Robert L. Heckman
Robert L. Heckman, age 44, of Mays Landing, NJ passed away suddenly on Monday, June 28, 2010. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and anything outdoors and loved having BBQs and bonfires with his family and friends. Robert was a loving father, brother and son. He worked for Mullica Township, Department of Public Works and was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local #5. He is survived by his parents Dorothy and Jack Petrosh of French Creek, WV; two sons, Robert L. Heckman, Jr. and Carl A. Heckman both of French Creek; two daughters, Amber M. Heckman of French Creek and Stephanie B. Heckman of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers, Harry Heckman and wife Judy of WV, Douglas Petrosh of Pleasantville and Gregory Petrosh of Mizpah; two sisters, Tammy Smith and husband Edwin of French Creek, WV and Lisa Johnson and husband Michael of Forked River, NJ; one grandchild, Laurel M. Conway of French Creek; his fiance Joanne M. Imperatore of Mays Landing; four stepchildren, Jessica Larwa and daughters, Serina, Escynce and Analise of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, Nicole Imperatore and daughter Tori of Mays Landing, Ryan Imperatore of Mays Landing and Samantha Capetillo of Mays Landing; three nieces, Dottie Jordan of French Creek, April Heckman of Weston, WV and Angel Heckman of French Creek; nephews and his best friend, Kevin L. Jordan. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Alton Cemetery with Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Alexander 'Alex' Scott Heatherly
Alexander Scott Heatherly, age 19, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in Lewis County, WV. He was born November 1, 1990 in Buckhannon a son of Larry Michael and Wilma Lee Dean Heatherly. In addition to his parents he is survived by three sisters, Kelley Spencer and husband Chad, Buckhannon, Amanda Heatherly and April Huskey all of Buckhannon; three brothers, Ronnie, David and Levi Heatherly all of Buckhannon; grandparents, Vernon and Rose Smith of Buckhannon and also several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Alex was a 2009 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, was employed by Krogers and attended Christian Fellowship Church. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Penny Rae Smith, grandparents, Winston and Margaret Dean and Margaret Heatherly. Friends will be received at the Christian Fellowship Church Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday at the church with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help with the funeral expenses. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charlotte Joan Hinkle
Charlotte Joan Hinkle, 75, of Dunbar, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House. She was retired from WV Workers Compensation with 46 years of service and attended the Dunbar United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church in Dunbar. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Joan attended Buckhannon-Upshur High School and WV Wesleyan College and was a member of the Kanawha Valley Chapter of the NSDR and the Capital City Women's Club. She was a charter member of the Buckhannon Rainbow Girls and served as Faith, Hope and Worthy Advisor. Joan was past secretary of the Anthony Jacob Henkel Family National Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. O. and Alpha Smith Hinkle and two sisters, Maxine Hinkle Clark and Mary Hinkle Bailey. Surviving are her nephews, Gary Bailey and his wife, Percilla of Eleanor and Phillip Bailey of Newton, NJ; nieces, Willa Clark Mullins and her husband, Larry of Hilliard, OH and Carol Bailey Hoernle and her husband, Eric of Lafayette, NJ. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Wednesday. Additional services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Friends may call at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, 2 hours prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Dunbar United Methodist Church, 1401 Myers Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.

