Ethel M. 'Billie' Poling
Ethel M. 'Billie' Poling, age 62, of Buckhannon, WV the Hodgesville Community, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at her home. She was born February 7, 1948 in Akron, OH, a daughter of the late John and Joyce Ellis Davis. On December 22, 1971 she married Robert Poling who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Shawn Marie Mills and husband Richard Kevin of Beckley, WV, Joyce Mary Blair and husband Michael John of Maricopa, AZ and Casey Poling Buttari and husband John of Hammonton, NJ; one sister, Cheri Smith and husband Roger of Weston, WV; two brothers, William Thorton Davis and Bob Davis and (Julie) all of Akron; three grandsons, James Chewning, Jr. of Maricopa, Cody Ray Mills of Beckley and Zachary Frohnapfel of Maricopa; four granddaughters, Holly Prentice and husband Matt of Beckley, Amber Chewning of Buckhannon, Katherine Frohnapfel of Maricopa and Katherine Phillips and fianc Timothy McBride of John Bend, WV; two great-granddaughters, Lillian McBride of John Bend and soon to arrive Kinley Brooke Prentice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son. Billie was a Senior Companion. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 12 Noon until 2 PM the funeral hour. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

George James Lanham
George James Lanham, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at his home. He was born September 9, 1925 in Barbour Co., WV, a son of the late Oral and Texie Thompson Lanham. On November 29, 1953 he married Audra A. Wentz who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Ross Lanham and wife Joy of Elizabeth, WV; one granddaughter Colleen Lanham of Princeton, WV; one step granddaughter, Anessa Dille and husband Tom of Mineral Wells, WV; one step grandson, Jason Roberts and wife Jennifer of Bridgeport, WV; six step great grandchildren; two brothers Arthur Lanham of Elkton, MD and Delbert Lanham; one sister, Sylvia Regester and husband Garry of Buckhannon and two sisters-in-law, Louella Hansford and husband Gary of Buckhannon and Tina Lanham of Williamsport, MD. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Charles Lanham. Mr. Lanham was a Postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, the Stamp Club and the Upshur Co. Historical Society. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Friends will be received Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas E. Hoy
Thomas E. Hoy, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born November 7, 1941 in Plainfield, NJ, a son of the late Raymond Francis Hoy and Ruth Thatcher Collum. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and best friend, Bud Hotaling. On July 23, 1966 he married Wanda Smith who survives. Also surviving are one son, David Hoy of Buckhannon; two daughters, Christine Flanagan and husband Patrick and Lisa Quici both of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Robbie, Joey and Danny Quici all of Buckhannon and Tommy Hoy of Levittown, PA; one step grandson, Drew Quici of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Vanessa Quici of Buckhannon; former son-in-law, Robert Quici of Buckhannon; two brothers, Raymond Hoy and wife Phyllis of Berlin, MA and Dale Hoy and wife Rita of Corpus Christi, TX; three sisters, Georgeann Rigney and husband Bill of Levittown, Karen Mancuso and husband Larry of Thorofare, NJ and Janie DiGiacomo and husband Gary of Wyndmoor, PA; two brother-in-laws, Robert Smith and wife Mary Lee of Ashton, IL and Clinton Smith of Oceana, WV; four sister-in-laws, Lucille Pingilley and husband Don of Cheboygan, MI, Emma Hotaling of Herkimer, NY, Carol Mathison and husband Dan of Alburgh, VT and Joann Smith of Hilltop, WV; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hoy was a technician for Brother International. He served with the US Marine Corps from 1959-1962. He loved his grandchildren, the Marine Corps and Notre Dame (GO IRISH). Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Randall Roy officiating. Burial will follow at 3 PM in the Harrah Cemetery at Backus Mt., WV. Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lucy Mae Hoover
Lucy Mae Hoover, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born October 10, 1932 in Adrian, WV, a daughter of the late Leonard and Laura Jane McCartney DeMastes. She was married to Robert Hoover whom preceded her in death on December 24, 1996. She is survived by one daughter, Debra Perrie and husband Michael of Gladstone, VA; two sons, Charles Chuck Farrar and wife Joanne of Frenchton, WV and Troy Farrar of Norfolk, VA; thirteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Hoover was a homemaker. As per her request she will be cremated and there will be no services. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marjorie Lou Pritchard
Marjorie Lou Pritchard, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born October 10, 1931 in Lewis County, WV, a daughter of the late Clifford and Sylvania F. Rohrbough Pritchard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Duane Pritchard and one sister, Betty Madden. She is survived by a cousin, Joanne Robinson Perez and husband Rev. Dr. Joseph A. of Adrian, MI and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarksburg, WV. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Clarksburg I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Clarksburg with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Perez officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Loyal Hunt
