Glenda M. Hormel

Glenda Bennett Hormel of West Alexandria, OH, formerly of Little Hocking, OH passed away December 31, 2009, in Middletown, OH.

She was a graduate of Ohio Valley Beauty College and worked as a cosmetologist at Fiesta Hair Salon and Sue McCloy's Beauty Salon.

Glenda is survived by two daughters, Amy Pauley of Cincinnati, OH, and Angelina Fletcher of Cayce, South Carolina; two grandchildren whom she adored, Sadie Stump and Pablo Resendiz-Fletcher.

Also surviving are two sisters, Kim Snider of Little Hocking and Vicki Hudson of Bellefontaine; eight brothers, Norman Bennett of Mineral Wells, Jerry Bennett of Reinersville, Roger Bennett of Walker, Ronald Lynch of Mineral Wells, Rick Deere of Parkersburg, John Deere of West Liberty, Bobby Barnes of KY, and Wendell Barnes of TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Denzil and Norma Bennett and the late Elocile Barnes and Ronald Lynch; one sister, the late Rhonda Collins.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, in Belpre, OH with Reverend Melvin Conley officiating. Visitation will be from 2'4 and 6'8 p.m. Wednesday and until the time of services on Thursday. Interment will be in the Willow Island Cemetery in St Marys, WV.

Dorcey Isabelle Benson

Dorcey Isabelle Benson, 94, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with her Lord Jan. 3, 2010, from the Ohio Valley Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Wirt County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Henry and Delilah Hague Keesor.

Dorcey was a homemaker, had been a member of the Grange Farm Women's Club, was a member of the Calvary Memorial Church, enjoyed quilting, gospel music and her church but most of all she loved her Lord and her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Shelby Davis (Al) of Titusville, Fla., Glenna Gandee (Robert) of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Peggy Duncan of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Benson; a daughter, Bonnie Ellen Bauman; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Geraldine A. Dye

Geraldine A. Dye, 80, of Marengo, Ohio, formerly of Rockport, W.Va., passed away Jan. 1, 2010, at the Bennington-Glenn Nursing Facility, Marengo, Ohio.

She was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Effie Wayne Stanley. Geraldine was retired from the Wood County Board of Education, was a volunteer cook for the local 4-H group, was a choir director and loved to play the piano and sing. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mineral Wells.

She is survived by her two sons, Randy Dye (Joyce) of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Michael Dye (Marcia) of Rockport, W.Va.; two daughters, Vicki Norris of New Boston, Texas, and Barbara Holycross of Lancaster, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Dale A. Dye in March 2007; four brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Kent Cutright officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mineral Wells. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Stanley E. Eppert, Sr.

Stanley Eugene Eppert, Sr., 71, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 2, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born March 19, 1938, in Charleston, W.Va., a son of the late Charles H. Jr. and Margaret F. Eppert.

Stanley was a 1956 graduate of Dunbar High School and had played trumpet in the Charleston, W.Va. Youth Symphony Orchestra. He was formerly employed in sales. He held his private pilots license and enjoyed flying, traveling, golf, and cooking. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, a former member of the Elks Lodge and was an avid Mountaineer football fan. He was a master councilor of the Charleston W.Va. Chapter of the Demolay and was also a US Air Force veteran.

Surviving is his wife of forty-seven years, Janet Burgy Eppert; one son, Stanley E. Eppert, Jr. and wife Tracey of New London, PA; one brother, Charles Hayes Eppert III and wife Bonnie of Fairfax, VA; one grandchild, Lucy Eppert, also of New London, PA; and thirteen nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 7PM Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Rondal Moss officiating and full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 4PM until time of services on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Don R. "Butch" Stewart

Don R. 'Butch' Stewart, 71, of Milton, W.Va., formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away December 31, 2009, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born June 4, 1938, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Roddy and Grace Mullins Stewart.

Don retired as a tractor-trailer driver with the TNT Holland fleet. He enjoyed his family and working hard. He was Pentecostal by faith and enjoyed spreading the word of God as an Evangelist. He was a US Navy veteran, having served aboard the USS Newport News.

