Betty Lou Warner Gaunt
Betty Lou Warner Gaunt, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, March 21, 2016 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born October 02, 1925 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Edgar and Cosbie Teets Warner. On June 12, 1954 she married William Hazelton Gaunt who preceded her in death on January 15, 2009. Surviving are one son, Barry William Gaunt and wife Twona of Bowling Green, KY; one daughter, Bonnie Gaunt Wilson and husband Michael of Bend, OR; step grandchildren, Stephanie, Chad and Corey; great grandchildren Hannah and Chad Jr.; four sisters-in-law, Annabelle Tolliver of Buckhannon, Fern Stewart of Canton, OH; Barbara Gaunt of Gallopolis Ferry, WV and Lucille Warner of Buckhannon; very special niece Joyce Greene of Buckhannon, and many more wonderful loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Anthony Gaunt and her brothers Clyde Warner, Hartzel Warner, Addie Mason, Myrtle Ward and Eleanor Mackie. She was a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church. Betty was a loving wife and mother who in her earlier years loved to golf, cook, work in the yard, and take care of her home and children. Her one true love and best friend was her husband, Bill. Let us find and encourage within ourselves those gifts that make each of us special; the extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart. Long live the beauty that comes down and through and onto all of us. We love you, mom. Friends will be received Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Waugh H. Hoffman
Waugh H. Hoffman, age 86 of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1920, a son of the late Sedrick Lee and Mary Martha Rush Huffman. On June 3, 1947 he married Eva Ruth Booth who preceded him in death October 19, 1999. He is survived by one daughter; Karen Kay Hull and husband Virgil of Buckhannon, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by eleven brothers and two sisters. Mr. Hoffman worked as an autoworker for General Motors and was a member of the Gertrude Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, the Eagles and the Willoughby Moose Lodge, Willoughby, OH. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received 6-9 PM Friday, July 6, 2007 at Poling- St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wanda E. Humphrey
Wanda E. Humphrey, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew, WV. She was born December 11, 1919 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Homer and Weltha Humphrey Shreve. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Humphrey in 1981; a stepson, James Humphrey; five brothers, Hurbert, Oscar, Junior, Ray and Gene Shreve and three sisters, Opal Ervin, Helen Crosswhite and Margaret Dean. She is survived by a special niece, Margaret Zickefoose of Buckhannon; one son, David H. Humphrey of Texas; two step sons, Arlie Humphrey and wife Shirley of Baltimore, MD and Floyd Humphrey and wife Wanda of Bunker Hill, WV; one step daughter, Onia Sis Strawderman and husband Riley of Parsons, WV; one daughter in law, Rose Humphrey of Parsons; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two brothers, Harold Shreve of Batavian, OH and Robert Shreve of Luray, VA and one sister, Rose Cutright and husband, Floyd of Tallmansville, WV. Mrs. Humphrey was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church. Friends will be received Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edward Ruhl Lawson
Edward Ruhl Lawson, age 84, formerly of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, March 30, 2007 at Anna Maria Nursing Home in Aurora, OH. The son of the late Merlin Ruhl and Kathryn Ward Lawson, he was born July 1, 1922 in Grafton, WV but grew up in Berlin, WV, graduating from Weston High School. He met his wife, the former Clara Jett Strader of Buckhannon, while attending WV Wesleyan College. At the time of her death in 2003, they had been married for 61 years. Edward also attended WV University in Morgantown and received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, PA, graduating with honors. He worked for the Watson-Standard Co. of Pittsburgh for 46 years, which originally sold and developed trade sales paints and later produced industrial coatings. At the time of his retirement, the company newsletter noted the following; Ed began his career as a chemist in the laboratory at Plant 1. Following eight years of diligent, hard work, Ed was promoted to Chief Chemist in 1954. A few years later, he moved to Delaware, Ohio to become the industrial and technical coatings sales representative for that territory. After 18 successful years in sales, Ed returned to Pittsburgh and assumed the duties of Technical Director. In the early 1980s he designed and