Marjorie Barbarow Woofter

Marjorie Barbarow Woofter, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2009 at Wyngate Assisted Living Community of Parkersburg in the presence of her loving family.

She was born September 25, 1919 in Troy, W.Va., a daughter of E. Berkley and Nellie Alfred Barbarow.

Marjorie retired in 1984 from Lewis Co. Board of Education where she was a Teacher's Aid. She loved sewing, baking and cooking, was an avid Bible scholar and a Sunday school teacher. She was a Genealogist and a longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara J. Martino (Phil) of Vienna, W.Va.; five sisters, Marie Flaherty of Parkersburg, Lois Bode of Clendenin, W.Va., Betty Bracco of Waco, Tex., Janice Truitt of Salisbury, Md. and Phyllis Ruppert of Troy. W.Va.; and one brother, Donald Barbarow of Ripley, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Carlton C. Woofter; one daughter, Carolyn A. Woofter; and one brother, Berkley Barbarow Jr.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Pastors Chuck Ferrell and Shawn Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Weston, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 Saturday, August 22 and from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23 at the funeral home.

Betty Ruth Currence

Betty Ruth Currence, 79, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away August 21, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born September 30, 1929, in Brook County, WV, a daughter of Milton Loyd and Ruby Queen Smith.

Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed watching football. She was a former member of the 14th Ave. Gospel Mission Church.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Rebecca) Currence and Milton Currence, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one half brother, Jimmy(Dorothy) Barrett of Michigan; one aunt, Rita Little of Oregon; and two grandchildren, Timothy J. Currence of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Gregory T. Currence of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Currence; one daughter, Judy K. Currence; two sisters, Virginia Gilbert and Louise Nutter; one brother, William Smith; and her cat, Sassy, whom she dearly loved.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Alan Tenant officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23 at the funeral home.

Irene M. Coughlin

Irene M. Coughlin, 84, of Lyndhurst, OH, formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the Hospice of the Western Reserve of Cleveland, OH. She was born October 14, 1924, in Belpre, OH, a daughter of the late Charles A. and Stella Province Shepherd.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra S. Bakos of Lyndhurst, OH, and Linda D. Ballas of Canton, OH; one son, D. Patrick Coughlin of Largo, FL; two grandchildren, Patrick (Jill) and Matthew Coughlin; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Gerry Branch, Gloria Jean Thomas, Vonda Olsen, and Betty Stringer, all of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Norma Dominick of Canton, OH; three brothers, Charles and Franklin Delano Shepherd, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Stanley Shepherd of FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Coughlin; two sisters, Thelma Riley and Ella Louise Shepherd, who passed away as an infant; two brothers, Donald M. and Darrell R. Shepherd; and one grandson, Sean Velenyi.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Irene's nephew, the Rev. Richard K. Dequasie officiating. The family will receive friends from 11AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.

Erma Stump Hall

Erma Stump Hall, 88 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Aug. 18, 2009 at Worthington Manor in Parkersburg.

She was born May 11, 1921 in Gilmer County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Howard and Dessie Ferguson Stump.

Erma attended Glenville State College and was a former school teacher. She worked at J.C. Penney's, was a member of the Worthington Woman's Golf Association, and was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Hannah Gainer (Jeff); a granddaughter, Stephani Williams (Randy); and a great-granddaughter, Megan Rose Williams all of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Drexel (Dick) Hall; a sister, Kathryn Rose Stump; and a brother, Howard Stump.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm. Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

Ruth Ann Byers

Ruth Ann "Ruthie" Watson Byers, 68, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Aug. 16, 2009, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 15, 1941, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Grover and Ina Blackwell Watson.

Ruthie had worked for Colombo's Restaurant for over 45 years, was a member of the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church and enjoyed her grandchildren and visiting friends.

She is survived by two sons, William Ray Byers (Pat) of Belpre, Ohio and Carl Allen Byers (Michelle) of Waverly, Ohio; one daughter, Amy Marie Byers (Tim Frances) of Belpre, Ohio; one brother, Gerald "Smoke" Watson of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Donna Lattea and Sharon Gibson, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Amber Higgins (Tim), Brett Burner, Alicia Burner, Tyler Byers, Kristen Byers, Cody Byers and Madison Leisure; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Byers in 1997; and a brother-in-law, Jim Lattea.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles F. Barker

Charles F. Barker, 82, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went to be with his Lord on Aug. 16, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 25, 1927, in Gilmer County, W.Va., a son of the late Orval and Velma Kuhl Barker.

Charles retired from Williamstown Steel as a certified A-1 Welder. He enjoyed gardening and hunting and was a member of the NRA. He was also a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

He is survived by loving wife of 62 years, Ireta F. Leisure Barker, whom he married Feb. 1, 1947; one daughter, Deborah Havens and husband, Virgil, of Parkersburg, W.Va; one granddaughter, Christina Figueroa and husband, Erik, of Hawthorne, California; one great-granddaughter, Jamie A. Figueroa, also of Hawthorne, California; two brothers, Oval Barker and wife, Sarah, of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Jack Barker and wife, Charlotte, of Williamstown, W.Va; and one niece, Diana Ridenhour of Parkersburg, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jenkins, who passed away this past May.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Brian Long officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the funeral home.

