Agnes D. Channel
Agnes D. Channel, age 74, of Ellamore, WV died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was born December 7, 1935 in Hall, WV, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Letha Harris Shreve. On January 18, 1958 she married Orval S. Channel who survives. Also surviving is one son, John Edward Channel and wife Colleen of Grove City, OH; one daughter, Pam Channel of Hilliard, OH; one grandson, Chad Channel of Grove City; one granddaughter, Chelsea Channel of Grove City and one sister, Mary Pratt of Wolf Summit, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Fallen. Mrs. Channel was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 Ladies Aux. A former member of the Strawberry Pairs. She was a huge WV Fan and meeting DaSean Butler after her heart attack was a special moment in her life. Also she was a special grandmother to her grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday, April 16, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmy Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Veterans Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Stanley Clair Currence
Stanley Clair Currence, age 86, of Lorentz, WV died Friday, May 28, 2010 at his home. He was born September 6, 1923 in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Wilson Bandsaw and Minnie Wagoner Currence. On December 29, 1952 he married Anna Mae Tenney who preceded him in death on February 1, 2007. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Dexell Currence; one grandson, Samuel Cutright; two granddaughters, Sabrina and Sarah Wilfong; one great-grandson, David Austin Currence and two brothers, Donald and Marion Currence. He is survived by two sons, David Currence and wife Brenda of Volga, WV and Rickey Currence and wife Diane of Hodgesville, WV; one step daughter, Linda Hinzman and husband Arnold of Buckhannon, WV; four daughters, Lana Cutright and husband Boyd of Hacker Valley, WV, Lois Tenney and husband Ivan of Buckhannon, Stella Wright and husband Mark of Buckhannon and Zella Cogar of Hacker Valley; three brothers, Daultin Currence and wife Kate of Cassity, WV, Stanford Currence of Webster Springs, WV and Douglas Currence and wife Donna of Buckhannon; one sister, Kay Hinkle and husband Grey of Dry Fork, WV; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Lucy Davis of Alexander, WV. Mr. Currence was a Woodsman. He was a member of the Light Chapel Church of Buckhannon and retired from the Labor Union as a construction worker. Friends will be received Sunday, May 30, 2010 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 Pm Monday at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church where he will lie in state from 1-2 PM with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock. Wanda Lyvooh Curtis
Wanda Lyvooh Curtis, age 73, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg, WV. She was born August 16, 1936 in Webster Co., a daughter of the late Henry Perrine and Mildred Zoe Knicely Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Burl A. Curtis; two daughters, Mary Goldsmith, and Edna Sue Burkhammer; one son Bernard Garrison Ocheltree; one grandson, Michael Gibson; first husband Clyde Garrison and 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Mildred Swiger and husband Dave of Buckhannon; two sons, Randel Garrison and wife Robin of Buckhannon and Charles Garrison and wife Lisa of Weston, WV; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Perrine and wife Ida of Buckhannon; two step sisters, Christine Lipps and Judy Riffle both of Buckhannon and two step brothers, Melvin Smith and Frank Smith both of Buckhannon. Mrs. Curtis was a homemaker. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 12 Noon until 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home with Doy Ocheltree officiating. Burial will follow at the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Juanita Ruth Cobb
Juanita Ruth Cobb, age 76, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, June 7, 2010 at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born February 21, 1934 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Hubert and Ruby Opal Thaxton Walker. On September 22, 1956 she married Harold Cobb who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah McGlumphy-Anderson and husband Edwin of Fairmont, WV and Bobbie Cobb of Buckhannon; one grandson, Nick McGlumphy of Fairmont; one granddaughter, Resa McGlumphy of Fairmont; one step grandson, Eddie Anderson of Morgantown, WV; one step granddaughter, Heather Anderson of Morgantown and two brothers, Clayton Walker of OH and Stephen Allen Walker of Crosslanes, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Hershel Lee, Ronald Gene and Daniel Wayne Walker and one sister, Loretta Mae Walker. Mrs. Cobb was a homemaker and a member of the Way Of Holiness Church. She was an avid bowler, a member of the Alley Cats Bowling League and also a member of the Sheriffs Assoc. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-9 PM at the Way Of Holiness Church. She will Lie in State at the church on Thursday from 1-2 PM the funeral hour with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dale Allen Counterman
Dale Allen Counterman, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at St. Josephs Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born July 3, 1949 in Elkhart, IN. He is survived by his wife, Elayne Louise Hunt Counterman. Mr. Counterman was a Paper Carrier. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Olen Lawson Carpenter