Robert Loyal Hunt, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born May 22, 1924 in Barbour County, WV, a son of the late Earl Lee and Daultie Corrick Hunt. On December 20, 1967 he married Ruth J. Fearn who preceded him in death on December 16, 2009. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Jean Mackey and one brother, Willis A. Hunt. He is survived by one daughter, Merrilee Hunt of Buckhannon; one son, Robert Lee Hunt of Twin Lakes, MI; one brother, Denny Hunt of OH and a step brother, Milton Hunt of GA. Mr. Hunt was a History Professor at West Virginia Wesleyan College. He was a member of the WV Federation of the Blind. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Anyone wishing to, may make contributions to the WV Federation of the Blind. Make checks payable to WVNFB, 220 Buena Vesa Ave, Clarksburg, WV 26301. Christopher Paige Poling
Christopher Paige Poling, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born April 27, 1949 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Fredrick and Anna Smith Poling. He is survived by two sons, Spencer C. Zoller and wife Anna L. of Raleigh, NC and Jeremy S. Poling of Frederick, MD; two granddaughters, Mary Abigail and Pamela Grace Zoller both of Raleigh and one brother, James F. Poling and wife Scarlett of Buckhannon. Mr. Poling was a carpenter and a member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles. Friends will be received Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with Fraternal Order Of Eagles Service at 8 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with his son Jeremy officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Roselyn Ann Ogden
Roselyn Ann Ogden, age 65, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born July 17, 1944 in Audra, WV, a daughter of the late Paul and Hazel Phillips Clark. On December 26, 1962 she married Rev. Richard D. Ogden who survives. Also, surviving are one son, Richard E. Ogden and wife Lisa of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Leslie Ogden of Elkins; one grandson, Matthew Ogden of Buckhannon; three brothers, Russell Clark of Appomattox, VA, Arkie Clark of West Palm Beach, FL and James Clark of Leavenworth, KS and one sister, Patti Clark Burk of Sterling, CO. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Clark, Jr. and Richard, Billy and Roy Howard Clark her twin and four sisters, Irene Clark Gunnerson, Bonnie Clark Holland, Deloris Tostie Austry and Marie Clark Alexander. Rose was a former employee of Wal-Mart, she loved her work and greatly missed her friends after she had to stop working because of her health. She loved doing crafts, painting and working in her flowerbeds. She never gave up. Everyday she had a mission to complete. She loved the smile she would get when she would give one of her little crafts away. She was a very strong believer in God and was very quick tell people about her Lord and God. In her final days she found comfort in singing Jesus Loves Me. She served as a United Methodist Ministers Wife for 35 years, a life of many trials. Friends will be received Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ken A. Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dellia Virginia Hoover
Dellia Virginia Hoover, age 78, of Tallmansville, WV died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at her home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice in Buckhannon, WV. She was born August 27, 1933 in Ten Mile, WV, a daughter of the late Willie and Frances Tenney Russell. She married Troy W. Hoover who preceded her in death on October 27, 1988. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Hoover; one brother, Bradford Abe Russell; two sisters, Opal Harper and Wredia Zirkle and one infant brother and sister. She is survived by two sons, Doug and Eddy Hoover, both of Tallmansville; five daughters, Madelene Bowman and husband Michael, Susan Virginia Boyce and husband Loyd and Donna Hoover all of Tallmansville, Avis Blagg of French Creek, WV and Judy Lemons and Delmar Suttle of Hodgesville, WV; six grandsons, Wayne and Tyler Lemons, both of Hodgesville, Henry and Charley Blagg, both of French Creek, Matthew Boyce of Tallmansville and Mikie Bowman and fiance Sarah Hamner of Sago, WV; two granddaughters, Jenny Sue Boyce and Jessica Bowman, both of Tallmansville; three brothers, Garnet Russell and wife Madeline of Ellamore, WV, Grover Russell and wife Etta of Tallmansville and Nelson Russell and wife Mary of Cutright Chapel, WV and two sisters, Myrtle Kelley of Ten Mile and Evelyn Winkler of Buckhannon. Mrs. Hoover was a homemaker and a Pentecostal by faith. Friends will be received Monday, June 18, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Robert Thomas Horstman
