Anna Maelene Grubb
Anna Maelene Grubb, age 68, of Adrian, WV, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at the St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born November 4, 1942 in Adrian, a daughter of the late Ralph Thomas and Nellie Gay Smith Reed. On July 1, 1961 she married Dane Icarius Grubb who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Donna R. Wamsley and Marcella K. Gamble both of Rock Cave and Lori L. Manley and husband Robert W. of Buckhannon; two sons, Dwayne Edward Grubb of Buckhannon and James Joseph Grubb of St. Albans, WV; one granddaughter, Lisa Ann Manley of Morgantown, WV; five grandsons, Mitchell Wayne Hyre and wife Carissa of Adrian, Gary Dane Gamble of Newell, WV, Caleb Thomas Manley of Buckhannon, Brandon Nathaniel Grubb and Jon Cameron Levi Grubb both of St. Albans; one brother, Daris Reed of Dill City, OK; three sisters, Erma Lewis and husband Don of Buckhannon, Susan Simons and husband Arthur of Buckhannon and Beatrice Courtney and husband Charles of Selbyville, WV; one great grandson, Frankie Hyre of Adrian; one great granddaughter, RaeAnna Maelene Hyre of Adrian and one brother in law, Norman Welch of Morgantown, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Anna Rae Wamsley; one brother, Joseph Reed and one sister, Betty Welch. Mrs. Grubb was a caregiver and a member of the Way Of Holiness Church. Friends will be received Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Way Of Holiness Church. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday at the church with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Vernon Larry Grove
Vernon Larry Grove, age 71, a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Belington, WV died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born August 10, 1941 a son of Hazel Lillian Thayer Grove of Buckhannon, WV and the late Basil Luther Grove. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one brother, Weldon Grove. In addition to his mother he is survived by one sister, Mona Stoneking of Columbus, GA; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Grove of Buckhannon; three nieces, Susan Hall and Crystal Ward both of Columbus, GA and Nita Grove of Buckhannon; and one nephew, Ken Stoneking of Lawrenceville, GA. Larry was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Ellamore, WV and Sand Run I.O.O.F. He lived most of his life on the family farm near Ellamore before moving to the Good Samaritan Home in Belington. He loved playing Rook, hunting, and playing bingo. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Dr. Charles Godwin, Jr.
Rev. Dr. Charles Godwin, Jr., age 89, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital NCF in Buckhannon. He was born August 17, 1923 in Elkins, WV, a son of the late Charles A. and Blanche Wilmoth Godwin. On March 6, 1945 he married Wilda Moore who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon Carr and husband Bob of Buckhannon; five sons, Rodney Godwin and wife Barbara, David Godwin and wife Jane all of Buckhannon, John Godwin and wife Kim of Morgantown, WV, Greg Godwin and wife Lisa of Athens, WV and Jeff Godwin and wife Diane of Buckhannon; eight grandsons, Kenneth and Robert Carr, Graham, Donovan, Jon Richard, Charles Wesley, Jordan and Ryan Godwin; eight granddaughters, Patricia Holley, Trisha Citrone, Lindsey Moehle, Natalie Eitel, Jocelyn Peters, Lauren, Susie and Emily Godwin; five great grandsons, Eugene, Tyler, Adam, Matthew and Michael and five great granddaughters, Sierra, Francesca, Genevieve, Audrey and Eliana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Adam Godwin and Dana Carr; one granddaughter, Margaret Ellen Godwin and one sister, Alphon Conner. Rev. Dr. Godwin attended the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He received an Academic B.A. from WVWC in 1949; M. Div. Garrett 1951; DD, WVWC (where he was a trustee for 32 years) in 1965; (Service): Canaan Circuit 1946; Bishop Hill (IL) 1947; Associate First, Clarksburg 1951; Moorefield 1955; St. Pauls, Oakland 1958; Parkersburg District Superintendent 1961; First, Buckhannon 1965; Bland Street 1977; St. Marks, Charleston 1982; Retired in 1989. After retirement he worked for Glenwood Park United Methodist Home, Hospice Care Corporation and St. Joseph's Hospital. The Boy Scouts of America awarded him the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service. He was a member of the Buckhannon Rotary Club and Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM and other various organizations. Friends will be received Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the First United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and the DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Charles Godwin Scholarship Fund at the First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St., Buckhnnon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kathryn Dowell Goldsmith
