Seth E. Clevenger

Seth E. "Jeff" Clevenger, 82, of Waverly, W.Va. died at his residence Wednesday, May 5, 2010.

He was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Ivydale, W.Va., a son of the late Dorsie and Ezzie Rose Clevenger.

He retired from the CSX railroad in June of 1987, after 31 years of service. He was also a retired carpenter. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 1945 to Nov. 1946, participating in the occupation of China; and served in the U.S. Army from May 1947 through Oct. 1948, serving as a fireman.

Mr. Clevenger, along with five of his brothers, served overseas during World War II in various branches of the military. They were honored in a feature of the Parkersburg News on Nov 7, 1999. Seth was an expert marksman in the military and was an avid hunter during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Childers Clevenger whom he married Nov. 7, 1948. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his children, Pamela Lee (Larry) of Liberty Township, Ohio, Janet Niles (David) of Porter, Texas, Roger Clevenger of Macksburg, Ohio, Larry Clevenger (Jeannie) of Lower Salem, Ohio, and Kathy Ferguson (Jerry) of Clarksburg, W.Va.; one sister, Betty Galbreath of Waverly, W.Va.; one brother, Richard Clevenger of Salem, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four infant siblings.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Brady Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Donald "Don" A. Wilcoxen

Donald "Don" A. Wilcoxen, 93, of Rockland, OH, and a former resident of also Belpre, OH, in the years 1957 and 1958, passed away May 5, 2010, at the Arcadia Nursing Facility of Athens Co., OH.

He was born July 5, 1916, in Rockland, OH, a son of the late James Henry and Alice Coe Wilcoxen, and was proud to call the Belpre-Rockland area home.

Don was formerly employed as a foreman at the former Johns Manville Plant of Vienna, W.Va. He was also a member of the ministry, serving as the former Pastor of the Full Gospel Church of Little Hocking, OH. He enjoyed farming and very much enjoyed raising livestock upon his retirement.

Surviving are his two adoring daughters, Regina Buchanan and husband Alfred of Little Hocking, OH, and Donna Kesterson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Mabel Ilene Bradley Wilcoxen; one daughter, Rebecca Roach; two grandchildren; and eight siblings.

Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va., is prvileged to be entrusted with cremation arrangements.

Richard Carl Morrison

Richard Carl Morrison, 60, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010, after a short, unexpected, courageous battle with cancer at Charleston Area Medical Center.

He was born on December 27, 1949, in Warren, Ohio to the late Raymond Owen and Mildred Irene Morrison.

In addition to his devoted wife of forty years, Marie Morrison, he is survived by his three daughters; Cecilia Hardman and companion Karen Easton, Jeannie Schreckengost and husband Tony, and Beth Knight; five grandchildren, Jordan and Coby Hardman, Hailey and Andrew Schreckengost, and Mariah Knight, to whom he was her guiding light; and several nieces and nephews who were very special to him, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and his constant companion, his little dog, Sissy. He is also survived by his two sisters, June and Patricia Liston of Beverly, Ohio.

He is also survived by a host of very special friends, including, just to mention a few, 'Captain' Robin Crumbaker and all of the employees of Pleasant Air, Buddy Hardman, Michael Hapchuck, Roger Schultz, Robin Stafford, Wayne and Dottie Gaines, Vern Lambert, Richard Chipps, Darren Jones, The Tennant Family, The Best One Gang, Vienna Collision, and many, many more, too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ernestine Francis; and two brothers, Walton and Ernest Morrison.

He never met a stranger that he didn't like. He was always willing to do anything for anyone. He was full of life and laughter. Bluegrass music, his old beat-up truck, and jigsaw puzzles were his passion. But first and foremost was his family, who loved him very much and will miss him dearly.

Very special thanks to Richard's niece, Vickie Marshall, for assisting with funeral arrangements. Your thoughtfulness and caring are very much appreciated in this time of grief.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and two hours prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with final funeral expenses.

Ivan E. (Gene) Logsdon

Ivan E. (Gene) Logsdon, 78 years of age and a lifelong resident of Vienna, W.Va. went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 1, 2010, at his residence. He suffered from many and lengthy illnesses.

He was born in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond B. and Pauline Hall Logsdon.

He was retired from Owens Illinois (Brockway Glass); graduated from Parkersburg High School; honorably served his country in Korea during 1950-1951 with the 1092 Engineer Battalion; member of VFW of Vienna and when able attended the Faith Community Baptist Church in Vienna.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter, he loved the mountains of West Virginia and a little town named Parsons, W.Va. He enjoyed visiting the young men and women employed at the local McDonald's, in Parkersburg and Vienna, and was instrumental in encouraging these young adults to follow their dreams.

He was a devoted husband and father to his family, his wife of 32 years, Deborah J. Rogers Logsdon; six children, Debra Ann Owens of Parkersburg, W.Va., Brenda Sue Snider of Orlando, Fla., David S. George and Cindy M. Rea (Peach), both of Williamstown, W.Va., Amber D. Huber (Tony) and Travis E. Logsdon, all of Vienna, W.Va.; stepdaughter, Christy L. Conley of Walton, W.Va.; two brothers, William Logsdon and Richard Logsdon, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; ten grandchildren; and one step granddaughter. He will be missed very much by his family, many friends and his Black Lab, Popcorn.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jim Yoak and Pastor Bob May officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 15. His wishes for cremation will follow services. Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burt E. Lemley

Burt E. Lemley, 81, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully on May 1, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1929, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late George W. and Melinda B. Byrd Lemley.

