Judythe Carolyn Hobbs
Judythe Carolyn Hobbs, 64 years, passed away at home on November 4, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. She was twice married. In 1965 she was wed to Elwood V. Lambert who preceded her in death April 1979. She then wed R. Dennis Hobbs in 1984 who survives in Buckhannon, WV. In addition to her husband she leaves four daughters, Angel L. Lambert and partner Jay Mines of Clarksburg, WV, Angela C. Losh and husband James Losh of Mill Creek, WV, Sherry L. Underwood of Buckhannon and Susan R. Channell and husband James Mike Channell of Elkins, WV; Eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; she is also survived by her mother, Frances M. Chaney who made her home with her for the last six years; one brother, Donald Powell and wife Shirley of Annapolis, MD, and one sister Sharon A. Costello and husband Tom of Fon-du-Lac, WI. She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne V. Lambert and two step sons, Randy Hobbs and Ryan Hobbs, one grandson, Earl V. Ward and one great grandson. She had been employed for a number of years as a in home care provider until her retirement. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening and yard work. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 6-9 PM. Graveside services will be held 1 PM Thursday at the Bethel Cemetery in Parsons, WV with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arragements.

Abby Beth Hoge
Abby Beth Hoge, age 15, of French Creek, WV died Wednesday, July 20, 2011. She was born March 13, 1996 in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of Donald Wayne Hoge of Buckhannon and Kimberly Frances Howard of French Creek. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Ronald Wesley Woody and Kylan Wayne Hoge both of Buckhannon; paternal grandmother, Sandy Hardman and husband Brian of Horner, WV; paternal grandfather, James Hoge and wife Toni of Moundsville, WV; paternal great-grandfather, Burl Hewitt of Buckhannon; maternal grandparents, Ed and Geraldine Howard of Buckhannon; two aunts, Edwina Howard-Jack of Buckhannon and Debora Hoge McCall of Rainelle, WV; uncle, James Hoge and wife Marcy of Moundsville great aunt, Ann Howard Robinson of Buckhannon;; 1st cousins, Seth and Taylor Jack both of Buckhannon and Hyden and Ashton Hoge both of Moundsville and several friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Archibald Frances Howard, Floy DeBarr Howard and Pearl Emma Dilley and paternal great-grandmother, Ellen Hewitt. Abby was an Honor Student at B-U High School. She was a cheerleader at BUMS, a member of the US Gymnastics Assoc., and a member of the Jr. Olympic Team, an avid reader and gifted in Language and a joy to every life she touched. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon, a Valedictorian of French Creek Elementary School, multiple recipient of the Young Writers Award and she was an Organ Donor. Friends will be received Monday, July 25, 2011 from 5-9 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bruce Macbeth officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. A reception will follow in the Banquet Hall of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge. Donations may be made to the Abby Beth Hoge Young Hero Scholarship Fund c/o First Presbyterian Church 13 South Locust Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Poling-St. Clair Funeral is in charge of the arrangements.

Mildred Hinkle
Mildred Hinkle, age 84, of Philippi, WV formerly of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Mansfield Place in Philippi under the care of Mountain Hospice. She was born April 6, 1927 in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Samuel and Emma Tenney Dawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Retice Junior Hinkle who preceded her in death on October 27, 1987. She is survived by one son, Retice D. Hinkle and wife Joann of Philippi; two grandsons, Eric Hinkle and wife Tonya Summersville, WV, Derrick J. Hinkle and wife Erica of Buffalo, WY; three great-grandsons, Nate and Camden Hinkle both of Buffalo an Logan Hinkle of Summersville; one great-granddaughter, Caroline Hinkle of Summersville one step-granddaughter, Amanda Hinkle of Florence; one step great-granddaughter, Madison Hinkle of Florence, SC; two brothers, Blonda Dawson and wife Hilda of Buckhannon and John Dawson of Summersville. Mrs. Hinkle was a homemaker and a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church. She was a life time member of VFW Post # 3663 Ladies Aux., a member of the Heavner Grove CEOs, Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598 and Clarksburg Guild for the Blind. Friends will be received Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Orval R. Hinzman
