Larry W. Carpenter

Larry W. Carpenter age 65 went to be with our Lord on February 19, 2010. He passed away at home after an extended illness. He was born in Parkersburg a son of the late Joe and Gladys Huggins Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Mary L. Johnson Carpenter; one sister Linda Carpenter of Waverly; two children Sandra Bills of St. Marys and Stephen D. Hescht of Harrisville; two grandchildren Steven Bills of Parkersburg and Stacy Hescht of Harrisville; his sidekick Miss Daisy May.

Larry enjoyed gardening, mowing, weed eating and spending time with his friends at Wells Island Camp Ground. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was retired from the OAmes Plant #1 after 31 - years of service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday February 22, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 3005 Grand Central Ave Vienna with Pastor Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Bull Run Road. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-8 pm at the funeral home. Military honors conducted by American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg.

Robert Joseph Henderson

Robert Joseph Henderson, 83 and a half, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away May 26, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 15, 1926, in Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Alvin H. Henderson and Lorene Law Hunt.

Robert was a 1945 graduate of Parkersburg High School where he played tuba in the award winning Big Red Military band and also sang in the A cappella Choir. He later graduated from Mountain State College and began his work career as a licensed realtor. He was previously employed by Sears Roebuck and Coldwell Banker Realty, prior to opening his own realty company, Henderson Realty, in which he and his wife operated. They also owned and operated an antique store, Henderson Collectibles. He was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason Mt. Olivet Lodge #3. He worked many years with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Master Scoutmaster and served with the Kotoga Council. He was awarded the Order of Arrow Wood badge, Silver Beaver, and Cross and Flame. Robert especially enjoyed the beach, watching British comedies, Christmas breakfast with his family, and he loved his beloved coffee club. He really enjoyed McDonald's cheeseburgers with mustard and REAL onions and was an avid walker. He was also a Gideon.

Surviving is his loving wife, Marion Henderson of Parkersburg, W.Va.; his daughter, Ann and Ken Holbert of Vienna, WV, and their children, granddaughter, Christy Nestor of Orlando, FL, and great-grandson, Dalton Hodge of Vienna, WV; his son, Mike Henderson of Parkersburg, WV, grandson, Thomas Michael Henderson of Supply, NC, and great grandsons, Craven and Gabriel Henderson also of Supply, NC; youngest daughter, Lori Murnahan of Parkersburg, WV, and her children, granddaughter, Amanda and Wes Hutson of Parkersburg, WV, and great-grandchildren, Alena Klimas, Sullivan Hutson, Alydia Hutson, Samantha Hutson, and Wesley Hutson Jr., grandson, Patrick and Sarah Murnahan of Supply, NC, and great- grandchildren, Connor and Jacob Murnahan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Sunday May 30, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with Dr. Russell Hosey of the Cornerstone Gospel Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8PM on Saturday, May 29, 2010, with full Masonic Rites services conducted at 8PM by Scottish Rite Masons of Mt. Olivet Lodge #3. The family will also recieve friends one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank CCMH, Healthsouth, Dr. Steven Richards, Debbie and Jessica, and Dr. Yassar Barsoum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Office, 1218 Market St., Parkersburg, WV, 26101. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Violet Marilyn Henderson

Violet Marilyn Henderson, 73, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., formerly of Garfield Heights, Ohio, passed away May 26, 2010, at her residence.

She was born July 19, 1936, in Jackson County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ervin S. and Georgia Brotton Showalter.

Violet was a 1954 graduate of Southeast High School in Ravenna, Ohio. She retired with over 30 years of service as an Executive Secretary of the Ohio Department of Mental Health. She was on the Board of Directors for Dunkard Cemetery and enjoyed phone conversations with family and friends.

She is survived by one brother, Bennie Showalter of Mansfield, Ohio; one aunt, Virginia Johnson; nine nieces; six nephews; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews; and numerous cousins and other family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, William Ray Henderson which passed away in 2004; two sisters, Florelle Mendiola and Marjorie Bartholomew; and two brothers, Ervin 'Buster' Showalter and Kenneth Showalter.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 30 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Bill Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Wirt County, W.Va. Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Services for all their kindness and help and a special thank you to Colton Miller.

