Ida Elizabeth Curry, age 96, Clarksburg, WV died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Heartland of Clarksburg. She was born October 28, 1910 in Ingo, WV, a daughter of the late Gabriel A. and Lovie J. Steerman Corley. On December 22, 1934 she married Oran Buck Curry who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph and James Curry; four sisters, Verna and Dela Corley, Nela Brown and Pauline Richmond and three brothers, Page, George and Boyd Corley. She is survived by one son, Roy Erving Curry and wife Suni of Anmoore, WV; a foster son, Billy Casto and wife Lois of Blacksburg, VA; four grandchildren, Vanessa Curry of New Mexico, Scott Curry of Virginia, Jenny Casto and Daniel Casto both of Blacksburg;one step grandson, James Simons of Buckhannon, one step granddaughter, Jody Marzka of Deinboro, PA; daughter in law, Dell Curry of Columbia Station, OH; two sisters, Irene Fragmin of Anmoore and Phyllis Neugebauer of Ellamore, WV; a special niece Erin Stevens; two special nephews Jeff Stevens and Tom Brown and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Curry was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Friday, November 17, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Haymond Cemetery at Kanawha Head, WV. Allen David Casto
Allen David Casto, age 69, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at his home under the care of St. Josephs Hospice. He was born March 8, 1940 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Dewey Casto. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Laura Marie Casto and one son, Perry Martin Marty Casto. He is survived by two sons, Allen E. Casto and Douglas Craig Casto and wife Marsha all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Karen Sue Casto and fianc Paul Harris of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Edward Dewey Casto and wife Jamie and Allen David Rowan and wife Jennifer all of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Gabriel Allen David Rowan of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Laura Marie Rowan of Buckhannon and a step great-granddaughter, Georganna Harris of Buckhannon. Mr. Casto was a sawmill worker for Hinkle and Sons Saw Mill and a Christian by faith. Friends will be received Monday, April 27, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Elbon Cemetery at Sago, WV. Cathy Lynn Chapman
Cathy Lynn Chapman, age 51, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born December 19, 1957 in Elkins, WV, a daughter of Carl William Chapman of Webster Springs, WV and the late Eleanor Marie Lee Chapman. In addition to her father, she is survived by two sons, Richard Lee Rhett Young, III and William Colin Brant Young, both of Buckhannon; one sister, Cara Lee Phillips and husband BJ of Webster Springs; one brother, Chris William Chapman of BeeBee, AR; one aunt, Judith Downs of Elkins; maternal grandmother, Edna Lee of Elkins and two nieces, Kacie Lee Phillips of Columbus, OH and Paige Phillips of Webster Springs. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by one daughter, Leslie Diane Young and maternal grandfather, Sterling Lee. She was a sales representative for Sudden Link and a Christian. Friends will be received Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home from Noon until 2 PM, the funeral hour with the Rev. Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Elkins. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Cathys name. Dale Gay Canter
Dale Gay Canter, age 61, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Hospice Care In-Patient Center in Elkins, WV. He was born February 14, 1948 in Wyatt, WV, a son of the late Dennie Madison and Elizabeth Riffle Canter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, William, Jack, Edward, Gale, Fredrick, John and Robert Canter and four sisters, Elma, Ellen, Gladys and Eli Canter. He is survived by two sons, Noah James Canter and Daniel Lee Canter both of Buckhannon; one daughter, Stephanie Ann Canter of Weston, WV; two grandsons, Samuel Canter and Daniel Canter both of Buckhannon; four sisters, Shelva Jean Claypool, Josephene Jote Fitzgerald, Betty Lois Bowman and Trecia Jane Lowther all of Buckhannon and one brother, Roger Doc Canter of Buckhannon. Mr. Canter worked as a General Labor for North Carolina Heat Treating Plant. He was a member Order of the Eagles and the Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598. He also enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2009 from 12 Noon until 2 PM the funeral hour with Evangelist David Martin. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery at Hodgesville, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Dales funeral to Alan Suder Rt. 4 Box 507, Buckhannon, WV. Helen Lorane Corica
Helen Lorane Corica, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, July 6, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 10, 1928 in Upshur Co. a daughter of the late Dock Bostick and Geneva Cutright Bostick Landis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her ex-husband Tony Corica, daughter, Sharon Louise, son Monty Carson, five brothers, Raymond, Max and Charles Bostick, Steve and Gary Landis. Helen is survived by three daughters, Diana Deuley and husband Russel, Darlene Corica and husband Glenn Brookover and Judy Helton and husband Russell; one son, Gregory Corica; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Landis and Ronnie Landis; and two sisters, Weva Lea Lantz and June Herron. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Vegan, WV with Rev. Wease Day officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the WVU Childrens Hospital, 1 Waterfront Place 6th floor, P. O. Box 1650, Morgantown, WV 26507. Winford Loyd Wimp Champ, Sr.
