Lillian M. Linger
Lillian M. Linger, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV died June 1, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born July 10, 1923 in Ellamore, WV, a daughter of the late Wilford and Valta Rowan Davis. On August 18, 1944 she married Charles Edward Linger who preceded her in death on November 19, 1993. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Bernard Leo Linger; one great-grandson, Nicholas Linger; six brothers, Bud, Lorn, Jim, Harry, Larry Gene and Mason Davis. She is survived by two daughters, Jerry Henderson and husband Bruce of Buckhannon and Carolyn Mason and husband Wyman of Steens, MS; three sons, Charles Eugene Wimpy Linger of Oklahoma City, OK, Gary Neal Linger and wife Rozetta of Buckhannon and Shawn Babbitt and wife Mindy of Buckhannon; five grandsons, Jonathan Rowan of Mooresville, NC, David and Sam Linger both of Buckhannon, Stormy Linger of Stonewood, WV and David Babbitt of Fayetteville, WV; four granddaughters, Jane Linger of OH, Wendy Ward of Washington, VA, Misty Sow of Oklahoma City and Destiny Babbitt of Buckhannon; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers, Artis Davis of Brunswick, OH, Ruhl Davis of Strongsville, OH, Everett Davis of Buckhannon, Douglas Davis of Belington, WV and Don Davis of Weston, WV; three sisters, Sylvia Zirkle of Jimtown, WV, Lieu Hall of Buckhannon and Macil Robinson of Strongsville; several nieces and nephews and for many years Mrs. Linger was served by her faithful caregiver, Brenda Hissam. Mrs. Linger was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God in Buckhannon. Friends will be received Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2-4 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the Buckhannon Church of God with Pastor Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Aleta Dee Nelson
Aleta Dee Nelson, age 63, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born December 27, 1946 in Maryland. On July 17, 1995 she married James Shaver who survives. Also surviving are one son, James Absher of WV; her dog, Peeper; mother-in-law, Carole Overfield of Buckhannon; two brother-in-laws, Rod Shaver and wife Rosa of Buckhannon and Randy Tenney and wife Angela of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Tina Lewis and husband Dave of Buckhannon; five nieces, Kayla Long, Jordan Shaver, Morgan Tenney, Cassie Tenney and Emily Tenney all of Buckhannon; and one nephew, Seth Shaver of Buckhannon. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John Overfield and one sister-in-law, Dodie Tenney. She was a baker. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Patton Lacy Nickell, Jr.
Patton Lacy Nickell, Jr., 82, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital, with family and friends nearby. Pat was born February 15, 1929 in Ronceverte, WV, the son of the late Patton Lacy and Isabelle Jackson Nickell. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ellen Roush Nickell. Also surviving are two sons, Van and his wife Karen Nickell of Sewickley, PA and Wesley Nickell of Wheeling, WV; a daughter, Jane Ellen Nickell of Meadville, PA; three grandchildren, Christopher Nickell of Sewickley, PA, Elizabeth Nickell and Jacob Nickell both of Wheeling, WV; a sister, Nancy Looney of Bluefield, WV and several nieces and nephews. Pat was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and held a masters degree from Marshall University. He worked for West Virginia Wesleyan College as Registrar, as Vice President for Administration, and as Director of Church Relations, retiring from that position in 1986. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, serving God faithfully while providing church leadership in a number of capacities. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean War. He was very active in the community as local leader for the American Cancer Society, a Scoutmaster and a read aloud volunteer at the Buckhannon Academy Elementary School, among other community activities. Pat will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his loyalty to his friends, his keen sense of humor and his generosity. The family will receive friends at Poling St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, September 23 from 5:00-8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held 3 pm Saturday, September 24 at 3:00 at the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon where the family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, with the Rev. Steven Meadows and Rev. Ronald M. McCauley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the Roush Nickell Scholarship Fund at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Checks payable to WVWC can be mailed to WVWC Office of Advancement, 59 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201 with a note designating memorial gift for Patton Nickell. Gary Neil Linger
