Jerome Goetsch

Jerome Goetsch, 61, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed into spirit at his home on June 22, 2009.

He was born November 22, 1947, in Urbana, Ill., a son of the late Earl Charles and Natalie Mary Leland Goetsch.

Jerome graduated from the University of Texas in El Paso where he studied Geology. He went on to study for his CPA at Corpus Christi State University in Texas. He worked as a CPA for H&R; Block Tax and Business Service in Parkersburg for the last twelve years. Jerome loved organic gardening and carpentry.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie Gray Goetsch; one daughter, Chandra Goetsch; two sisters, Laurel Milan of Arcata, Calif., and Mollie Hoffmann of Houston, Tex.

Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, south Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be in charge of arrangements.

John 'Tom' Quick, Sr.

John Thomas 'Tom' Quick, Sr., 70, of Washington, W.Va., passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, at St. Josephs Hospital. He was born January 3, 1939 in Tuckers Creek, Wirt Co., W.Va., a son of the late Kenneth O. and Cora Powell Quick. . Tom was a 1957 graduate of Wirt County High School. He was a US Army veteran, having served from 1961-1964 (22 months in Special Operations in Vietnam).

Mr. Quick lived in Jackson Co., W.Va. for thirty-seven years with his wife, Margaret, where they raised polled Hereford cattle. He retired after thirty-eight years of service with E.I. Dupont as a mechanic and welder. Tom was a member of the Dupont Washington Works Fire Department and Hazmat Team; The Grand Lodge of W.V. A.F. & A.M. Wirt Lodge No. 82; Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, The Fraternal Order of Eagles; Nemesis Shriners of Parkersburg; and The American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. He was a lifetime member of The American Hereford Association, a lifetime member and Past Commander of the DAV Chapter 6; a lifetime member of the VFW 1212, a lifetime member of The Wirt County Fair 2005; and lastly, he was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the AMVETS 34.

Tom also volunteered for the 4-H, Wirt County Fair, and as a Wood County Veterans Van driver. He attended the Union Chapel United Methodist Church on Windy Ridge.

Mr. Quick is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Margaret Ott Quick; one son, John Thomas Quick, Jr. and wife Susan of Morgantown, W.Va.; granddaughter, Kimberly Noemi Ralich Quick, also of Morgantown; two brothers, Charles R. Quick and wife Neva and Rexie O. Quick and wife Patricia, both of Elizabeth, W.Va.; aunt, Garnet Park; uncle, Roy Powell; one nephew; and five nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at The Union Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Stilgenbauer officiating. Interment will follow at the K of P Cemetery in Elizabeth, W.Va., with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg and full Masonic rites conducted by Wirt Lodge No. 82. The family will receive friends from 2-8PM on Tuesday and from 9-11AM on Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home on Pike Street, south Parkersburg, and from 1PM until time of services at the church. Elise M. Metz

Elsie M. Metz

Elsie M. Metz, 87, of Parkersburg, passed away June 20, 2009, at the Arcadia Nursing Facility in Coolville, OH. She was born September 1, 1921, in Ritchie Co., W.Va., a daughter of the late Claude and Minnie Reed Wagoner.

Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and flowers.

She is survived by four daughters, Anna Satterfield of Parkersburg, W.Va., Shirley Armel and husband John of Reedsville, OH., Donna Arbygasse and husband Virgil, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Deborah Thompson and husband Patrick of Elizabeth, W.Va.; two sons, Ralph Metz and wife Barbara of St. Marys, W.Va., and Daniel Metz, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Metz; one granddaughter, Cindy Spencer; one grandson, Michael Metz; six brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM, Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg with Pastor Jimmy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the funeral home.

Beulah "Irene" Newton

Beulah 'Irene' Dimmick Newton, 83, of Parkersburg, and formerly of The Inn of Marietta, was called home to her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family, June 19, 2009 at the Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born August 9, 1925 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a twin daughter of the late Verne L. and Isa M. Keeper Dimmick.

Irene graduated from Parkersburg High School, entered into the Cadet Nurse's Corps which was developed to support the war effort during WW II as part of the Camden Clark School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1946. She continued her education obtaining her degree in nursing in 1972 from WVU Morgantown. She continued to work at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital as a nursing instructor and teacher and retired as Director of Staff Development. After her retirement, she taught nursing classes at the Parkersburg Community College and the Wood County Vocational Schools.

Irene enjoyed flowers, gardening, collecting bells and Shirley Temple Memorabilia, where she was a member of 'The Templers Club', and enjoyed writing poetry and short stories and authored three books. She also loved teaching and working with her granddaughters, was a long time member of the Baptist Temple Parkersburg where she was a Sunday School Teacher and served on numerous committees.