Winford Loyd Wimp Champ, Sr., age 76 of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born October 18, 1932 in Upshur Co. a son of the late Dorsey French and Ocie Pearl Dean Champ. On September 1, 1951 he married Rose Marie Westfall who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Osie Geneva Blake and husband Alan Dale and Anita Rose Campbell and husband Dorsey all of Buckhannon and Eleanor Virginia Corathers and husband Charles of Strasburg, VA; one son, James Heyward Champ and wife Doll of Buckhannon; twenty-one grandchildren and forty-four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Elizabeth Jenny Landis of Century, WV and Madeline Lonnie Mat Robinson of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Marie Linger; one son, Winford Loyd Bub Champ, Jr.; grandson, Billy Corathers; three brothers, Ovid Dick, Booth, Jesse French Davy and William James Bill Champ; two sisters, Delores Jean Weedie Griffeth and Anita Jewel Carroll; son-in-law William Eugene Gene Poling, and daughter-in-law Diann Lemon Champ. Mr. Champ was a timber cutter and coal miner and a Methodist by faith. The most important thing in his life was his family. Friends will be received Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sandra Lee Louise Chandler
Sandra Lee Louise Chandler, age 64, of Bridgeport, WV died Monday, September 21, 2009 at her home. She was born April 18, 1945 in Quincy, MA, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Eleanor Morris Wood. On August 23, 1986 she married Danny ONeal Chandler who survives. Also surviving are two sons, George McDonald of Colonial Beach, VA and Max McDonald and wife Lisa of Clarksburg, WV; four daughters, Susan Plummer and husband Dale of Etters, PA, Melinda Sanders and husband John of Kissimmee, FL, Haley Burton and husband Pat of Jupiter, FL and Rebecca Nutt and husband Chris of Clarksburg; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence (Butch) Wood of Mineral, VA, Michael Wood of Scarboro, ME and Kenneth Wood of E. Montpelier, VT and two sisters, Kathleen Moralas of Port St. Lucie, FL and Margaret Wood of Concord, NH. Sandra was a Day Care Provider and a Christian by faith. Memorial Services will be held 2 PM Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. R. Richard Dick Chandler
R. Richard Dick Chandler, age 62, of Meadows of Dan, Va. died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. He was born February 21, 1947 in Buckhannon, WV, the son of the late Ralph S. and Cozbi A. Sayre Chandler. He is survived by his former wife, Janet L. Phillips Chandler; two sons, Eric Chandler and wife Ursula of Winchester, VA and Greg Chandler and wife Kate of Houston, TX; one daughter, Amy Sharpe and husband Patrick of Falling Waters, WV; five grandchildren, Jackson, Lucy and Gus Sharpe, and Owen and Izak Chandler. He is also survived by two brothers, Donald Chandler of Inwood WV and Danny Chandler of Bridgeport, WV; three sisters, Helen Alexander of St. Simons Island, GA, Judy Hall and Kathy St.Clair both of Buckhannon. He was employed at Chateau Morrisette of Meadows of Dan, Virginia and formerly owned and operated the Shop and Go Marts in Buckhannon. Mr. Chandler was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited and the West Virginia Wildlife Federation and he wrote a syndicated column entitled West Virginia Fish and Game. Anna Lee Combs
Anna Lee Combs, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, January 29, 2010 at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg, WV. She was born June 14, 1921 in Rock Cave, WV, a daughter of the late Ira H. and Vera Phillips Mearns. On June 6, 1942 she married Robert H. Waggy who preceded her in death in 1945 and on January 6, 1947 she married Robert C. Combs who preceded her in death in 1979. In addition to her parents and 1st and 2nd husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Linn M., Hugh and Ralph W. Mearns; three sisters, Beatrice Sleeth, Mary Evelyn Mearns and Marjorie Smith; one nephew, Steve Smith and a infant great-grandson, Jarrod Ables. She is survived by two sons, David L. Waggy and wife Sue Ann of Buckhannon and Robert H. Waggy, II and wife Karen of Frenchton, WV; one daughter, Suzanne Kay Suzi Talbott of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Melanie Lynn Talbott who resided with Mrs. Combs, Betsy Gayle Talbott of Buckhannon and Rebecca S. Browning and husband I.B. of Morgantown, WV; two grandsons, Robert H. Waggy, III and wife Kim of Buckhannon and Michael L. Waggy of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Megan Brooke Talbott of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Luke Henry Waggy of Buckhannon and Jackson Robert Waggy of Buckhannon; three nieces, Julia Mays and husband Bob of Fredericksburg, TX, Ellyn Sleeth of Chandler, TX and Stephanie Leatherman and husband Delbert of Clarksburg and two nephews, Daniel and Susan Smith of Millgeville, GA and Ralph and Becky Mearns of Nutter Fort, WV. Mrs. Combs worked for Perce Ross in Ladies Wear and Mary Jane Shop as a seamstress. She was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Friends will be received Monday, February 1, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Earl Kermit Buck Casto
