu and Emmett Roush; her husband, Robert E. Bonnell; a daughter, Cynthia Bonnell; a son, Robert E. Bonnell, Jr.; and four brothers, Emmett Jr., Joe, Ronal and Harry Roush. Funeral services for Dona will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, W.Va. with Sister Sandra Peraldo CSJ officiating. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