Burt was formerly employed as a timber laborer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Alma Velma Nelson Lemley; three daughters, Linda Cottrill and husband Kenny of Reedy, W.Va., Becky Snider and husband Alan and Joyce Cottrel and husband Jerry, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Rodney E. Lemley and wife Susan of Walker, W.Va.; six sisters, Sylvia Bunner of Wooster, Ohio, Florence Nelson of Newark, W.Va., Elsie Lemley of Calhoun County, W.Va., Ethel White of Walker, W.Va., Laurie Gibson of Massillon, Ohio, and Clara Blankenship of Huttensville, W.Va.; one brother, Raymond Lemley of Walker, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren and also one to be due in September; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Wyatt Lemley; and one brother, Clyde Lemley.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Richard Mackenzie and Pastor Charlene Spaur officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Freeport Cemetery, Wirt County, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Following committal services on Thursday, family and friends are invited to join in a meal and fellowship at the Gospel Tabernacle House on Stevens Street off of Division St., south Parkersburg.

Donald Gene Jackson

Donald Gene Jackson, 64, of Parkersburg, W.Va., formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2010, at his residence.

He was born March 7, 1946, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Gay and Carrie Derenberger Jackson.

He was an over-the-road truck driver for several years and retired from Crane Plastics in Columbus as an extruder operator.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Farnsworth Jackson; one daughter, Tanya Jackson (Corey) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Donald L. Jackson (Darlene) of Grove City, Ohio; two grandchildren, Christian and Paige Jackson (a third grandchild is due in December); two sisters, Elizabeth Whited and Evelyn DeHaven, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

The family will receive friends from Monday, May 3, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. As requested by the family there will be no funeral service.

E. Paul Harris

E. Paul Harris, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on April 27, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born on January 23, 1941, in Roane County, W.Va., a son of Mary McGraw Treadway of Parkersburg and the late Raymond Harris.

Paul was a 1959 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired after 38 years of service with Kardex Systems in Reno, Ohio. He was past president of the United Steelworkers Local #3241 having received an Associates Degree in Union Trades through the Steelworkers, was a member of the Reno Bass Club, a lifetime member of Musicians Union and a member of the Morning Coffee Club. He enjoyed playing the guitar and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his mother, Mary McGraw Treadway; five siblings, Anthony 'Jack' Harris of Parkersburg, W.Va., Ginger Austin (Jeff) of Morgantown, W.Va., Nancy Wilcox (David) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Donna Byers (Russell) and Jim Treadway (Nellie), both of Davisville, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews; and two cats, P.T. and Bobby.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Harris; his step-father, Paul Treadway; and his dog, Wort.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in memory of Paul to the Parkersburg Humane Society, 29th and Poplar Sts., Parkersburg, WV 26101 or the Marietta Humane Society, 1210 County House Lane, Marietta, OH 45750.

John Edward Allman

John Edward Allman, 79, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away on April 28, 2010 after turkey hunting in Wood County, W.Va.

He was born November 22, 1930, in Slate, W.Va., a son of the late William Henry and Cora Belle James Allman.

John was a 1950 graduate from Parkersburg High School and was a US Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired self-employed Developer and Contractor, member of the National Turkey Federation, and a life-time member of the DAV. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. John loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Ruley Allman; one daughter, Julie L. Knight; three grandchildren, Jonathon C. Knight and Joni L. Knight, both of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Kristin Knight of Elizabeth, W.Va.; two sisters, Nona Huxley and Barbara Murnahan, both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and two brothers, William 'Don' (Margie) Allman of Davisville, W.Va. and Bernard R. (Jane) Allman of Raleigh, N.C.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert, Richard, and Ira Ray Allman; and three sisters, Thirza Garner, Esta Cusack and Isa Mae Miracle.

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Bob Alfred officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that donations be made to West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility, 1 Freedom Way, Clarksburg, WV 26301.

John J. Williams

John J. Williams, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Worthington Manor.

He was born in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late William F. and Cressie Kerns Williams.

He worked construction and was a land surveyor. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a forward artillery observer and fought in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the First Assembly of God. He loved the outdoors, gardening, walking, hunting and fishing and was an amateur musician who enjoyed playing the harmonica.

John is survived by his wife, Viola J. Evans Williams; one son, Steven W. (Diana) Williams of Vincent, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Linda G. Cale of Belpre, Ohio, Pamela L. Beasley of Florida, and Regina M. Cowan of Vienna, W.Va.; grandchildren, Adrienne Williams, Allison (Larry) Davis, and Samuel C. Walker; step grandchildren, Shelley and Kevin Hatfield; great-grandchildren, twins, Asher and Issac Davis; step great-grandchildren, Scott, Brayden, and Garrett Hatfield; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dessie R. Williams; five brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Tony Raffa and Pastor Robert Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 Parkersburg.