Leonard Willis Herron
Leonard Willis Herron, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born December 8, 1916 in Cassity, WV, a son of the late Boyd and Pearl Loudin Herron. On January 30, 1942 he married Tressa Mae Hartley who preceded him in death on July 29, 1997. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lillian Wilke; one great-grandson, Richard Hoover; one sister, Opal Coberly; one infant sister, Violet Herron and four brothers, George, Raymond, Ellis and Stewart Herron. He is survived by four sons, Dewight Ike, Eugene and John Herron all of Buckhannon and Boyd Bill Herron and wife June of Queens, WV; five daughters, Mable Kelley and husband Elmer of Tallmansville, WV, Hilda Wagoner and husband Charles of Queens, Brenda DeMoss and husband Caroll of French Creek, WV, Emma Zickefoose and husband Ralph of Buckhannon and Linda Kelley of Buckhannon; one sister, Dessie Harris of Hodgesville, WV; three brothers, Lester Herron and wife Mable of Ashtabula, OH, Roy Herron and wife Charlene of VA and Laurel Herron of PA; thirty-six grandchildren and sixty-two great-grandchildren. Mr. Herron was a custodian for the Upshur County Board of Education and a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church of Queens. He also served in the Army during WW II and was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Heater officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery at Queens. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion, DAV Chapters #5 & #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. M. Hugh Hefner
Dr. M. Hugh Hefner, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, February 14, 2011. He is the son of the late Hubert and Marjorie Riffle Hefner. He is survived by his wife Nancy J. Hefner. Also surviving are two daughters, Megan and Ashley; one grandson; one sister, Vicki Owen; and two brothers, London and Adam Hefner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Hefner. Owning his own business since 1996, Dr. M. Hugh Hefner was an expert Geoscientist, Christian by faith, holding licenses to both captain sailboats and pilot airplanes. He loved his family, was an avid cyclist, enjoyed jogging, reading, the outdoors and chess. The family thanks everyone for their love and prayers. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Edna Henline
Edna Henline, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born September 6, 1918 in Lewis County, WV, a daughter of the late John Leonard and Iza Emaline Cutright Linger. On January 31, 1934 she married Paul Bernard Henline who preceded her in death on September 11, 1997. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gairy Henline; one sister, Opal Watkins and one brother, Creed Linger. She is survived by three daughters, Rose Morgan of Buckhannon; Delphia Ables and husband John of Perry, FL and Joann Nottingham and husband Danna of Strange Creek, WV; five sons, James G. Henline of Weston, WV, Paul J. Henline and wife Donna of Fairmont, WV, Asa L. Henline and wife Barbara of Weston, Russell E. Henline and wife Shirley of Roanoke, WV and Bernard D. Henline and wife Cindy of Weston; thirty grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren, ten step grandchildren and twenty-eight step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Henline was a homemaker and a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church. Friends will be received Monday, December 26, 2011 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery at Horner, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Claud Haymond
Claud Haymond, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at his home. He was born March 13, 1931 in Ingo, WV, a son of the late William Ford and Lottie Isenhart Haymond. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Haymond; three brothers, Calvin, Ervin and Ralph Haymond and one half-sister Melba Kyle. He is survived by his companion Sue Lambert of Buckhannon; four sons, Larry Wayne Haymond and wife Elizabeth of Wakman, OH, Clay Haymond of Kipton, OH and Cecil Haymond and wife Lesa and Kenny Haymond and wife Kathy, all of Rock Cave, WV; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Reba Riffle of French Creek, WV and Reva Thornton of Crawford; five brothers, Elmer Brooks Haymond and wife Norma of Buckhannon, Roger Haymond and wife Irene of Kanawha Head, WV, Jerry Haymond and wife Joyce and Russel Haymond and wife Carol and Allen Burl Haymond, all of Crawford; one half-sister Berdine Potts of Rock Cave; ex-wife, Jessie Haymond of Rock Cave and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Haymond was an auto assembly worker for Ford Motor Co. and a member of the United Auto Workers. Friends will be received Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 6-9PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2PM on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor David Jesse officiating. Burial will follow in the Panther Fork Cemetery at Kanawha Head. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Gerald Phillips Hinkle