Kathryn Dowell Goldsmith, age 86, of Greenwood, WV, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born May 12, 1926 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late William Lewis and Bessie Jane Corathers Dowell. On May 31, 1958 she married L. G. Jack Goldsmith who survives. Also surviving is one son, Michael L. Goldsmith of Greenwood; one daughter, Rebecca J. Goldsmith of Greenwood; two grandsons, Jason Michael Goldsmith of Greenwood and Jonathan A. Goldsmith of CA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Lee Sowder and Nora V. Smith and five brothers, Page, Meyers, Howard, James and Keith Dowell. Mrs. Goldsmith was a homemaker and a Christian by faith. Friends will be received Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Reger Chapel Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Joyce Ann 'Joy' Goss
Joyce Ann 'Joy' Goss, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital with her devoted husband by her side on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was born November 14, 1941 in Rowan County, KY, a daughter of the late David Burke and Ruth Cox Alderman. On April 21, 1963 she married John Goss who survives. Also surviving is one son, John Paul Goss, II and wife Sam of Hodgesville, WV; one daughter, Jill Goss of Buckhannon; one grandson, Chad Goss of Morgantown, WV; five granddaughters, Johnelle, Jordyn, Jesika and Jonaye Goss all of Hodgesville and Shelby Starnes of Buckhannon; three step grandchildren, Erika, Jay and Lyndsey Trail and four step great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Alderman of Covington, GA and Ashley Alderman of Flemingsburg, KY and one sister, Myrna Carpenter of Conyers, GA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lynn Goss; one step grandson, Kevin Starnes and two sisters, Ramona Semones and Kaye Frye. Joy was the owner of Joyce Anns Beauty Shop and Smaller Measures. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Friends will be received Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethany Baptist Cemetery at Hall, WV. In lieu of flower contributions may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah Gould
Sarah Gould, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at her home. She was born July 3, 1928 in Greenbrier County, WV, a daughter of the late Amos and Mae Susan Sizemore Tharp. On September 21, 1963 she married Gilbert G. Gould who preceded her in death on July 1, 1996. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Eula Tharp, Carrie Lorentz, Edna Hamrick and Hallie Hawkins and one brother, Oscar Tharp. She is survived by one daughter, Raetta Carder and husband Matthew of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Marena Shipley of Winston-Salem, NC and Ashley Shipley Schlwable and husband Chris of Buckhannon; one grandson, Bradley Shipley of Buckhannon; great grandchildren, Kaleb, Xo, Sarah, Julius, Tyler and Olivia; one sister, Lucille Brooks of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and a best friend, Dorothy Bowyer of Buckhannon. Mrs. Gould was a homemaker. Burial will be in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Francine Mattie Gundersen
Francine Mattie Gundersen, age 37, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, April 5, 2013 at her home. She was born November 8, 1975 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Ralph Jackson and Glenna Marie Kincaid Duggan. On July 2, 2011 she married Gary M. Gundersen, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Lee Bevans, Jr. and Ryan Jack Bevans, both of Buckhannon; one step son, Bryan Hardman of Glenville, WV; two sisters, Dana Sandy of Buckhannon and Angel Cox of Shinnston, WV; four nephews, Brandon, Cameron, Brian Bub and Mikey; one niece, Katrina and one great niece Sapheria. Mattie was a photo lab specialist at Wal-Mart. Friends will be received 4-7 PM Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow starting at 7 PM with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ethel Jenkins