Mary L. Hart

Mary L. Hart, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away May 26, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born November 27, 1920, in Pleasants County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elsie and Elzie Adams.

Mary was a loving mother and grandmother, enjoyed watching humming birds and squirrels out her living room window, working jumble puzzles, watching soap operas on TV and traveling to the mountains. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her, especially her loving sister, Freda Riser.

Mary is survived by her three children, Jack S. Hart, Shirley M. Bailes, and Judy Burk; sons-in-law, Terry Bailes and Joseph Burk; daughters-in-law, Robin Hart and Wanda Hart; grandchildren, Suzanne Grant, Stephanie Whitehair, Joseph and Peggy Burk, Jr., Gregory and Misty Burk, Victoria Hart, Jack and Teresa Hart, Jr., Joyce Pritt and Brian Hart; great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Kalin, Stevie, Steven II, Larry, Conner, Kileen, Aaron, Ryan, Jedadia, Danelle, Mark and Jimmy; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Freda Riser and Sylvia Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey; her son, Richard Hart; her brother, Ernest Adams; and her sister, Ida Bailey.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with David Cumpson officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, at the funeral home.

Billy E. Deem

Billy Earlo Deem, 70, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on May 24, 2010 at St Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Dec. 28, 1939, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late James Edward and Mary Susan Linger Deem.

Billy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a custom house painter and at the time of his death was the Assistant Pastor of Peoples Community Church in Cutler, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Champ Deem; six daughters, Coralynn Gladis (Stephen) of Winchester, Va., Kim Shaffer of Ripley, W.Va., Sandy Shaffer of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Beverly McMillion of Marlington, W.Va., Maria Shaffer of Parkersburg, and Teresa Schreckengost of Mineral Wells; two sons, Timothy William Deem (Paula) of Clarksville, Tenn., and Dwayne Shaffer of Elizabeth, W.Va.; two brothers, Buddy Deem of Smithville, W.Va. and Barry Lee Deem of Wadesville, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Kevin Garrett Deem, Cody Showalter, Edward Shaffer, Zachery Shaffer, Tala Shaffer, Erin Kaneff, Justin Kaneff and Dakota Shaffer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Marie Meeks Deem; and two brothers, James Deem and Benny Deem.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Ray Seebaugh officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Interment will follow at Skidmore Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Weser V. Anderson

Weser Vernon Anderson, 91, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., departed this life peacefully on May 24, 2010 at Willows Nursing Home.

He was born April 8, 1919, in Elizabeth, W.Va., a son of the late Earl and Teresa Weser Anderson.

Weser was a World War II Army veteran and retired from OAmes after 42 years of service. He was also a past member of the American Legion and the WV Farm Bureau. He was an avid farmer who spent his days on his tractor riding around his farm on Sugar Camp Road. His dog Lassie was his constant companion.

He was married to the late Betty Hiley Anderson who passed away in 1996. Weser and Betty raised four children, Mary Davis of Pittsburgh, Pa., Shirley Bennett of Goshen, Ohio, Beth Ann Pifer and her husband, Lawrence of Mineral Wells, and Mark Anderson and his wife, Rhonda, of Ravenswood, W.Va.

Weser was also blessed with five grandchildren, Camala Davis of Pittsburgh, Heather Davis of Parkersburg, Christopher Bennett of Houston, Tex., Corey Bennett of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Eric Pifer of Mineral Wells. He also has two great granddaughters, Alisha Howard of Akron, Ohio and Emalee D'Andrea of Pittsburgh.

He is also survived by his brother Fredrick Anderson of Parkersburg.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Max Anderson and his sister, Eunice Anderson.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Rev. Phillip Dent officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Mineral Wells with full military rite by American Legion Post 15. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Family would like to thank everyone at Willows Nursing Home for all the wonderful care and special caregiver, Nola Hardbarger, who has been family for over two years.

Through this journey we have learned one more time, God is great, and life and friends are precious.

Etta O. Ingram

Etta O. Ingram, 84, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away May 22, 2010, at her residence.

She was born June 26, 1925, in Rockport, W.Va., a daughter of the late Homer and Missouri Thompson.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and walking.