Orval R. Hinzman, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born October 12, 1929 in Berlin, WV, a son of the late Roy and Chaffie Warner Hinzman. On July 28, 1956 he married Anna Jean Reese who survives. Also surviving are one son, Daniel R. Hinzman and wife Sandra E. of Buckhannon; twin grandchildren, Jacob R. Hinzman and Kelsey M. Hinzman both of Buckhannon; two brothers, Hayward Hinzman and wife Emilie of Lewisburg, WV and John B. Hinzman and wife Joan of Weston, WV; two sisters, Maxine Smith of Greenbelt, MD and Betty Cottrill and husband James of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; two sisters-in-law, Janith Hinzman of Bridgeport, WV and Lois Taylor of Ft. Myers, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hinzman and his twin brother, Norval Hinzman and one sister, Dorothy Taylor. Mr. Hinzman, was an area superintendent for Columbia Gas Co., and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Mr. Hinzman was a 1948 graduate from Jane Lew High School. He was a 50-year member of the Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM, a member of the Upshur County Shrine Club and Buckhannon Knights of Pythias. Orval enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and was an avid sports fan particularly the WVU Mountaineers. Friends will be received Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Shreve officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Weston. Lewis County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside, along with the Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM will conducting Masonic graveside rites. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Orvals memory to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church or the Upshur Co. Shrine Club. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John C. Howard
John C. Howard, age 69, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, May 16, 2011 at his home. He was born January 26, 1942 in Buckhannon a son of the late Walter Raven and Virgie Towsen Howard. In addition to his parents Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his step father, Verlin D. Nitz and three brothers, Earl and Danny Howard and Cedric Nitz. He is survived by two daughters, Melinda Howard of Canton, OH and Sue Anne Howard of Buckhannon; four sons, John Eugene Howard of Warren, OH, Johnny Rick Howard and wife Heidi of Buckhannon, Frankie Junior Howard and wife Melissa of Carrollton, OH and David Wayne Howard of Minerva, OH; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three brothers, Roger Howard and wife Jean of Buckhannon, Steve Nitz of Dalton, OH and Verlin Nitz, Jr. and wife Loretta of Minerva; four sisters, Barbara Baum of OH, Sondra Bailey of Minerva, Sherry Small and husband David and Linda Lanham and husband Gene all of Carrollton, OH and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Howard was a truck driver for Brown Township in Ohio. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 10-11AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Church Cemetery in Hodgesville, WV. Velma Pete M. Hornbeck
Velma Pete M. Hornbeck, passed away, Friday, January 14, 2011 in Greer, SC. She was born August 29, 1915, a daughter of the late Austin and Rosa Smith Tenney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denvil Dude H. Hornbeck; a son, Dwaine E. Hornbeck; brothers, Earl, Raymond, Forrest and Juel Tenney and a sister, Amy Flo Riggs. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Roberts (John) of Greer, SC; a son, H. Lee Hornbeck (Sue) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, J. Scott Roberts (Lisa) of Lexington, SC, Kenneth Roberts (Leslie) of Grafton, OH, Deborah Wilson (Tony) of Kuna, Idaho, Ryan Hornbeck (Trishka) of Greer, SC, Carissa Hornbeck of Brooklyn, NY; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was a long-time active member of the Sand Run Baptist Church and the Last Charter Member of the Heavner Grove CEOS. She was also owner of Sunset Crafts. Funeral services will be held at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 11:30 AM the family will receive friends one hour prior to services conducted by the Rev. Robert Poling. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sand Run Baptist Church in Excelsior, WV. Betty A. Hyre
Betty A. Hyre, age 79 of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born June 15, 1931 in Webster County, WV a daughter of the late Forrest and Laura Wilfong Cutright. On June 7, 1951 she married Herbert Hyre, Jr. of Buckhannon who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Vicki Simmons of Zanesville, OH and Patricia Hyre of Vail, CO; two grandsons, Daniel Patrick Corder and wife Abby of Zanesville, and Jason Todd Corder and wife Alisa of Norwich, OH; one great grandson, Zachery Tanner Corder of Zanesville and two great granddaughters, Emilee Corder of Zanesville and Hayley Corder of Norwich. Mrs. Hyre was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Monday, January 3, 2011 from 5-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday at the funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Lowther and the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Carolyn Marie Hunt