Ethel Jenkins, age 101, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Willow Park Rehabilitation and Care Center in Willow Park, TX. She was born December 20, 1914 in Mannington, WV, a daughter of the late Daniel James and Ethel Webster Rogerson Hanley. On January 28, 1935 she married Hugh Drummond Jenkins who preceded her in death on July 23, 2000. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Jean Van Horn; one son-in-law, Samuel Eugene Van Horn and one sister, Sarah Ruth Clelland. Surviving are two grandsons, Samuel Van Horn and wife Denise of Annapolis, MD and Steven D. Van Horn and wife Barbara of Weatherford, TX; one granddaughter, Julie Ruth Van Horn of Atlanta, GA; five great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 9 to 11 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fairmont, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry Edward Bub Garrett
Larry Edward Bub Garrett, age 64, of Volga, WV died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Broaddus Hospital in Philippi, WV. He was born December 25, 1948 in Peeltree, WV a son of the late James E. and Helen Ruth Nutter Garrett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one nephew, Jamie DeBolt. He is survived by one daughter, Tracie Burr and husband Randell of Volga; six granddaughters, Christine Loudin and fianc Dustin Claypool of Buckhannon, WV, Bobbie Jo Sharp and husband Jerimiah of OH, Christina Brady and husband Walt of Buckhannon, Tonya Gould and husband Brad, Erica Clark and husband Mark and Rachel Sargent all of French Creek, WV; one grandson, David Burr and wife Breanna of Buckhannon; great grandchildren, Corbin, Cody, Parker, Caden, Jayron, Cameron, Dougie, Hunter, Henry, Levi, Ford, Tristen, Tyson, Alyssa, Trayka, Megyn, Hannah and Brooklyn; one sister, Ruth DeBolt and husband Jim of OK; two nieces, Wendy Fordyce and fianc Dirk Streater and Jennifer Taylor and husband Trevor all of OK; three great nephews, Tyler and Justin Fordyce and Chase Taylor; one great niece, Alexus Taylor and a special friend, Mike Fordyce of Glendale, WV. Mr. Garrett was a Journeyman. He served in the Army during Vietnam. He loved his family, golfing, 4 wheeling and fishing. A private family service will be held at a later date. Jimmie F. Lantz
Jimmie F. Lantz, age 74, of Hagerstown, MD and formerly of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, March 13, 2015 at his home in Hagerstown. He was born August 17, 1940 in Mabie, WV, a son of the late Howard Riley and Mary Olive Knotts Lantz. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving are one daughter, Debbie Saylor of Hagerstown; one son James Ray Lantz of Springfield, VA; three grandsons, Timothy Saylor of Manassas, VA, Andrew Saylor of Hagerstown and James N. Lantz of Springfield; four granddaughters, Jessica Saylor and Audrey R., Alison R. and Olivia R. Lantz all of Springfield; one great grandson, Anthony Lee Saylor of Manassas; one great granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Saylor of Manassas and two sisters. Mr. Lantz was a mechanic and served in the U.S. Army. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Hinkleville, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the gravesite. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gladys Ruth Mills Grubb
Gladys Ruth Mills Grubb, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born September 23, 1935 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Ocie Brenice Hibbs Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Grubb; one sister, Nancy Lee Mills and two brothers, Charles E. and Arthur Glen Mills. Surviving are two sons, Gary Allen Mills and Charles LeRoy Grubb, both of Buckhannon; three daughters, Melinda Mills and Patricia Ann Grubb, both of Buckhannon and Joyce Apple of Kingfisher, OK; several grandchildren; five sisters, Wrickey M. Barnett of Akron, OH, Alda Wren Zirkle of Bridgeport, WV, Hettie Hall of Akron, Dora Parkhill of Buckhannon and Dorothy Harper of Louisville, KY; two brothers, Cleston Mills of French Creek, WV and William Robert Mills of Hartville, OH and a niece, Cetrina Marshell Smith of MD. Mrs. Grubb was a homemaker. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Friday, May 3, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Church Cemetery in Excelsior, WV.
