Rosa Lee Prince
Rosa Lee Prince, age 64, of Clarksburg, WV died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Heartland of Clarksburg. She was born October 5, 1946 in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Frona Gay Prince. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her husband William J. King who died on June 5, 2005. She is survived by one son, Phillip David Prince of Shepherd, TX; two granddaughters, Robbin Williams of Cleveland, TX and Christina Williams of Shepherd; one great-granddaughter, Selena Williams of Shepherd; several nieces and nephews and great-nephews and one cousin, Jimmy Fidler of Buckhannon. Mrs. Prince was a caregiver. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Clarksburg. Rosa Lee was a Volunteer for the Salvation Army. She was a warm and friendly person and lover her Lord Jesus and her family very much. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home with Lt. Erik Henry officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Wadena T. Light
Wadena T. Light, age 93, of Biloxi, MS and formerly of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 in Gulfport, MS. She was born February 13, 1914 at Palace Valley, WV, a daughter of the late Harmon and Anna Hoover Cutright. Also preceding her in death were her husband George W. Light on October, 19, 1978; two brothers, Vennis and Atorlan Cutright. She is survived by one son, Keyolan G. and wife Constance Light of Biloxi, MS; two grandsons, Kevin and wife Anna Light of Acworth, GA and Eric and Rebecca Light of Rome, GA; three great grandsons, Andrew, Kyle and Aiden Light all of Acworth, Ga; two great granddaughters, Mackenzie and Savannah Light of Rome, GA. Mrs. Light was a homemaker, a member Buckhannon Floral Rebekah Lodge # 183, member of Mt. Olive United Church at Hemlock, WV and attended Mt. Washington United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Sunday, June 10, 2007 from 1-2 PM. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. William C. Eskew, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Bobby H. Loftis
Dr. Bobby H. Loftis died on June 30, 2007 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina on July 8, 1929, the son of the late Robert and Ethyl Loftis, and was married to Bobbie Wray Loftis, who preceded him in death on October 29, 2000. Surving are two sons, Philip D. and Barbara Loftis of Buckhannon and Christopher H. and Sheryl Loftis of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Elizabeth A. and Jeffrey Dumas of Wheeling, and Rebecca L. and Keith Foster of Fairmont. Two brothers, Jack Loftis of Mt. Airy, NC, and Dale Loftis of Winston-Salem, NC; and a sister, Wilma Arnder of Goldsboro, NC, also survive. His beloved grandchildren included Jessica Marie Hunter (of Asheville, NC), Catherine Loftis (Buckhannon), Daniel Bryan (New Martinsville, WV), Nicole Bryan (Fairmont), Benjamin and Nickolas Smith (Fairmont), and Tara, Trisha and Tyler Loftis (Virginia Beach, VA). He also delighted in his great-grandchildren Alejandro Lopez Maldonado and Jade Bryan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, and a granddaughter, Natalie Rose Bryan, also preceded him in death. At his request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial celebration of his life and music ministry will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, WV, at 11:00 AM, July 3, 2007. Interment of his ashes will be at Heavner Cemetary following cremation. Dr. Loftis attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, received his masters degree from the University of Florida at Gainsville, and his doctorate in music from West Virginia University. He was a veteran of the armed services, discharged honorably in 1962. He was a professor of music at West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1959 until his retirement in 1991. He served as chair of the Music Department at Wesleyan from 1971 until 1985. He was vice-president of the West Virginia College Music Educators Association. He also was a member of the West Virginia Music Teachers Association, and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honorary. He received numerous awards for service from Wesleyan. It was his great joy to lead the music ministry of First United Methodist Church from 1959 until 1979 (as choir director) and 1979 to 2005 (as organist). During his tenure and retirement, he presented many musical programs for the church and for the United Methodist Women, who donated $10, 000 in his honor towards renovation of the Rohrbough organ at Wesleyan. Dr. Loftis also lent his musical talents to various community activities, frequently providing music on short notice for funerals, weddings, and other events. He also accompanied many musicians and groups in performances at Wesleyan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the piano maintenance fund at First United Methodist Church, or to the Rohrbough organ repair fund at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Frances L. Lynch
