Richard L. Biles

Richard Lee Sindledecker Biles, 58, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away May 27, 2009, at Eagle Pointe.

He was the son of the late Catherine Elizabeth Anderson Sindledecker Biles and Clyde Sindledecker. He had worked at the Blennerhassett Hotel, was a 1971 graduate of PHS, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Parkersburg and a leader of a Boy Scout Troop.

Richard is survived by four brothers, Melvin Biles Jr. (Jean), Mike Sindledecker (Paula) and Terry Sindledecker, all of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Jack Biles (Jean) of Augusta, Ga.; six sisters, Mary Slack (Ralph) and Linda Britton, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., Judy Grimm (Bob) of Belpre, Ohio, Leisa Rhodes (David) and Marilyn Biles (Scott), both of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Willa Biles of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Melvin Biles Sr.; brothers, Dale Anderson, Sammy Sindledecker and Frederick Biles; one sister, Rose Hostottle; one niece, Rosa Bostic; and great-niece, Catherine Elizabeth Bostic Ankrom.

Funeral services will be 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. with the Rev. Michael Seely officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va.

Amy A. Alexander

Amy A. Alexander, 89, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Aug. 31, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Sandyville, W.Va. a daughter of the late Wilmer and Della M. Bennett Staats. She had worked at Thorns Market, Masters Market and Roberta's; was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens of Vienna.

Amy is survived by one daughter, Doris Wildman (George) of Belpre, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wade Staats and Blaine Staats both of Williamstown, W.Va.; and daughter-in-law, Janice Alexander of Mineral Wells, W.Va.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira E. Alexander; one son, H. William Bill Alexander; one infant daughter, Helen Lee Alexander; and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Rev. Dr. Dan Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donald L. Barron

Donald L. Barron, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Talbert and Nellie Stanley Barron.

Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum, attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Vienna, W.Va. and enjoyed fishing with his stepson, Robert.

He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Lena M. Hart Barron; one stepson, Robert D. Spears Jr. and wife, Pam, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Jason, Amber, Amy, Beth Ann and Joey; and a sister-in-law, Mary Craven and her husband, Dennis, of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, William Barron; and a grandson, Adam.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Loyd Winans officiating. Burial will be in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with full military honors by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

E. Dale Siers

E. Dale Siers, 71, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went home to be with The Lord on Aug. 28, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 19, 1938, in Windy Ridge, Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Holly and Gladys Bridges Siers.

Mr. Siers was a 1956 graduate of Wirt County High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He retired in 1992 from DuPont Washington Works after 32 years of service. He was an avid Mountaineer fan, fisherman and especially enjoyed his family and camping. He was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lori Lee Lewis Siers, whom he married May 16, 1957; one daughter, Susan A. Wright and husband, Mel, of Washington, W.Va.; three sons, Allen D. Siers and wife, Marcia, of Belleville, W.Va., and twin sons, Gary L. Siers and wife, Rhonda, of Lenior, N.C., and Larry W. Siers and wife, Susie, of Purlear, N.C.; two sisters, Nancy Jackson and husband, Robert, of Belpre and Betty Porter and husband, Bill, of Parkersburg; and eight grandchildren, Lindsey Smith, Andrew Siers, Danielle Siers, Christopher Siers, Holly Wright, Stacie Siers, Kristen Siers and Ashley Wright.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ester Siers and Dorthy Bennett; and one brother, Richard L. Siers.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, at the Fairlawn Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Watkins and Pastor Greg Varndell officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, W.Va., and one hour prior to services Monday, August 31, 2009, at the church.

Louise A. Friedlander

Louise A. Friedlander, 90, of Vienna, passed away Aug. 26, 2009, at the Willows.

She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late Clarence M. and Bernice Snider Dollman. She was a homemaker and a member of Wayside United Methodist Church.

Louise is survived by two daughters, Diane L. Rice (Donald) and Pamela J. Brummett, both of Vienna; one brother, Carl Dollman of Vienna; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Blair Friedlander; one sister, Ruth Cunningham; one brother, Lester Dollman; son-in-law, Richard Brummett and one grandson, Jeffery Rice, who passed away February of 2008.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Rev. Dan Martin and Pastor Jon Lands officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund, 3300 Rosemar Road, Vienna, WV 26105.

Mark Anthony Hammonds

Mark Anthony Hammonds, 42, of Cairo passed away Aug. 26, 2009 in Parkersburg.

He was born May 17, 1967 in Columbus, Ohio. He was employed by the WV Dept. of Highways working on the Corridor 'D' Project. He previously was a PeeWee Football coach with the Parkersburg Ramblers, was a big Ohio State Bucheye fan and was a Baptist by faith.

Mark is survived by two sons, Anthony Sinnett and Zaiver Sinnett both of Cairo; and their mother, Teressa Sinnett. He is also survived by numerous family members in Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va.

Wanda LuJean DeLancey

Wanda LuJean DeLancey, 87, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Aug. 26, 2009, at Ohio Valley Health Care.