Rev. Robert Thomas Horstman, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, April 2, 2012 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, his immortal soul lives on saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. He was born May 1, 1928 in New Martinsville, WV, a son of the late Edwin D. and Emma H. Willard Horstman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ernestine M. (Tina) Cutright, whom he married on April 30, 1954. Also surviving are two children, Robyn M. Horstman and companion Dave Canterbury of Newburg, WV and Bryan T. Horstman of Boston, MA; three grandchildren, Christina M. Thompson and husband Chris of Elkins, WV, Justin T. Ketterman of Buckhannon and Tiffany A. Mills and husband Eric of Sevierville, TN; six great grandsons, Logan, Hunter and Blake Rowan of Elkins, Kaedan Hitt and Sebastian Mills of Sevierville and Christian Ketterman of Buckhannon; two nephews, Neil Horstman of Leesburg, VA and Don E. Horstman of FL; one niece, Beth Roush of Owensboro, KY; one sister in law, Shirley Horstman of Owensboro and many cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred and Betty Horstman and two brothers, E. Willard and Donald Horstman. He graduated from Moundsville High School, Moundsville, WV in 1948 and from WV Wesleyan College, in 1951, with a BA Degree in English and Psychology. His Theological training was at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, GA, where he received a Master of Divinity Degree in 1957. He was licensed as a local preacher in the United Methodist Church in 1947 and ordained as an Elder in 1957. He served as a student pastor in WV and GA, and as an Elder in Kansas. After retirement in 1991 he served two short term appointments in Gassaway and Flatwoods, WV. His last sustained service was as Stated Supply Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of our Savior, Clarksburg, WV. As a student in Seminary he was a Staff Counselor at the Georgian Clinic for the rehabilitation of Alcoholics, Atlanta, GA. He did his Clinical Education at Topeka State Hospital, KS, and received certification as a Clinical Chaplain. He was Director of Pastoral Care at Embreeville, State Hospital, West Chester, PA. for 10 years. Returning to WV he became the Director of the Substance Abuse Unit at Weston State Hospital and joined the Counseling staff of the Appalachian Institute in Bridgeport. WV. In 1979 he was appointed as the Chief of Chaplains at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. In retirement he continued a practice in Pastoral Counseling. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Hall House and the Upshur Parish, Buckhannon, WV in pursuit of ongoing programs. Opal Malinda Johns
Opal Malinda Johns, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, October 20, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born October 20, 1913 in Cherry Fork, WV, a daughter of the late William Grover and Dorthy Fornash McCartney. On June 24, 1934 she married William Jesse Johns who preceded her in death on June 29, 1983. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Dorothy Rene Johns and two brothers, Russell and Wease McCartney. She is survived by four sons, Harold Johns and wife Anna Ruth of Flintstone, MD, Howard Johns and wife Shelia of Buckhannon, Nelson Johns and wife Brenda of Buckhannon and Michael Johns and wife Juanita of Charleston, WV; two daughters, Frances Stewart of Denver, NC and Dorothy Koert and husband Arthur of Buckhannon; eighteen grandchildren; two step grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Kermit McCartney of Buckhannon, Delbert McCartney of Crawford, WV and Cecil McCartney of Crawford and one sister, Murl Walton of Kanawha Head, WV. Mrs. Johns was a homemaker and a member of the Heaston United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. She will lie-in-state on Sunday at the Heaston United Methodist Church from 1-2 PM the funeral hour. The Rev. Sue Lowther will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rose Madeline Hosaflook
Rose Madeline Hosaflook, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, February 6, 2012 at her home. She was born June 5, 1926 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Emery and Cordie Phipps Reger. On October 12, 1946 she married Warren Brownie Hosaflook who preceded her death on November 28, 1999. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Hosaflook; three brothers, Ernie, Waldo and Orvil Reger and two sisters, Genevieve Bunner and Maxine Sayre. She is survived by two sons, Danny Hosaflook and wife Jewell of Ocala, FL and Melvin Hosaflook and wife Sharon of French Creek, WV; two granddaughters, Carmela McHenry of Hemlock, WV and Gina Hosaflook of Ocala; three grandsons, Steve Hosaflook of Irvine, CA, Vince Hosaflook of Jacksonville, FL and Cody Hosaflook of French Creek; three great-grandsons, Keegan and Track McHenry both of Hemlock and Warner Hosaflook of Irvine; two great-granddaughters, Kaylin Walton and Carly McHenry both of Hemlock; two brothers, Loyal Reger of Queen Anne, MD and Burnell Reger of Mansfield, OH and two sisters, Ada Tenney of Canal Fulton, OH and Goldie Tinsley of Scott Depot, WV. Mrs. Hosaflook was a plant worker at Moore Business Forms. Friends will be received Friday, February 10, 2012 from 1-2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Dale Church Cemetery at Selbyville, WV.
