Frank Dale Berisford
Frank Dale Berisford, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. He was born September 22, 1915 in Glendale, WV a son of the late Thomas and Olive Matthews Berisford. On Sept. 27, 1942 he married Ella Hite who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2006. Frank was the youngest of eleven children and was the last member of his family. He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Godwin and husband Rod of Buckhannon; three sons, Frank Dale Berisford, II and wife Kathleen of Decatur, AL, Brent Ross Berisford and wife Jean of Brookville, MD and Donald Eugene Berisford & wife Tanya of Lady Lake, FL; twelve grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was a manager for state farm insurance and retired after 20 years of service, a professor of business at WVWC, a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of Civilian Conservation Corp., a graduate of Marshall University and Wharton School of Business, and a 50 year member of Buckhannon Lions Club. He also served in the US Signal Corp as a Cryptographer during WW II. Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fred Brooks Bird Club C/O Barbara Godwin, 51 King School Rd., Buckhannon, WV 26201 or the Buckhannon Senior Center. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gary Burroughs
On January 4, 2009, Gary Burroughs lost his battle to cancer. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was 62 years of age. He leaves behind his wife and soul mate of 43 years, Joetta Ellison Burroughs, two daughters, Kimberly Dianne Koert and husband Fred and Theresa Ann Poling and husband Jake; four grandchildren, Hayley Richelle Miller, Breanna Joetta Poling, Dillon Jacob Poling and Nathaniel Neal Poling all of Buckhannon; five sisters, Peggy and Richard Heck of OH; Carol and John Miller of OH; Janet and Mike Rogers of Summersville, WV; Judy Burroughs of NC and Valerie Randolph of Buckhannon; three brothers, Ronnie and Beverly Burroughs of Pittsburgh, PA; Chuck and Maggie Burroughs of OH and Jerry and Gita Burroughs of Germany, both of whom preceded Gary in death, as well as his mother and father, Nellie Ruth and Kenneth Kyle Burroughs. Garys career started in 1965 when he enlisted in the US Army to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. He spent eighteen months in Vietnam and eighteen months in Korea. He was discharged in 1972. He pursued his career in flying after the military. Gary started the HealthNet contracts in Morgantown and Charleston when he was employed by Rocky Mountain Helicopters, which is now Air Methods. He finally had to give up his dream in April, 2008. He was a member of the Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM. Gary has left behind many friends and lots of memories. Join us to celebrate his life. Friends will be received Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at the Horner United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Nettles and the Rev. Ron McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery at Horner, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters 5 & 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Tabner Dean Byrd
Tabner Dean Byrd, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, January 07, 2009 at his home. He was born on July 11, 1922 in Alton, WV a son of the late Calvin and Ethel Pringle Byrd. On November 23, 1991 he married Karen S. Black who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Currence and husband Kenneth and Jayne Carson and husband David both of Buckhannon; two step daughters Anita Walton and husband Clint of Buckhannon and Alisa Talbott and husband James of Cartersville, GA; one step son Jeffery Perry of Buckhannon; four grandsons, David Currence and wife Mindy of Buckhannon, Aaron Currence and Fianc Sherry Anderson of Buckhannon, Jeffery Carson of Charlotte, NC, Christopher Carson of Morgantown, WV; two step grandsons, Connor Walton and Devin Perry both of Buckhannon; three step granddaughters, Autumn Talbott of Cartersville, Courtney Walton of Buckhannon, and Megan Perry of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Kason Dean and Benjamin Flint Currence both of Buckhannon; one brother Thomas Argyl Byrd of CA and one sister Edith Moss of Akron OH. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Kathleen Reeder Byrd; four brothers, Elden Edward, Carl Martin, Chester A. and Calvin Odell Byrd and one sister, Thelma Lanham. Mr. Byrd was a Postmaster in Alexander, WV and Walkersville, WV, and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He was inducted into the Army Air Corps in 1942 and assigned to the 467th Bomber Group that was stationed in Rackheath, England, and was discharged in 1945. He was a member of the American Legion Post #148 of Selbyville, WV, Buckhannon VFW Post #3663. Dean was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His greatest joys were his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. He was a positive, compassionate, caring, gentle Christian man who loved life and people. Friends will be received 3-8 PM Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Davis a family friend. Burial will follow at the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion & DAV Chapters #5 and #36 will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Veterans organizations of your choice. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pearl (Douglas) Beall