Delbert Lee "Nephew" Henderson

Delbert Lee "Nephew" Henderson, 60, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Friday, August 14, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio, on October 25, 1948, a son of the late Henry and Lena McCall Newman.

Delbert worked construction, was employed with the City of Parkersburg, was a bus driver for Headstart, and was also a member of the Laborers Union Local #1085. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his best friend, Margaret (Gerald) Ebehart; three sons, Jose Henderson and wife Amy, Delbert Tyrone Henderson and friend Troi, and Tony Henderson, all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Paul Henderson and wife Lisa of Marietta, Ohio, and Romel Henderson and wife Cindy of Belpre, Ohio; grandchildren, Alexandria, Cassandra, Victoria, Robert Tyrone, Diona, Travonne, Shamar, Tiona, and Eron; and several neices, nephews, great neices and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Harbert Henderson.

Funeral services for Delbert will be conducted 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Jermaine McKinley officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen South Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Monday, August 17, 2009, at the funeral home.

Sandra M. Rice

Sandra M. Rice, 64, formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis, Ohio.

She was born April 2, 1945, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Oscar Ray and Hazel Eneix Rice. She retired from Nashua Photo after several years of service, was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling and watching her grandsons bowl.

She is survived by a son, Stuart Rice of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Hope Harmon of Washington, W.Va., and Etta Jane Boggs of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; a brother, Clark Rice of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a half-brother, Ray Curtis Fought of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two grandsons, Jeremy and Matthew Rice, both of Parkersburg, W.Va..

Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, W.Va., with Mr. Jim Lynch officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made toward Sandra's funeral expenses. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

David Allen Post

David Allen Post, 71, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. passed away August 13, 2009 at his residence.

He was born October 23, 1937, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Charles D. and Dorotha Full Post.

David retired from OK Trucking after 34 years of service, worked as a Toll Collector for 10 years at the Parkersburg Memorial Bridge, member of Masonic Lodge #3 and the Teamsters Local 175. He loved golfing, traveling and attending Parkersburg South sporting events. He was a member of Grace Gospel Church.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Crites Post; three children, Debra K. (Mike) Conger of Parkersburg, W.Va., David Allen (Karen) Post II of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Cynthia Dawn (Mark) Steele of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; three sisters, Susan (Jan) Weisfelt of Lockwood, N.Y., Jeanne (Darrell) Williams of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Janie (Wayne) Baer of Washington, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Sean Conger, Courtney Post and Cody and Logan Steele; one step-grandson, Brent (Kerry) Conger of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two step-great-grandchildren, Ciara and Chase Conger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank his caregivers 'Arlene's Angels' and Housecalls/Hospice for their loving care and support.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Audra Post; his grandparents who raised him, Henry and Virginia Post; and grandfather, Clarence Full.

A celebration of David's life will be Monday, August 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Roger Benson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16 and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

The family requested that donations be made to the Erickson All-Sport Facility, PO Box 3750, Parkersburg, WV 26103.

Kenneth Duwayne Smarr

Kenneth Duwayne Smarr, 59, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at his residence.

He was born April 20, 1950, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Kenneth and Willadean Griffith Smarr.

Kenneth was a 1968 graduate of Parkersburg High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the 3rd Battalion 26th Marines as an E-4 Corporal during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Parkersburg.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Duwayne Smarr Jr. of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Mona Beall of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a niece, Kristina Martin and her children, Jared and Alexis, all of Belpre, Ohio; and a nephew, Robert Beall and wife, Tricia and their children, Cody and Jamie, all of Belpre, Ohio.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Margaret Ann Smarr.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Chuck Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery at Pullman, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home. American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg will present full military honors.

Richard E. Wright

Richard E. Wright, 72 of Hockingport, Ohio passed away Tuesday August 11, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Carl and Frances Gove Wright. He was retired from the United States Marine Corps and had a passion for serving his country. He worked for Burns Security as a security guard, was a member of the Parkersburg VFW and the Troy Twp Senior Citizens. Richard enjoyed playing games with and having fun with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon Ann Wright; daughter-in-law, Julie of California; daughter, Roxanne Aguirre and husband, Jose of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Leanna L. Werner and husband, Ken of California; son, Carl J. Wright and wife, Cyndi of North Carolina; son, Richard 'Rick' E. Wright Jr. and wife, Sarah of Hockingport, Ohio; grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Michael and McClane Wright, Geneva and Madison Aguirre, McKenzie Werner, Katelynn Wright; one sister Susanna and husband, Gene Meredith of Coolville, Ohio; four nieces, Christine Burchwell, Linda DeGregory, Marlene Bolin and JoAnn Christiansen; one nephew, Michael Black; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William E. Wright; two brothers, William Wright and Robert Wright; and one sister, Patsy Black.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 15, 2009 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor George Horner officiating. Burial will follow in Carthage Gap Cemetery, Athens County, Ohio. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
