Mary Dean Rinehart

Mary Dean Rinehart, 98, of Worthington Manor Nursing Facility and formally of Meadville Road, Davisville, passed away March 3, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born February 13, 1912 in Coal Grove, Ohio a daughter of the late Jerome C. and Minnie Miller Dean. She was a school cook at Leachtown School, worked for the USDA and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Kanawha Baptist Church where she was a pianist, was a member of the Cedar Grove CEOs, and the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra. She was a charter member and first President of the Wood County Historical Society. Mary was very involved in the development of her community and enjoyed crafts and painting. She was a gifted musician, playing the piano and violin.

Mary is survived by a son, Thomas Rinehart and his wife, Eleanor of Leachtown, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Hank and his wife, Elaine of Leachtown, W.Va., Jim and his wife Sherri of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Eric and his wife, Sharolyn of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil B. Rinehart; a brother, Sheldon Dean; and three sisters, Roma Fultz, Emmily Blythe, and Wanita Rinehart.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Richard Runion and Pastor Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Douglas Michael Frazier

Douglas Michael "Wink" Frazier, 63, of Devola, Ohio passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Charles W. and Minnie Tuttle Frazier. He loved playing cards, was a sports enthusiast, and served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by two daughters, Jacinda Buckles of Vienna, W.Va., and Sara Hair of Suffolk, Va.; three sisters, Shirley Righter of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary Kaufman and Sandra Kennedy, both of Vienna, W.Va.; one brother, Tim Frazier of Devola, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jacqueline and William Buckles, Brandon and Elizabeth Hair and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Bowermaster Frazier; one brother, Charles L. Frazier; and one sister, Maxine Davis.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Robert May officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, where full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg. Friends may call 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Carolyn Sue Van Meter

Carolyn Sue Van Meter, 62, of Mineral Wells, WV, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

She was born April 21, 1947 in Belpre, Ohio, a daughter of the late Otho and Mary Stephens Van Meter.

Carolyn was a graduate of Belpre High School and retired from the Bureau of the Public Debt in Parkersburg after 34 years of service. Carolyn loved working in her flower garden and being with her animals. She was an avid NASCAR fan.

She is survived by her loving companion of 45 years, Richard Heath of Mineral Wells; her brother, Doug Van Meter of Belpre; one uncle, Guy Stephens of Belpre and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Carolyn will be held Friday March 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Belpre, Ohio with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rockland Cemetery in Belpre. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth "Betty" Minerva Lambert

Elizabeth 'Betty' Minerva Lambert, 87, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 28, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 27, 1922, in Parkersburg, W.Va., as the daughter of the late Raymond and Leona 'Tiny' Lightner Lambert.

She worked at the shipyards during WWII. She then went to work for Dils Bros in Parkersburg for many years as the office manager before she semi-retired. She then went to work for Hi-Vac until she fully retired. She was a dedicated member of Broadway Church of the Nazarene until she could no longer attend church regularly, then she attended Chesterville United Methodist Church until she was no longer able to get out of the house. She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandkids play.

She is survived by one aunt, Nellie Radcliff of Vienna, W.Va.; two sisters, Donna Spence of Ohio and Alice Keffer of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Ponnie J. Collins Piggott-Sampson (Frank E.) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and six grandchildren, Christy M. Piggott, Jarrett Sampson, Dakota Sampson, Colorado and Cyleigh Sampson, and Braydon Sampson; two step-grandchildren that meant so much to her, Dana Sampson and Amber Sampson; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved so much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leslie Raymond Lambert; and two brother-in-laws, Russell Spence and William Keffer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Paul Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials be made to a fund that has been set up under Christy Piggott, savings, at Wesbanco Bank, Gihon Village, south Parkersburg, the fund will be divided between the six grandchildren for their education. This would mean the world to her because of how special they were to her.

George L. Myers

George L. Myers, 80, of Belpre, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2010 at his residence.

He was born on June 2, 1929 in Vienna, WV a son of the late Latham R. and Mabel E. Beckett Myers.

George was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Borg-Warner/G.E. He and his wife attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Vincent, and formerly attended Briscoe Run Baptist Church in Vienna, WV.

George is survived by his wife Phyllis A. Sarver Myers; two sons, George Latham Myers II (Linda) of Seneca Rocks, WV, and Mark A. Myers (Gina) of Vincent, Ohio; one daughter, Pam K. Smith (John W.) of Vincent, Ohio; two grandchildren, Josh W. Smith of Vincent, Ohio and Stephanie A. Myers of Parkersburg, WV; three great-grandchildren, Bradley W. Smith and Kaylynn D. Smith of Vincent, Ohio, and Ischawn Myers of Parkersburg; one brother, L. Eugene Myers (Joan) of Parkersburg, and a brother-in-law, Charles A. Sarver of Greenwood, California., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard E. Myers and an infant sister, Betty.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd. in Belpre, Ohio with Pastor Garvan Walls of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, and Pastor Charles Kiser of Little Hocking, Ohio officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice and the wonderful caregivers.

Landon Michael Wolfe

Landon Michael Wolfe, infant son of Christopher M. Wolfe and Amanda McMullen Davis passed away on February 27, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Laney, Lacey, Casaundra and Kaydance; two brothers, Michael and Jared; grandparents, Diane and Ralph McMullen and Leesa and Glen Cain; great-grandparents, Mary and Donzel Brannon; great-grandmother, JoAnn Casto; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Landon was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, William Richards.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, south Parkersburg with Jim Lynch, Pastor Chris Pugh and Pastor Larry Dale officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gilbert W. Echard

Gilbert W. Echard, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away February 25, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 4, 1923, in Ritchie Co., W.Va., a son of the late Clarence W. and Laura L. Cooper Echard.