installed the first computer system ever at Watson Standard Co. A co-worker made note of his kindness, gentleness, perseverance and desire to do work well. His family can attest to that and to his courage and integrity; for while he endured multiple sclerosis for over 40 years, he always put the welfare of his family first. While he was able, he enjoyed golfing, and assisting his wife with her art projects by making plaster molds and glazes and frames for her paintings. Preceded in death by his sister, Louise DeFrancis. He is survived by two sons, Stephen Edward Lawson of Sylvania, OH and Gregory Lawson of Ft. Collins, CO; three daughters, Linda Miller of Newport, ME, Barbara Trueman of Aurora, OH and Michelle Strader of Bethlehem, PA and Eden, WV and five grandsons, five granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorentz Church Cemetery at Lorentz, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Franklin Delano Hornbeck
Franklin Delano Hornbeck, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, January 14, 2008 at his home. He was born April 21, 1933 on Sand Run in WV, a son of the late Benjamin Isaac and Jessie Pearl Rowan Hornbeck. On May 17, 1985 he married M. Eileen Wright Hornbeck who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Margie Elaine Abshire and husband Steve of Hartselle, AL and Cindy P. Hornbeck of Warren, OH; one son, Randall Franklin Hornbeck of Hartselle; one step daughter, Carolyn Anne Wilson and husband John of Ocean City, MD; four grandsons, Nathan Franklin Hornbeck of Buckhannon, Jason Franklin Hornbeck of Decatur, AL, Marcus Edward Barnovsky of Elyria, OH and Travis Stephenson Abshire of Hartselle; one granddaughter, Justine Marie Barnovsky of Elyria; two sisters, Helen Suder and husband Alva of Minerva, OH and Barbra White and husband Scott of Buckhannon and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Nellie Pearl (Woofter) Hornbeck and one brother, Lewis Eugene Hornbeck. Mr. Hornbeck was a pipe fitter for Copperweld Steel. He was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598 and he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Friends will be received Friday, January 18, 2008 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bradley Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Madie B. Hornbeck
Madie B. Hornbeck, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at her home. She was born July 13, 1923 at Tallmansville, WV a daughter of the late Lee & Nora Reed Glass. She is survived by her husband Marple C. Hornbeck of Buckhannon; two daughters, Phyllis D. Coyner of Buckhannon and Sue Garman and husband Ron of Alta Loma, CA; two granddaughters, Ammie Garman of Rim Forest, CA and Megan Kimble and husband J.B. of Buckhannon; one great granddaughter, Jansen Kimble of Buckhannon and one sister, Ocie Schulthies of Jessup, MD. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen Glass and wife Edith, Richard Glass and wife Margaret and Ennis Glass and two sisters, Sadie Wentz and husband John and Lottie Glass. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Amber L. Jenkins
Amber L. Jenkins, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at her home. She was born February 9, 1922 in Akron, OH, a daughter of the late Claude F. and Madeline A. Curry Hevener. On October 25, 1984 she married Glenn P. Jenkins who preceded her in death on March 18, 2004. She is survived by one son, Irving (Sonny) Bardin, Jr. of Paducah, KY; two daughters, Dale E. Smith and husband Joseph of Paducah and Joan K. Harman and husband Kenneth of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, five grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker. Friends will be received Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home from 1 to 2 PM at which time a memorial services will be held with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. In lieu of flowers a donation in her name may be made to your local Humane Society. Interment will be in the Rock Cave Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV at a later date. Herman L. Kimble
