Evelyn Virginia Smith

Evelyn Virginia Smith, 85, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away Jan. 20, 2010, at her residence.

She was born June 24, 1924 in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Sidney Gordon and Freda Hoyt Johnson.

Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She was retired from the Columbus Auditor's Office and with her husband previously owned the Industrial Maintenance Company Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Robert Morris Chapter 372 of Columbus and a member of the Rockland United Methodist Church, Belpre.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Claire A. West of Cutler, Ohio; two brothers, Gordon E. Johnson and wife Janet of Vienna, W.Va. and Howard S. Johnson and wife Esther of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, who passed away in 1979, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Smith, June 23, 1998; and one sister, Dorothy Johnson in 2001.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Jack Berry officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lenora L. Ryan

Lenora Lulu Ryan, 85, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 18, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born August 20, 1924, in Wirt Co., W.Va., a daughter of the late Harvey and Tincy Jenkins Joy.

Lenora was a homemaker and had also previously been employed at the former Chancellor Hotel of downtown Parkersburg. She enjoyed her family and was a member of the Lynn Street Church of Christ of Parkersburg.

Surviving are her two loving daughters, Phyllis Lott of Palmetta, Florida, and Kay Lockhart and husband Clayton of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; five sisters, Audrey Little, Ruby Bennett, Nellie Carper, Jo Hathaway, and Ruth Collins; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ryan; two sons, Robert and Junior Ryan; one grandson, Valeano Rouse; three sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Minister Teddy Tackett officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8PM on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the funeral home.

Margaret E. Dunlap

Margaret Elizabeth Dunlap, 95, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at the residence of her niece, Edith Cordell, who was her caregiver for the last four years.

She was born Aug. 5, 1914, in Tucker County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Ruble Griffith. Margaret was a homemaker, life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 15, DAV, the AMVETS, and a member of the Eastern Star 140.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Dunlap; and seven brothers and sisters, Ernest, Raymond, Lawrence, Russell, and Charles Griffith and Helen Wolfe and Betty Hamrick.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Mary Zimmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010, at the funeral home.

Carolyn Sue McCauley

Carolyn Sue McCauley, 68, of Okeechobee, FL, a former longtime resident of Vienna, W.Va., passed away February 15, 2010, in Okeechobee, FL.

She was born July 2, 1941, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Carl A. Robinson and Dorothy Eva Robinson.

Carolyn was a former employee of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital as a unit clerk in surgery. She had attended Baptist Church in Florida, and had attended East Vienna United Methodist Church throughout her entire life as a resident of Vienna.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, Paul D. McCauley; one daughter, Teresa Cutlip of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Steven D. McCauley of Texas; and two grandchildren, Carmen Cutlip and Collin Cutlip, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.

Private services for friends and family will be conducted at 1PM Monday February 22, 2010, at the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor William Tomlinson officiating. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janet L. Sams

Janet L. Sams, 71, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away on March 23, 2010 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

She was born January 9, 1939 in Meigs County, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Forrest Smith Doherty.

Janet was a homemaker. She liked to bowl and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Sams; two sons, Richard S. (Nancy) Sams of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Randall Sams of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two daughters, Kathy Whitlatch of Saukville, Wis. And Charlotte (Kristopher) Wilcoxen of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, Larry Doherty; four sisters, Alma (Dale) Myers, Lucille Walker, Linda Drain and Evelyn Powell; six grandchildren, Randall Sams II, Dustin Sams, Krissi Whitlatch, Bret Wilcoxen, Zac Wilcoxen, and James Sams; one great-grandson, Hayden Sams; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters; and one granddaughter, Kelly Sams.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Evangelist Spencer Seeley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Janet L. Sams

Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2'4 and 6'8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, at the funeral home.

Martha Barton Civitillo

Martha F. Barton Civitillo of Mineral Wells passed away at Ohio State University Medical Center, Sunday March 14, after fighting a very courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Rome, Ga. on March 5, 1937 to the late Samuel Stewart and Eva Bell Stewart. She moved to WV in 1966 and this was her home since that time. She is survived by her only sister, Sandra Terrell (David) of Rome, Ga.; sons, Wesley 'Butch' Barton (Beckie) of Racine, Ohio and Mark Civitillo (Tina) of Newport News, Va.; and daughters, Carol Lambert of Centre, AL and Connie McCleary (Kevin) of Washington, W.Va. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jonathan Lane (Jennifer), Josh, Katie and Kassie Barton, Cole and Kelli McCleary, Ashley Civitillo and Steven and Sarah Robinson.

Martha was a long time fan of Georgia Bulldogs Football and PSHS Wrestling. She was loved by everyone that knew her and especially proud of all of her grandchildren and always ready with an update of their latest accomplishments. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg.

Avonell Mae Pierce

Avonell Mae Pierce age 80 of Mineral Wells passed away March 20, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Nicholas County, WV a daughter of the late Carlin H. and Janie Savage Jackson. She was a homemaker and a United Methodist by faith.

