Harry Junior Brown
Harry Junior Brown, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV passed away November 6, 2010, at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born August 18, 1925 at Orlando, WV a son of the late Harry J. and Myrtle Squires Brown. On June 30, 1947 he married Mildred I. Harper who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Harold Shepard and wife Patty of Beverly, WV and Jerry Fred Brown and wife Deloris of Sutton, WV; one daughter Loretta Jean Hoover and husband Bill of Weston, WV; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; four sisters, Annabelle Linger of Horner, WV, Lucille Harper of Bridgeport, WV, Lillian Stalnaker of Strongsville, OH and Myrtle Mae Morris of Buckhannon; one brother Homer Brown of Sugar Creek, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son Terry Lemar Brown; one granddaughter Dinah Hoover; five brothers, Hugh Vincent, Earl Wayne, Soloman, John Chester, and Curtis M. Brown and one sister, Maxine Brown. Mr. Brown was a graduate of the Burnsville class of 1944 while serving in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He retired from the C & P Telephone Co. as a central office technician on December 16, 1989 with 42 years of service. He was a life member of the Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, a member of Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion, and the Telephone Pioneers volunteering with disabled children. He also enjoyed hunting and working on his farm. Friends will be received Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at the K of P Cemetery in Burnsville, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion, DAV Chapters #5 & #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Margarette V. Bosley
Margarette V. Bosley, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV passed away Friday, November 12, 2010 under the care of Shirley Dean in Buckhannon. She was born March 4, 1925 in Barbour Co., WV a daughter of the late Hansel and Myrtle Queen Arnold. She was married to Howard Bill Bosley who preceded her in death June 22, 1974. She is survived by three daughters, Karen Singer and Joe Artino of Cleveland, OH; Winnie Harvey and husband Larry and Billie Dean and husband Dan all of Buckhannon; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister Vera Shore of CA; and one brother Neal Arnold and wife Sylvia of AZ. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister Betty VanVeghel; three brothers Junior Bud, William Wimp and Glenn Dope Arnold. Mrs. Bosley was a sales clerk for Ames Department Store. Friends will be received Monday, November 15, 2010 from 1-2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Philippi, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Etta Kathleen Katie Bailey
Etta Kathleen Katie Bailey, 83, of Niles, OH passed away Monday evening, Dec. 13, 2010 at her home after a long battle with cancer. Born February 16, 1927 in Cubana, WV, Katie was the daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel (Simmons) Poling. Katie was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Harry Bailey of Niles whom she married June 16, 1946, two children, Philip H. Bailey and Deborah K. Flenner both of Niles, four grandchildren; Michele Agosta, Kyle Bailey and Michael and Derek Krummel, four great grandchildren; Kayla, Liam, Hunter and Sophia, four brothers; Lawrence Poling of Warren, OH, Robert Poling of Buckhannon, WV, Arden Poling of Akron, OH and Archie Poling of Buckhannon and three sisters; Wilda Slaughter of Buckhannon, Lucille Gillespie of Niles and Freeda Murphy of Morgantown, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Karen Ann Bailey and three brothers; Wilmer, Howard and Elmer Poling. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at the Lane Funeral Homes, Niles Chapel from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at 2 PM the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon, WV where family and friends may visit for two hours prior to the funeral service with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Burial will take place in the Bailey Cemetery, Buckhannon, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eleanor F. Black
Eleanor F. Black, age 86 of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Paulas Home Care in Buckhannon. She was born May 15, 1924 in Cambridge, MA, a daughter of the late Francis and Anna C. Kelly Kling. On January 11, 1947 she married Robert H. Black who preceded her in death on April 20, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Anthony Kling. She is survived by two sons, Robert Francis Black and wife Carolyn Ruth of Woburn, MA and Frederick G. Black and wife Pamela of Waterville, ME; one daughter, Suellen A. Lyons of Woburn; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Black was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Heavner Cemetery with Father Ron Nikodem, S.M. as celebrant. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Loretta Bodkins
