Herschel Carpenter
Herschel Carpenter age 93 of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV. He was born September 21, 1918 in Sutton, WV a son of the late Jack and Letha Carpenter. He married Ellen Crites who preceded him in death in April 1973. He is survived by three sons, Lear Carpenter and wife Lisa of Washington, PA, Kelvin Carpenter and wife Brenda of Fairmont, WV and Randy Carpenter of Trinitad, CO; three daughters, Charlotte McCartney and husband Kermit, Wanetta Hardman and Janet Hall and husband Joe all of Buckhannon; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter Judith Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a retired coal miner and a Christian by faith. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the WV Veteran Nursing Facility, Att: Business office- Resident Fund, One Freedoms Way, Clarksburg, WV 26301. A graveside service will be held 11 AM on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon with Pastor Michael Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlette Post #7 American Legion and DAV Chapters #5 and #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wilma Evelyn Clark
Wilma Evelyn Clark, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at her home. She was born on September 10, 1931 in Beckley, WV, a daughter of the late Freida McGraw. She is survived by three sons; John Michael Clark and wife Mary Jo of York, PA, Elmer John Clark, Jr. and wife Brenda of Chase, MD, and William John Clark, Sr. and wife Denise of Buckhannon; two daughters, Kathleen Mae Balsamo and husband Frank of Aberdeen, MD and Sally Archibald; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Ms. Clark was a patient transporter in the health care industry. She was a Baptist by faith. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Poling-St. Clair Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Pearl M. Delauder
Pearl M. Delauder, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV, the Hodgesville Community, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at her home. She was born March 8, 1924 in Flemington, WV, a daughter of the late Dorsey and Maggie Weekly Marple. On June 4, 1949 she married William G. Delauder who preceded her in death by October 8, 1993. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. She is survived by one son, William H. Delauder and wife Mary of Buckhannon; two daughters, Maggie Margaret Stobert and husband Richard of Amesville, OH and Emma Lee McKibbon of Cleveland, OH; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Delauder was a homemaker. Graveside services will be held 10 AM on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Grafton National Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

French Alvin Daft
French Alvin Daft, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, July 2, 2007 at Heath South in Morgantown, WV. He was born October 12, 1919 in Pickens, WV, a son of the late Parley and Bessie Cutright Daft. On November 22, 1943 he married Ruby Lee Slaughter who survives. Also surviving are one son, Terry Daft and wife Elsie of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Chadwick Daft of Ohio, Bradly Daft of Buckhannon, Garrick Daft of Columbus, OH and Brandon Daft of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Celine Daft and Emmie Cutright both of Buckhannon; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Oliver Daft of Baltimore, MD and one sister, Lena Bell Gillian of Virginia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Daft; two grandsons, Darr and Ronald Daft; six brothers, Troy, Everett, Earn, Calvin, Ellis and Ord Daft and two sisters, Mary Wolford and Ella May Pumphrey. Mr. Daft was a Coal Miner and United Brethern by Faith. Friends will be received Thursday, July 5, 2007 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond Deward Daniels
Raymond Deward Daniels, age 89, of Wellington, died Sunday August 26, 2007 at the Northridge Health Center in N. Ridgeville following a long illness. He was born April 5, 1918 in Junior, WV. He had lived most of his life in LaGrange until moving to Wellington in 1990. Mr. Daniels was a US Army WW II Veteran. He was employed as a painter for Ford Motor Co. Lorain Assembly Plant, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, and tinkering with old tv's and radios. Surviving are three daughters, Darla Myers of Wellington, Vicki ( David ) Hammond of Lorain, and Jodell Higdon of Richmond, KY; two sons, Alan (Marsha) Daniels of Elyria and Timothy (Kimberly ) Daniels of LaGrange; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Leslie Daniels of Clinton, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-two years, Joy (nee Cutright) in 1985; parents, Wesley C. and Winnie D. Daniels (nee Simons); stepson, David Kenney; granddaughter, Ashley Hammond, three brothers, Clyde, Ronald, and Bradley, and sister, Carmen Daniels. A special thanks to the Hospice of Ohio, Cleveland office, for their help and support during Raymond's last days. Friends will be received Wednesday from 6-9 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Further visitations will be held on Friday from 12 Noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, 95 S. Kanawha, Buckhannon, WV. Charles Leo Davis, Sr.