She is survived by her three children, Ruth and husband, Tom Johnson, and Thomas and wife, Brenda Ingram all of Washington, W.Va., and Vicki and husband, Mark Nestor of Elizabeth, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Tom, Tim, Jeff and Jenny Ingram and MacKenzie Nestor; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Grover and Truman Thompson of Rockport, W.Va.; six sisters, Chloe Batten of Belpre, Ohio, Nellie Somerville and Dora Dawson, both of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Georgia Thompson, Helen Lockhart and Oncie Archer, all of Rockport, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Ingram on Sept. 21, 2009; and one brother, William Thompson Sr.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Everett Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A special thank you to Hospice/Housecalls, Senior Citizens, and Dr. Terry Capel and staff.

Richard C. Brabham

Richard C. Brabham, 81, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 13, 1929, in Wood Co., W.Va., a son of the late William C. and Pearl Combs Brabham.

Richard was employed with the former Universal Glass for seventeen years and later retired from G.E. following twenty-nine years of service. He was an avid reader of History and very much enjoyed building bird houses. He was also a member of the Parkersburg American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Anderson Brabham; one daughter, Marky Lemaster of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Terrance 'Terry' Brabham and wife Mary Ann of Ashby Ridge, W.Va.; one brother, Jim Brabham and wife Dottie of Florida; six grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-three years, Nadia Lerow Brabham; one daughter, Debbie Brabham; one son-in-law, Mark Lemaster; six sisters; and two brothers.

Private Committal services at Mt. Carmel Cemetery will be conducted at the convenience of the family.Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg.

Flora Ann Dyer Oldham

Flora Ann Dyer Oldham, 72, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on May 18, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness.

She was born February 5, 1938, in Gassaway, W.Va., a daughter of the late Stephen and Nellie Williams Dyer.

Flora received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Glenville State College. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Washington Jr. High School in Parkersburg. She was a devoted wife and mother and took 23 years away from her teaching career to raise her daughters. She then returned to teaching at Franklin Jr. High and Edison Jr. High Schools, where she taught Home Economics. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. She was a Methodist by faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Renee Casteel (Rick) of Clarksburg, W.Va., Leanne Hoselton (Allen) and Denise Deuley (Paul), both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Mary Stout (Don) of Charleston, W.Va. and Janie Dyer of Gassaway, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Rachelle Casteel and Ricky Casteel both of Clarksburg, W.Va.; and niece and nephew, David and Christie Stout of Charleston, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roderick 'Rod' K. Oldham whom passed away in 1993.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Reverend Olen Butcher-Winfree officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Carolyn S. Casto

Carolyn S. Casto, 61, of Ripley, W.Va., passed away on May 18, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 1, 1948, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the Magdalene Shamblin of Kenna, W.Va. and the late Romie Spencer.

Carolyn worked in the Dietary Department at Jackson General Hospital, loved cooking and helping others.

She is survived by her mother, Magdalene Shamblin; one daughter, Loretta Southall of Kenna; three sisters, Barbara Duff of Charleston, Rosalee White and Elana Comer, both of Kenna; two brothers, David Spencer of Kenna and Lonnie Spencer of Clendenin, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Jonathan Procter, Ashley Taylor, Courtney Vance, Brandy Southall and Dennie Southall; and three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Vance, Xavier Vance and Bruce Taylor.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Wolfe; and one brother, Doyle Spencer.

In accordance with Carolyn's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home will be assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

Lucy K. Parker

Lucy Katherine Parker, 94, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2010, at Pine View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Harrisville, WV.

She was born June 18, 1915, in Cairo, WV, to the late William Harry and Emma Thomas Fetty.

Lucy was a graduate of Cairo High School and enjoyed attending Cairo Alumnae Activities and revisiting the area where she grew up. She was a member of the Wood County Historical Society and the Parkersburg American Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker who found great joy in her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband James Parker in 1978, five sisters including Harriette Carr, and son-in-law Dan Stahler.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Edgerton and husband Michael of Miamisburg, OH; Sarah (Sally) Stahler of Anthony, FL; two sons, James Parker and wife Jan of Huntington, WV; and Steven Parker of Granville, WV. Lucy is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Wingate Inn, 1502 S. Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV, for a Memorial Service and refreshments; Arrangement were handled by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, W.Va.