Olen Lawson Carpenter, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the home of his daughter in Excelsior, WV. He was born March 2, 1930 in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Kessler and Annie Leigh Carpenter. On February 24, 1951 he married Alice Jean Claypool who survives. Also surviving is one son, Manus W. Carpenter and wife Roxanna of Tallmansville, WV; one daughter, Jewell Cutright and husband John R. of Excelsior; three granddaughters, Heather Goodwin of Weston, WV, Jennifer Bickel of Salem Ridge, WV and Jessica Carpenter of Hall Road, WV; three grandsons, Dustin Davis and Craig Zirkle both of Buckhannon and Brian Carpenter of Tallmansville; one step grandson, Gerald Zirkle of Abbott, WV; three great-grandson, Alex Goodwin of Weston and Thoryn and Titan Davis both of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Sessions of Weston; five brothers, Dorsey and Larry Carpenter both of Tallmansville Road, Edward Carpenter of Buckhannon, Trever Carpenter of Queens, WV and Benford Carpenter of OH and four sisters, Grace Dennison of Hemlock, Sharon Carpenter and Delane Riffle both of Buckhannon and Elizabeth Mucciaroni of FL. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Denley Carpenter and two sisters, Regina and Terry Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church and Upshur County Association of Retired School Employees. He served with the US Army during the Korean War. He was a school bus driver, head mechanic, transportation supervisor and retired from the Upshur County Board of Education as Warehouse Supervisor with a total of 36 years of service. Friends will be received Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Sand Run Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Sunday at the church with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Emma Lee Cadman
Emma Lee Cadman, age 73, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born May 31, 1937 in Buckhannon a daughter of the late Nicholas Rongyos and Maxine Ellison Rongyos. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister Thelma Harvey. She is survived by four daughters Melissa Cadman of Buckhannon, Barbara Phillips and husband Michael of South Amherst, OH, Donna Williams and husband Harrison of Buckhannon and Sue Hennell and husband Dave of VA; one son Nicholas McDowell of Olongapo Bay, Philippines; nine grandchildren; four adopted grandchildren Casey, Brittany, Jessie and Britt; six great-grandchildren; one brother William Beckner and wife Martha of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cadman was a homemaker and a member of the Heaston United Methodist Church in Hodgesville, WV. At the request of Mrs. Cadman her body will be cremated and services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John Edward Davidson
John Edward Davidson, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV died, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his home. He was born June 18, 1937 in Weston, WV, a son of the late Willis Clayton and Cinderella Edna Teter Davidson. On July 5, 1957, he married Betty Jo Hinkle who preceded him in death on September 9, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother Willis Clayton Davidson, Jr. Surviving are one son, John Richard Davidson and wife Billie of Buckhannon; four daughters, Joni Roby and husband Joe Snider and Jenna Liggett all of Buckhannon and Jan Tisdale and husband Nathan and Ciara Davidson all of OH; four granddaughters, Jenny Tenney and husband Patrick, Katy Perrine and Jesseka Liggett all of Buckhannon and Kristy Aldridge of Weston; two grandsons, Jeremy Davidson and Caleb Liggett both of Buckhannon; great grandchildren, Rachel, Myranda, Victor, Lance and MyKaylynn; one brother, Kenneth Davidson and wife Charlotte of Buckhannon; two sisters, Mary Ellen Davidson and Hallie Hurst and husband Jim all of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Davidson served in the U.S. Army as Military Police. He worked for the Upshur County Board of Education as a Bus Driver and was a member of the Aletha Chapter #82 Order of the Eastern Star and Rock Cave Lodge #81 AF & AM . Friends will be received Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 5-9 PM with an Eastern Star Service at 7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Mr. Davidson will lie in state Thursday from 10 to 11 AM at the Sago Baptist Church in Sago, WV. A funeral service will be held 11 AM at the church with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Community Cemetery in Arlington, WV. The Rock Cave Masonic Lodge #82 will conduct Masonic Rites at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bonnie D. (Thorn) Calvert
Bonnie D. (Thorn) Calvert, age 76, of Warren, died Monday morning, May 17, 2010, at Forum Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was born May 28, 1933 in Queens, West Virginia the daughter of the late Ray and Euphemia (McCullough) Thorn. Bonnie was a 1951 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and moved to Warren in 1952, coming from West Virginia. She had worked for Trumbull Lamp Corp. and retired from Sears Roebuck and Company, having worked in the restaurant and as a sales clerk. She was an avid reader. Bonnie is survived by one son, Randy W. Seiple of Girard; one daughter, Jackie A. (Robert) Seiple Bell of Southside, Ala.; four granddaughters, Stacey Rowland of McKinney, Texas; Allison Hartman of Ft. Collins, Colo; Christina Bell of Dallas and Sarah Clark of Monticello, Iowa; three great grandchildren, Ian Rowland and Elizabeth and Thomas Hartman and one sister, Betty Harvey and a sister-in-law, Maxine Thorn both of Queens, WVa. Her husband, Eugene Calvert, preceded her in death in 2001. Two brothers, Raymond and Douglas Thorn also preceded her in death. Arrangements are being handled by Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the 1 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, September 25, 2010 with Pastor Eugene Thorn officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Union Church Cemetery in Union, followed by military honors for her husband, Eugene Calvert who died in 2001.