Frances L. Lynch, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born May 13, 1922 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Luther and Fannie Rebecca Jones Lynch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Lynch Williams. Miss Lynch was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Frances graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1944 with a B. S. Degree in Home Economics. She earned a Masters of Science Degree in Home Economics at WVU. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, WV and American Home Economics Assocs., The Home Economics Pioneers, The American Assoc. of University Women, The Buckhannon Women's Club, The First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the WV Wesleyan Emeritus Club. She was a member of the choir at the church for many years. She began teaching at Buckhannon-Upshur High School (Tennerton Division) in the late forties. She was an advisor to the Future Homemakers of America. During her teaching career, she also supervised student teachers from Wesleyan and Glenville Colleges and WV and Marshall Universities. She retired from Buckhannon-Upshur High School after the two divisions were consolidated. She will be greatly missed by all her many friends. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 12-2 PM, with funeral services beginning at 2 PM with the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Clarksburg. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Frances L. Lynch Scholarship Fund at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Edgar Benson Lowe
Edgar Benson Lowe, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at his home. He was born May 25, 1918 in Huntersville, WV, a son of the late Rev. Arthur Wilbert and Anna Grace Benson Lowe. On August 25, 1942 he married Jane Guthrie who survives. Also surviving are a son, John A. Lowe of Buckhannon; a Daughter, Linda L. Ogden and husband Howard of Hinkleville, WV; a grandson Dean Ogden and wife Kanay of Prestonburg, KY; a granddaughter, Heather A. Ogden of Hinkleville; a great granddaughter, Shelby Ogden of Prestonburg; a sister Algana Guthrie of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Edgar was a plumber and electrician for Shannons Hardware, a member of Nays Chapel United Methodist Church and served in the Army Airforce during World War II. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from 4 to 8 PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Harold Langevin, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery at Tallmansville. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

David Lynn Martin
David Lynn Martin, age 69, of Emmitsburg, Maryland died on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born August 19, 1939 in Buckhannon, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Orza J. and Mabel (Sayre) Martin. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara Welty Martin. He obtained his bachelors degree from West Virginia Wesleyan and his masters degree from West Virginia University. After retiring as a teacher from Frederick Co. Public Schools, he was employed as a hazardous materials instructor at the National Fire Academy. David was active in the community, a member of Thurmont United Methodist Church, Emmitsburg Lions Club, and Friends of Emmitsburg Library. He enjoyed reading, photography, attending Emmitsburg town meetings, auctions, and working on his Apple computer. Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughters; Marianne Kreiner and husband Andrew of Germantown, and Aimee Martin of Emmitsburg; one grandchild, Nicholas Kreiner; and two sisters, Lois Chichester of Vienna, WV, and Linda Martin of Lake Placid, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, with his pastor the Rev. Gary Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the Emmitsburg Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Davids name be made to either Friends of Emmitsburg Library (FOLEB) 300A S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, MD 21727 or to Emmitsburg Lions Club, P.O. Doris Hollen Mathew
Doris Hollen Mathew, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center in Elkins, WV. She was born November 1, 1934 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Bert Tenney, Sr. and Shirley Hollen Tenney. On August 24, 1957 she married Harry W. Mathew, Sr., who preceded her in death on April 10, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Valente and one brother, Bert Tenney, Jr. She is survived by one son, Harry Buff Mathew and wife Melissa of Buckhannon; one daughter, Vickie Dean and husband Dwayne of Buckhannon; one grandson, Randall of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Cheryl of Houston, TX and Elizabeth of Buckhannon; three great-granddaughters, Jennifer, Stephanie and Krista of Houston; one sister, Dana Tallman and husband Bobby Joe of Tallmansville, WV; a sister in law, Madeline Tenney of Ten Mile, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mathew was a homemaker. She was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 Ladies Aux. and the Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598 Women of the Moose. Friends will be received Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mabel Ruth Lough