Gary Neil Linger, age 60, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born August 21, 1951 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Charles Edward and Lillian Mary Davis Linger. On June 2, 1975 he married Rozetta H. Tenney who survives of Buckhannon. Also surviving are two daughters, Wendy Dawn Ward and husband Keith of Washington, VA and Misty Rose Sow and husband Cheikh of Oklahoma City, OK; two sons, Sammie Neil Linger and Stormy Allen Linger and wife Crystal Dawn all of Buckhannon; one grandson, Miguel Rylee Linger of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Leigha Roze Linger of Buckhannon; one brother, Charles Eugene Wimpy Linger of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Carolyn Mason and husband Wyman of Steens, MS and Geraldine Henderson and husband Bruce of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son John Eric Linger; one grandson, Elijah Nicholas Wyatt Linger and one brother, Bernard Leo Linger. Gary served two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Division and was awarded the Vietnam service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, the Gallantry Cross and two Bronze Stars. He was a Diesel Mechanic in the United States Army. Gary was a member of the Buckhannon Church of God. Friends will be received Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 4-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the Buckhannon Church of God with Pastor Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery in Ten Mile, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 and # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Helen Irene Linger
Helen Irene Linger, age 81, of Elkins, WV passed suddenly on Sunday, July 1, 2012 in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born August 21, 1930 in Daysville, WV, a daughter of the late Daniel Elmer Kelly and Janice Emma Lewis Campbell. On June 5, 1947 she married Oden Lee Linger who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Roger Lee Linger and wife Anna of Sunderland, MD, Steven Michael Linger and wife Veronica of French Creek, WV, Richard Daniel Linger and companion Mitzi of Wheaton, MD and William Oden Linger and companion Barbara of Elkins; one daughter, Debra ODenise Fullem and husband Terry of Edgewater, MD; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew William Linger and two sisters. Mrs. Linger was a front end manager for Safeway Stores, Inc., in Maryland. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed painting and loving her grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Buckhannon with Bishop Steven Linger officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Reginald W. Shorty Long
On October 21, 2011 at 12:45 AM., Reginald W. Shorty Long of 17 Fairway Court, Deland, FL passed peacefully into eternity at Florida Deland Hospital, with his wife by his side. He was born in Buckhannon on May 22, 1924, the son of the late John and Ola Duncan Long. He is survived by his wife Pat, two sons, James (Cindy) and Patrick (Susan) of Buckhannon; two daughters, Linda Long Kaze (Bob) of Glasgow, Scotland and Laura (Mark) Adams of Charlottesville, VA; five grandchildren, Jim (Sarah) of Charleston, Jonah (Terri) of Hermitage, PA, Jessica of Huntington, Kyle (Svetlana) and Caitlin of Glasgow, Scotland; five great-grandchildren, Carrie, Charlie and Grace of Charleston and Allie and Trenton of Hermitage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brad. Reg was a railroad conductor for 45 years and after his retirement in 1989 he moved to Parkersburg. While visiting old Buckhannon neighbors in Florida he spent some time in Deland and learned to play bridge. He was a member of the Deland Bridge Club and also of Bridge Clubs in Parkersburg. He was delighted to attain the rank of Life Master. In 2004 he donated his body to the WV University School of Medical Science. A gathering of remembrance will be held in the Veterans Pavilion at the Veterans Cemetery Addition of the Buckhannon Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 1 PM. Veta M. Lewis
Veta M. Lewis, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, December 24, 2012 at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born May 23, 1923 in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late Aubrey and Ina Ware Myers. On May 24, 1947, she married Perry C. Pug Lewis who preceded her in death on January 2, 2002. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert and Lester Myers. She is survived by one daughter, Vicki Vincent and husband David of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Brandon Vincent and wife Aimee of Ashburn, VA and Mitchell Vincent and wife Rebecca of Hurricane, WV; two great grandsons, Nash Vincent of Hurricane and Jackson Vincent of Ashburn; two great granddaughters, Olivia Vincent of Ashburn and Lilliana Vincent of Hurricane; one sister, Lucile Quertinmont and husband Page of Bridgeport, WV; brother-in-law, Lejeune Lewis of Buckhannon; two nieces, Barb Smith and husband Greg and Beth Moore and husband Jim and one nephew David Lewis and wife Pam all of WV. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis owned and operated Lewis Jewelers of Buckhannon for 59 years. She was also a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday, December 28, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marion Cornell Nease
