Charlotte Lee Cory Bratke

Charlotte Lee Cory Bratke, 70, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Jan. 28, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 17, 1939, at Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Mabel Cory.

Charlotte was a graduate of the Carl Schurtz High School in Chicago and was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert E. Bratke; one son, Steven Bratke (Monica) of Vienna, W.Va.; two daughters, Sharon Garrett (Mark) and Susan Rader (Brian), all of Vienna, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren, Patrick and Anna Bratke, Kyle and Victoria Bratke, Wade and Kelsie Garrett and Mackenzie Rader.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Scott E. Bratke.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Crematory Services 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Bill Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Helen Ruth Gill

Helen Ruth Gill, 75, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 30, 2010.

She was born May 7, 1934 in Wilsonburg, Harrison County, W.Va., daughter of the late Okey and Geraldine Richards. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Helen is survived by a son, Barry Gill and his wife Erma of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Allen Gill.

There will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen O. Dye

Helen O. Dye, 80, of Belpre, Ohio passed away Jan. 29, 2010 at Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, Ohio.

She was born Jan. 15, 1930 in Spencer, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jake and Mary Rader Williams.

Helen was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and a homemaker. She was a member of Belpre Congregational Church and Eastern Star #541.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald D. Dye; a son, Gary L. Dye and wife, Melanie, of Belpre, Ohio; a brother, Charles R. Williams and wife, Bonnie Lou, of Vienna, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Marie Weltner and husband, Jeremy; step-grandsons, Josh, Jacob and Zack Ridenour; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Weltner; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Riel, Chessie Anderson and Irene Korzep; and three brothers, Roy, Paul and Russell Williams.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at the Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, Ohio with the Rev. Jeff Atwater officiating. Services will conclude with burial in Rockland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Delbert C. Wilson

Delbert C. Wilson, 77, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 27, 2010, at his residence.

He was born April 12, 1932 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Burkley Wilson and Pearl Mick Blosser. Delbert was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and had previously worked for the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Pearl Moeck (Ken Burdette) of Belleville, W.Va. and Betty Midcap (Monty) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; six grandchildren; a special niece, Helen Null (Charles Cutlip) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

Memorial services will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va.

Corinne C. Reeder

Corinne C. Reeder, 77, of Washington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2010 at Cleveland Clinic.

She was born March 10, 1932, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Arthur and Nellie Cokeley Combs.

Corinne graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1950. She was a member of Lauckport Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on the Mission and Flower Committees for the last 15 years. Prior to that she was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years, sang in the choir since she was a teenager and was on the Flower Committee for 20 years. She was a seamstress, a fantastic cook, and an avid gardener raising flowers and herbs.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold Jennings Reeder; two sons, Mark (Leslie) Reeder and Perry (Tina) Reeder, both of Washington, W.Va.; one daughter, Judy (Neal) Blake of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Anita Coplin of Ridgeway, Va. and Winona Halterman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and seven grandchildren; Tara (Andy) Piggott, Chad (Liz) Reeder, Andrew and Adam Reeder, Austin, Stacy and Derek Blake.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Combs.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Rev. Dr. Lloyd Hamblin and Rev. Dr. William R. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the funeral home.

Alice "Gerry" Johnson

Alice "Gerry" Johnson, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Jan. 26, 2010, at the Ohio Valley Health Care.

She was born Feb. 13, 1921 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late John E. and Pearl V. Zerkle Carroll. Alice was a homemaker and a member of the Moose Auxiliary 543 since 1965; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 15; and a member of the Camden Ave. Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Michael E. Johnson and wife Judy of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Bonnie L. Life and husband Raymond of Parkersburg, W.Va.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Johnson; one son, Thomas A. Johnson; and one sister, Thelma Carroll.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Dave Newberry officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Tom E. Gordon

Tom E. Gordon, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at the Arbors in Marietta, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Woodrow and Helen Eddy Gordon. He was retired from Borg Warner and Singer Sheet Metal and served in the United States Marine Corps.

Tom is survived by two sons, Lance Gordon and Scott Gordon (Melissa), both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Edith Gilchrist (Donald) of Parkersburg. and Pam Maslany (John) of Lewiston, N.Y.; and six grandchildren, Adam, Erin, Devan, Ali, Anna and Chase Gordon.

Quick with a funny comment and sly grin, Tom never met a stranger and was loved by all. Tom touched the lives of many children through his years of dedicated involvement with youth sports, Boy Scouts and Special Olympics.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating. The Gordon family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America Allohak council 1340 Julianna St. Parkersburg, 26101.

James E. Richards

James E. Richards, 86, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away January 26, 2010, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1923, at Cornwallis in Ritchie Co., W.Va. He was the son of the late Roscoe W. and Ada Marshall Richards.

He was a graduate of Cairo High School with the class of 1942. He entered the US Army in 1943 and served in Africa and the European Theater during WWII.

After his return to the states, he and his brother, Conard W. Richards, became partners in the Oil and Gas business. They drilled and produced wells in Ritchie Co., W.Va. He was a member of the Vienna Baptist Church, The Blinded Veterans Association, American Legion Post 64, was a fifty-year member of the Masonic Cairo Lodge No. 114, Scottish Rite, and the Nemesis Shrine.