Surviving is his wife of thirty-five years, Adelaide E.J. Adams Stewart; three daughters, Connie Heaney and husband Denzil of Brookfield, MO, Josephine Montney and husband Elvin of Panama City Beach, FL, and Bridgett Stewart of Tallahassee, FL; three sons, Wayne Stewart and wife Katie of Vienna, W.Va., Donald Stewart of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Dave Souder of Vincent, OH; two sisters, Barbara Shockey and husband Alan of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Sue Quillen of Ravenswood, W.Va.; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond 'Spud' Stewart.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30PM Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Charles Caserta officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, W.Va., for the graciousness they extended to Don and also his family.

Lonny Ray Anderson

Lonny Ray Anderson, 58, of Williamstown, passed away December 31, 2009 at his residence.

He was born in Wood county, the son of the late William E. Anderson and Stella M. Jones Thompson of Parkersburg. He had attended Williamstown High School, served in the U.S. Marines and worked with the Boil Makers Union, NAPA auto parts store in Parkersburg and Rinks of Marietta, Ohio. Lonny enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, Nascar, woodworking, music and his grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Tammy Knight of Parkersburg, five brothers; Terry, Teddy and Bob Anderson all of Williamstown and Joe Anderson of Bradenton, Florida, Jim Anderson of Parkesburg, one granddaughter, Megan Walker of Parkersburg and his former wife, Sally Anderson Rasmussen of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his father and his 21 month old granddaughter, Kylie Rashelle Knight.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.V. with the Pastor Chuck Linder officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military rites by American Legion Post 15. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 a.m. until time of services Monday.

Don C. Curfman

Don C. Curfman, 71, of Lubeck, W.Va. passed away Dec, 29, 2009, at his residence.

He was born March 9, 1938, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Oadis and Vera Cornes Curfman.

Mr. Curfman was a 1956 graduate of Williamstown High School and a graduate of Marietta College where he received a bachelor's of science degree, major in chemistry. He retired after 34 years of service from G.E. Plastics as a research chemist. Don was a member of the American Chemical Society, Society of Plastics Engineers and the Star Dusters Western Square Dance Club. He loved life and enjoyed square dancing, skiing and traveling. Following retirement, many winters were spent in sunny Florida. As well, Don was a lover of the country life. He was a member of the G.E. Elfuns Group, was also a past member of the River City Runners and was a member of the Lubeck United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Thelma Rowley Curfman; two sons, Steven L. Curfman and wife, Sharon, of Vienna, W.Va. and Roger A. Curfman and wife, Donna, of Washington, W.Va.; one brother, Leo Curfman and wife, Norma, of Boaz, W.Va.; one sister, Faye Marshall of Belpre, Ohio; three grandchildren, Bradley A. Curfman and Ryan A. Curfman, both of Washington, W.Va., and Katie L. Curfman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three stepgrandchildren, Daniel, David, and Luke Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Curfman Gorrell.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Mark Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at the Burnt Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Ray F. Williams

Ray Floyd Williams, 82, of Lubeck, W.V., passed away December 28, 2009, at his home.

He was born September 11, 1927, in Parkersburg, W.V., a son of the late Ira and Blanche I. Williams.

Ray farmed his own land throughout his entire life, which he very much enjoyed. He also enjoyed country music and baseball, and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his great-niece, Jessica Deem Beers of Lubeck, W.V.; two sisters, Virginia and Betty, both of Parkersburg, W.V.; one great-great-niece, Skylyn Beers; special friends, Lesley Carter and Steve and Jeanette Knox; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Charles Benjamin Williams; and five sisters, Agnes, Iona, Juanita, Hazel, and Mary.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, WV. Inurnment will follow at a later date at the Lubeck Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be to the Wood County 4-H, Butcher Bend Rd., Mineral Wells, WV, 26150.

Adrian Lathey

Adrian Lathey, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Dec. 25, 2009, at his residence.

He was born in Given, W.Va., a son of the late Valcie J. and Sarah Ethel Taylor Lathey. Adrian was retired after 33 years of service to the Mason County Schools as a bus driver and was also retired from farming and raising Black Angus cattle. He was active for many years with the Mason County 4-H, the Mason County Fair Board and President of the Mason County Non-Teaching Personnel. Adrian was a dedicated member of the Vernon United Methodist Church for 45 years serving in many areas of the church's ministry. After retirement and moving to Pomeroy, Ohio, he became a member of Mt. Herman United Brethren Church where he was also very active.