Charles Leo Davis, Sr. age 65 of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. He was born on November 1, 1941 in Randolph County a son of the late Ralph and Ida (McCauley) Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by his former wife, Donna Coberly Landis of Buckhannon; one daughter, Angel Howell and husband Donald of Buckhannon; one step son, Robert Landis and wife Margaret of Buckhannon; two sons, Charles Davis, Jr. and wife Barbara of French Creek; and Marvin Davis and wife Sarah of Weston, WV; one step daughter, Elizabeth Tincher of Flemington, WV; 20 grandchildren; one brother Ralph Davis and wife Lucy of Alexander, WV and two sisters, Linda Carpenter and husband Lonzo of Belington, WV and Elnora Davis of Ellamore, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Angline Davis and one stepson Robin Charles Landis. Charles was a Carpenter for the Family Health Services and was a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received from 4-9 PM on Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Poling- St. Clair Funeral Home. Erma I. Dean
Erma I. Dean, age 61, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, November 08, 2007 at her home. She was born October 18, 1946 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Oscar and Juanita Wilfong Cutright. On September 10, 1964 she married James W. Dean who survives. Also, surviving is one son, James. W. Dean, II and wife Felicia of Buckhannon and two sisters, Shelia Davis and husband Jeff of Buckhannon and Karen Talbott and husband Jim of Fitchville, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Cutright and a stepfather, Hugh McFadden. Mrs. Dean was a homemaker. Friends will be received Friday, November 9, 2007 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael George officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruby Lee Daft
Ruby Lee Daft, age 85 of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at her home. She was born on March 29, 1922 on Long Run in WV a daughter of the late Wilbert Terry and Stacy Lee Rowan Slaughter. On November 22, 1943 she married French Alvin Daft who preceded her in death on July 2, 2007. She is survived by one son Terry Daft and wife Elsie of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Chadwick Daft of Salem, OH, Bradley Daft of Buckhannon, Garrick Daft of Dublin, OH and Brandon Daft of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Celine Daft of Buckhannon and Emmie Cutright of Shinnston, WV; three brothers, Fay Edward Slaughter of Buckhannon, Gerl Slaughter of Shinnston and Jay Morris Slaughter of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son Gary Daft; two grandsons, Darr and Ronald Daft; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Daft; one brother, Buddy Slaughter; and two sisters, Geneva Slaughter and Naomi Collins. Mrs. Daft was a homemaker. Friends will be received 4-8 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Calvin McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Union Church Cemetery, MT. Union, WV. Dorothy E. Vange DeRico
Dorothy E. Vange DeRico, age 82, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Holbrooks Nursing Home. She was born May 29, 1925 in Queens, WV, a daughter of the late James Weaver and Mollie Lea Gooden Leigh. On November 28, 1942 she married William A. Bill DeRico who preceded her in death on February 15, 1995. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph William Joe DeRico; two sisters, Geraldine Gifford Lewis and Maisie Rogers; one brother, Richard Leigh and one grandson, Jason Leigh Morrison. She is survived by four sons, James DeRico and wife Gertrud of Clarksville, TN, Leonard DeRico and wife Bonnie of Buckhannon, Vince DeRico of Nokois, FL and Bob DeRico of Buckhannon; a special son, Michael Schneider of Nokomis; four daughters, Bonnie Sampson and husband Bill of Stow, OH, JoAnne Morrison of Buckhannon, Judy Carr and husband Keith of Buckhannon and Kathy Dean and husband Charlie of Buckhannon; two sisters, Virginia Stalnaker of Bradenton, FL and Evelyn Collins of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Stephen Leigh of Warren, OH; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, April 4, 2008 from 4-9 PM, with a prayer service at 8 PM. Funeral Prayer Services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home, with Father Ronald Nikodem as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Vera M. Dean