Loretta, Bodkins, age 61, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born November 9, 1949 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late David Austin and Loretta Westfall. She is survived by two daughters, Crystal Wingfield and husband Ethan of Buckhannon and Jamie Bodkins of Buckhannon; one brother, Eugene Westfall and wife Kathy of Grafton, WV; one step brother, Russell Duncan ; a niece, Kay Westfall of Milton, WV; two nephews, Jim Bob Harris of Charleston, WV and David Westfall and fiance Tina of Grafton, WV and two great-nephews. Mrs. Bodkins, was a homemaker and a member of the Church Of God of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Monday, January 10, 2011 from 1-2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Audrey Belle Barnett
Audrey Belle Barnett, age 100, of French Creek, WV, died Thursday, January 20, 2011. She was born August 23, 1910 in Webster County, WV, a daughter of the late, Albert J. and Isa Belle Miller Cogar. On April 1, 1937 she married Noah Ellis Barnett who preceded her in death on March 28, 1967. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Roger and Paul Barnett; seven brothers, Russell, Sola, Monty, Hersel, Charles, Sylvester and Arlin Cogar; one sister, Agnes Pearl Alkire; infant sister, Vernie Mae Cogar and granddaughter, Missy Barnett. She is survived by three sons, John Barnett of French Creek, Delphin Barnett and wife Sandy of Weston, WV and Dwight Barnett and wife Rita of Buckhannon; three daughters, Gloria Lee Townsend of Sand Fork, WV, Annabelle Barnett of Lodi, OH and Charrolet Joe Moran and husband Henry of French Creek; grandsons, Rodney, Hank, Johnny, Bobby, Teddy, Chuck, Norman, Nelson and Wayne; granddaughters, Lori, Debbie, Connie, Jackie, Dawn, Tina, Tonya and Louella; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnett was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She attended the Upshur County Senior Center. She loved to quilt and made beautiful quilts when her eye sight allowed, but her passion was fishing and her stories of her fishing days. At 100 she was still able to go fishing with her grandson Norman Workman and his family and now he can carry on the fishing stories and wonderful memories. Friends will be received Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV. Merle Baxa Brake
Merle Baxa Brake, age 98, of Baldwin, GA died Friday, January 28, 2011. She was born September 26, 1912 in Upshur Co. WV a daughter of the late James Edward and Icie Charlotte Smith Baxa. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Doncel Brake; one brother; four sisters and one niece Leonora Talboth Stracles. She is survived by niece Dorthy Lee Dutchess and husband Dan of Winchester, VA; nephew James Boone and wife Frances of Ocala, FL; two nieces and two nephews on her husband side and many great nieces and great nephews. Mrs. Baxa was a member of the Rock Cave United Methodist Church attended WV Business College, worked several years as a secretary and was a homemaker. Friends will be received Friday, February 11, 2011 from 1-2 PM the funeral hour at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with the Rev. Kara Phillippi officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Cave Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Elinor Annette Brooks
Elinor Annette Brooks, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Holbrooks Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born August 24, 1942 in Wilcox County, GA, a daughter of the late Roy C. and Nadine Hannah Blackstock. On August 28, 1973 she married Tommy Lee Brooks who survives. Also surviving are one son, Keith Leavengood of Barrackville, WV; one daughter, Tammie Nelson and husband Johnathan of Lebanon, PA; one grandson, Justin Cannon of TX; one granddaughter, Addison Izzo of Lebanon and one sister. Essie Steele of Summerfield, FL. Mrs. Brooks was a Registered Nurse. She loved animals and crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Blackstock. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Brenda Jo Bennett
Brenda Jo Bennett, age 50, of Buckhannon, WV went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 22, 1960 in Buckhannon, WV a daughter of Denzil S. Chub and Barbara Jack Alkire of Buckhannon. On June 30, 1984 she married Jeffrey A. Bennett who survives. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by one son, Tyler Bennett of Buckhannon; one daughter, Whitney Bennett and fianc Derek Marsh of Buckhannon; one sister, Susanne Gompers and husband Robert of Buckhannon; two half sisters, Shirley Hyre of Gassaway, WV and Rhonda Tuner of Weston, WV; special half sister, Marilyn Moore and husband Chuck of Rosedale, WV; half brother, Dennis Alkire of Pataskala, OH and three special nieces, Haley, Lauren and Sarah Gompers all of Buckhannon. Brenda was a Registered Nurse for Tucker County VA Clinic. She was a member of the Good Hope Tabernacle Church in Buckhannon and was a Christian by faith. She was a graduate from BUHS Class of 1978 and Salem College Class of 1982. The family would like to extend special thanks to Peoples Hospice and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Friends will be received Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 4-9 PM at the Good Hope Tabernacle Church. Funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Herbert Herman Betz