Pearl (Douglas) Beall, age 92, of Bridgeport, WV died Friday, April 17, 2009 at her home. She was born June 30, 1916 in Canaan, WV, a daughter of the late S.V. and Zillah F. Bellingham Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband Wendell C. Beall who died in 1977; three brothers, Denzil, William Burke and Charles Noel Douglas and two sisters, Erma Virginia (Douglas) Bias and Catherine Marie (Douglas) Snyder. She is survived by one daughter, Dolores Ann (Beall) Shelton and husband Marvin P. of Bridgeport, WV; two grandsons, Marvin P. (Marty) Shelton of Clarksburg, WV and Benjamin L. Shelton and wife Carol of Charlotte, NC; one granddaughter, Holly S. (Shelton) Turner of Sebring, FL; one great-grandson, Lucas Z. Turner of Sebring; three great-granddaughters, Tanya N. (Turner) Koehler and husband Kenny of Sebring, Rachel Ann Shelton of Charlotte and Hannah Elizabeth Shelton of Charlotte; one great-great-grandson, Calvin Thomas Koehler of Sebring; one great-great-granddaughter, Leah Brook Koehler of Sebring; a special nephew, William P. (Billy) Bias, whom she raised from birth, of New Creek, WV; great nieces and nephews, Noel, Edward and Tina Bias and Tammy B. Kimble and husband Ryan and several other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Beall lived most of her life in Adrian, WV where she served as Postmaster. She later lived on Fayette Street in Buckhannon, WV for 22 years before moving to the home of her daughter in Bridgeport in 2001. In addition to being Postmaster, she also worked as a caregiver at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon and Weston State Hospital in Weston, WV where she retired in 1977. Friends will be received Monday, April 20, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lynn Cartwright officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to your favorite charity. David C. Beighley, Jr.
David C. Beighley, Jr., age 69, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. Mr. Beighley was born August 8, 1939 in Reading, MA a son of the late David C. Beighley, Sr. and Edna Mae Gorie Beighley. On December 21, 1963 he married Judith E. Gower who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Christopher D. Beighley and wife Kristin of Titusville, FL; two granddaughters, Brianna Taquinto of Titusville and Marissa Beighley of Titusville; a sister, Edna Mitchell and husband Charles of Derry, NH and a brother, Earl Beighley and wife Lois of Londonderry, NH. Mr. Beighley was retired from the United States Air Force and the US Postal Service. He was a member of the Mt Lebanon United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 4 to 8 PM at the Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 AM with the Rev. Lowell Swisher officiating. Military Services will be conducted at the graveside by Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters 5 and 36. Pauline S. Bogert
Pauline S. Bogert, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born July 17, 1915 in Arden, WV, a daughter of the late Andy and Lora Duckworth Shanabarger. On December 24, 1934 she married Raymond K. Bogert, Jr. who preceded her in death on December 15, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Sue Abbott and infant daughter, Carolyn Ann Bogert and one son, Raymond K. Bogert, III. She is survived by one son, Roland M. Bogert of Buckhannon; six granddaughters, Amy Shealy and husband Jim of Lexington, SC, Kim Trittenwein and husband Oliver of San Antonio, TX, Merribeth Butler and husband Trey of Charlotte, NC, Martha Ann Bogert of Brooklyn, NY, Stacy Lynn Bogert of Sarasota, FL, and Mary Ellen Calhoun of Orlando, FL; one grandson, Charles L. Bogert of Kansas City, KS and six great-grandchildren, Kaitin and Betsy Shealy, Bella and Grace Trittenwein, Clay Butler and Bryce Ann Bogert. Mrs. Bogert was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She attended Alderson Broaddus College and Fairmont State College and taught in Barbour County Schools for five years. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Shreve officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery at Philippi, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rosalie Bennett