Eugene G. Calvert
Eugene G. Calvert, age 80, of Warren, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 25, 2001, at Brecksville Veterans Hospital in Brecksville, Ohio. He was born January 25, 1921 in Hopewell, Va. the son of the late Ray McKinley and Nettie Carpenter Calvert. He lived in Buckhannon for many years. Eugene was a graduate of Buckhannon High School and was a World War II Army veteran and POW, receiving the purple heart and bronze star. He worked as a welder for 23 years through the boilermakers union in West Virginia. Eugene served as a fireman in Morgantown for 15 years. He attended the Assembly of God Church in WVa. Survivors included his wife, Bonnie Thorn Seiple Calvert, whom he married January 10, 1991, who died May 17, 2010; one son, Eugene Lee Calvert of Morgantown; one stepson, Randy W. Seiple of Girard; one stepdaughter, Jackie A. (Robert) Bell of Southside, Ala.; one grandchild; 4 stepgrandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. One brother, Ray Calvert and one sister, Mary Jane Dean have preceded him in death. Arrangements are being handled by Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Union at 2:45 PM Saturday, September 25, 2010, with Pastor Eddie McDaniels officiating. Military honors will follow.

Eva Louise Channell
Eva Louise Channell, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Mansfield Place in Philippi, WV. She was born June 28, 1927 in Philippi, a daughter of the late Asa Parker and Ida Jane Smith Ware. On April 22, 1944 she married Junior Cat Channell who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Franklin Channell and wife Linda of Morgantown, WV, Ronald Channell and wife Terri of Clarksburg, WV and Donald Bill Channell and wife Martha of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Beth Wickline and husband Robert of Lindside, WV, Lori Channell of Seattle, WA and Michele Bailey and husband Kevin of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Michael Channell and wife Amanda of Buckhannon, Shawn Channell of Boston, MA and Brian Christopher Channell and wife Angie of Morgantown; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Rose Channell and husband Nelson of Grosse Pointe, MI and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edgar Ware and five sisters, Texie Swecker, Arizona Arbogast, Laverne Ware, Virgie Gibson and Ethel Channell. Mrs. Channell was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, doing word puzzles, crochet and an active member in the Heaston United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Ellen Finegan, the Rev. Robert King and the Rev. George Bramble officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Shelby Gene Crowl
Shelby Gene Crowl, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born on June 16, 1938 a son of the late Arthur M. and Charlotte A. Gibson Crowl. He is survived by two sons Terry Gene Crowl and wife Melissa of Weston, WV and Timothy Allen Crowl of Mt. Nebo, WV; two granddaughters Lona Crowl, of Mt. Nebo and Terrissa Crowl of Weston; two grandsons, Kurry Crowl of Mt. Nebo and Treyson Crowl of Weston; former wife Lucille Crowl Wilfong of Mt. Nebo; one brother, Carl Crowl and wife Janice of Conway, SC; one sister, Lois Ielene Serine and husband Gary L. Mallonee of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Lewis Crowl; and one sister Helen Suder. Mr. Crowl was an equipment operator for S.W. Jack Drilling and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 598 and served in the US Army. Friends will be received Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Amy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Philippi, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