Adrian is survived by his wife, Dolores Full Lathey of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two daughters, Linda Capehart (Frank III) of Pt. Pleasant, W.Va. and Winfield and Judith Cropper (Garey) of Virginia; one sister, Elva Richardson of Florida; one stepsister, Debbie Gregory; sister-in-law, Sharon Kelley and family; three grandchildren, Kristen Klute (James), Frank Howard Capehart IV (Reva) and Curtis Capehart (Krista); seven great-grandchildren, Kaya, Kyle, Gwyneth and Ainslee Capehart and Emily, Anna and Alex Klute; stepgrandchildren, Brittany, Autumn and Cassy Hauber; and eight nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Brown Lathey; second wife, Emma Lou Lathey; and two sisters, Carmen Baron and Ruth Bumgardner.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at the Mt. Herman United Brethren Church in Pomeroy, Ohio with the Rev. Peter Martindale officiating. Burial will follow in the Frye Cemetery, Mason County, W.Va. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, W.Va. and from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vernon United Methodist Church in Letart, W.Va., or Mt. Herman United Brethren Church Building Fund, 36411 Wicham Road, Pomeroy, OH 45769.

Cris Wayne Sartor

Cris Wayne Sartor of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Dec 21, 2009, at his sister's home in Morgantown, W.Va., after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Everett Wayne Sartor and Darla Cross Haffner.

In addition to his parents, Cris is survived by his stepmother, Linda Weser Sartor; his stepfather, Larry Haffner; three sisters, Lisa Lawrence of Tampa, Fla., Amy (Ed) Waugh of Morgantown, W.Va., Criste Cross of Cleveland, Ohio; one aunt and uncle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va.. Family will receive friends prior to services on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edwain I. Dennis

Edwain I. Dennis, 83.of Vincent, OH, passed away December 21, 2009 at his residence.

He was born October 8, 1926, in Belleville, WV, a son of the late-Lemuel and Freda Smith Dennis.

Edwain served in the U.S. Army in WW II, he was a member of the D.A.V, V.F.W., and Eagles, all of Parkersburg. He was a Baptist by faith and a retired Iron Worker from Local 787.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Anne VanCamp McElfresh Dennis; one son, Jack (Kay) Dennis of Vincent, OH; three daughters, Sharon Kimball of North Port, FL, Shirley Ann (Kenny) Eddy, of Cutler, OH; Pam (Donnie) Barringer of Portland, OH; three step-sons, Cecil Eugene (Teresa) McElfresh, Jr. of Walker, WV, Scott Alan (Martha) McElfresh of Spring Valley, WV; Brian Daniel (Blenda) McElfresh of Walker, WV;one step-daughter, Dianna Lynn (David) Cantwell, of Walker, WV; son-in-law, Mike Reed of Belpre; 16 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clair Dennis of Clio, Michigan; and one sister, Eileen Chapman of Mineral Wells, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and mother of his children, Helen Ethel Yoho Dennis, one son, Kenneth Eugene Dennis, one daughter, Linda Lou Reed, three brothers, Cecil, Bill, and Ira Dennis, and three infant brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 24, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, Ohio, with Pastor David Dailey officiating and full military honors presented by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Burial will follow at the Barlow Cemetery in Barlow, OH. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kathryn L. Dietz

Kathryn L. Williams Dietz, of Belpre, died December 20, 2009 at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

She was born September 2, 1919, in Reedsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Robey and Gladys Pickering Williams.

She was a graduate of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital School of Nursing; attended San Mateo Community College and West Virginia University. She served her nation in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II. She retired from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in 1984; a member of the Camden-Clark Auxiliary; life time member of American Legion Post 64 of Marietta; member of Pioneer Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by one son, Bill and wife Nancy; granddaughter, Katy; a sister Ruthanne Balderson and husband Lyle; one brother, Bill Williams; one niece, Kay Long and husband Jay; and a great niece, Courtney; special family friends, Tina Garland and husband Chris; and P. R. Marshall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Carolyn Williams and Lillian Pickens and sister-in-law, Wilma Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, Ohio, with Rev. David Choate officiating. Burial will follow at the Reedsville Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Camden-Clark Nursing Fund or Pioneer Presbyterian Church.