Avonell is survived by her husband Delbert Pierce; one daughter Barbara Weaver of Mineral Wells; three sisters Elaine Barcley of Waverly, Marcella Rake (Paul) of Parkersburg and Charlotte Whiting (Cardy) of Florida; two brothers Carlin B. Jackson (Karen) of Oregon and Rodney Jackson of Mineral Wells; her step-mother Mary Louise Jackson; four grandchildren Christine Yates, Roger Morrison, Lisa Ritchie and Katie Weaver; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter Deborah Louise Lauer, one sister Sharon George and one brother- in- law Duward Barcley.

Funeral services will be held 1pm on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Pastor Tony Raffa officiating. Mary J. Weser

Mary Josephine Duffey Weser, age 88, of Parkersburg passed away March 16, 2010, at Worthington Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Parkersburg a daughter of the late Edward Anthony and Lulu Ann Wamsley Duffey.

She was retired from Consumer Credit Services; and, along with her husband Paul, owned and operated Weser Cab Company. Up until her illness, she was a very active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.

She is survived by four children: Lynne Berry of Marietta, Linda Sartor (Wayne), Sandy Bryan, and Michael Weser all of Parkersburg; four granddaughters and two grandsons; four great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons, several nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Paul Weser; one son, Danny Weser and two grandsons, Tony Bryan and Cris Sartor; two sisters and two brothers.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, March 22, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Peterson and Father Eric Hall as Celebrants. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV, where Wake services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Tommy Dale Montgomery

Tommy Dale Montgomery, 67 of Washington, W.Va., passed away March 16, 2010 at his residence.

He was born Feb. 15, 1943 in Wood County, W.Va. a son of the late Julian and Gladys Wigal Montgomery. Tommy retired as a certified electrician from the O'Ames Co. in Parkersburg after 32 years of service. He was a Master Mason and enjoyed hunting and his horses.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Richards Montgomery; three daughters, Deidra, Brandy, and Eryn Montgomery all of Washington, W.Va.; one son, Craig Montgomery of Temple, Texas; five sisters, Betty Westbrook of Little Hocking, Ohio, Peggy Trapasso of Columbus, Ohio, Lucille Bucklew of Granville, Ohio, Sheila Clemens of Malta, Ohio, and Connie Brant of Marietta, Ohio; one brother, Jerry Montgomery of Washington, W.Va., four grandchildren, Dakkotah Perkins, J.D. Montgomery, Connor William Montgomery, and Craig Bryan Montgomery, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Tommy was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Montgomery; an infant son, Lance Montgomery; and a brother, Kenneth Montgomery.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Belpre Church of Christ with Evangelist Ron Laughery and Chris Waldron officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg, W.Va. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Harold F. Hewitt

Harold F. Hewitt, age 85, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away March 15, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Wirt County, W.Va. a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Ida Howell Hewitt. Harold was retired from Kaiser Aluminum and was a member of Vienna Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Hewitt (Roger Price) of Pennsylvania; one son, Stephen Hewitt (Becky) of St. Albans, W.Va.; one sister, Helen Villers of Elizabeth, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Kelly Sandy (Jeremy) of Belleville, W.Va., Kyle Hewitt of Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Hewitt of St. Albans, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Grace, and Derek Sandy.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise June Williams Hewitt; one grandson, Logan Hewitt; seven sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Lendell W. "Lenny" Tracey

Lendell W. "Lenny" Tracey, 69, of Mineral Wells, passed away March 12, 2010, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Alvin Maurice and Nina Gertrude Ware Tracey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a certified electrician and plumber. He enjoyed fishing and flower gardening.

He is survived by his partner of 15 years, Judy Rector of Mineral Wells; his two daughters, Teresia Lynn Tracey of Glouster, Ohio, and Anita Leiann (Randy) Fryar of Pomeroy, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Sherri Dillenger of Mineral Wells; one sister, Nina Mae Duckworth of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Jean Tracey of Vienna; three grandchildren, Erik Tracey of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Tylor and Amber Fryar, both of Pomeroy; and three stepgrandchildren, Stephanie Dillenger of Mineral Wells, Lynda Fryar of Syracuse, Ohio, and Sasha Wriston of Newcomerstown, Ohio.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann Tracey; a daughter, Patricia Diane Tracey; one brother, Alvin Tracey; and one brother-in-law, James Duckworth.

There will be no services at this time. At Lenny's request his body was donated to the Human Gift Registry.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3901 Briscoe Run Rd., Parkersburg, WV 26101, in Lenny's memory.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joan Wheeler Morris

Joan Wheeler Morris, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away March 14, 2010, after a beautiful life.

She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg. She graduated from Nursing School at St. Joseph's Hospital in 1945 and worked as a registered nurse in West Virginia, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. She was the first plant nurse at DuPont Washington Works. She retired from nursing at the age of 69.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence (Larry) Morris. She was the proud mother of three sons, Ronald Morris and his wife, Nina of Auburn, California, Gregory Morris and his wife, Tina of Littleton, Colorado, and Randy Morris of Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was the grandmother of Stephen, David, John, Karen, and Sondra Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Ina Wheeler, and her six sisters and a brother.

A family remembrance and memorial will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg at a date to be announced.