She was born in Pennsboro, W.Va., a daughter of the late William L. and Florence Ice Britton. She was a graduate of Pennsboro High School, had worked at the Pennsboro Garment Industry and was retired from Nashua Photo, was a member of 36th Street Church of Christ in Vienna and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

LuJean is survived by one daughter, Yolanda Newberry (Fred) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Michael Hogue of Middlebourne, W.Va., Shane Hogue of Cairo, W.Va., Angie Newberry of Belpre, Ohio and Dustin Newberry of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph DeLancey; one son, Michael Hogue; four sisters; and three brothers.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff of Ohio Valley Health Care for the kindness and care shown.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the 36th Street Church of Christ in Vienna, W.Va. with Mark Mason and Tom Butterfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellenboro Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Sandra K. Greathouse

Sandra K. 'Mamaw' Greathouse, 62, left his world behind on August 23, 2009 to be reunited with her best friend and husband, William J. Greathouse.

She is survived by her four children, Michelle L. Staats (Brian), Carrie R. Strahler, William J. Greathouse (Dena) and Kristi L. Sullivan (Christopher), as well as her brothers, Michael Winans and Eric Winans. She was beloved Mamaw to 11 grandchildren, Big Courtney, Danielle, Lil Courtney, Kaleigh, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Brandon, Elijah, Ayana and Miklynn. She was loved by her closest friends of 30 years, Clara Varner, Patricia Dearth and Becky Woods.

Our mom enjoyed the simple things in life, sand between her toes, a smore from the fire, and an ice cold can of coke. Although we would have enjoyed more time to share these things with her, we rest assured she is back in the arms of the man loved most and living happily ever after. Until we meet again mama"

Richard G. "Dick" Miller

Richard G. 'Dick' Miller, 91, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, W.Va.

He was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Floyd H. and Elizabeth O. Miller. Dick was a graduate of Waynesburg College and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.

He brought his family to Parkersburg in 1955, when he accepted a trust officer's position with Wood County Bank. He spent most of his banking career with Mountain State Bank in south Parkersburg, serving there as vice president from 1963 until his retirement in 1988. His late wife, Mary Lu Miller, was an English teacher at Van Devender Junior High School.

Dick was an active participant in a wide variety of community activities in and around Parkersburg, including Little League, Pony League and Babe Ruth League baseball, Boys Clubs and 4-H Clubs, as well as terms on the Wood County Recreation Commission and the Public Service Commission.

He is a 54-year member of St. Andrews Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school, among other leadership roles.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Baker of Waynesburg, Pa., and Mary Perrin of Avella, Pa.

He is survived by two sons, John G. (JoAnne) Miller of Springfield, Va., and Daniel (Debbie) Miller of South Charleston, W.Va.; a sister, Harriet Reed of Waynesburg, Pa.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. downtown Parkersburg. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Deborah Lynn Kennedy

Deborah Lynn Kennedy, 53, of Parkersburg, passed away August 26, 2009 at her residence.

She was born January 14, 1956 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Shirley C. and Janet M. Ball Sams of Vienna, W.Va.

Deborah graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1974 and she attended WVU-P. She was an artist, was employed by JC Penney, and Turquoise Spirit and was an Avon Representative for many years. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of the South Parkersburg Jehovah Witness Congregation.

She is survived by her parents; her husband David B. Kennedy; two sons, Aaron H. (Stephanie) Jones of Portage, Wis., and Brian W. (Jessica) Jones of Richmond, Va. And.; and three granddaughters, Kaeli, Taylor and Sydney Jones; and her great-grandmother, Frances Sommerville.

Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Ira Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Henry M. Nowak, Jr.

Henry M. Nowak, Jr, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away August 24, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital.

He was born March 30, 1924, in Lackawanna, N.Y., a son of the late Henry M. Nowak Sr. and Mary Monko Nowak.

Henry was a US Army veteran, an MP during World War II and awarded a Purple Heart. He was retired from Union Carbide in Niagara Falls, N.Y., was a member of the American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg and enjoyed doing magic tricks and telling jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Nowak; two daughters, Pam Snyder and her husband, Sammy of Rockport, W.Va., and Deborah Nowak-Hawkes and her husband, Colin of Ventura, Calif.; four brothers, Tommy Nowak of Iuka, Miss., Andrew Nowak of Lewiston, N.Y., Steve Nowak and Leonard Nowak, both of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; two sisters, Pauline Pucak and Margaret Urban, both of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Martin, Philip, Stanley, Frank and Paul Nowak; and two sisters, Helen Oliver and Mary Jane Baggos.

There will be no services and cremation services have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Pike St., south Parkersburg.

Joretta M. Foster

Joretta Mae Foster, 77, of Vienna, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born July 11, 1932, in Spencer, W.Va., a daughter of the late Sylvester and Lizzie Mae Langford Starcher.

Joretta retired from Nashua Photo and was a member of the River Valley Community Church of the Nazarene in Vienna.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte A. Marshall (Roger) of Vienna, W.Va.; two sons, Rex A. Foster (Kathy) and James W. Foster (Lisa), both of Vienna, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Crystal Marshall, Eric (Melissa) Marshall and Hillary, Kyle, Joshua and Alexis Foster; two step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James V. Foster; six brothers; and six sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, W.Va. with the Rev. John Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the Starcher Family Cemetery in Calhoun County, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the River Valley Community Church of the Nazarene, 1412 27th St., Vienna, WV 26105.