Marion Cornell Nease, age 57, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at his home. He was born on March 12, 1950 a son of the late William H. and Ramona I. McGrew Nease. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Celestine Nease. Mr. Nease is survived by one daughter, Samantha of Buckhannon; one sister, Martha Gay Gaynelle Jeffers and husband Don of Bridgeport, WV; one brother, William C. Nease and wife Debbie of Buffalo, WV; two special niece Alaina Nease of Ashboro, NC and Andrea Markins and husband Michael of Hurricane, WV; and two caring friends, Tommy Gillespie and Randy Reger both of Buckhannon. He graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School and was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He was owner and operator of Shiny New Body Shop and a Lutheran by faith. Friends will be received 9 - 10 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with the Reverend Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Helen I. Nethken
Helen I. Nethken, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, March 24, 2008 at her home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. She was born May 12, 1922 in Ellamore, WV, a daughter of the late Clinton Clark and Rhoda Friel Shreve. On July 31, 1938 she married Ralph D. Nethken, Sr. who died June 30, 2006. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four sisters, Gola Lamb, Pearl Shaver, Martha Goodwin and Annie Britton; two brothers, Frank and Clinton Shreve; one granddaughter, Beth Ann Nethken and one grandson, Ralph Casto. She is survived by three sons, Ralph David Nethken, Jr. and wife Karen of Beverly, WV, Kenna Clark Nethken and Cheryl of Seaford, DE and Bobby Donald Nethken of Grafton, WV; six daughters, Betty Jane Nethken of Buckhannon, Lou Ella Teter and husband Bill of Buckhannon, Judy Ann Simmons and husband Ray of Charlotte, NC, Jean Rohr and husband Martin of Buckhannon, Connie McLaughlin and husband Terry of Littleton, CO and Donna Currence and husband Rick of Ellamore, WV; several nieces and nephews; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Nethken was a homemaker. She attended Mt. Lebanon and was a member of Gertrude Chapel at Ellamore. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sherman Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Helen Neely
It was on the wings of death at 7:30 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009 that Helen Louise Neelys living soul took flight from Holbrook Nursing Home into the promised land of our God where there is no night. Helen was born in Buckhannon on July 25, 1922, a daughter of the late Garland H. and Mary Cutright Crites. On September 17, 1949 she married Argel Neely, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two infant brothers and her eldest brother, Paul Marvin Crites. She is survived by one nephew, Tom and wife Treasea Crites of Glady Fork; two nieces, Paulette and husband Robert Bellott of Arlington, VA and Marcia and husband Joe Shipman of Glady Fork. Several great nephews; two great nieces; several great-great nephews and two great-great nieces. Mrs. Neely had been a resident of Holbrook Nursing Home for several years-her bingo heaven !!! Mrs. Neely was a member of the Rocky Ford United Methodist Church. Helens family and friends will be received Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 10 AM with the Rev. William C. Eskew, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Rocky Ford Cemetery. Mary Louise Nuzum
Mary Louise Nuzum, age 73, of Adrian, WV, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born November 12, 1936 in Dola, WV a daughter of the late William Franklin and Elma B. Price Flowers. On July 15, 1954 she married Elsworth J. Nuzum who preceded her in death October 8, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elacia Bowman. She is survived by eight sons, Buck Nuzum and wife Deborah of Buckhannon, Richard Nuzum and wife Victoria of Beckley, WV, Allen Nuzum and wife Teresa of MN, Michael Nuzum and companion Betty Sipe of Buckhannon, Thomas Nuzum and wife Beth of Elkins, WV, James Milford and companion Cheryl of Fairmont, WV, Tim Nuzum of Buckhannon and John Nuzum of MD; six daughters, Joyce Nuzum and companion William Kidd of Clarksburg, WV, Marlene Jefferies and companion Bill Green of Buckhannon, Leah Nuzum, Sherry Friend and companion Allen Hamner of Rock Cave, WV, Mary Nuzum and companion Robert DeMastes of Rock Cave, WV and Carolyn Sipe and husband Terry of Buckhannon; 29 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren and one sister Mable Stutler of Mt. Clare, WV. Mrs. Nuzum was a homemaker and a member of the Sago Baptist Church. Friends will be received Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow at the Laurel Fork Church Cemetery in French Creek, WV.