Gerald Phillips Hinkle, age 96, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at his home under the care of St. Joseph Hospice. He was born November 26, 1916 in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Goff and Carmie Phillips Hinkle. On August 12, 1944 he married Garnett G. Beverage of Buckhannon, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Judy Jarrett and husband Dana of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Erin Shupe of Taylorsville, NC; four grandsons, Jerod Harman of Buckhannon, Jon Gay and wife Cindy of French Creek, WV, Trenton Gum of Morgantown, WV and Seth Gum of San Diego, CA; two great granddaughters, Kendra and Kari Gay both of French Creek and two great grandsons, Levi Gay of French Creek and Wyatt Gum of LA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Blosser; two brothers, Burl and Eugene Hinkle and one sister, Jenneve Hamilton. Mr. Hinkle was a member of the Mt. Olive EUB Church at Hinkleville and attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon. He served forty years with the Upshur County Board of Education as a teacher and principal. He was a charter member of the Central-Upshur Lions Club and was awarded the Leonard Jarrett Award and was a guiding Lion and helped start the Ireland Lions Club. Friends will be received from 6-8 PM, Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Paul R. Hickman
Paul R. Hickman, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Heartland Nursing Home in Clarksburg, WV. He was born October 21, 1927 in Dunbar, WV, a son of the late Martin L. and Zella Nichols Hickman. He graduated from Dunbar High School, received his bachelors degree from The Ohio State University, a masters degree from West Virginia University and did doctoral work at The Ohio State University. He was a professor of geology and physical sciences at West Virginia Wesleyan College and ran the schools planetarium. He retired in 1993 after 35 years of service at Wesleyan. He also served in the U.S. Army as a cartographer during the Korean War. He was married 58 years to the former Wanda L. Bush, who survives. They traveled extensively and enjoyed camping, hiking, reading and spending time with their family. He is also survived by three children, Dave Hickman and wife Julie Cryser of Morgantown, WV; John Hickman and wife Jan of California, PA and Kathryn Hickman and husband Thomas Collins of Port Chester, NY. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Gary Hickman and wife Heather of Washington, PA, Michael Hickman and wife Crystal of Boothsville, Grace and Annie Hickman of Morgantown, Leandra Hickman of Morgantown, WV, Brittany and Kasey Hickman of Orlando, FL, Emily, Patrick and Clare Collins of Port Chester, NY and three great grandchildren, Reese, Cameron and Madison Hickman of Washington, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Robert Hickman. A private memorial will be held with the family at a later date. David Arnold Henthorne
David Arnold Henthorne, age 59, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. He was born November 4, 1953 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Arnold E. and Georganna Doyle Henthorne. On April 9, 2010 he married Mellie M. Lipscomb who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Christopher David Arnold Henthorne and Randy Lee Henthorne both of Clarksburg; one daughter, Nicole Pearl Grimm of FL; three grandsons, Anthonie Jay Jeffrey and Matthew Wayne Jeffrey both of FL and Richard Moe Bird Tusing, III of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Maddisson Paige Hardy of MA and Brianna Nicole Plaugher of Clarksburg; one brother, J.R. Henthorne of Buckhannon; one sister, Susan Henthorne of Clarksburg; one biological brother, Bernard McDonald of Clarksburg; four biological sisters, Denice McDonald, Dreamma Merritt and Judy Ashcroft all of Clarksburg and Debbie Shockley of Huntington, WV and one daughter-in- law, Paris Tusing of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his biological father, Robert Farrell; biological mother, Sally Poocie Farrell; one son, Richard Jay Bird Tusing, Jr.; one brother, Christopher David Henthorne and one granddaughter, Whitney Elaine Hager. Mr. Henthorne was a Welder for the Oil Field. Friends will be received Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Claire D. Heflin
Claire D. Heflin, age 84 of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Elkins, WV. She was born September 24, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Florence Caroline Mack Jewell. On April 28, 1955 she married Raymond Bud Heflin who survives. Also surviving are two sons, George and James Heflin; one daughter, Barbara Heater; two grandsons, Gary Freshour and Cory Heflin; two granddaughters, Candida Heater and Nicole Heflin; three great grandchildren, Jonathan Matheny, Ryleigh and Brayden Freshour; three brothers, William Jewell, Thomas Jewell and Max Jewell; one sister, Jean Hahn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Jewell and one sister, Janet Thompson. She retired from St. Joseph's Hospital as a registered Nurse. Claire enjoyed gardening, was an adamant reader, took great pride in helping others and touched many hearts. She was a caring, compassionate, loving person and will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank Hospice Care Regional In Patient Center of Elkins for their kindness and caring hands. As per her request, she will be cremated and there will be no services.
