Elsie Lois Alderman
Elsie Lois Alderman, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at her home while under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg, WV. She was born September 13, 1927 in Upshur Co., WV a daughter of the late Cooper and Elsie Hosaflook Hinkle. On June 1, 1947 she married Woodrow W. Alderman who preceded her in death February 7, 2005. Also preceding her in death were a daughter in law, Merry C. Alderman; one granddaughter, Kelly Alderman; one great granddaughter, Chloe N. Kane; six brothers, Lyle, Bryce, Keith, Junior, William Zane and Howard Hinkle and one sister, Ava Kittle. Surviving are two sons, Gary W. Alderman and wife Jan of Bristol, WV and Randall M. Alderman and wife Jerilyn of Buckhannon; one grandson, Douglas alderman and wife Shelby of Beckley, WV; two granddaughters, Amanda Alderman and fiance Michael of Woodbridge, VA and Melissa Kane and husband John Michael of Greenbank, WV; two great grandsons, J.D. Alderman of Beckley and John Michael Kane of Greenbank; two sisters, Louella VanGilder and Loeta Cutright both of Brook Park, OH; one special daughter in law, Linda Sue Williams of Buckhannon; three special sisters in law, Rose Alderman of Buckhannon, Bonnie Hinkle of Alexander, WV and Ethel Wilson of Painesville, OH; also several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Mrs. Alderman was a Methodist by faith. She retired from Reidbord Brothers and was a member of Royal Neighbors Womens Club, VFW Ladies Aux. and Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598 Ladies Aux. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday with the Revs. Doug Alderman and Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Clara D. Aylestock
Clara Doone Aylestock, age 78, of Berryville, VA died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Aylestock was born June 1, 1930 in Staunton, VA, a daughter of the late Hall Thompson, Sr. and Ora May McKay Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. On October 21, 1950 she married Harold Joe Aylestock who survives. Also, surviving are a daughter, Diana Aylestock of Front Royal, VA; two sons, Douglas Aylestock and wife Lois of Berryville, VA and Dan Aylestock of Springfield, VA; three sisters, Arlene Conaway of Martinsburg, WV, Shirley Wise of OH and Thelma Parker of Springfield; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hall Thompson, Jr. Friends will be received Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 1-2 PM the funeral hour at the Sago Baptist Church with the Rev. Wease Day and the Rev. Mike Aylestock officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James Edwin Aylestock
James Edwin Aylestock, age 88, of Clarksburg, WV, died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. He was born on April 10, 1919 a son of the late Parley S. and Nola Gould Aylestock. On November 30, 1946 he married Brenice Tyde Riggs who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons; Larry A. Aylestock and wife Janet F. of Buckhannon, WV, and Bernard L. Aylestock and wife Cathy B. of Buffalo Lake Road, WV; one daughter, Charlotte A. Simmons and husband Glenn of Lutherville, MD; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Aylestock, Woody Aylestock both of WV, and Harold Aylestock of VA; three sisters, Levaune Bourne, Natalie Lawson and Anna Mae young all of VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Dewain L. Aylestock; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Mr. Aylestock was a lineman for Monongahela Power Co. and retired after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church, Oak Mound, Clarksburg. He was a member of the Mens Fellowship, and was member of the CCC. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army during WWII in Ireland, England and France. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat near Brest, France. Friends will be received 5-9 PM Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday at the funeral home with the Reverend O. D. Harman and Pastor Bob Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the Heavner Cemetery. VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7, DAV Chapters # 5 and # 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Scottie Bernadine Wilmoth Ables
Scottie Bernadine Wilmoth Ables, age 62, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the St. Josephs Hospital. She was born November 24, 1946 in Gilmer Co., WV a daughter of Dallas James Burrows and Ella Mae Blosser Burrows Johnston. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, William O. Buck Wilmoth, two brothers, Howard and Junior Burrows, three sisters, Dorothy Hicks, Mary Ables and Ellen Burrows. She is survived by her second husband, John Fredrick Ables, Sr.; three sons, James Wilmoth and wife Michelle of Buckhannon, William Wilmoth and wife Samintha of Buckhannon and Jason Wilmoth of Buckhannon; two daughters, Lucy Small and husband James of Kesling Mill, WV and Rebecca Wiant and husband Charles of Buckhannon; twenty two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orval Eugene Burrows of Elkins, WV and Harold Burrows of Lewis County, WV; and one sister, Ila Mae Carper of Ashtabula, OH. Scottie was a homemaker and a Christian by faith. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Home Wednesday, July 22, 2009 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Jay Burkhart and Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hodgesville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Barbara S. Allender