Herbert Herman Betz, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born January 7, 1936 in Hartford, CT a son of the late Herman and Wilhelmina Emma Derbogen Betz. On July 16, 1988 he married Marlene Jolliff who survives. Also surviving is one son, Karl Herman Betz and wife Cyndi of St. Marys, GA; three daughters, Theresa Lee Sales and husband Billy of Elizabeth City, NC; Denise Kathleen Pearl and husband Dennis of Chesapeake, VA and Dolores Anne Siedel of New Brunswick, Canada; one step daughter, Monica Ashcraft of Shinnston, WV; one step son, Michael Burrough of Buckhannon; nine grandchildren; four step grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Werner Walter Betz. Mr. Betz was an upholsterer and a Methodist by faith. He served in the US Navy as an Ocean Systems Technician and after 22 years he retired as a Senior Chief. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Grafton National Cemetery. Felix Bryan Bailey
Felix Bryan Bailey, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Clearfield Hospital in, Clearfield, PA. He was born December 25, 1926 in Morgantown, WV, a son of the late Deward and Edith Paugh Bailey. On March 26, 1988 he married Virginia Rank who survives. Also, surviving are two daughters, Patricia Amburgey of Port Orange, FL and Janice Simpkins and husband Dave of Munroe Falls, OH; one son, Gary Bailey and wife Gwendolyn of Curwensville, PA; one step-son, Mike Maddox of Sterling, AK; one step-daughter, Beverly Cummings and husband Chris of Everett, WA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Bailey and wife Barbara of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Alice Petry and husband Larry of Lakemore, OH; one brother in law, William Rank and wife Mary of Flagstaff, AZ and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Violet Bailey. Mr. Bailey served in the Civilian Public Service (CPS) through the Church of the Brethren and retired from the US Postal Service in 1984. He attended the Way Of Holiness Church in Buckhannon. Friends will be received on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 7:30 PM until 9 PM at the Way Of Holiness Church. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, at the Way Of Holiness Church with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens, WV. Mary Lou Curtis
Mary Lou Curtis, age 53, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at her home. She was born July 30, 1953 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Elma Mae Canter Bowman. On August 15, 1971 she married Hayward Gene Curtis who survives. Also surviving are one son, Charles Curtis of Buckhannon; one daughter, Connie Curtis of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Icy Marie Curtis of Buckhannon; one grandson, Arey Louis Harman of French Creek, WV; two brothers, Michael David Bowman and Randy Joe Bowman both of Tallmansville, WV and four sisters, Bertha Ann Nuzum and Carol Marie Bowman both of Tallmansville, Roberta Lynn Green of Buckhannon and Patty Jo Booth of Virginia. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, David and Charles Bowman. Mrs. Curtis was a homemaker. Friends will be received Tuesday, October 10, 2006 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Tallmansville. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Carolyn Sue Caputo
Carolyn Sue Caputo, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, November 17, 2006 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. She was born April 5, 1946 in Buckhannon, a daughter of Glenna L. Wilfong Tenney of Buckhannon. On March 22, 1975 she married Dusty Edward Caputo who survives. In addition to her mother she is survived by her step father, Rev. Luther Bennie Tenney of Buckhannon; three sons, Larry James Caputo of Jacksonville, FL, Carl Lee Caputo and wife Lisa of Ukiah, CA and Bill Cody Caputo and wife Pat of Michigan; two daughters, Carol Elizabeth Britt and husband Lawrence of Washington and Kil Choe Caputo of Dallas, TX; four brothers, Merrill McCray of Jacksonville, Walter McCray of Cleveland, OH, Danny McCray of Canton, OH and Franklin McCray; three sisters, Rosemary Thompson of Yakima, WA, Betty Tsuldin of Patterson, NJ and Helen Toth of Cleveland, OH and ten grandchildren. Mrs. Caputo was a housewife. She attended Faith Tabernacle and was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church. She served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. She graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School, Class of 1965. Friends will be received Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmy Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Grafton National Cemetery at Grafton, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.