She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Newton and Darryl E. Newton and his wife, Roberta, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two granddaughters, Mariah Caltrider and her husband, Mark of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Brooke Schireman and her husband, Kevin of the Seattle, Wash. area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Newton, in January of 2009; one sister, Maxine Dimmick; two brothers, Robert and his wife, Grace Eileen White Dimmick, and Lawrence Dimmick; and one nephew, David L. Dimmick.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Dave Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Nurse's Alumni at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Baptist Temple Parkersburg or the Mid Ohio Valley Parkinson's Group.

Wilbur 'Bill' Lee Stone

Willbur 'Bill' Lee Stone, 75, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away June 18, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.

He was born May 28, 1934 in Springfield, Ill., a son of the late Vencil E. and Josephine C. Morris Stone.

Bill joined the Army National Guard at Delavon Army Base in 1955 and serviced until 1971. He was the proprietor of Bill's Appliance Store, were he provided service and repair. He loved to fly and took flying lessons. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church. He was known in the community by many as grandpa and dad.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Catherine Baysinger Stone; one daughter, Kathy Lee Stone of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four sons, Christopher (Jo) Stone of Wendell, N.C., Robert Stone of Ashland, Ky., Ronald (Joyce) Stone of Radcliff, Ky., and Wilbur (Evonne) Stone of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, JoAnn Pollard of Winnebago, Ill., Jesse (Terry) Stuan of Converse, Tex., Josephine (Charles) Hayes of Pennsacola, Fla.; two brothers, Daniel (Patricia) Stone and Warren (Katherine) Stone both of Dalavan, Ill.; eleven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eleven step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Harold Stone; two sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Jeff Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, at the funeral home.

Eddie H. Merrill

Eddie H. Merrill passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Creston, W.Va. a son of the late Henry and Edith 'Ada' Sink Merrill.

He was retired from FMC with over 28 years of service, and also worked at Rusco window company. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia 'Agnes' Lee Merrill; and three sons, Mark E. Merrill, Glen Merrill, and Gene Merrill.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Grey Merrill; and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.V. Visitation will be from noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Erma L. Dunlap

Erma Lorene McClung Dunlap, 67, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on June 15, 2009 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 31, 1941 in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles and Opal White McClung.

Erma was a secretary for Abraxas Foundation until her retirement. She enjoyed playing the piano and could play any gospel song, loved watching football and especially baseball, and was a charter member of Hope Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Scott) Monroe of Washington, W.Va.; one son, Chris (Heather) Wilson of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Bob McClung of Florida; three grandchildren, Bryanna Monroe, Adam and Allyssa Wilson; and a special niece whom she raised as her own, Rocki Louden of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2003, Leland Dunlap; three sisters, Virginia Walters, Scharlanna Ball and Charlotte Smith.

Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg with Pastor Tom Blake officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Thursday, June 18.

Earnest Carl Elder

Earnest "Ernie" Carl Elder, 74, of Belpre, Ohio passed away after an extended illness on June 13, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born March 10, 1935, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a son of the late Stessel and Ruth Jones Elder.

Earnest was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from G.E. Plastics, where he was a chemical operator. He had previously worked at Walker of Parkersburg and he loved to jog.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years and his caregiver, Edna Parker Elder; two daughters, Becky Wright (Mike) of Columbus, Ohio, and Beverly Maxwell (Mike) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Megan, Justin, Aaron, Mitchell and Macy; two great-grandsons, Trevor and Alex; four sisters, Wanda Tucker of Florida, Patty Toothman (Leon) of St. Albans, W.Va., Linda Metz (Bob) of Rockport, W.Va., and Wilma West (Bill) of Kansas; three brothers, Bill Elder of Florida, Willard Elder of Florida and Randy Elder of Vincent, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and lots of friends and neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son; and one sister, Barbara.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, Ohio with the Rev. Clay Sloan officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery of Belpre, with full military rites by the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Andrew Lee Nestor

Andrew Lee Nestor, 74, of Parkersburg, W.Va.died Friday, June 12, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 12, 1935, in Barbour County, W.Va., a son of the late Janness and Millie Shannebarker Nestor.

Mr. Nestor owned and operated The W.Va. Paint Company, a long-time Parkersburg business establishment, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and also golfing, having been members of both the Worthington Senior and also the Woodridge Senior Men's Golf Leagues. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Kelley Nestor; two sons, David Nestor and wife, Debbie, of Vienna, W.Va. and Mark Nestor and wife, Vicki, of Elizabeth, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Christopher Nestor of Dunbar, W.Va., Jason Nestor of Vienna, W.Va. and MacKenzie Nestor of Elizabeth, W.Va.; one brother, Waldo Nestor of Coeburn, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Kelley and wife, Grace, of Vienna, W.Va. and Thomas Kelley and wife, Cathy, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Odie Chapman and Elizabeth Wininger; and two brothers, Lotus Nestor and Janness Nestor, Jr.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Norman Butler officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