Carolyn Marie Hunt, age 70, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, December 27, 2010 at her home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice in Buckhannon. She was born March 6, 1940 in Clendenin, WV, a daughter of the late Garl Ray and Eloise Lee Mahan. On March 28, 1959 she married Dale Junior Hunt of Buckhannon. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert Dale Hunt and wife Daisy of Rock Cave, WV; one granddaughter, April Tenney and husband Amos of French Creek, WV; one step granddaughter, Daisy Cox and husband TJ of Weston, WV; one step grandson, Scott Wease and wife Melissa of Union Bridge, MD; one great grandson, Andrew Jacob Tenney of French Creek; five step great-grandchildren and a foster sister, Carol Linger and husband Ronnie of Philippi, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Bennett. Mrs. Hunt was a cashier for the Dollar General Store. She was a member of the Heaston Ridge United Methodist Church and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a volunteer at the clothes closet at Upshur Parish House. Friends will be received at the Heaston Ridge United Methodist Church on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 12 Noon until 2 PM the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Heaston Ridge Church Cemetery at Heaston Ridge, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Heaston Ridge UMC or the Upshur Parish House. John Noah Hoover
John Noah Hoover, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV, the Tennerton Community died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at his home, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice, after an extended illness. He was born June 3, 1935 at Big Bend Ridge, WV, a son of the late Ira Ike and Flora Ratcliff Hoover. On December 24, 1954 he married Della June Shipman who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Johnny W. Hoover and wife Natalie of Vance, AL and Jerry Hoover and wife Jeanan of Buckhannon; one daughter, Barbara June Reed and husband Bill of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Thad Reed and wife Paula of Buckhannon, Travis Reed and wife Heather of Albright, WV and Cole Hoover of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Della A. Stephenson and husband Billy of McCalla, AL, Sherri Minich and husband Jim of New Bethlehem, PA and Jordan Hoover of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Tevon Minich of New Bethlehem; one great-granddaughter, Shaileen Minich of New Bethlehem; two brothers, Lyndell Hoover and wife Patty of French Creek, WV and Raymond Junior Hoover and wife Diane of Buckhannon; one sister, Retha Armstrong of French Creek and two sisters in law, Diana and Gwen Hoover both of Rittman, OH. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Attley and Robert Hoover and one sister, Violet Elbon. John was a coal miner, employed at Upshur Coals Corp. He also worked for the City of Buckhannon. He was a long time member of the Upshur County REACT Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and many years with his CB radio friends. He also enjoyed camping with his children and grandchildren. He was a western square dancer. He was a member of the Pairs and Squares of Weston, The Strawberry Pairs of Buckhannon and Centennial Squares of Lost Creek, WV. His greatest joy was playing stand up bass with his band, The Country Travelers, for 25 years. He was a Christian by faith, attended the Tennerton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Big Bend United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Church Cemetery at Big Bend, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice in memory of John Noah Hoover. Mya Cecelia Jeran
Mya Cecelia Jeran, infant daughter of Robert Ryan and Denice D. Phillips Jeran of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. In addition to her parents she is survived by one sister, Elly Jeran of Buckhannon; paternal grandparents, Robert R. and Robbyn Jeran of Buckhannon; maternal grandparents, Larry and Helen Phillips of Buckhannon; paternal great-grandparents, Robert H. and Ava Lee Jeran of Buckhannon and paternal great-grandfather, Charles Mansfield of Chester, WV. She was preceded in death by a paternal great-grandmother, Mary Lou Mansfield; maternal great-grandparents, Glen and Pauline (Rowan) Phillips and maternal great-grandparents, Sturl and Ruth Waybright. Graveside services were held 1 PM Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Heavner Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Damon Rhodes officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth J. Hunt
Ruth J. Hunt, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born September 19, 1931 in Raleigh County, WV, a daughter of the late Howard and Roxie Woodby Fearn. On December 20, 1967 she married Robert Loyal Hunt who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Merrilee Ann Hunt of Buckhannon; one son Robert Lee Hunt of Twin Lakes, MI; three brothers, Lloyd Fearn of OH, William Fearn of NC and Ronald Fearn of WV and one sister, Bonnie Wickline of VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Wickline, Ann Gardener and Margaret Jones. Mrs. Hunt was the personnel director at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon, the BPW and the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. Friends will be received from 4-7 PM, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Macbeth officiating. Burial will follow in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery in Belington, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Foundation for Life, PO Box 96, Natick, MA 01760 or online at www.alsfoundation.org, also First Presbyterian Church of Buckhannon, 10 Locust St., Buckhannon, WV 26201.