Mabel Ruth Lough, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, January 14, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born August 15, 1928 in Gilmer Station, WV, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ora Wilmoth Spore. On January 21, 1949 she married George Lough who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, David Lough and one sister, Reda Lowther. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Herndon and husband Russell Jack of Buckhannon, Judy Moore and husband David of Adrian, WV and Delores Hershberger of Buckhannon; two sons, Judson Spore of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Roger Lough and wife Arlene of Buckhannon; five grandsons, Rusty Herndon and wife Susie of Buckhannon, Chris Moore of Morgantown, WV, Hezekiah Spore of Akron, OH, David Mayo of Buckhannon and Steven Hershberger and wife Jessica of NC; three granddaughters, Brittany Herndon of Morgantown, Kayla Mayo of Weston, WV and Tracy Galati and husband Steve of Akron, OH; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob, Bud and Raymond Spore all of Buckhannon and two sisters, Annabell Lipps and Virgie Landers both of Buckhannon. Mrs. Lough was a cook for Maggies Restaurant and a Pentecostal by faith. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 9-10 AM the funeral hour with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery at Hodgesville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

George Dude Lloyd
George Dude Lloyd, age 94, of Helvetia, WV the Hemlock Community died Friday, December 12, 2008 at his home. He was born February 18, 1914 in Palace Valley, WV, a son of the late Wilbur and Lona Shahan Lloyd. On June 9, 1936 he married Elva Carpenter who survives. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Richard, Joseph and Oren Tom Lloyd and one sister, Christina Hickman. Mr. Lloyd was a timber cutter. Friends will be received Monday, December 15, 2008 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. He will lie in state from 1-2 the funeral hour on Tuesday at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Hemlock with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mark Allen Pratt
Mark Allen Pratt, age 48, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at his home. He was born April 5, 1962 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of James I. and Mary Shreve Pratt of Salem, WV. Also surviving is one brother, James J. Pratt of Salem and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert J. and Letha Harris Shreve and James M. and Mamie A. Mayle Pratt. Mark was a Taxi Driver. He was a 1980 graduate of Liberty High School. Graveside services will be held 10 AM Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Vegan, WV with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangement.

O. Wayne Linger
O. Wayne Linger, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, March 6, 2009 at Holbrook's Nursing Home. He was born May 2, 1921 at Holly Grove, WV, a son of the late Ulysses Jobe and Etta Dyer DeBarr Linger. On August 1, 1952 he married Rose Geraldine Cunningham who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda R. McCourt and husband Charlie of Buckhannon, Connie Linger of Elkins, WV and Karen Ward and husband Steve of Indianapolis, IN; three sons, Perry Wayne Linger of Buckhannon, Mark Alan Linger of Charleston, WV and Kyle Ray Linger and wife Marilyn of Buckhannon; one brother, Clinton Linger of Barberton, OH; two grandsons, Austin and Kyle Linger; five granddaughters, Virginia Davison and husband Russell, Miranda Burnside and husband Jonathan, April Linger, Stephanie and Christina Sears; two great grandsons, Daniel Davison and Skylar and two great granddaughters, Sarah Davison and Madison Burnside. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Christopher Gail Linger and Jared Ray Sears; one granddaughter, Alleen Danielle Linger and five brothers, Russell, Roland, Clarence, Walter and Morgan Linger. Mr. Linger was a dairy farmer for Burton Phillips. He served with the US Army during WW II, performing duties with an Anti-Aircraft Battalion in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, which included loading and unloading ammunition, digging ammunition pits and fusing projectiles for the 90-mm AA gun section. He was awarded Bronze Service Stars for the Sicilian, Naples-Foggia, Southern France, Rome-Arno, Rhineland and Central European Campaigns. Friends will be received Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Camp Church Cemetery at French Creek, WV. VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