Gilbert retired after twenty-seven years of service from Dupont as a chemical operator. He was a US Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Lucas Echard; one daughter, Patricia Elmy of Waynesboro, PA; two sons, Steven Echard and wife Cheryl and Roger Echard and wife Judith, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicholas, Aaron, Andrew, and Timothy; and three great-grandchildren, Anika, Payton, and Kyia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Madolyn McVay Echard; two brothers, Kenneth and Ernest; and one sister, Peggy.

Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, is assisting the Echard family with arrangements.

Karen Sue Uhl

Karen Sue Uhl, 47, of Vienna, W.Va., passed into the loving arms of our Lord, on February 23, 2010, after a twenty-eight month positive and courageous battle with breast cancer. She kept up her fight until the final hours.

She was born December 7, 1962, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of Grace L. (Martin) Uhl and the late Richard E. Uhl, Sr.

She is survived by her cherished and loved son, Robert C. Uhl of Vienna, W.Va.; a brother, Richard E. Uhl, Jr. of Vienna, W.Va.; her best friend and her dog, Loopie Doo; aunts; uncles; and many cousins and friends.

She accepted Jesus into her life in 1978, and was a past member of Beechwood Heights Church of Christ. She enjoyed her flowers, butterflies, camping, photography, and nature in general. She was closest to God, when she was out in the country, climbing up a hill or wading through a stream. She always marveled at his great wonders.

A celebration of Karen's life will be conducted at 6PM Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. The family will receive friends for fellowship from 3PM until time of services on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the funeral home.

Arleen Ruth McClain

Arleen Ruth McClain, age 91, passed away Feb. 23, 2010 at her residence in Vienna, W.Va.

She was born in Erie, Pa., a daughter of the late Ralph and Ida Belle Sullivan Gibson.

She loved gardening, crocheting, her cats, traveling, and was a member of the National Letter Carriers Women's Auxiliary and St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Balog and Ruth LeGrand, both of Vienna, W.Va.; two sons, William McClain also of Vienna, W.Va., and Ralph McClain of Boston, Mass.; five grandchildren, Tracy Maxwell, Christy Deevers, Heather Aldridge, Lindsey Fetty and Brent Balog; five great-grandchildren, Dru, Tierney, Noelle, Cole, Cian; and her caregiver, Katie Richards.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin and one son, Karl McClain.

Private family services will be held with Pastor Danny McVey officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va.

William "Stanley" Corbin

William 'Stanley' Corbin, 55, of Waverly, W.Va. passed away Feb. 22, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Nov. 19, 1954 in Wood County, W.Va. a son of the late Theodore R. and Iwana Lue Merrell Corbin. William was retired from the Wood County Board of Education where he worked as a mason. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and stock car racing. He attended Bull Run United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, William Douglas Corbin; a step-daughter, Jennifer I. Sayres; one brother David Corbin and wife Crystal; and a sister, Linda I. Corbin all of Waverly, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Douglas, Trevor, Madison, William, Brianna, Cassie, Tamika, Shyann, and Desarae; a niece and nephew, Tomy Johnson and Jennifer Uppole and husband Charles; and one great nephew, Dylan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Douglas Corbin.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Brady Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at the Corbin Cemetery, Bull Run. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Emogene Haines

Emogene Haines, 80, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Ravenswood Care Center.

She was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Wirt County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Walter Jackson and Edith Mabel Davis Hall.

Emogene retired from the City of Parkersburg after several years of service. She was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir.

She was a longtime member of the T.O.P.S. Club and enjoyed flowers, her grandkids and traveling with her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bob.

She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Watkins (Mark) of Parkersburg; three sons, Paul Haines (Monica) of Waverly, Gregory Haines (Rhonda) of Palestine and Timothy Haines and companion, Sherry Kirk, of Parkersburg; one sister, Shirley Hammond (Bob) of Vienna; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert E. Haines Jr.; and two brothers, Ivan and Chester Hall.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at South Parkersburg Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Busch and Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Frank Leonard Strother

Frank Leonard Strother, 100 formerly of Vienna passed away Friday February 19 2010 at Autumn Care of Shallotte, NC. He was born in Harrison County, WV a son of the late Charles W. and Ada May Sandy Strother. He retired from Broughton's Dairy after 18 years of service; in his early years owned and operated a general store; and was a 50 plus year member of Wayside United Methodist Church. On December 12, 2009 he celebrated his 100th Birthday with his family and friends.

Frank is survived by two daughters Charlotte Atkinson (Rick) of South Charleston, WV and Janet Lynch (Dick) of Bolivia, NC; two sons Edward Leon Strother (Judy) of Marysville, OH and Michael Strother (Colleen) of Greer, SC; two sisters Arnetta Goodwin and Verona Enoch both of Vienna; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Clara Lee Gerrard Strother; six brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11am on Tuesday February 23, 2010 at the Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna with Rev. Sandy Runnion officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 on Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave Vienna and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayside United Methodist Church 3001 Grand Central Ave Vienna, WV 26105. An online guest register is available at www.lamberttatman.com.