Earl Kermit Buck Casto, age 70, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, February 15, 2010 at his home. He was born March 21, 1939 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late Danna Edward Hamner, Sr. and Lona Mae Bennett Casto Hamner. On March 18, 1995 he married Betty Jeffries who survives. Also surviving is one son, Les R. Casto and wife Sandra of Fairview, WV; one daughter, Ruth Williams and husband Roger of Buckhannon; one step daughter, Traci Moul of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; one step son, Shaun Jeffries of Buckhannon; one grandson, Darrel Morris of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Jessica Morris of Buckhannon and Mary Hamner Casto of Fairview; six step granddaughters, Ashley Dunlavy, Devonna and Alicia Moul all of Little Egg Harbor, Christine Sleeth of Morgantown and Cassandra and Theresa Sleeth both of Fairview; one step grandson, Danny Dunlavy of Buckhannon; two step great-grandsons, Matthew Cristner of Fairview and Tristen OConnor of Little Egg Harbor; one step great granddaughter, Kaylee OConnor of Little Egg Harbor; one brother, Dana Frog Hamner, Jr. of Tallmansville, WV; three sisters, Lora Mae Lou Underwood Oklahoma City, OK, Pearl Mortenson of Bethney Beach, DE and Jane Jenks White of Inglewood, OH; ex wife, Edith Marie Casto of Buckhannon and sister in law, Shirley Hamner of Buckhannon. In addition his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Denley Casto; one grandson, Todd Morris; one brother, Ralph Bennett Casto and one sister, Lillian Humphrey. Mr. Casto was a coal miner. He was a member of the Sago Baptist Church and attended the Tallmansville Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the UMWA Local # 1938. Friends will be received Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Mary Ellen Carr, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at her home. She was born July 27, 1923 in Hall, WV, a daughter of the late William Henry David and Annie Alta Malta Suder Regester. On October 29, 1941 she married Alfred Carr who preceded her in death on December 3, 1988. She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Fern McCormick and husband Edward of Roanoke, VA; five sons, Roy Carr and wife Sharon of Kesling Mill, WV, Robert Lewis Carr and wife Linda Ann of Harrisonburg, VA, Delmas Gene Carr and wife Naomi of Vienna, WV and Keith Carr and wife Judy and Walter Glenn Carr all of Buckhannon; six grandsons, Kevin Carr and wife Lori of Charlotte, NC, William Bill Carr and wife Areta of Albright, WV, Brian Carr of Buckhannon, Joshua Carr of Little Rock, AR and Phillip Carr and wife Eva and Cody Carr all of Buckhannon; five granddaughters, Melissa Carr of Ozark, MO, Sheri Crisp and husband Cameron of Buckhannon, Rebecca Sams and husband Jason of Parkersburg, WV, Sarah Carr of Sterling, VA and Cathy Gilkeson and husband Brian of Washington, NC; great-granddaughters, Paige, Mackenzie, Ashley and Aleah; great-grandsons, Murphy, Luke, Riley, Elijah, Landon, Justin and Brandon; two brothers, Garnett Regester and wife Adeline of Belington, WV and Garry Regester and wife Sylvia of Buckhannon and one sister, Tina Lanham of Williamsport, MD. Hubert D. Butch Carpenter
Hubert D. Butch Carpenter, age 63, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, April 2, 2010 at his home. He was born May 1, 1946 at Excelsior, WV, a son of the late Earl and Lora Ruth Clark Carpenter. On January 23, 1971 he married Martha Sue Butcher who preceded him in death on July 4, 1992. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Roy and Vernon Earl Carpenter and three sisters, Norma Jean Osburn, Patty Joan Miller and Hazel Marie Carpenter. He is survived by one son, Duane D. Carpenter and wife Tahsha (Nichols) of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Bailey Carpenter of Buckhannon; two brothers, Rev. Clifford Carpenter of Warren, OH and Rev. Billy Carpenter of Glendale, WV; three sisters, Loretta Miller, Janet Carpenter and Bonnie Caynor all of Buckhannon; sister in law, Lee Ellen Carpenter of Mt. Holly, NC and brother in law, Neal Miller of Hampton, WV. Butch was a Heavy Equipment Operator for United Coal. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Warren District Volunteer Fire Department and the Hodgesville Lions Club. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 2-4 & 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