Herman L. Kimble, age 94, departed this life at 3:50 AM on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Serenity Care Home, where he was a resident. He was born September 23, 1914 in Grant County, WV the son of the late Arthur and Zella Kimble. On December 24, 1938 he married Bessie V. Alt, who survives. In addition to his wife, Herman is survived by three sons, Jerry L. Kimble and wife, Patty, William M. Bill Kimble and wife, Sharon and Wayne L. Kimble and wife Diane, all of Buckhannon. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one brother, Glenn Kimble of Petersburg, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Herman was also preceded in death by one brother, Lenford Kimble and three sisters, Gerna Feaster, Opal Alt and Annie Kimble all of Petersburg, WV. Herman was employed by the F. C. Cook Lumber Co. and later by the City of Buckhannon as the Street Commissioner. Herman was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon where he attended Sunday School, Worship and was a member of the United Methodist Men, he was also an active member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Herman loved the outdoors and enjoyed his vegetable garden each year. He gave much of his produce to neighbors, family and friends. In his later years, his winters were spent looking at seed catalogues and planning next years crops. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 5-8 PM and at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg on Wednesday, January 21 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Damon Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the South Branch Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marple C. Hornbeck
Marple C. Hornbeck, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, August 11, 2008 at his home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. He was born October 8, 1914 at Mt. Union, WV, a son of the late Andrew J. and Eva Bennett Hornbeck. On March 13, 1944 he married Madie B. Glass who preceded him in death on June 21, 2008. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Hornbeck and wife Pearl, Dan Hornbeck and wife Vonda and Charles Hornbeck and son-in-law, Larry Coyner. He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis D. Coyner of Buckhannon and Sue Garman and husband Ron of Alta Loma, CA; two granddaughters, Ammie Garman of Rim Forest, CA and Megan Kimble and husband J. B. of Buckhannon; one great granddaughter, Jansen Kimble of Buckhannon; one sister, Lillian Waugh of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Vera Hornbeck of Tallmansville, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hornbeck was a postal worker and served in the U. S. Army at Sitka, Alaska during World War II. In his thirty odd years of retirement he loved fishing, camping and being outdoors. Friends will be received from 6-9 PM, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Angeline Kittle
Angeline Kittle, age 85 of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born on March 16, 1924 in Upshur Co. a daughter of the late Ralph R. and Della Tenney Wamsley. On July 3, 1941 she married Earl L. Kittle who preceded her in death on July 31, 1993. She is survived by Brother-in-Law Ronald L. Bennett of Buckhannon; one brother Ronsdale Wamsley of Buckhannon and one sister Varna Evans of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter Darlene Kittle; three brothers, Winston, Leonard and Lloyd Wamsley and four sisters, Juandina Simmons, Lacy Mildred Wamsley, Margeory Stanton and Rosalie Bennett. Mrs. Kittle was a homemaker. Friends will be received Friday, October 23, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Ocie Hinkle
Mrs. Ocie Hinkle, age 93, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Browns Nursing Home in Statesboro, GA. She was raised in Buckhannon, West Virginia was a graduate of Fairmont University and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was a homemaker and taught school for 17 years in Prince William County, Manassas, Virginia. She was a member of the Brooklet United Methodist Church and the Mollie Lee Sunday School Class in Brooklet. Mrs. Hinkle was also a member of the WMU in Manassas, VA at the Grace United Methodist Church. After retirement she and her husband Glenn lived in Georgia and Florida. She had lived with her daughter, Iris Metzger in Brooklet, Ga. for the past few years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, playing scrabble and baking for her family and friends. Mrs. Hinkle was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hinkle; her sister, Mattie Donnelly; her three brothers, Oral Lang, Ray Lang and Coy Lang. Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Bert Gillespie of Fairmont, West VA, Iris and Bill Metzger of Brooklet, GA and Laura and Bill Oren of Deltona, Florida; her three sons and two sons-in-law, Robert and Doris Hinkle of Fredericksburg, VA, Ken and Margaret Hinkle of Nokesville, VA and J. Randall Hinkle of Townsend, Ga.; sixteen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday at from 10:00 until 11:00 Saturday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, 95 S. Kanawha St., Buckhannon, West Virginia. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family requests, that donations be made to the Brooklet United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 201 Parker Avenue, Brooklet, GA 30415. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