Vera M. Dean, age 91, of 10 Nona St., Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. She was born March 10, 1917 in Nicholas County, WV a daughter of the late Floyd and Ada Jack Hinkle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James Weaver, 2nd husband, Donal W. Wooddell and her 3rd husband, Woodrow Dean and one daughter, Annabelle Lee. She is survived by three daughters, Rosalyn Lynn of Buckhannon, Sherry French of Canton, OH and Betty Southworth of Lucasville, OH; one son, David Michael Wooddell of Boliver, OH; eleven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several great-great-granchildren; one brother, Paul Hinkle of Warren, OH; and one sister, Opal Wooddell of Rochester, PA. Mrs. Dean was a homemaker and Apostolic by faith. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Monday, April 7, 2008 from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Edith Elaine Dean
Edith Elaine Dean, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born on July 22, 1923 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of the late Jason L. and Tresa E. Dean Wentz. On April 12, 1940 she married Jesse J. Dean who preceded her in death on March 24, 1996. Mrs. Dean is survived by seven daughters, Lucille Wilfong, Twila Moreland, Carol J. Sothen and husband Carl, Glenda J. Wright and husband Kenneth, Darlene Dean, Luella J. Saffle and husband Terry, and Kenna M. Everson and husband Joe all of Buckhannon; two sons, Jesse Dean and wife Becky, and Lawrence Dean and wife Sherry all of Buckhannon; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one sister Emogene Ritter of Harmony, PA; two brothers, Glen Wentz and wife Mary Rose of Freedom, PA, and Roger Wentz and wife Georgann of FL; two sisters-in-law, Roberta Wentz of Ambridge, PA and Judy Timney of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Shirley Cleavenger of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by one daughter Nila Dean; one sister Pauline Elbon and husband Jack and two brothers, Richard and Victor Wentz. Mrs. Dean was a cook for the Upshur Co. Board of Education. She enjoyed bowling both as a bowler and a spectator. She enjoyed watching Wings of Faith on Sunday mornings. Friends will be received Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles W. Bill Douglass
Charles W. Bill Douglass, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Heartland of Clarksburg, WV. He was born Oct. 7, 1925 in Weston, WV a son of the late Guy and Mary Elizabeth Cunningham Douglass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Koon and one brother, Guy J. Douglass. He is survived by his partner, Norma S. Darnall and her two sons, Dale G. Darnall of Buckhannon and Russell W. Darnall of Simpsonville, SC; also surviving are four nephews, Paul Douglas Koon of Huntsville, AL, Craig Koon of Bishop, CA, Daniel Douglass of Bradenton, FL and Timothy Douglass of Maryland. Bill served two tours of service with the US Army. He worked for the WV Dept. Of Highways and retired from the WV State Hospital. He was a member of the Elks Club. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Heavner Cemetery with the Rev. Billie Scott Mick officiating. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Warren Lee DeMoss
Warren Lee DeMoss, age 62, of Southington, Ohio, passed away 2 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the University of Cleveland Hospital. Warren was born August 19, 1946 in Buckhannon, WV. He was the son of the late Wesley H. and Dora M. DeMoss. Also preceding him in death, an older brother, Robert Wayne DeMoss. He is survived by his daughter, Holly Houskin and husband Mike; three grandchildren, Alex, Ashley and Josie all of Franklin, Tennessee; three sisters, Evalee Houdyshell of Buckhannon, Jerry Criner and husband Roger of North Carolina, Donnis Gooden and husband Marvin of Georgia; seven brothers, Jim Sipes of French Creek, Caroll DeMoss and wife Brenda of French Creek, Mike DeMoss and wife Caroline, David DeMoss and wife Cindy, William DeMoss and wife Karen and Randy DeMoss all of Ohio, Kerry DeMoss of Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Warren was a retired truck driver, he also worked for Raymond Miller Construction in the Amish Community in Ohio. He liked to watch football and he used to enjoy hunting. Warren made his home in Ohio with a close brother, Mike DeMoss and wife Caroline. He was very close with this family. He will be missed by family and close friends. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 12-2 PM the funeral hour, with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