James married Mary Lee Middleton on June 8, 1947, who survives him. Also surviving are their two sons and daughter-in-laws, James M. and Marilyn Palmer Richards of Elkins, W.Va., and Mark E. and Tonie Diamond Richards of Mt. Holly, N.C.; one brother, Conard W. and wife Lucille Richards of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one niece, Connie Burdette; one nephew, Gary C. Richards and wife Jane; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Friday, January 29, 2010, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Dennis Pratt officiating. Interment will follow at the Cairo Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the funeral home.

Due to family health issues, rather than sending flower arrangements, folks may consider an expression of sympathy be made to the Vienna Baptist Church or the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Delford "Dink" E. Smith

Delford 'Dink' E. Smith, 47, of Waverly, W.Va., passed away January 23, 2010, at his residence.

He was born December 27, 1962, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Delford E. and Janice Fitch Smith of Williamstown, W.Va.

Mr. Smith was employed in carpentry, which he was very gifted in. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. Also, he especially enjoyed Nascar.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Judy Ward and Denise Smith, both of The Colony, Texas; two brothers, Darryl Smith and wife Anita of Forney, Texas, and Jeffry Smith and wife Robin of Draper, Utah; several nieces and nephews, including, Miranda, Garrett, and Hannah Ward, all of The Colony, Texas, Kendall Jones, also of The Colony, Texas, Deron Williams and wife Amy of Salt Lake City, Utah, Rachel and Allyson Smith of Forney, Texas, and Grace and Jericho Smith, of Draper, Utah; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew, Denae, Daija, and Deron Williams Jr., all of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with the Reverend Jim Mike Ward officiating. Interment will follow at the Newland Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited for fellowship from 5-8PM on Friday, January 29, 2010, at the funeral home.

Violet Virginia Smith

Violet Virginia "Vi" Smith, 83 of Stow, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Jan. 23, 2010, at the Akron City Hospital.

She was born June 4, 1926 in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Perry W. and Veda B. Deaton Randolph. Violet attended Parkersburg High School, had previously worked for Corning Glass and was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, dining-out, and was an Ohio State Football and Cleveland Browns fan. She loved cats and collected a variety of items about cats.

Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Robert C, Smith; one son, Randy Smith of Stow, Ohio; one daughter, Sheila L. Northcraft of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Shirley Marie Sandel of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three grandchildren, Morgan Smith of Lakewood, Ohio, Sarah Smith of Akron, Ohio, and Miranda Smith of Peninsula, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Perry Randolph; and three sisters, Juanita Pinkston, Geraldine Edwards, and Isabella Fry.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Ella F. Buckley

Ella F. Buckley, 91, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.

She was born in Wood County, W.Va. a daughter of the late Orlando and Mable Hewitt Craven. Ella was a homemaker and retired from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following several years of employment. She was a United Methodist by faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Stephens (Vernon) of Davisville, W.Va.; three sons, Roger D. Buckley (Linda Sue) of Vienna, W.Va., William E. "Bill" Buckley (Neda Kay) of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Jack Buckley (Martha) of Vienna, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George William Buckley in 1955; one daughter, Catherine Lykens; two sons, Earl Blair Buckley and Roy Edward Buckley; one brother, Rev. Victor R. Craven; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ella will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor John Vermilyen officiating. Burial will follow in Herndon Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Blane A. Clegg

Blane Alan Clegg, 50, of Vienna, W.Va., died January 21, 2010, at his residence.

He was born July 22, 1959, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Ronald Clegg of Parkersburg, W.Va. and the late Rosaline Patterson Clegg.

Blane was employed for eighteen years with Goldsmith-Black as a driver. He enjoyed anything mechanical and especially enjoyed reading. One of his hobbies was also motorcycles, having had several of his own. He attended the Sunrise Church of Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Melinda Snyder Clegg; one sister, Joyce Parsons of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Ross Clegg of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Paul Clegg of Lubeck, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews, including nephew, Josh Barbe of Vienna, W.Va., whom Blane was very close to.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Monday, January 25, 2010, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. Cremation will follow and inurnment will follow at a later date at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12-noon until time of services on Monday, January 25, 2010, at the funeral home.

Cecil "Archie" Davis Sr.

Cecil "Archie" Davis Sr., 55, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at his residence.

He was born April 15, 1954 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Frances Amiss Davis of Parkersburg, W.Va. and the late Aloysius Davis Jr.

Archie was a 1972 graduate of Parkersburg High School, where he played in the PHS Big Red Marching Band. He retired from Corning/Schott Scientific after 33 years.

He enjoyed playing the guitar, teaching guitar, and writing music. He was a tournament chess player and loved online Texas Hold'em. He attended Bethel A.M.E. Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joan Mahone Davis whom he married May 30, 1975; daughter, Misty Lynn Davis (Jeffrey Strong) of Parkersburg; son, Cecil "A.J." Davis Jr. (Melanie S. Mann) of Parkersburg; two brothers, Aloysius "Scoop" Davis III, Easthampton, Mass. and Kevin J. "The Byrd" Davis (Wazetta E.) of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Jacy Nicole Davis and Marcus Andrew Mann of Parkersburg; and two nieces, Natasha Davis, Raleigh, N.C. and Crystal Davis, a student at WVU, Morgantown.

Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, January 25, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral & Cremation Services, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Deborah J. Watt officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be Sunday, January 24, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