Rosalie Bennett, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Holbrooks Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born February 28, 1937 in Buckhannon a daughter of the late Ralph R. and Della Tenney Wamsley. On December 31, 1986 she married Ronald L. Bennett who survives. Also surviving are one son, Mark Joseph of Akron, OH; two daughters, Michelle Shearer and husband David of Wheeling, WV and Lisa Parsons of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Joseph Umble of Buckhannon; three granddaughters Chelsey Umble and Winter and Azinia Parsons all of Buckhannon; one brother Ronsdale Wamsley of Buckhannon and two sisters, Varna Evans and Angeline Kittle both of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Earl W. Joseph; one daughter, Marsha L. Joseph; three brothers Winston, Leonard, and Lloyd Wamsley; three sisters Juandina Simmons, Lacy Mildred Wamsley and Margeory Stanton. Friends will be received Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Union Church Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles F. Bennett, II
Charles F. Bennett, II, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his home. He was born September 13, 1949 in Buckhannon the son of the late Charles F. and Dorothy Moore Bennett. On July 11, 1969 he married Margie S. Krebs who survives. Also surviving are one son, John D. Bennett of Newark, OH and one daughter, Tracy Bennett of Buckhannon. Mr. Bennett was a retired clerk in the WV National Guard. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees and the Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion. Friends will be received Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 4 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ellis Conley officiating. Burial will follow at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The U.S. Army will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Archie Gene 'Bud' Brown
Archie Gene 'Bud' Brown, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at his home. He was born December 28, 1928 in Braxton, WV, a son of the late McKinley J. and Jennie Crowe Brown. On April 14, 2004 he married Carolyn Black Smith who survives. Also surviving are one son, Charles Chuck Brown and wife Kristen of Frenchton, WV; two step daughters, Donna Thomason and husband Benjamin of Frenchton and Delorse Smith of Buckhannon, WV; three granddaughters, one grandson, one great-grandson, six step grandchildren, six step great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two brothers, June and Monta Brown both of Replete, WV and four sisters, Juanita Mollhan of Replete, Frances Lunsford and Rose Morrison both of Braxton County, WV and Neil Bickel of Webster Springs, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene Anderson Brown; one son, Randy Gene Brown; step son, Everett Paul Smith, II, two brothers, Hobe Brown and Infant Baby Brother and one sister, Elsie Sears. Mr. Brown was a school bus driver for the Upshur County Board of Education for 25 years. He was member of the Sago Baptist Church. Friends will be received Monday, December 14, 2009 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Church Cemetery at Hampton, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Sue Burkhammer
Edna Sue Burkhammer, age 53, of Weston, WV died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice. She was born January 28, 1957 in Weston. She is survived by her mother, Wanda Perrine of Buckhannon, WV; one daughter, Betty Sue Burrough of Weston; two sons, John and Glenn Junior Burkhammer both of Wooster, OH; one sister, Mildred Swiger and husband Dave of Buckhannon; two brothers, Charles Garrison and wife Lisa of Lewis County, WV and Randall Garrison and wife Robin of Buckhannon and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Goldsmith and one brother, Bernard Garrison. Mrs. Burkhammer was a homemaker. Friends will be received Friday, March 5, 2010 from 12 Noon until 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. William C. Eskew, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bricy Lelah Carr Vest Bonner
Bricy Lelah Carr Vest Bonner, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2010 at her home in Buckhannon, WV. She was born on February 26, 1919 in Elk, WV a daughter of the late Lester and Maggie Carr Loughly. She was preceded in death by her first husband William Willie Vest and her second husband Lorenzo D. Bonner. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. She is survived by two sons Ernest Vest and wife Charlotte of Buckhannon and Roger Vest of San Antonio, TX; one daughter Betty McKay of Westminster, MD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister Goldie Shaffer of Akron, OH and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bonner worked at as a CNA at White Gables later known as Nellies Nursing Home of Parsons for 20 years. She was a member of Hendricks Pentecostal Church of God. Friends will be received Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 12-1 PM at the Horizons Church in Buckhannon. Funeral Services will be held 1 PM at the Church. Burial will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Elkins, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