Barbara S. Allender, age 50, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, November 16, 2009 at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born on June 9, 1959 a daughter of Carolyn McKinley of Bristol, TN. In addition to her mother she is survived by her stepfather Richard McKinley of Bristol; one sister, Melissa Hallmark and husband Derry of Canadian, OK; one uncle Jerry Allender of Buckhannon; one great uncle Donald Crites of Buckhannon; two nieces Wendy S. Wingfield of Buckhannon, and Riley Jean Williams of Canadian; three nephews, Brian Husk of Buckhannon, Bailey Williams and Junuh R. Hallmark, both of Canadian; one great niece, Kaelyn Husk of Buckhannon; one great nephew, Blade Michael Wingfield of Buckhannon and special friends Mona Mackey and Theresa Pickens, both of Buckhannon. Mrs. Allender was preceded in death by two sisters Donna K. Husk and Wynona F. Lloyd. Friends will be received 5-8 PM Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV. Mildred E. Brunette
Mildred E. Brunette, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Nellas Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, WV. She was born August 24, 1916 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Delbert and Dessie Gifford Warner. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Brunette who died on February 22, 2003. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Nila OLare and one son in law, Junior McCord. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley McCord of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Steven McCord and wife Camella of Vienna, WV and Brian McCord of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Katie OBrien and husband Josh of Vienna and one great-grandson, Payton McCord of Morgantown, WV. Mrs. Brunette was a bookkeeper for International Machinist Union. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Buckhannon Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wavleen Rollyson Alkire
Wavleen Rollyson Alkire, age 90, of French Creek, WV died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born November 10, 1919 in Clem, WV, a daughter of the late Emory and Ursula Boone Rollyson. On December 25, 1937 she married Thurman Alkire who preceded her in death on October 6, 1986. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Reuss of French Creek and Mary Anne Jacobus and husband Bob of French Creek; two sons, Richard Alkire and wife Josie of Dayton, OH and Larry Alkire and wife Linda of French Creek; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alkire was a homemaker and a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a Senior companion and a foster grandparent for Upshur County. Friends will be received Friday, December 4, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Chapel Church Cemetery. Helen Rosalie Wimer Alderman
Helen Rosalie Wimer Alderman, age 89 of Frenchton, WV died Saturday, December 19th at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 12, 1920 at Straight Fork, WV a the daughter of the late Lamon and Nellie Crawford Wimer. She was a stay at home mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to be in the kitchen, garden, and tend to her family. Helen was a member of the Rock Cave Baptist Church. She is survived by five sons; James Alderman and his dear friend, Wanda, Charlie Alderman and wife Joyce, Larry Alderman and wife Trecia, Roger Alderman and wife Penny, and Lenny Alderman; three daughters, Charolet Young and dear friend Jim, Joyce Thompson and husband Danny, and Karen Robinson and husband Sonny; two sons-in-law; John Young and Virgil Sutton; eighteen grandchildren, Jimmy and wife Dianne, Claudette and husband Jeff, Jamie, Jack Jr and wife Barb, Sid and wife Shelly, Brad and wife Joni, John Jr. and wife Beth, Ron and wife Dee, Kim, Lisa, Kyndal, Connie and husband George, Frank, Trish and husband Terry, Chris, Scott, Jaison and wife Sandy and Todd; thirty two great grandchildren, Lacey and husband Troy, David, Kendra, Shanna, Kristen, Sara, Katelin, Brittany, Ashley, Matthew, Stephanie, Kylie, Alexis, Justin, Jarett, Jacob, Julia, Josh, Rachel, Tyler, Nate, Owen, Payton, Autumn, George and wife Tayla, Heather, Brandon, Daniel, Travis, Patience, Raven and Collin; six great great grandchildren, Lucas, Tori, Blake, Serenity, Austin and Cameron; five sisters, Marie Brake, Luella Hurd, Ruth Mullahan, Iris Swecker, Jean Samples; a sister-in-law, Jo Wimer, several nieces and nephews and also by many self-adopted grandchildren. Helen was married on July 22nd, 1939 to Willard K. Alderman who preceded her in death on May 24th, 1987. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Young, Naomi Sutton; one son, Bobby Alderman; four daughters-in-law; Janet, Sis, Helen and Linda; one son-in-law, Jack Young; one grandson, Billy Riffle; two granddaughters, Melony Young and Onolean Alderman; a great grandson, Neamiah; two brothers, Willard Wimer and Robert Wimer; and one sister, Grace Crites. Friends will be received at the Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 22nd from 2 - 8 PM. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday at the Rock Cave Baptist Church where she will lie in state from 1-2 PM the funeral hour with Pastor David Jesse officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery at Rock Cave, WV. Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ida Edith Feola Amalfitano
Ida Edith Feola Amalfitano, age 96, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born December 14, 1913 at Montegalo, Italy a daughter of the late Samuel Feola, Sr. and Louise DeAngelis Feola. She married Vincent Amalfitano who preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter Ann Marino of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Mark Marino of Morgantown, WV and Vincent Marino of Buckhannon; two great granddaughters Sara and Rachael Marino both of Morgantown; one sister Catherine Hinkle of NC and one brother Gus Feola of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter Louise Margaret Amalfitano, one sister Mary Andregg, three brothers, Dominick, Sam and Frank Feola. Mrs. Amalfitano was a seamstress and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Ladies of the Moose # 598, Ladies Auxillary of Buckhannon VFW Post #3663 and the Strawberry Squares. She was a life long member of the International Garment Workers Union and worked her entire career in the garment district of New York City. Friends will be received Monday, March 1, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with a Prayer Service to begin at 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM, Tuesday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Nikodem, S.M. as the celebrant. Burial will follow at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling- St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James Lee Atwell
James Lee Atwell, age 75, of Rock Cave, WV died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born March 7, 1935 in Charmco, WV, a son of the late Charlie and Martha Waid Atwell. On August 20, 1964 he married Mary Rose Ruble who preceded him in death on October 11, 2004. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother David Atwell; one sister, Thelma Atwell and stepmother, Vera Rae Baxter Atwell. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Lee Wagner of Buckhannon, WV; one grandson, Justin James Wagner of Buckhannon; two brothers, Charlie Joe Atwell, Jr. and Roger Lynn Atwell and wife Janet all of Rock Cave; three sisters, Elizabeth Browning and husband Dana of Rock Cave, Roseann Linger and husband Steve and Connie Kincaid and husband Donnie all of Buckhannon; brother in law, Bill Ruble of Adrian, WV and several nieces and nephews. Jim loved spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and hiking. He also loved his dog Bubby, who kept him company. He was a mechanic by trade. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Friends will be received Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Cow Run Cemetery at Arlington, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Carl J. Bunce
Carl J. Bunce, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, January 08, 2007 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV, a son of the late Paul and Charity Hanifan Bunce. On October 1, 1971 he was preceded in death by his wife Madeline Pat Huffman. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceased in death by one sister, Mabel Norvell. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry C. (Bunce) Scamahorn of Colville, WA; two grandson, Josh Scamahorn of Colville, WA and Jason Scamahorn of Spokane, WA; one sister in law, Allien Berry of Buckhannon; cousins, Denver, Hilda, Karen, Linda and many others. Mr. Bunce was a coal miner. Many thanks to his wonderful Care-giver Louise Anderson and her family for the love they have shown my father over the last two years. Thanks to Kris Montgomery for the many hours of visitation and Sunday dinners and Carl Hinzman for all of the things he has done for my father as a neighbor and friend. Special thanks to Margaret Ann Simmons who sat with my Dad at the Hospital and thanks to everyone for their comforting words, Love and Prayers. Graveside services Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 1 PM at the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating.
